Philadelphia Flyer fans are blue collar. There team was once known as the Broad Street Bullies. And the New York Rangers are a northern/central New Jersey, Manhattan fan base. So, inviting Sarah Palin to drop the first puck in front of these crazy rowdies may have been the biggest dumbass move ever. So, yes, I am ready to let off a little stress.

Stop at the store, head home, to hear a neighbor say "did you lose a cat?" I look in my window and see furry child #1 and furry child #2 hanging out watching me, and reply "thankfully, no". Though I still wander over and see this little almost all black cat hanging out in a cat carrier. And dangit, he is cute.

But, I resist. I have 2 cats, and this one has been outside, who knows what it has. But, the finders of little Biden are allergic and are already breaking out from hives. Again, I resist!

3 hours later, take the garbage out and Mrs Duck asks, If it around?"

Needless to say we have an almost black cat now hanging out in a giant cage in our basementSparky Duckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10599649584020982942noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8158674.post-60850127888149071392008-10-06T20:06:00.002-04:002008-10-06T20:08:32.698-04:00I know a guy(wink wink) Who knows a guy, who's cousin's girlfriend said to her that we should not be actively seeking loans. So of course, I have to share it with you all. (okay, all 3 of you)

After experiencing the debate Friday in a vodka induced haze, which Obama and McCain really tied in, which means the Senator of Illinois actually won, it was a wedding in Center City Philadelphia. During the week, I was dreading going, because it would cut into my leisure time during the weekend, and also, this was a wedding for Mrs Duck and her friends/co workers. Which means I would know only a few people. However, I should have noticed the first sign it would be a good weekend, when I was able to score a hotel room on Priceline for 75% off what it would usually be. Bargain shopper I am.

Into the city we go, to find that our hotel is inundated with NAMIC members. Not exactly an exciting bunch, but I would say they still have the cash, since Bruce Hornsby was playing there gala banquet finale. Or Mr Hornsby is suffering for cash.

The reception was excellent, classy and actually fun. I am not a fan of bands at weddings, but the group Touche, was quite good. A bit 70s sounding for the taste of Mr Duck, but the dance floor was jamming all night long. The food was quite good, the ambiance was classic and in actuality, this may have been one of the best weddings the Duck family has attended since we have been together.

Plus, one of the guests was actually a ex husband of a famous portly comedianne. That, if nothing else was an interesting gawking without gawking sight.

Yes, a actually terrific weekend, plus we were able to score some nice flowers! Though the Philadelphia Puerto Rican Day parade through a bit of a hitch in the commute home Sunday.Sparky Duckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10599649584020982942noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8158674.post-77147045763315238632008-09-23T22:07:00.001-04:002008-09-23T22:10:40.000-04:00Thats #4-Patrick McDonaldSay a prayer, or light a candle or do a shamen dance for the memory of Patrick McDonald, member of the Philadelphia Highway Patrol.

Sparky Duckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10599649584020982942noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8158674.post-79326654029766072852008-09-22T21:29:00.002-04:002008-09-22T21:35:04.074-04:00There you go againWell, how about that, I am going to actually quote Ronald Reagan. Will wonders never cease.

So, John McCain was on the Today Show, well today, talking about his railing against the Golden Parachutes that some of these CEO's have been getting. Time to clean it up, etc etc.

So Meredith Veiria asks him about former McCain Economic spokesperson, Carla Fiorina, and her $28 million dollar parachute she got when she was asked to leave Hewlett Packard.

Yes, McCain disagreed, because he thought she did a good job and that he had no idea what her package was. So, what we are looking at as another Republican President is someone who disagrees without all the facts? That has worked out so well these past 8 years, why not continue it?Sparky Duckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10599649584020982942noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8158674.post-70771001229022446482008-09-22T08:10:00.000-04:002008-09-22T08:10:00.559-04:00Poetry Monday in New EnglandYes, one of my favorite songs of all time. I may have done it once already, but you know what, the song is so great, Fuck you/

In the light of the sun, is there anyone? Oh it has begun...
Oh dear you look so lost, eyes are red and tears are shed,
This world you must've crossed... you said...

You don't know me, you don't even care, oh yeah,
She said
You don't know me, and you don't wear my chains... oh yeah,

Essential yet appealed, carry all your thoughts across
An open field,
When flowers gaze at you... they're not the only ones who cry
When they see you
You said...

You don't know me, you don't even care, oh yeah,
She said
You don't know me, and you don't wear my chains... oh yeah,

She said I think I'll go to Boston...
I think I'll start a new life,
I think I'll start it over, where no one knows my name,
I'll get out of California, I'm tired of the weather,
I think I'll get a lover and fly em out to Spain...
I think I'll go to Boston,
I think that I'm just tired
I think I need a new town, to leave this all behind...
I think I need a sunrise, I'm tired of the sunset,
I hear it's nice in the Summer, some snow would be nice... oh yeah,

Boston... where no one knows my name... yeah
Where no one knows my name...
Where no one knows my name...
Yeah Boston...
Where no one knows my name.

