I thought I'd show some of the stuff I've been working on lately. For those who dont know, my senior project is building a small business doing silkscreen t-shirts. So to learn the silkscreen aspect I've been going to a class in the city at SVA. This work is my 3rd piece ever working with silkscreening. And I put over 12 hours into making 19 pieces of art. I will try to explain the process through these pictures:

I am taping my screen here so that the water doesn't get in and warp the board.

The board is fully taped.

The exposure takes place.

This part is a little more complicated to explain. Before, in a dark room, put a coating called emulsion on the flat side of my screen. Emulsion is a light sensitive substance. Once the emulsion is dry you put it in the exposing maching directly on top of your piece of art. You piece of art must be on a paper that lets light through where there is no drawing but prevents the light from coming through where there is. Where the light comes through (ie in the open areas around your drawing) the emulsion is developed, no paint can get through. Where the light did not penetrate (ie your drawing) the emulsion is still wet and can be washed away so that your screen is still open in those areas.

You can see my original art here. On the screen, the darker yellow is the exposed emulsion. And the light yellow is the unexposed emulsion, it is where the paint will go through the screen.

Now for the Printing:

The first screen

The process is not as complicated as setting up the screen, but it is very time consuming. Each screen you make is only for one part of your drawing/art. So you can use many different colors but to put my whole piece together I had to make 4 different screen. going through the same process each time. And then on top of that to change the color in any single screen required a full wash, dry, and realignment, as well as mixing the paint and cutting the paper. But here are the results:

To start off with, all of these themes require a jailbroken iPhone or iPod Touch with WinterBoard installed. If you need help getting that installed just leave a comment, but I may do a guide later on. Also many of these themes may not have a custom icon for every single app. However I will try to include the forum threads or DevientART page where you can find updates/ request icons. This list is in no particular order, it is just a list of my personal favorites.

1. Radiance/ Radiance 2 - Shubham Kedia

This theme is very well designed. The icons are heavily modified in a tasteful and beautiful way. (as they are in almost all of these themes) Probably the best thing is how much these colors pop off of the screen. To cap it all off there is a huge amount of extra custom icons for almost every app you need. And even icons that aren't skinned for this theme fit very well with this theme making it unique in that way. This has been one of my favorites for a long time.

2. Glaskart - Max Rudberg

"Out-of-the-way transparent Winterboard theme that let's you really showcase your wallpaper. Glasklart is swedish, word by word it means "glass clear".
Now includes 1500+ icons! 120 I created on my own, the rest has been graciously crafted by the MacThemes community
The theme also comes with custom badges, lock screen sliders, popup dialogs and SMS bubbles.
Best combined with the "User Wallpaper" theme in Winterboard."

This theme is so unique. It is a far cry from the original iPhone theme, with transparent icons and a new unlock screen. You can use any background you want, it can create some really nice effects. It has nice new skin for notifications and the homescreen iPod controls. Of all of the themes I have tried this one has the most icons. This is currently my favorite theme.

3. Gradiance v 3.0 - misecia

Over 1400 icons, UI elements, lockscreen, wallpapers, LiveTime theme, Weather theme.

This theme is superb. There are so many icons and the detail in each is amazing. It is a very laid back theme, not too flashy but very very useable. The author is very dedicated and there is huge community support. The author also contributed greatly to the Radiance theme. Much like the Radiance theme, unmodded icons look fine in this theme giving it great versatility.

4. Matt Nano - by Shubham Kedia and Pierre Breteau

This theme is really beautiful. It is slick and clean looking. The icons are all smaller, making it perfect or Five icon Dock, or Fivelrow (I will cover these addons in a different post) There is a huge member following so basically any icon is available. The one drawback is that if you cannot find a custom icon the original icon looks very out of place. But over all it is a great theme.

5. Classica - Dustin

"With no further avail, I present Classica, my attempt at an iPhone/iPod replacement set in the default style."

This theme is for those who want to keep that classic iPhone look with the minimal variation. In my opinion it cleans up the default UI, it seems more professional and sharp. The added plus is that of default icon of any app fits in very well with this app because the shape is almost indistinguishable.

6. Rohmer - Zack Schiller

This theme, much like Gradiance, is subtle and calm. I love the design and care put into each icon. It has such a minimalist feel. However there is not as much of a following for this app, so the icon support is limited.

7. ChocoMilk/Black Neon Agua- Tofeenut

ChocoMilk Includes:
- 208 icons
- Wallpaper, StatusBar, Dock
- Info.plist for Kate.app
- Template (PSD file)
- Styles set for Photoshop

Black Neon Agua Version 3 Includes:
- 270+ icons of stock applications and the more popular 3rd party applications
- 2 PSD templates (basic and original + guides/instructions)
- StatusBar, Wallpaper and Dock

These themes are similar in appearance, very dark and flashy at the same time. Fun to show off to your friends. However if all of your icons are not customized or atleast grouped together this looks silly. But still one of the best looking themes out there.

The High Line

The High Line is now open! We hope you'll visit us in the coming days and weeks. Before you come to the High Line, there are a few things you should know:

Location: The High Line is located on the West Side of Manhattan. The first section runs from Gansevoort Street, in the Meatpacking District, to West 20th Street, in Chelsea, between Tenth and Eleventh Avenues.

Getting There by Subway or Bus: A/C/E/L to 14th Street and 8th Avenue; M14 bus to 14th Street and 9th Avenue.

Access Points: Because of the large number of visitors we expect in this initial opening period, we ask that visitors enter from the Gansevoort Access Point, located at Gansevoort and Washington Streets, unless you are in need of an elevator. Elevator access is located at 16th Street. You may exit the park at any of the access points. Section 1 access points are located at:

Gansevoort Street
14th Street (Elevator access will be available beginning in July.)
16th Street (elevator access)
18th Street
20th Street
Please note that after our initial opening period, all access points will serve as both entrances and exits.
