No More Leaky Faucet

This weekend might have been stressful, but I don't have a leaky shower faucet anymore! Since I have moved into my house, my shower always had some sort of leak. My husband usually every few months has been able to do a quick little fix by replacing some sort of little rubber piece. Yesterday, we heard a nose when he was attempting to fix the faucet that we had not heard before. That little nose meant instead of having a slow little leak, the cold water was stuck on pretty full speed. We had to shut the main water valve off to prevent my bathroom from overflowing with water.

You know that saying it is not what you know, but who you know. That saying played its part yesterday for us. Luckily my husband knows someone who is a plumber that was able to fix the problem yesterday. Now they had to cut into the wall to replace the plumbing, but it was worth it. The handy plumber also installed our new shower head system that my mom bought me for Christmas a couple years ago. I feel like I have a new bathroom right now!

The Joys Of Shopping

This year I have started my Christmas shopping earlier than I normally do. I have actually bought things here and there the last month or so. Then Thanksgiving night, my husband and I hit up Walmart just to see if it was going to be busy. We got there at a little after 9pm. Our Walmart is 24 hours so I was wondering how the 5am sales were going to work. The store had special areas in the stores for each hot item in the ad and people were already in line when we got there. I could not imagine sitting in a store all night just to get a price break on something. I seen people with their kids sleeping in shopping carts with blankets and pillows.

Yesterday on Black Friday, I hit the stores in morning. I did not get up at the crack of dawn though. I waited until about 9am after the mad rushes had left. I still was able to get some stuff in the store ads even 4 or 5 hours after the sales had started. I feel pretty good that already got some of the gifts for the kids out of the way.

Are You Ready For Thanksgiving?

I am going to be cooking this year for Thanksgiving and probably have got my hands full. We bought both a turkey and a ham. I am not sure if I want to cook the ham the night before since I only have one oven. I have been thinking of what else I am going to prepare. I am on a low calorie diet and I am going to have to be careful that day.

Do you do anything special to prepare your turkey? What I do is lift up the skin on the bird and place butter under the skin. I have done this the last couple times I have cooked a turkey and it comes out pretty good. My friend also recommended brining the turkey first. This entails letting your turkey soak overnight in a salt based solution. She says her turkeys come out nice and juicy. Facebook Can Be Addicting

I am glad that I did not take a liking to Facebook sooner that I already have. I joined Facebook a couple years ago if not more, but never really logged in but a few times here and there. A few months ago, I started messing with it more and now I am addicted.

Not only is it fun to chat online with your friend and family, the games are super addicting. There is a game called Cafe World. Its a little virtual reality game where you create meals for customers and customize your own little cafe. I find myself working more at my online cafe then on other things. Hopefully I will get bored with it soon.

Rada Pro Nail Station Review

Since I have 3 daughters, you know there is quite a bit of painting nails that goes on in my home. I think they might get it from their momma though! I am one that always has to have my toe nails painted, especially during the spring and summer when I wear my flip flops the most. I am not picky about my fingernails, but I won't leave the house without polish on the toes!

I recently have been using something that makes painting my nails easier and even a little organized. Thanks to It's A Glam Thing and Rada Pro, I received the handy Rada Pro Nail Station to review. This nail station includes the hand/foot support stand, polish holder, accessory tray for your cotton swabs and such, polish remover pump bottle and two washable cotton slip covers for the hand/foot stand.

My favorite part about the nail station is the fact that you can use it to paint your toenails. To give yourself a pedicure, just sit and position the nail station on the floor in front of you. Place your foot on the support and move your accessory tray to a convenient position. Then start painting! I love going to the salon to get my nails done, but I prefer to paint my own toes! Another cool feature is the nail polish bottle holder. It has been designed to hold a variety of bottle shapes and sizes. It tilts to allow you to get the perfect angle for every bottle of polish you use.

If you love to give yourself manicures or pedicures, you might just want to spoil yourself with one of the nail stations. It would make a great gift for that Diva on your shopping list too! The only thing that I might suggest for this products is more color choices. It currently is available in the color that you see in the images.

Easy Chicken Dorito Casserole

On Halloween I was at my mother in laws house and tried Chicken Dorito Casserole for the first time. It was my first time actually even hearing about it. The next day I thought I would look online for the recipe. To my surprise, there were tons of different varieties of the recipe. On Cooks.com, there are 249 recipes for Chicken Dorito Casserole. I found a simple recipe and added a few steps of my own and it turned out great. It was one of those meals that had no leftovers.

Okay, you interested in making a Chicken Dorito Casserole? Below is my recipe.

Ingredients:

5 to 6 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 can cream of chicken
1 can cream of mushroom
1 bag of Doritos
grated cheese

Directions:

Cut the chicken breasts in cubes and boil until done. I used a chicken boulion when boiling my chicken but this is not necessary. Remove chicken from pot and save broth.

