To tell you everything about Hawaii...would take forever. One of these days, I'm going to get a photo album up online for everyone to look though. We took around 200 pictures and it was absolutely fantastic. I did things I never even dreamed I'd be able to do 100 pounds ago. I climbed up and down cliffy areas, and I snuba'd and I SURFED! I wore shorts in public and a bathing suit without shorts over it. I went sleeveless a lot and even wore a couple of uber::short skirts. The vacation was absolutely breathtaking. We saw the end of a rainbow, the sunrise over a volcanic crater, and went snorkeling in an underwater crater. We saw truely majestic sites and I can't wait to go back.

So I started a new job. I'm the office coordinator for a personnel service. I really am having a good time with it. When I finish a class that I'm taking for our training program, I'll be making $10/hr with really good benefits and a really nice working environment. The people I work with are really wonderful...they're all very caring and fun and easy to get a long with. I'm in the process of reorganizing all of their files and archiving from the past year and a half. Its a big undertaking, but I can do it. I get to see the bottom of my filing bin about once a week. I handle the payroll for all the people who work through us, because they get paid by us...not the company we sent them to, and I take care of all accounts recievable. Its a fun job, and I'm glad I found it.

On to knitting!
My cousin, Kelly, had her baby on January 1st (The second baby of the year!) and she LOVES Moses! According to everyone, its the only blanket she will use for little Hayley. It makes me feel good inside.
I cast on for her sister, Kerri's, blanket tonight. Kerri is having a boy, and I'm going to do the blanket in a knit/purl heart pattern. It is way cute. I found the perfect border stitch in my Stitch a day Calendar. Its going to be way cute!

I'M IN RAOK!!!! I'M IN RAOK!!!! I am SO EXCITED to be a member of that ring! Now that I'm getting a little bit more time to breathe, I'm going to be sending out some random acts.

After almost a month, I FINALLY got back to the yarn store to visit my favorite yarn ladies. It was so good to see them. We chatted about our lives and our knitting, and I showed off my Hawaii photo album, and I cast on for Kerri's blanket. Now that I actually have extra money to spend, I was able to buy a couple of books. I bought Stitch 'n Bitch, after borrowing it a few too many times from my friends, and the world's most ADOREABLE baby knits book. Its called Nursery Rhyme Knits by Teresa Boyer, and its all intarsia and fair isle patterns for hats, scarves, mittens and blankets for kids with nursery rhymes put into the patterns. They are SO DARN CUTE! Now I just need to learn how to knit fair isle and intarsia.

Secret pal 4! Secret pal 4! I can't wait for it to start! Tomorrow, I'll put up my Secret pal 4 information sheet. I'm sooooo excited to get my pal and start having secret-y goodness!

Well, that's all I've got for now! Man I've talked an awful lot. I think that's enough for now. I miss all my knitbloggers, and I'm glad to finally have the time to start getting my blog on again.

Until next time, knitters!

She-Knits-A-Lothttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08730012313234528408noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8086355.post-1105749457388723492005-01-14T18:36:00.000-06:002005-01-14T19:01:21.516-06:00I'm still here!I promise that I'm not dead yet!!

My 'yarn connection' (a friend that works for Michael's) picked up my yarn for Eyelet yesterday. I'm going to do it in Bernat Cotton Tots in Lemon Berry. I can't wait to start on it! I think I get the yarn tomorrow. Woohoo!

That's all I've got for now...until next time, knitters!

She-Knits-A-Lothttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08730012313234528408noreply@blogger.com22tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8086355.post-1102608432118301522004-12-09T09:40:00.000-06:002004-12-09T10:07:12.116-06:00UpdateI'm about 1 hour away from being done with my mom's slippers...I'm just majorly dragging ass on them. I think I'm going to make a hat and give my dad slipper yarn for christmas, as well as give my mom hat or scarf yarn with her slippers. The hackey sack for my brother may or may not happen...I'm not sure yet.

I have been bit with the selfish knitting bug...hard. I cast on a shawl for myself out of the beautiful alpaca yarn that my parents bought for me:

It will be loverly when its done. I like to have something cuddly soft to snuggle in when I'm here in the cold old house that is ours.

I'm also planning on making eyelet from the summer '03 edition of Knitty.

