Tomorrow I am off on a world wind tour of seeing my parents, playing MTG, attending the Conflux pre-release, playing with Quasi and hopefully eating cake at some point in time.

I am getting under way of making my wedding plans, its mind boggling and I really don't wanna deal with it at all.

So I was reading the wizard website and it had their newest book listed as being out today, though being Canada, we won't get it til next week.

If you pick it up this weekends at the Conflus pre-release, you can get a free Planeswalker card of Jace. Nifty idea.

So I scope around Chapters.ca and Amazon.com to see if they have Agents listed and they do (never knew it was a hardcover book either) and I see these two books listed as well..

How true these are has yet to be told, both the images are from cards, and Wizard usually creates new art work for the books, but they could be simple mock ups.

I gotta wonder what the exclusive pre-release giveaway card is gonna be. It might have been announced and I missed it.

I am enjoying watching YGO GX but I really want to watch the original and to buy the first season on DVD is ludicrious amount of money, 150 bucks USD!!

I perfer the older fat packs that came with 2 boxes and dividers. Plus they were cheaper, the extra 2 packs is nice and all but the extra box and dividers were more helpful in the long run.

One of my favourite cards in my Red/White Magic Deck. Its great to pull out towards the end of the game cause everyone always want to save their lands, leaving themselves wide open for attack.

I've won many duels with it.

YGO-GX Manga

Woot.. I finally found the first volume of Yu-Gi-Oh GX at chapters today, they were hiding it in the kids section.

And thankfully my question about the series was answered in the opening pages of Vol 1. The Anime and the manga are two completely different beasts. As the anime came first and the manga second, based on the true intention of the anime's creator. The anime was a quick cash-in created by one of the assistants on the Yu-Gi-Oh manga.

I so look forward to reading it.

Yu-Gi-Oh & YGO-GX

I was at Chapters yesterday and I wanted to pick up something to read and I've been really into Yu-Gi-Oh GX lately, though I can't find the first volume anywhere, so I grabbed the HC edition of the first YGO series and I totally forgot how violent the series was at the beginning (note: the US version of the cartoon omitted the first few volumes.) it suprising that it was such a hit with kids.

As I said, I've been digging YGO-GX, having watched the first 14 episodes of the US version. But how close does the manga and the anime run? If I pick up the first volume am I just gonna get a rehash of what I watched already?

I know Shonen Jump is running it, and it looks like its a completely different beast.. I don't know. My one beef with Shonen Jump running chapters of a manga is it delays the release of the tankobans. Hell, i still can't even find the frst volume of Slam Dunk.

MTG Booster Draft

Its the only thing I miss about not living in Duncan anymore, going to the wedensday Booster Draft at Collectors Choice. It seems like a massive waste of time to any outsider but really it is alot of fun, especially if you aren't that good at it, anyone can really come out on top, or at least in the top 4 spots.

MTG.com has a Booster Draft simulator but its just not the same really. The fun part is afterwards, trying out your deck against real people.

If ya can, try to go to your local Card Shop or Comic Book store and try out a MTG Booster Draft. It can loads of fun.

Has anyone ever picked this up who's a guy? I am curious, as I'm jonesing hard for manga right now, and I've seen some titles come out of Shojo Beat that kinda interest me like Fall In Love Like a Comic.

I don't know if I should grab this issue or wait til the new one comes out, which should next week.

New Manga I'm Reading - Ral Ω Grad, Pretty Face and Zombie Powder

Zombie Powder reminded me alot of Trigun, with the Western setting and the mysterious stranger, but bythe end it won me over. Massive action scenes almost every 10 pages, what red blooded make wouldn't love that? Plus it deals with zombies.. I love me some undead nasties. Zombie Powder is the series that preceeded Bleach, both done by Tite Kubo. I didn't really like Bleach so I was surprised I like this one.

I've started Pretty Face, a very bizarre read but its quite good and very heart felt despite its pervertedness .

