For this to be a service oriented industry, i can't believe how rude the people are! They don't say please, thank you, or hello, kiss my ass, go to hell, nothing! Can't believe they get tips, for such shitty service. The schools are always at the bottom for education, classrooms have 30+ kids in them (with no teacher aides) and a lot of the teachers were told they had a job until the beginning of the school year, and then all of a sudden, no money to pay them! Billion dollar hotels as far as you can see, but no money to teach kids. I know people who bought a $350k dollar house with $1k down making $10 an hour. No wonder Vegas leads the country in foreclosure. Driving here is the worst i have ever seen, and i am a proffessional driver from New York, so i have seen crazy things, but not like here. This place is hot, dusty, cultureless, a shithole, unless you have money to gamble and drink daily. Food is tasteless, expensive, and usually served by people who can't speak english. What a shit hole!!!!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8104253.post-14293012229248959852009-06-28T00:30:56.352-05:002009-06-28T00:30:56.352-05:00I have lived here since 1995. Wow, almost half of ...I have lived here since 1995. Wow, almost half of my life is gone. I worked for CCSD, got ran out because I refused to lie about special needs kids. Go figure, the principal had zero integrity and only cared about money. You can't feed the homelss, churches are fake and lame, people are fake, weather sucks (hot or windy), gas is expensive, no good jobs, bosses treat you poorly, co-workers back-stab,power bills are way too high and constantly increasing, Metro are cowboys, girls are all plastic, dumb, or way too fat, dust everywhere, roads suck, strip is too crowded, and neighbors park their piece of junk car in front of my house intead of in their driveway. How can I get out of here? I want to so badly.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8104253.post-35584730048926271882009-06-13T22:23:16.509-05:002009-06-13T22:23:16.509-05:00Just got back from Vegas about 6 hours ago. I stayed on the strip, against my will (trade convention). It was full of wasted people, dopers, whores, gamblers, and peddlers. I feel fortunate to have escaped, and will never return. I have travelled and been in some bad places, but Vegas took it to a new level.Eric Leenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8104253.post-45458393094598703942009-05-06T19:19:00.000-05:002009-05-06T19:19:00.000-05:00Good to know i'm not alone, i hate Vegas also!Good to know i'm not alone, i hate Vegas also!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8104253.post-26427112694558144602009-05-04T11:35:00.000-05:002009-05-04T11:35:00.000-05:00What I HATE about Vegas is weather!!!! So I ended up in Vegas due to a few reasons (which is a long story) and I just switched miserable St. Petersburg's weather to dreadful 6 months of summer, sweat, a/c and other stuff. I just cant stand this climate, not speaking about my hair becoming like a straw and skin like sand paper.

TRAFFIC - SUCKS!!! Somebody said above that it takes forever. It does!!! Its unbelievable.

Im a photographer and need art scene around me which is not present here as it is on the East Coast. This is my second time moving back to Vegas. I seem to have a love/hate relationship with it, but it's turned to full on HATRED.

I also typed in, "I hate Las Vegas" to help me make my decision to leave. Since I've moved back I've had a HORRIBLE time finding ANY type of work. I know and network with a lot of people and STILL CAN'T FIND A JOB! There is NO sense of professionalism out here and do not trust anyone. This town is filled with shady shady people. Even businessmen who make up businesses just to meet women! I could go on and on with stories.

I knew my life started to sprial out when I would network with anyone and everyone at the gym, bank, friends, ect for any type of job: cocktailing, office management, hospitality - and people would sarcastically tell me to get into porn or be a stripper. I moved to Vegas for the lovely warm weather, but this winter has been uncomfortably cold.

I love all the industry that comes through Vegas - and I moved here to start a band and even the local music scene here is HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE TALENTLESS musicians all SHIT TALKING EACH OTHER!!!!!! The people are FLAKEY west COAST, illiterate, uneducated, scum.

I agree with you guys - no sense of community and it seems the only fun here to be had is getting drunk and using drugs. Vegas is very unhealthy.

I'm not sure where to go. I'm considering Austin, TX or Chicago where I'm originally from. It's just so damn cold there. I moved from Denver and have no desire to return there as I find that city BORING.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8104253.post-37934793734193001102009-03-24T19:46:00.000-05:002009-03-24T19:46:00.000-05:00I'm here for a convention. Outside of the city loo...I'm here for a convention. Outside of the city looks beautiful with the mountains and desert. But inside the city is just depressing and nasty. I saw a used tampon outside of the Riviera. The HILTON is gross and isn't clean. I'm pretty sure someone smoked in my 'non-smoking' room.