I am going to make some adjustments. I'm going to make it a bit bigger, to accomidate my larger-ness, and I'm going to take off about 6" of the lace at the bottom. I only want maybe 1-2 inches of the lace. Its going to be either bright bright yellow or bright bright orange, depending on what yarn is available to me, and how much it costs. It will function as a bathing suit cover up in Hawaii...so I have to get cracking. We're leaving for fun in the sun one week from Monday. I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
White sandy beaches here I come.

My brother and I are even going to take surfing lessons!

That's all I've got for now.

Until next time, knitters!

She-Knits-A-Lothttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08730012313234528408noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8086355.post-1102360277366405562004-12-06T15:11:00.000-06:002004-12-06T13:11:17.366-06:00Have I been hiding?No, just extremely busy.
Lets see...I finished one of the slippersocks for my mom and am close to being done with the second one. I bought yarn to make a pair for my dad, but I doubt that I'll get those done for christmas. I still need to decide what I'm giving to my brother and my boyfriend for christmas. I need to get something nice for Ken...its important to me. I guess he's getting me jewelry, but I don't know what kind. He really wants a Homestar Runner wrist band, so I think I'll make him one of those, but I don't know what else to get him. Anyone have some kickass suggestions?
He also wants a skull illusion scarf, which I think will be part of the christmas present, but that will be a long time coming. I have to write the chart for it and all.

I'm giving in my 2week notice to Lane Bryant today. I'm tired of dealing with the drama there, and I don't get paid enough to be worn out by this job. Its rediculous.

In other knitting news, I have Moses to the Mom to Be and she LOVED it! As chance would have it, I chose exactly the right color to match the baby room. How exciting is that?! I think I'll put up the pattern when the baby is born, and I can take a picture of her in it.

I finally settled on a baby blanket pattern for my other cousin...feather and fan lace in a limey green color. I think I'll do it on 8's.

I also decided that I'm going to make a shawl out of the alpaca yarn that my parents gave to me. I want to do just a simple garter stitch pattern, but would like the increases to be the YO's that go up the center. Does anyone have a pattern for that? I'd appreciate it!

I'm working on a couple of frou frou scarves to give away to relatives...I'm incredibly bored with them, and the eyelash yarn makes my hands sweat. Oh well...they look pretty.

I will be in Hawaii in two weeks!! I'm so so so so so excited. My brother and I are going to take surfing lessons!!!!!!!!!! I'm just totally thrilled.

Now I must be off to get my tan built up so I don't burn to a crisp.

Until next time, knitters!

She-Knits-A-Lothttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08730012313234528408noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8086355.post-1100843168293784412004-11-19T01:24:00.000-06:002004-11-18T23:46:33.366-06:00Pictures and FO's!The camera has finally come back from Philidelphia, so I have lots to share.

I FINISHED Moses!!!! Yay!!!! He looks lovely...about 35" square. I can't wait to give him away to my cousin next week. Time for pics and specs:
Pic:

The picture's a little dark. When I think of it, I'll lighten it up a bit.
Specs:
Needle size: US #9
Yarn: Caron Simply Soft in Victorian Rose, just over 4 skiens
Guage: 4 sts/6 rows per inch
Time: a whole lot

I'm glad to be done, and am ready to move onto something a bit more challenging.

Like a slipper sock! I'm making Fuzzy Feet from Knitty for my mom. Basically, you make a HUGE pair of socks and felt them. I'm about 1/2 done with the first one. Pic:

I'm knitting it up with Cascade 220 on 10 1/2 needles. I'm going to give them to her unfelted, and I'll felt them when we're both home so that they'll be a perfect fit. She can then walk around with them and another pair of socks on so that they block to her feet. It'll be good.

If these go quickly, I may make a pair for my Dad for christmas. I haven't decided yet. If I don't make him slippers, then I'll make him a hat.

Speaking of hats, I made three in the past two weeks, as well as one scarf. Here's two of the hats and a scarf:

Yeah...the pictures are kind of sucktacular today.
Specs:
The scarf is done in Hobby Lobby brand Elf eyelash yarn in Cameo held together with cream Caron Simply soft done up on US 11 needles

The blue hat (the one on the left) is the two hour hat pattern modified for a smaller head done up in LionBrand Wool Ease Thick & Quick and US 17 needles.

the green hat (on the right) is the Hot Hedd pattern from Stich'nBitch done in Cascade 128 and 10 1/2 needles.