I have yet to crack the spine of Ral Ω Grad, but I am very eager too. Same artist as Hikaru No Go (which I started reading again) and Death Note. Obata is on my Must Buy list.

Death Note Box Set

I am really starting to obsessive over this series. I downloaded all the episodes the other day, watched the first one and decided I need to get the actual episodes on DVD. You gotta support something you love this much.

I'm still working my way through the manga, which each volume is getting better and better.

Apparently this box set came out last week (Nov 18th) but no one here has it, chances are it got delayed a week, due to no french being present on the box.

Sadly it costs a massive 70 bucks for 20 episodes while I can get the DBZ box sets for 30-40 bucks withmore episodes. I would gladly pay 70 bucks if it was every episode cause theres only 37 in total but I'm sure Viz knows diehard fans will pay that much cause they are suckers ( I include myself in that, just so ya know).

I'm gonna go, sit down and read vol 7. I eagerly await the twists and turns it will bring.

Wall E Review

Writing a review for Wall E is like breathing in fresh air, its something so great and absolutely wonderful that you don't need to be told how good it is.

Wall E is probably the best film ever released under the Disney banner, nothing they do will ever match up to how wonderfully awesome this movie is, least til Pixars next movie that is.

You follow the adventures of a robot left behind on earth to clean up humanities garbage, and over the course of 700 yrs, the little guy has develop a sense of being, has become self aware. And the one day another robot lands on Earth looking for something and then slowly over time, Wall E starts to fall in love with this robot.

It's an incredibly heartfelt story. I teared up a few times, but I also laughed a whole bunch too. It also helps that Wall E looks alot like 80's robot hero Johnny 5 from Short Circuit and I loved that guy, I cried like a little baby when he "died" at the end.

Anyways, the CGI in this is something to behold. Pixar has completely outdone themselves here. If I didn't know it was a CGI cartoon, I would have thought it was shot on some grungy backlot in Hollywood. Awesome job.

My only real complaint about the movie is that is too short. It is 98 mins long, ample time for a cartoon, but I could have easily sat there for 2 or more hours watching this movie. Thats how much I loved it.

Definitely add Wall E to your X-Mas list if you haven't bought it already. Its a great family film, that I am 100% sure everyone will love.! 5 outta 5 stars!

Shonan Junai Gumi Review

I have roughly a dozen volumes of GTO which I really like, so coming across the series that preceded it is kinda cool.

Shonan Junai Gumi is about Ekichi Onizuka and his Friend Ryuji, who leavw their current highschool to transfer to a Co-Ed Highschool in another prefecture to hit on chicks who have no idea who they are.

SJG starts off in a slightly different vein that what I expected, but by the end of the volume it was closer to what I was reading in GTO.

Course the series seems to be only about Onizuka and his friend trying to score (there are some lessons about love towards the end, i was surprised) and that there no real lessons are learned at all, but its all about the friendship between Onizuka and his friend Ryuji in the end and how the two well go through anything for each other, no matter how embrassing.

The tankoban is full of sexually jokes, some which are hilarious others that are groan inducing. And other jokes wiil be lost on most due to Westerners not knowing anything about Japanese Pop Culture (we know waymore now but there are lots of 80's pop jokes).

Fujisawa's artwork is pretty decent, he draws some damn decent looking babes but that could be said for most manga artists.

Overall I ended up enjoying SJG which I didn't think I would when I started reading. I will definitely pick up Vol 2 soon.

Death Note Manga

I was on my first break at work today and I went over to the LCS to look at the trades, and took a gander at the last page of the last volume of Death Note... It left me kinda speechless.

After reading the first 4 volumes, I had to grab #5, since my girlfriend decided to abandon the series, to see exactly how the series reaches that conclusion.

I also grabbed GTO: The Early Years Vol 1. I really loved the first series, but it never seemed like it was gonna end. The Early Years come in a nice 600 pg tankoban for nice price, 14 bucks a pop!.

I got some good reading ahead of me.