You then want to crush about half a bag of Doritos into the bottom of a casserole dish. I had the small 12 oz bag of chips. Mix the two cans of soup together. If you don't like cream of mushroom, use two cans of cream of chicken. Layer the top of the chips with chicken. Then pour about a 1 cup of broth over the chicken and chips. Then pour the soup mixture on top. You will then want to cover with the grated cheese.

Bake at 350 for 35 minutes

P.S. You can add chopped chilies, onions, tomatoes, etc to make it even yummier!

You know that saying that a diamonds are a girl's best friend? Well I think that is true when it comes to gold, especially platinum. It is amazing how the price of gold can increase too! I always see those commercials about sending your gold in for cash. While that sounds like a good way to make money, I would never send any of my jewelry in an envelope to some place in some other state. I just don't trust it.

A Wild Soap Bar Review

If I was to pick out a bar of soap that is my favorite, it would probably be one that is handmade and included oatmeal. I just have a LOVE for handmade soap. I used to even make my own a few years back for fun.

For Those Who Buy Formula

Are you a mom that only buys name brand baby formula? I have to admit that I try to buy name brand, but sometimes you got to go with the cheaper brand. Luckily I worked retail in the past and learned that many of the products that have store brand labels are just as good as the name brand stuff. So if there is big enough price difference between the generic and the name brand, I will probably go with the generic to save money for my family.

My son is now just on milk, but just earlier this year when he was still drinking formula, he was using the Walmart store brand formula called Parents Choice. I think this brand is just as good as the others. I have also heard that Walmart is having a special on this formula for 2 cans for only $10. For those of you that are using formula or will be, you might want to stock up! For those that are on the WIC program and having your formula cut back, this is a good alternative.Their is a useful calculator on the website that will help you see how much using Parents Choice over other national brands will save you. While breastfeeding is the best option to go for when your babies are newborns, it is not always an option and you will have to use formula.

Hannah And Her Fish

This past weekend was the Harvest Festival at my daughter's school. The school puts on this little event to raise money every year. I went to the same school for two years when I was a child and remember the Harvest Festival then too!

This year they had a game where you could win a fish. You know like at the carnival. This was the first year that I have seen them do this. Hannah won herself a new fish all on her own. She was so proud. I am just hoping it lives! It has almost been a week and it is still hanging in there.

Lately, I have an obsession for tea. It first started when I tried the Lipton instant raspberry mix. Then I recently receive a coupon for a free Lipton product. I ended up buying a box of Lipton Cold Brew. With these, you place two bags in a pitcher with cold water and it ready in minutes. I think I have found an alternate for soda.

There are so many different types of tea that I want to try like white tea. I have one of those Keurig coffee brewers that you can buy tea for too! I love both iced tea as well as hot tea.

Last Minute Costume Decisions

I still need to buy Halloween costumes for the kids. At least I still have a week left. This year is going to be fun with my son. He is almost 2 and able to walk to the doors with his sisters this year. Last year I dressed him up as a turtle but he was along for the walk in his stroller. I think this year I might dress him up as a cowboy. My mother in law gave us his dad's cowboy hat from when he was small along with a vest. I thought it would be cute to use those 2 things for part of his costume.

I was looking online at costumes for my oldest daughter Ariyona. She is twelve and can be picky. I am wondering that the "in" costumes are this year for twelve year old girls. I was at Costume Hub earlier today looking to get ideas on Kids Halloween Costumes along with Adult Halloween Costumes.

The Joys Of On Demand

I am one of those fans of the On Demand service. My youngest children are huge fans of Spongebob. I think we have seen almost every episode more than once With my my On Demand service, we have access to episodes of Spongebob 24 hours a day! If you have the Charter cable service, you probably are familiar with On Demand as well. It has over 6,000 movies you can watch with the click of your remote. I am not the only one in my family who loves this service, I think even my 5 year old knows how to use it.

With On Demand, I save the hassle of going to the video store to rent a movie. Now there are certain movies that I will have to go rent if I want to watch them. When you can't find anything on any of your favorite channels, this is the best next place to search for something to watch. I had someone try to switch me to another tv subscription service that did not offer On Demand and I said no way!

What Does Your T-Shirt Say?

One of my most favorite items of clothing to wear would be a t-shirt. They are simple and best of all comfortable. This mom must work at home in comfort. Writing A List Of Wants For My Home

I don't know about you, but most of my extra money goes for buying stuff for the kids, entertainment, fast food, etc. I have decided that I want to make a list of things I want to do and buy for the house. I want to list small things such as buy blinds for the bedroom window to remodeling the bathroom. With doing this, I am going to make goals that will allow me to make more money to buy more luxuries for my family. I can't check off things on my list without making and saving more money.

I really would love to remodel the kitchen very soon. My counters are the originals from when the house was built in 1958. Do you know how much I would love to have new granite countertops put in my kitchen and a new Granite Kitchen Sink? Having a new and remodeled kitchen would get my husband more of a variety of cooked meals, wink wink.