I made another hat from the Hot Hedd pattern, but I don't have a picture of that yet.

My Holiday Knitting List:
Slippersocks for Mom
Hat or slippersocks for Dad
Hackey Sack for Joe
Wrist band and hat for Ken
Scarf for Avery
Scarf for Riely (done)
Hat for Colton
Hat for Andrew (done)
Scarves for aunts
Moses for cousin (done)
Baby hat for same cousin

So my mom went out to Philidelphia, and she and my dad took a day trip to Chesepeake City. While there, she went to Vulcan's Rest Fibers and got me a GORGEOUS 600 yard hank of hand spun, bulky weight Alpaca! It is soo luscious!
Pic!

I haven't decided what I'm going to do with it yet. It looks awfully cute sitting on my granny square afghan.

Okay, knitsters, that's all I've got for now!

Until next time, happy knitting!

She-Knits-A-Lothttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08730012313234528408noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8086355.post-1100457856213583122004-11-14T12:13:00.000-06:002004-11-14T12:44:16.213-06:00*Cricket Cricket*I have been neglecting my poor little blog horribly! How awful of me.

My life has been pretty crazy for the past couple of weeks. I have, however, gotten a lot of knitting done.
Somehow, I decided to knit christmas presents for a lot of my family. I wasn't going to, but within the space of like 45 minutes one day, I decided to make slippers for my mom, a hat and hackey sack for my little brother and either a hat or slippers for my dad. Yeah...Don't know how I came to that conclusion. Oh yeah, that's on top of the scarf and hat set for my little 1 year old cousin and the hat for her 8 year old brother my mom wanted me to make.
I finished three hats last week, two for presents and one for my boyfriend, Ken. He saw me knitting the one for my brother and liked it, so I made him one. My brother's hat and Ken's hat are both from the Hot Hedd pattern in Stitch 'n Bitch. They're both done in Cascade 128...the bulky wool. Joe's is olive drab and Ken's is olive drab on the bottom with a buttery yellow on top. They both turned out really well. The third hat was a modification of the two hour hat pattern. I made it smaller to fit my little 8 yr old cousin's head. It was done up on LionBrand Thick 'n Quick Wool Ease that is a marled blue...dark and light. I really like it.

I also got the scarf for the 1 year old cousin done. Its way cute, done up in a Hobby Lobby brand knock off of Bernat Boa in cream, yellow, pink and purple held together with cream Caron Simply Soft. I'm going to make the hat out of Bernat DenimStyle in purpley tweedy color with the feathery stuff along about 2 inches at the bottom. Yay!

I took a DPN class yesterday! I was having a hell of a time getting started on double points, so I broke down and took the class at my LYS. Now I have a good handle on the needles, and am ready to get going on slippers and more hats. Yay!

So yeah...In clase you haven't noticed, I've had kind of a week-long yarngasm. Here's everything I bought:
2 LionBrand Pounds of Love in antique white for the cabled baby blanket
1 skein Thick and Quick Wool Ease for the 2 hr hat
2 skeins Cascade 128 bulky for hats
1 skein Cascade 220 for Mom's slippers
1 skein Baby Alpaca Brush in periwinkle blue (holy god is this luscious yarn! EVERYONE needs some) for a hat for myself
2 skeins feathery yarn from Hobby Lobby for the little scarf
2 skeins LionBrand Jiffy for assorted hats
14(!) skeins Caron Simply Soft on sale at Hobby Lobby for $.77/skein (now that's a deal you can't beat with a stick)
1 set 10 1/2 DPN's
1 Susan Bates 29" circ size 17 (not crazy about them, but they were the size I needed)
1 Addi turbo 24" circ size 9
1 Addi Turbo 24" circ size 8

Yeah yarngasm!
I'll have pictures of everything very soon! My mom's out of town this weekend with the camera.

On a side note, my boyfriend was so cute when I gave him his hat. He took it to work and was all like 'Look at what my girlfriend made for me' And he was showing off the label and everything. He was so excited about his hat, that I'll have to make him another.

That's all I've got for now! Until next time, Knitters!

She-Knits-A-Lothttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08730012313234528408noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8086355.post-1099461324556393562004-11-02T22:30:00.000-06:002004-11-02T23:55:24.556-06:00WhewDid everyone go vote? You better have!

I've been so busy for the past couple of weeks, that my knitblogging has fallen by the wayside. I promise that I haven't forgotten you!