Sparky Duckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10599649584020982942noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8158674.post-20346182563611212702008-09-21T10:51:00.002-04:002008-09-21T10:58:28.516-04:00Edge of your seat TV todayAnd yes, amazingly I am talking about Golf. Today is the single's part of the Ryder Cup, starting at noon EST on NBC.

Now, I know, its Golf vs the NFL. And really, without Tiger, how can golf be exciting? Well, the Ryder Cup is different. There becomes almost a good vs evil component to a competition like this, because the emotions of both teams, the Europeans and the Americans, come out more than you ever really see it any other time on the golf course.

Plus, the crowd actually gets involved, either with the "Ole Ole Ole" or "USA" chants. Plus, it's still danged close. The United States needs to win 5 and a half matches (5 wins and one tie) and the Europeans need to win 7 to keep the cup. Wide open still, wide open.Sparky Duckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10599649584020982942noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8158674.post-76469260388256414522008-09-16T20:37:00.002-04:002008-09-16T20:40:34.644-04:00Big Trouble on Little Wall StreetTo be perfectly honest, this whole financial stocks thing is not my bag. I look at my 401k every quarter and say, hey I am not broke. When I do by a stock, its a small amount and it is usually something that I just am a fan of, like McDonalds. Short selling to me is selling a pair of shorts on sale. I leave the financial stuff to Mrs Duck, she really gets it.

But, if you want some sort of hint on how things are going, watch the stock prices of Sovereign Bank and Washington Mutual. If they go out, we are in a heap of trouble.Sparky Duckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10599649584020982942noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8158674.post-64966272982411728192008-09-12T05:00:00.001-04:002008-09-21T20:14:08.072-04:00Why would this song rattle in my head?Sparky Duckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10599649584020982942noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8158674.post-21944849302617736422008-09-11T00:01:00.000-04:002008-09-10T23:22:30.270-04:00Thursday Thirteen #66-Things that get me through 9/11Yes, today is not exactly a chipper day. Win!Yes, ladies and gentleman, it is Fantasy Football! And yes, I won my first game out this week, thanks partly to the fact that Drew Brees and Reggie Bush decided to blow up points wise, but also because Tom Brady had a figurative arrow jammed in his knee. And really, a win is a win and I will take it.

The funniest thing is that this weeks opponent has Matt Leinart as his backup. Coincidentally, Leinhart is also the back up for the Arizona Cardinals. That is synergy and perhaps a second win for ole Sparky.

And of course, when I mention football, its time for a egregious Cheerleader picture. Which of course is great news for you, my lovely readers.

1.We are used to the teams from out in the Pacific Time Zone being the BCS Busters in college football. After watching what East Carolina did to West Virginia yesterday and what they did to the Hokies of Va Tech last week, they could be this years buster.

2.Joe Biden did adequate at best today on Meet The Press. It was almost like he was not awake until 11 am. Not the best start, though at least he was in front of the press as opposed to some other candidates.

3.As I type, Jake Delhomme hits some dude named Rosario to get a Carolina win. The games today were dull, but they finished well!

4.I grabbed the meatloaf from the oven last night and now it seems that I may have an alien growing out of my thumb. Or its a high 1st degree burn. Though alien sounds sexier.

5.Speaking of sexy...Google Haley Bang

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_U0oH-zYTkRY/SMRiotoW0qI/AAAAAAAABAY/ek2DQLU06ds/s400/haleybang.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5243424317749252770" />Sparky Duckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10599649584020982942noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8158674.post-45204935032667686952008-09-06T20:21:00.002-04:002008-09-06T20:27:01.978-04:00Hanna and her dropletsYes, TS Hanna has rained down on the I-95 corridor today. And while we have only have a few hiccups power wise, it has still been a rainy yucky day. I said during the week that I was looking forward to a down day. At abou 3pm, I was cursing down days!

This also was not a day to bet with Sparky Duck. While I just missed hitting 2 exactas because I was cheap, almost every team I rooted for in College football managed to find a way to lose, the most appalling was Washington vs BYU, but I will kevetch about that at another time. In the end, it was not the day to bankroll Sparky.

I did love how MSG Plus said on there little scoreboard screen below the game, said that Texas Tech was losing to Nevada 42 to 17. Nevermind that is is 8:30 now and the game is just kicking off.Sparky Duckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10599649584020982942noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8158674.post-11453175222785113732008-09-06T00:22:00.001-04:002008-09-06T00:24:04.097-04:00The Silence of the Republican Party is deafeningSparky Duckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10599649584020982942noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8158674.post-41490713855162068522008-09-05T16:02:00.002-04:002008-09-05T16:06:52.546-04:00McCain:What the Hell?I was able to muddle through the John McCain acceptance speech last night and he lived up to about the level of expectations that I thought he would live up to. Kinda of fitful, vague, but at least professional and adequate. Just about where I thought he would be, especially since it is a well known fact Senator McCain is not a fan of teleprompters.