The whole place is creepy.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8104253.post-27855482015560418022009-03-23T11:48:00.000-05:002009-03-23T11:48:00.000-05:00I have been in Las Vegas for 7 years now. This is...I have been in Las Vegas for 7 years now. This is the most heartless, souless hell hole that ever was. Here are the reasons:

1) Everything is built upon a FAKE foundation. They don't even try to be classy here...it is all plastic and tinsel and trash. Shows and gambling and shopping and drinking and strip clubs do not lead anyone to peace or happiness. They leave people spiritually and financially bankrupt. All of the so called decent jobs rely on the institutions of corruption. We are all connected to the gaping jaws of hell here. Most people who live here wish they could live somewhere else. There is no neighborly connectedness, or very little of it.

2) The weather is horrid.
The summer is too hot...120 sometimes, and when the temperatures are bearable the wind kicks in and beats the living shit out of you. When the rain comes, once in a great while, it is immedately followed by a giant blow dryer wind so any water that was given is taken back with interest. I cannot believe the effort it takes to get something other than cacti and other wild desert plants to survive. I try to grow a few vegetables and the crazy weather makes it nearly impossible. Plus...all that dust/cement/polution in the air is circulating around my plants so how healthy can they be? I never experienced allergies until I moved here and now every "spring" I am so sickened with them that I can hardly function.

3) Driving here is a nightmare. You are surrounded by people from all over the world who have very different ideas of how one should drive. There are too many cars for the road. Aggresivity is rampant and there is no escaping it. Walkers beware..Las Vegas drivers DO NOT stop for crosswalks.

4) Where there is the possability for beauty, there is trash. It is everywhere...even Mt. Charleston is trashy. The surrounding desert is filled with the garbage that blows from this polluted city. I never saw people blatantly throwing their bags of waste out of their cars like I do here. I even saw some people throw a dirty diaper out the widow! You just can't get away from it...I guess they hate this city too and don't give a crap about making it even ore disgusting.

5) We tried. We REALLY tried. We have hiked all of the local areas, sailed a sailboat on Lake Mead, bought a house, planted flowers and cacti and tried to get to know our neighbors. We still feel isolated and desperate to get away from here. And now our home is worth about half what we are paying for it. We may have to simply walk away with nothing just to save ourselves from suicide of the soul.tuliahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14766837996993736783noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8104253.post-6780352162521282092009-03-22T23:08:00.000-05:002009-03-22T23:08:00.000-05:00I agree. I never saw so many angry, rude and ignorant workers in one city. It started from when we arrived to the airport and left the airport.
We stayed at what is now called Planet Hollywood. In 2000, I had a pretty good experience at that hotel when it was Aladins. All the staff were rude, if we left the casino we were harrassed by people selling Timeshares, and when we asked some European staff member for a better exit to the strip (that did not involve a dark dangerous looking exit, with No security), she was very irrate with my mom. I had worked overtime to treat my mom for that trip, so I called her on it, and told her she was unprofessional. She started yelling at me, pointing her finger in my face and threatened to call security and have me "thrown out". Planet Hollywood, YOU SUCK! I hope you have to file for bankruptcy. If I had the authority, I would have raided the place for those snotty women and send them back to were they came from. By the way, why hasn't anyone enforced INS laws in that place, what a clean up that would be. Any restaurant we tried, all the staff were hateful, but expect a tip. The cab drivers would yell and swell at anyone, drive reckless...we were almost T-boned going into the LUXOR. I saw other guests, upset, angry and got onto an elevator with an upset man who punched the walls, no security came. That place must suck the life out of people. You couldn't pay me enough to work in their crappy hospitals. The country would be better off without Las Vegas and all the destruction it seems to create. I am not a Holy Roller, but it is easy to see and experience the evil that city possesses.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8104253.post-73712859876062367082009-01-12T20:46:00.000-06:002009-01-12T20:46:00.000-06:00JAN 5TH 2009 I AM OUT OF LAS VEGAS FOR GOOD!!! I've danced in nightclubs where I'm from originally, and got paid. I was fully clothed, and it was about talent, not sex. I came here to see if I could get noticed. Maybe do something with my dancing before i'm too old to do it anymore.