I'm now well over 1/2 done with Moses! I figured that, if I knit 9 rows a day, then I'll be done with the blanket in about 10 days. Yay! It is growing slowly but surely.

Today, I got the final mappage done for the cabled blanket. It is going to be a totally epic pattern. I made up blueprints for the blanket. Tomorrow at school, I'll scan it and post it up here. My patterns are all picked out and put together. The thing is going to be beautiful! Epic, but beautiful.

Tonight at work, I showed my pattern blueprints to one of the women I work with. She was totally fascinated with the amount of work that I put into building a pattern. I mapped out the entire thing on graph paper, then went into each square and put the pattern titles down. I did my front and rear elevations (drafting speak) for measurements and looks. It turned out pretty cool. Pictures will be coming soon!

That's all I've got for now. Until next time, knitters!

She-Knits-A-Lothttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08730012313234528408noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8086355.post-1098889504601258452004-10-27T11:54:00.000-05:002004-10-27T16:26:49.366-05:00Cable-y GoodnessI learned how to knit cables! I'm so proud of myself. Its actually MUCH easier than it looks...surprisingly enough.
The next baby blanket I make is going to be a cable sampler. I'm going through cable patterns right now to pick out the ones I like the most. After I wade through all of that, I'll start designing the blanket pattern. I do know, however that I want it to alternate between cables and textured stitches. It'll have nine 12"x12" blocks with a small border around each block and a large border around the entire blanket to offer seperation and to tie it all in respectively. Here's the general outline of what I'm thinking:
**Edit...yeah I changed the pattern picture. This is my new idea...a central celtic knot that's surrounded by smaller squares and a 3" border. Let me know what you think!

Click the pic for a bigger image.

So that's whats on my mind. I'm ready to get me a couple pounds o' love and start knitting.

Speaking of cables, does anyone have any good resources for finding different cable and braid patterns? I'd really like to get working on this blanket, as I have a feeling its going to take some time.

She-Knits-A-Lothttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08730012313234528408noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8086355.post-1098727003864480692004-10-25T14:36:00.000-05:002004-10-25T12:56:43.866-05:00New stuf around the pageWow I've been away longer than I intended. Things got busy. Know what I mean?
Not much in knitting news. Still hard at work on Moses. I'm around half done now. I need to do five more sections of weave and 10 rows of seed stitch. Then I'm done, and the pattern will go up here.

Look to your right...up a little..no no down a little. Stop! right there! See? I have patterns up! Yay! BabyBlocks and Cleopatra are available to whomever would like to make them. I would appreciate it if you didn't sell what you make from my patterns or sell the patterns themselves. That would make me sad. Then I would be angry. You don't want to make me angry. I turn into The Hulk.

Okay that was a lie. I'd still get angry though.

I picked out a sweater pattern that I'm dying to make. Adele from Berroco's Sweater Girls book. I really like it. However, I'll probably change the yarn to a non-eyelashy yarn. Eyelash yarn is all well and good, but I don't want a whole sweater out of it. Bleh.

So I decided what I'm going to do for the next baby blanket. I am going to make an Aran Sampler patchwork blanket. This will be my first project with cables, and I can so do it. I'm going to start practicing cablework now, while I'm researching different cable patterns. I'm definately going to do the blanket in a natural color, as is typical for cables. I can't wait to get toing!

That's about all that's new for me!
Until next time, knitters!

She-Knits-A-Lothttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08730012313234528408noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8086355.post-1098071732462552142004-10-18T00:35:00.000-05:002004-10-17T22:55:32.463-05:00FO and Sex Warmed OverI finished the ponchlette a few days ago, and finally decided on a name for it. I would like to introduce you to Cleopatra! I got the idea from my LYS ladies who wanted to see me wearing her with my dress for the wedding. So yeah...I tried on and modeled my formalwear at the store. It was fun.
My friend's wedding was yesterday, and way so much fun. It was kind of an unvieling of myself as well...a lot of people there haven't seen me in 4 years, and I'm 100 pounds lighter now.
Here's a couple pictures of me and Cleopatra:

Ta da! It was decided at the wedding that my theme for the night was "Sex Warmed Over" That gave me a chuckle.

That's all I've got for now. Until next time, knitters!