But, really, what I have to ask is how we think the McCain people feel as the Palin sideshow continues to take center stage. She got one of the biggest applause moments of the speech yesterday, just by the mention of her name. She has seemed to energize the base to get out and show up for speeches and rallies. Its all she, she, she.

Of course, she is running for Vice President and not President, she will not be the power center for the next 4 years, she will be an advisor to the President. She is not actually running for President.

Or is she?Sparky Duckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10599649584020982942noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8158674.post-149924508036185362008-09-04T19:45:00.003-04:002008-09-04T20:04:11.809-04:00The Ladder by Mrs DuckOn an editors note, I am proud to say all I did on this post was a little spell check

A womans role has always been out of reach for most American women. Women are expected to be a Wife and mother first and everything else should come second. Men do not have these same pressures, but this is not the fault of men it is the fault of women. Most of us have to go to work everyday to support our families and must choose to either hire someone else to do the job at home or stay home and make ends meet. Some of us are luckier then others and they can choose. Some of us must go to work because we need to provide for there families. In either case there is something or someone who is not getting the attention they deserve.

Who raised the ladder? I truly think it is unfair that the ladder has been raised to this level. The reason no one asks men this question is that we do not expect men to climb the ladder this high.

What women should be shouting is that the ladder is too high and that we are expected to do it all, from being a wife, mother to our children, full time household duties, and not to mention a full-time career. How is it possible that something does not suffer? No one is saying what suffers, but something will. All working wife's and mothers know that they cannot do it all, it is too exhausting and physically impossible.

So how do we cope with this when we want the full-time career, or if we have to work to provide for our families?

Who is going to provide the love we cannot be there to provide full time?

Who will run the household responsibilities?

Who will make dinner? Who stays home when the child is sick?

Who provides the much needed hug when the children fall down and need that hug?

Who is going to work on homework and school projects? Who is attending the sporting events or watching the school play?

Who looks for the lost car keys?

Who is there for there spouse when he/she needs your help or advice?

Who is paying attention?

Who is attending the 8AM board meeting?

Who is schoomizing the clients?

Who is getting up at 4AM to catch the flight to the out of town meeting?

Who is staying to finish the monthly management reports?

We, as woman, hope to fit in all of our responsibilities of the day and hope that we are doing the best job we can, but believe me something or someone suffers. I believe the answer to who, is the WOMAN. The expectation to be the everything person is just to hard and unfair of a job for anyone. The only person who is sacrificed at the end of the day is the woman and the guilt of not being the best we can be at everything we touch. It is impossible to give 100% at work and at home everyday all day. The expectation is what is unfair. I do not believe this is the American Dream!Sparky Duckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10599649584020982942noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8158674.post-33318816615238485722008-09-04T12:28:00.003-04:002008-09-04T12:40:18.435-04:00Back from Vacation, really<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_U0oH-zYTkRY/SMAPT7KlJZI/AAAAAAAABAQ/D4iA2ieUhEs/s400/p89971-Cape_May-The_Abbey.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242206801233257874" />

Though if you were paying attention, I sort of wandered in and out yesterday.

But, Mrs Duck and I are now back from a lovely time with friends at the Cape, and smartly, we took the rest of this week off. Going back to work midweek after a vacation is one of the stupidest ideas that I swear I will never ever do again. Of course, I have thoughts rattling around in my brain, so lets get em out.

1.I missed the best football game on the college football level because I could not find it. East Carolina blocking a punt and running it back for a touchdown to beat VaTech at its own game had to be exciting to see. For someone...

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_U0oH-zYTkRY/SMAOrcAWhKI/AAAAAAAABAI/OJIR7FP9TvI/s400/TJlee.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242206105674089634" />
2.Joe Lieberman is not a Democrat, I wish he would just stop saying that he is. The party kicked his ass out in Connecticut, so stop misleading everyone already.

3.Sarah Palin made my balls shrink occasionally last night, almost as much as the Jersey Shore ocean water did the day before.

4.Hurricane Hanna is bearing down on the Southeast coast and is going to make a mess of a weekend for us folks along the I-95 corridor. For some reason, I do not really mind.Sparky Duckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10599649584020982942noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8158674.post-60419996157341633812008-09-04T10:00:00.000-04:002008-09-04T10:00:00.343-04:00Palin's Bridge to Nowhere<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_U0oH-zYTkRY/SL9dlXmObeI/AAAAAAAABAA/ThI1uyG_cUE/s400/bridgetono.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5242011387853434338" />

mhmm, for it before I was against it.Sparky Duckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10599649584020982942noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8158674.post-53986985195236264072008-09-03T23:30:00.001-04:002008-09-03T23:30:00.705-04:00Vacation-Politics & Porn 4-SarahSarah Palin is the governor of Alaska and also John McCain's running mate.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_U0oH-zYTkRY/SLq5O5OmwCI/AAAAAAAAA_s/5pP-pA8Dhso/s400/sarahpalin.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5240704781930381346" />

Sarah Jessie is a blonde bombshell.