What I did come here and find is that these dancers that are hired here are all about sex and little on talent.
Don't get me wrong, there is talent here. The shows have plenty of it. It's just if you don't have breasts in this town you go nowhere.
Dancing in the nightclubs here is a nightmare. People here don't pay attention to their surroundings.
They run right into you. The women are the most scandlous, drunken, selfish beings that I have ever encountered. I can just look at them and tell what they are about... money and themselves. ick. Most of them suffer from what I call the coke diet. They do so many drugs, and drink so much, that they are unhealthy thin. The thing is that at some point, they had breast implants...as with alot of women in this town. So you have this distorted monster with huge breasts and nothing much else... Oh and I almost forgot, you ahve these 40 plus women running around these places too. Acting half their age, bending over in positions that anyone shouldn't be doing in public. I'm all about everyone having fun, but seriously try have some composure when doing it. Plus if you try to have an intelligent conversation with any of these people.... good luck.
The guys are not much better, being a guy myself, and being raised right, I know there is stuff that you just don't do.
Like basically molest women when your at a club. I don't know, maybe I'm the minority here, but grabbing girls breasts and rears when they don't even know you seems kinda, well... rude?
The only good thing about clubs here is that when they see you around enough you start getting in for free. And they have locals night which is cool also. But everywhere you go in this town it's the same thing over and over. The same music. I was at a club last night and I heard several of the songs at least 3 times. Seriously people there is a lot of music out there. You can have some sort of variety. Everywhere plays the same tracks. Top 40 mix or house. Rarely will you get anything different.

Everyday in this town is like the movie Idiotocracy. The guys are stupid and will do anything for sex, and the women are dumb and slutty... or mental. There are exceptions to this, but the vast majority here is like that.

Jobs is my next rant. You can't find a job in this town unless you know somebody that works there. It seems that they don't look oat experience or education when it comes to some of their hiring decisions. And everyone does their job half assed here. They have no pride in their job. But the employers treat their employees like trash. Plus they pay as little as they can out here. You would make a few dollars more in most jobs than they would pay out here. You can try to get in with a casino, but you run into simular problems. I work for an airline out here, and I'm probably going to hell for what they have me do to their passengers. But i can't find another job, although i have 8 years experience in the field that I'm not currently in. It's absurd.
So I going to run away from this town as soon as I can....
After living here for a year i just want to move somewhere small where I can find peace and sanity. Where people are real and not flaky slime that only wnats to see what they can use you for.

Anybody moving here... Good Luck.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8104253.post-70152169948866565442009-01-09T22:48:00.000-06:002009-01-09T22:48:00.000-06:00I just left a vacation in Vegas and had a feeling ...I just left a vacation in Vegas and had a feeling of dread the entire time. I enjoy observing people and architecture but the people and the buildings in Vegas were fabricated and hollow. Once you got inside all of the casinos looked the same, all of the same games, the same noises and the same sad sacks throwing away their social security on penny machines. A man could barely get out of his wheelchair to keep hitting the spin button on a machine. It was the most depressing thing I have ever seen.

The strip sidewalk was filled with hordes of the "card-flippers" which were entertaining at first but soon made me ANGRY! I've never been so angry as I have been in Vegas. Everything irritated me and I got into a huge fight with the person I came with as a result.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8104253.post-49450739668126153822009-01-02T13:09:00.000-06:002009-01-02T13:09:00.000-06:00http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28469946/?GT1=43001http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28469946/?GT1=43001Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8104253.post-31898170700809773942008-12-16T23:30:00.000-06:002008-12-16T23:30:00.000-06:00Yes YES YESSSS!!!! The economy is in the toilet and much worse than the rest of the nations REAL cities. Empty (foreclosed) homes are everywhere. Homes are now 19% under value. Gaming revenues were down 23% in October. That is the biggest drop ever recorded. Tourism is way down too; 10%

Everyone I know, including myself, who just wants to get the hell out of here can't because we are all stuck to our homes. Most of us are upside down, and even if we could sell and break even, no one is buying.

I'm so pissed off I wasted six years of my life here. I have no one to blame but myself. As soon as things turn enough for me to get out of my house without foreclosing, I'm moving to a more stable part of the country with a little more diverse economy. It will also be nice to live somewhere that does not smell like a sewer.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8104253.post-78498604427819940222008-11-29T02:16:00.000-06:002008-11-29T02:16:00.000-06:00I agree with 95% of the comments here... and I bel...I agree with 95% of the comments here... and I believe after five years it's time for me to leave... but does anyone else here feel TRAPPED, as if they can't leave, that they are being forced to stay in some weird sadistic way?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8104253.post-58964602005167972782008-11-24T11:22:00.000-06:002008-11-24T11:22:00.000-06:005th Straight year Nevada the most dangerous state ...5th Straight year Nevada the most dangerous state
http://money.aol.com/mortgage/most-dangerous-statesAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8104253.post-76674367460646519192008-11-17T15:34:00.000-06:002008-11-17T15:34:00.000-06:00I have a friend that moved to Vegas a year ago. He told me last week that the entertainment, food and partying is now getting old and he's ready to move back. After 5 years o...I moved to Vegas is April of 2003. After 5 years of living in Sin City, last week I left for a better life out east. If you are thinking about moving here please seriously consider what not only I but others are saying. I wish I would have discovered a blog like this before I packed my truck. So far my only regret about moving from Las Vegas is I didn’t move sooner.