She-Knits-A-Lothttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08730012313234528408noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8086355.post-1097768775868666552004-10-14T12:25:00.000-05:002004-10-14T10:46:15.866-05:00Pictures pictures everywhere! The digital camera has returned from Philidelphia, and I have all sorts of things to show you!
I (almost) finished the ponchlette! I need to darn in the ends and maybe do some crochet edging to tame the curlies of stockinette stitch. Yay!!! Here's a pic:

The main part is done in a drop stitch pattern with Berroco Quest and US 13 needles, and the black band at the top is done in Paton's Brilliant and US 10 1/2 needles.
I made it just in time, too. I'm going dress shopping today for the wedding on Saturday. I already found a black halter dress that I love. I'm going to try it on again with the ponchlette in about 20 mins.

Lookie what I got!

The Perpetual Knitting Calendar!!!!! It is, by far, the BEST knitting reference I found...there's TONS of absolutely stunning knit/purl patterns, cable patterns and lace patterns. I highly recommend it!

My Dr BlueWho scarf hasn't been touched since the weekend. I've had to work on the ponchlette, and I need to be working on Moses. The baby is due in three months, and the shower has to be coming up soon. At any rate, here's a pic of my progress so far and alllllll the colors of yarn that I have:

The picture really doesn't do it justice. I'll have to work on getting something with better lighting. the big stripe is really a peacock blue, followed by a dark dark purple, followed by a really light blue/white tweed, followed by a kind of space dyed verigation between light and dark blue. I want to work on it some more...maybe I'll give myself some weekend knitting time.

Moses is coming along well. I'm 1/3 of the way done with it, despite barely touching it for about 3 weeks. I need to get pluggin. This is my primary objective.
Here 'tis:

I just started on the fourth section of weave. Its really starting to look beautiful.

I picked out my pattern for the next blanket. I pulled two different stitches from my calendar. One is a really tight latice-y pattern that I'm going to use for the border and the other is either going to be squares with triangles inside them or a garter stitch check...one square is eyelety and one is garter...very classy.

Man this is getting long...sorry for being so talky! I'm almost done.

My brother wants me to make him a hackey sack. So I'm going to adapt this pattern. I'm going to knit it up with fingering weight cotton and US 2 needles to make it about 2 1/2" in diameter. I'm excited to get started. I bought a royal and light blue yarn and bryspun double points for this:

Okay I'm done now. Until next time, knitters!

She-Knits-A-Lothttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08730012313234528408noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8086355.post-1097510732351657032004-10-11T10:49:00.000-05:002004-10-11T11:05:32.350-05:00New lookFinally got around to changing the look of my blog. I'm not sure how crazy I am about it. I may change the background color. A FO gallery is in the works. Does anyone know how to make those cool status bar thingamajigs for WIPs? I would like to add those.

The digital camera is in Philidelphia with my mother this weekend, so pictures will be coming tomorrow(ish).

I started the Dr Who scarf on Friday, and am about 1 1/2 feet into it now. I got 6 different blues...royal, peacock, periwinkle, verigated, denim tweed, light weed and one bluey purple. Its looking really cool, and I think I spent a total of $12 on the yarn. I'm hella excited about it. I adapted the pattern to working in the round for double thickness and the prettiness of stockinette without the curl. I love the stripe patterns in it because they're so random. I have four stripes done...one is 1", one is 8.5", one is 2.5" and the fourth is 2". Its so faboo. I decided to all the pattern the Dr BlueWho Scarf. Rawk.

That's about all that's new with me, lately. I've been obsessed with this scarf. However, it has to be put away so that I can finish the pseudo boob tube for Saturday and get some more work done on Moses.

...Maybe I'll just do one more stripe...

Until next time, knitters!

She-Knits-A-Lothttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08730012313234528408noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8086355.post-1097198227914710872004-10-07T22:24:00.000-05:002004-10-07T20:24:15.516-05:00Itchy FingersSo I don't have my knitting at home with me! Oh no!
I had to go to the hospital today to get my tummy fixed. Ya see, the hole in my tummy pouch that goes to my intestines closed up about two months ago. I had it opened a month ago and went in to get it done again today. Its a really easy procedure, where they put a scope down your throat to check it out, and I was only in the hospital for about 3 hours or so. However, I wasn't allowed to drive home afterwards, because they gave me magic drugs. I left all my knitting in the car! I'm crushed. I may just have to try my hand at crocheting tonight...or knit something on straight needles. eugh.

I've recently discovered how much I CAN'T STAND straight needles. Give me circulars any day. I just don't like having the weight of a project on one side. Blarg. I may be the biggest non yarn snob ever, but I'm a big needle snob. I'll only knit with bamboo (Crystal Palace, please) or Addi Turbos (newly discovered....LOVE them). I am, however going to be recieving a set of Denise Interchangeables in a couple monthsish (more on that later).

I'm about 1/3 of the way done with Moses. Yay! I'd have a picture if I had my knitting with me (grr). Its really looking lovely. I was working on it at Quietly Wild on Tuesday, and someone thought that I was actually taking knit strips and weaving them! I'm proud of myself.

The anti boob tube has stayed the same. I could be working on it right now if I had the extra ball of yarn that is complacently sitting in my knitting bag.

Last night, late night, I was struck with an epiphany! I bought a really beautiful periwinkle blue wool coat yesterday, which is just stunning. It hits me about mid-thigh and is nicely tailored with a hood. I love it! So I was planning on making a Harry Potter scarf. I thought that I might adjust the colors to match my coat. Yeah. Then I discovered the pattern for a Dr Who scarf!!!! That just thrills me. I love Dr Who. So I have decided to modify the pattern. I'm going to make it in 7 different shades of blue and it will be in the round. The thing I love about the Dr Who scarf is that its sooooooooooo big. It'll be like 12' long! How awesome is that? My color list: a denim colored blue and white tweed, dark purple, sky blue, indigo, peacock blue, periwinkle, and a really really light almost white. It is going to be SO AWESOME! I cast on and got the first row knit before I ran out of time. I'll get the pattern up eventually.

So my ex boyfriend, and now friend, has commissioned me to make him a sweater. I said I would if he pays for the yarn and would appreciate something extra on the side for all the hours I'd put in on it. I'm going to make a Hoodie that I found on the Lion Brand website. It will be in a dark green wool blend. So the yarn is being shipped to me, and he's going to buy me a set of Denise Interchangeables when I'm done with it! (or for Christmas...whichever comes first). I'm waaay excited!

I think that my knitherapy time will be spent looking at baby blanket patterns. I have one more to get on the needles! Damn my fertile cousins.

That's all for me no. Until next time, knitters!

She-Knits-A-Lothttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08730012313234528408noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8086355.post-1096983543519502662004-10-05T10:25:00.000-05:002004-10-05T08:39:03.520-05:00Big sigh of reliefWell you all can rest easy, now. I found my row counter. I left it at a friends house in a drunken stupor. What can I say kids? Don't drink and knit. You'll loose your row counter. If you're like me...then its a serious tragedy. I'm bad at counting rows.

New FO!
I finished the BabyBlocks for charity! It's not very baby-like colors, but I like it a lot. I don't believe in baby colors, so there...pfft. The main body of the blanket took two skeins of Lion Brand Homespun in Romanesque (I think...I took the bands off years ago), and the border took about 1/2 skein of Lion Brand Homespun in Antique. I used size 11 Addi Turbos (loved them!), and had no seaming!
Here it is:

And here is a close up of where all four squares meet. You can kind of see the different directions.

So I'm lusting after this poncho. I want to make it in a bad way. However, I think I'd make it with Simply Soft or something. We'll see.

Until next time knitters!

She-Knits-A-Lothttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08730012313234528408noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8086355.post-1096898602208345622004-10-04T10:51:00.000-05:002004-10-04T09:03:22.206-05:00Oh dear heavens*GASP* My row counter has gone missing! I can't live without it! My life is over! It had better show up, else there will be hell to pay.

Not much new in the way of knitting. I'm finishing up my Baby Blocks for charity with a wine-colored edging. I'll post a picture when I do five more rows and bind off. Totally loving my Addi Turbos...I really do knit faster with them.
The former boob tube is in the same state of done-ness as it was in before, but I have the yarn to finish it. I'm going to try and finish it in the next few days. I found a really nice sparkly black to put a tighter band around the top. Before I do any more, i need to put it on some scrap yarn to see if i need to make it smaller as I get toward the tops of my shoulders.
I totally didn't get a chance to get to the Lion Brand Hobby Lobby sale last week! I'm so disgusted with myself at this missed chance at stash building. I was going to get my harry potter yarn. Oh well...Looks like i'll pay a few dollars more for the yarn. Sad! No yarn on sale this week.