I worked as a corporate recruiter in Las Vegas for over 4 years and really discovered how shady not only the companies are but the labor pool is. Just go to a job fair in Vegas and you'll see the most worthless labor pool in existence. I had one recruiter who recruited the entire U.S told me out of all the offices nationwide LV is the only office they personally visit because of "issues".

Job stability if that even exists anymore certainly doesn’t in Vegas. Large nationwide companies (non-gaming) that are in Las Vegas many of their offices are considered troubled or the black sheep of the company. I have never encountered a more cutthroat culture inside and outside the workplace. Also along with all of this the economy is going to hell fast. After being black balled at one employer for not complying with unethical hiring practices **new management who thought they were going to break the law (aka discrimination) to solve their turnover problems** I looked for better place to work only to find myself laid off from two jobs in 6 months and losing half my income in a city that isn’t exactly affordable.

If you have an education your worthless and underpaid because the city doesn’t value education and if you are not educated you are treated worthless because you are not educated and most likely work a service and/or retail job where you are treated like crap by elitist types. It is not uncommon to find many people working 2 - 3 jobs to make ends meet.

The crime is horrible. Its not in one area of the city either, it is all over. I believe it was last spring for 3 or 4 weeks in a row there was a school shooting including the area of Summerlin, which killed a young man. With a broke school system that has a high school graduation rate of 44% you can expect most of those drop outs to fuel gangs which will lead to more crime. I have never seen such a large number of youth that seem so burned out. A local judge made a comment about the number of youth that come through his court with no dreams.

People are always asking for money in parking lots. The last place I stopped in Las Vegas was Cox Cable to drop off the cable box and there was someone in the parking lot on meth probably asking for money. Even if you are a strong willed person either gambling, sex, or drugs/alcohol may snag you here. I have never seen a population that looked so aged beyond their years and its more than just the heat. All the social ills you encounter in this town will turn you in a jaded individual that will began to dislike people.

Prositution, yeah its not as glamorous as the city makes it out to be , leads to more crime, more drugs and more dead bodies. Look at a Las Vegas phone book under Entertainers that is their sex industry which so happens to be the largest section of the phone book.

Las Vegas does have culture! Money worshipping, materialism and disposing of people for financial gain is the culture.

Driving is terrible! I have seen a higher volume of traffic in other cities but never the stupidity you see on the roads in Las Vegas. The DMV is a mess!

Casinos can’t just stay on the strip or close to it. No they have to invade every neighborhood in Las Vegas. Do they really need video poker machines in gas stations and grocery stores? Casinos are corrupt, morally bankrupt, whatever negative you choose to call them. They refused to allow a tax on comped buffets, which would have provided school books to children. They don’t pay well and I interviewed so many casino workers that were burnt out. The clubs at casinos suck! They hire models for their ads, pay b rate hollyweird stars to show up and charge $300 or more for a bottle and a table. Also look how payday/short term loan companies thrive in Las Vegas. Literally there is one on almost every corner. Addicts keep those places in business.

Illegal immigration will drive this city into the ground further. If you go two miles to the east or west of the strip there are a large number of visa workers/illegal immigrants that are being exploited by the gaming corporations. Once the new properties open, if they do, more foreign labor will be needed. They don’t seem to hire many Americans, just walk through the new properties.

I could rant for at least another page but will sum it up. Living in Vegas can truly desensitize someone. If you are wanting to leave I hope you can. If you are thinking about moving there, don’t unless you want yourself or a loved one to become a victim of a crime, addiction or God knows what else. The place is imploding so leave while you can. For those that have left I hope life is better. For those that want to leave I wish you the best.EastCoastMannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8104253.post-26096793012258121582008-11-14T02:15:00.000-06:002008-11-14T02:15:00.000-06:00I am currently in my hotel room, avoiding the fake...I am currently in my hotel room, avoiding the fake, sick surroundings. I was sent here for a conference, and googled 'hate las vegas'.

Only been here a few days but have seen enough.

I will never ever return to this heartless excuse for a city. If I can get my return flights brought forward I will.Andyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12056393882397969806noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8104253.post-69991327962699639072008-11-11T22:07:00.000-06:002008-11-11T22:07:00.000-06:00What has happened is predictable...