I am absolutely itching to make a sweater, but am resisting. I want to be done losing weight before I even think about tackling something for myself. Maybe I'll make some baby things. We'll see.

On a side note, I'm lusting for a set of Denise Interchangables. I will accept donations for them ;)
Sorry for being picture free...I'll take some when I have more progress to show.

Until next time, knitters!

She-Knits-A-Lothttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08730012313234528408noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8086355.post-1096393305816153322004-09-28T02:41:00.000-05:002004-09-28T12:41:45.816-05:00New Goodness! Two new FO's for me! Yay! I finished Baby Blocks and a Harry Potter scarf.

Baby Blocks:

Yay! Its so soft and squishy! Its also finished just in time for the baby 'shower'.

The charity knit-in was a lot of fun! There were about 40 of us hanging out in the little shop getting our knit on. I got 3/4 of another baby blocks blanket done, using Lion Brand Homespun and I finished up a Harry Potter scarf. Hopefully, a couple kids will like them a lot!

Here's the Harry Potter scarf:

I'm proud of myself. This was my first project with fringe!

And baby blocks:

I refined the Baby Blocks pattern a bit for this one to eliminate seaming.

I think that I may make this HP scarf for myself. I like the colors and the pattern. Its also knit in the round, so it will be super warm.

Oh! Exciting news! I got my labels, finally! They came in three weeks, much quicker than the 4-6 weeks promised by the website. I totally LOVE they way they look!
Here:
Yay!!

The boob tube is coming along nicely. I have about 4 inches left, but its put to the side until I finish some other projects that need to be done first. Well that and I need more yarn, and I'm broke. ;)

I got my first pair of Addi Turbos! Holy god are they fabulous! I'm totally in love with them! I really do knit faster!

Hopefully, I'll have time this weekend to put a few hours in on this blog. Expect a pattern section and a FO gallery in the newar future.

Until later...happy knitting, knitters!

She-Knits-A-Lothttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08730012313234528408noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8086355.post-1095825660163709852004-09-22T00:39:00.000-05:002004-09-21T23:01:00.163-05:00New Pictures! Finally! So Nancy from Quietly Wild helped me out with my in the round knitting. As it turns out, my cast on was a bit too loose, which prevented me from seeing the twisties.
The Boob Tube has decided to take on an identity of its own. Different yarn, different stitch pattern, pretty different look. I think I'll have to come up with my own name for it. Its knitting up extremely quick now that I've got the ball rolling. I decided to do it in a drop stitch pattern, and its really looking lovely.
Here's a pic:

The picture doesn't really do the color justice. Its a really bright and three dimensional copper. I love it.

I'm about 99% done with Baby blocks. I need to get another skien of blue chenille to make the border on the sides. Mom said she's get it for me for two reasons. 1. She loves me 2. I'm broke. Yay moms! Here's a look at that...all seamed with 1/2 of the border:

The color is a little off and dark. I tried to lighten it up a little bit but oh well. Pretty, no?

Moses is coming along quite well too. I have a few inches done on him. Here's a look at the whole thing:

And a closer look at the stitches:

Yay knitting! That's all I've been up to. Hopefully, I'll finish the boob tube (new name pending) by Sunday night.

Ooh! I'm going to my first-ever charity knit-in at Quietly Wild. I have a scarf that I'm going to finish up and I might make a hat or a little blanket or something. Yay charity!

She-Knits-A-Lothttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08730012313234528408noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8086355.post-1095739725157308522004-09-21T01:00:00.000-05:002004-09-20T23:08:45.156-05:00Site constructionI'm playing with some new layouts, so that's why I'm so quiet.

On the Needles:
so close to being done with Baby Blocks. I'm just picking up some stitches along the edges to add in a border. I need more yarn, so as soon as I get that, I'm ten kinds of done. I get to see My cousins and the baby next weekend! I'm so excited.

My cousin, Sue, makes up little aromatherapy sachets for me to wrap into my knitted gift items. I like to make things smell good. Anyone have an idea on what would be good for babies? She's willing to make up special blends for me.
Speaking of which...you can buy cool bath and body works-type things from her for way cheaper. Something Special Check it out.

Moses is coming along nicely. I'm learning a lot about my knitting technique with this, and am slowly improving my knitting. Each row gets a little faster and more precise.

I still haven't restarted the copper shrug. I need that needle size for Baby Blocks. I might just buy another set of needles for it. We'll see what happens.

That's all for me now! Happy knitting!

She-Knits-A-Lothttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08730012313234528408noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8086355.post-1095396426550762092004-09-17T01:34:00.000-05:002004-09-16T23:47:06.550-05:00Pictures to follow soon...and a question!Hi knitters!
I've been busy with the knititng. Baby Blocks has finished blocking and is ready to be seamed. I'm going to do that tomorrow. I'm thinking about picking up stitches around the edge and adding a border to it. It needs to be finished off. I think I'll take it to the Maggie and Nancy at Quietly Wild for their thoughts.

I have a decent start on the basketweave blanket. I think that I'm going to call it the Moses Blanket...basket weave...Moses basket...oh I'm so funny. Its going to turn out beautifully.

So I'm going to a wedding in a month, and I thought that it would be a nice touch to make a little wrap for myself to be paired with a little black dress. After all, I've lost 90 pounds and I have this beautiful new body to show off. Well I found this awesome pattern for the Boob Tube, and I fell in love with it. Determined to find the perfect yarn, I went to the LYS (Quietly Wild). I discovered Berroco Quest...an absolutely STUNNING glitzy/eyelashy yarn. It looks like burnished copper with all these little threads coming off it. My boyfriend thinks it looks like it would hurt you. Its very smooth to the touch and will be very striking on a black dress. It totally doesn't work with the pattern, so I'm kind of making it up as I go along. I want to go with a drop stitch pattern, because I like the look of that.
I am, however, having one problem. Its knit in the round, and this will be my first round project. With Nancy's help, I was able to get it started without a problem, but I wound up casting on waaay too many stitches and frogged it. Since then, I've tried restarting it twice, but I always get one area twisted when I start the yarn. I have no idea why...I'm almot positive that I had them all straight when I joined the two ends. Does anyone more experienced have a suggestion? I would REALLY appreciate it!

Thanks knitters! I promise to have loads of pictures soon!

She-Knits-A-Lothttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08730012313234528408noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8086355.post-1095136309717168692004-09-14T01:21:00.000-05:002004-09-13T23:31:49.716-05:00New goodies!I finished all four squares of Baby Blocks! It just needs to be washed and blocked! Here's a pic:

I'm so excited to be done! I think that I might pick up stitches around the edges and put on a border. It needs some finishing. Maybe in a seed stitch. I haven't decided yet.

I started on the next baby blanket! It's going to be a basket weave blanket with a seed stitch border. I have barely any done, but I'm getting there.

Yay blankets!

I also got some goodness at the LYS today! I swear, the LYS in Woodstock is the best ever. They have a little seating area where you can hang out an knit, and the ladies who own it, Maggie and Nancy are the sweetest women in the world. I love to just go there and knit. I usually can't make it out without dropping some cash, though. Today, I bought some Opal self-striping sock yarn to make into a hat.
Voila:

I can't wait to get started! It will be my first in the round project. The only thing I'm not sure about is casting on. The pattern calls for you to make a crochet chain and cast on from the bumps in there, then you rip it out after you finish the hat and knit a second hat onto the first row. That way, its double thick. I think that I'll go over it with my ladies at the LYS.

My friend, Becky, is getting induced tomorrow! Everyone send healthy baby vibes her way!
Well, knitters, that's all I've got! happy knitting!

She-Knits-A-Lothttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08730012313234528408noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8086355.post-1094936673020787132004-09-11T18:00:00.000-05:002004-09-11T16:04:33.020-05:00Fun stuff!I am now officially 3/4 of the way done with Baby Blocks! I'll post a pattern later if anyone wants it. I only have to whip up the last blue block, wash and block all four squares and seam! That' excites the hell out of me. I kind of started on baby blanket #2. I totally love the sheen that's on Caron Simply Soft. It will be lovely.
Picture-free post today because I'm in a hurry.

I ordered my first set of labels today! I got them from Name Maker. They'll be a black label with pink writing. A pink butterfly(my little symbol for me...I've been coming out of my cocoon for the past 90 pounds) and Created By Katie on two lines. I can't wait to get them!

That's all for me! Happy knitting, knitters.

She-Knits-A-Lothttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08730012313234528408noreply@blogger.com0
