Dear Vision Board Friends, I was moved by a story of homeless vets and I have made it my mission to help. Please see story below and either come to this event or donate online!

WHAT: Scottsdale AZ (06/24 /2009)-- Operation Gold Drop- To honor our Forgotten Homeless Veterans in time for Independence Day. Supporters, caring individuals and familys are encouraged to donate to our vets by reaching into their jewelry boxes instead of their pockets for any old, broken or unwanted gold jewelry, silver, platinum or scrap gold. With the growing need for philanthropic organizations to receive donations during these hard-hitting economic times, Scottsdale based Urban Treasures has created a way to assist our vets described as "Creative Giving". Just one broken earring can go a long way to help our vets off the streets. Efforts to raise $100,000 are being launched with this inagural event of many National Events planned.

For every donor, Golden Spoon will serve a complimentary yogurt. Raffle will include gift certificates from local 94th street shops including: Sway Apparel Boutique, Elements Massage, Scottsdale Spa and other retailers.

All Veterans will be treated to refreshments from South Beach Resturant.

WHO: Veterans from various Posts and the general public are encouraged to attend.

WHEN: Saturday, June 27th. starting at 9am until 5pm.

Overview:

On any given night more than 200,000 of our veterans line our nation’s streets. 200,000. Essentially, the population of Des Moines, Iowa is sleeping under bridges. “After reading an article in the Arizona Republic, we were moved and felt compelled to help and take action’, says Michael Smith, Urban Treasures Executive Project Manager.

By donating old, broken or unwanted jewelry, you can help provide emergency, transitional and permanent housing to the homeless and displaced veterans. A piece of broken jewelry can help in offering an aggressive outreach to those vets living on the streets who otherwise would not seek assistance. A broken earring can help in providing employment assistance and connections. An outdated necklace can help in developing a model for other veteran groups across the United states. Through Creative Giving, we can create an environment that empowers, provides dignity and encourages self-responsibility. We can assist in providing clinical assessments and referral for physical and psychiatric disorders including substance abuse.

What an incredible show John Spencer Ellis and his team put on this past Saturday evening. I knew I was in for a treat prior to the movie premiere...but I didn't fully realize what an impacting and empowering evening it would be.
As I arrived in the bus limo with my family, I saw a large sea of excitement. Approaching the red carpet, I made my way through the large crowd. As I started down the red carpet, I was greeted by media, cameras and interviewers. John Spencer Ellis, the executive producer was at the front enterance greeting and taking photos with movie goers, celebs & experts alike. John and his team put on an incredible event with a pre-film rock band that put me and my posse in an energetic mood (along with plenty of fab food and drink!). After a few jams, we were ready for the movie! Immediately, I was moved by the soundtrack of original music. I made a mental note that I wanted the CD right away! As I watched the story unfold with the traveler, I soaked in all the profound wisdom from the experts throughout the film and was poked in the back by my kids when I made a few appearances.
Weaved through a wonderful storyline of the Traveler, the movie laid out the importance of finding your inner Compass. As I watched intently, I was moved by few incredible and unforgettable moments in the movie. Once you see it, you will know exactly what moments I am talking about.
The timing of this movie couldn't have been more perfect! We all need to enrich, empower and feed our minds with positive messages amidst the turbulence around us! It is now available on DVD You can pick it up right now by clicking here:

New Book - Ever heard of a vision board?
Neither had we, but if it's good enough to be featured on Oprah, maybe we've all been missing out.
According to a new book by Joyce Schwarz called The
Vision Board: The Secret to an Extraordinary Life (HarperCollins, 2008, $26.95), a vision board is something like a collage that helps you determine what you want out of life and how to get it.
In the book, Schwarz shares vision boards from everyday people to celebrities, including Jim Carrey and Robert Downey Jr.
She also gives tips on how to create your own boards, which can include photos, drawings and quotes, that will help lead you to the life you want.
If it all sounds very Secret-esque to you, it should.
Bob Proctor, a teacher from the uber-popular book and DVD, The Secret, wrote the foreword, while Jack Canfield, one of the creators behind The Chicken Soup for the Soul series, wrote the afterword.

THE OBSTACLE IN OUR PATH

In ancient times, a king had a boulder placed on a roadway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the king's wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it.

Many loudly blamed the king for not keeping the roads clear, but none did anything about getting the big stone out of the way. Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. On approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded. As the peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse lying in the road where the boulder had been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note from the king indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the roadway. The peasant learned what many others never understand.

Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve one's condition.

You're in the best shape of your life for your sport. You know winning techniques, strategies and tactics. You even know your opponents well. But you're not winning as often as you should. Sometimes you're even losing to opponents who clearly don’t have a physical edge on you. So you think you’ve got to train harder, longer, or more intensely?
Think about it some more. Athletic competition is about far more than physical techniques and training. Mental and emotional training is just as important, especially for sports that are the most physically demanding.Olympic swimmer Susie O’Neill should know. Every year from 1990 to 2000 she won a medal at every international swimming competition she entered. (Counting? She holds 35 Australian titles and eight Olympic medals.) "If you train hard physically for your sport, you should also train hard mentally," she writes in a plug for the book Mental Training for Peak Peformance by Steven Ungerleider. That’s not a piece of advice that just sounds good. What happens in your mind makes a difference in what happens on the scoreboard.
Understanding the importance of visualization can help you prevent losing to competitors you know you should beat. More than that, it can help you to win against competitors in your league who are bigger, stronger or faster than you. "When two athletes of equal -- and often unequal -- ability compete, the athlete with the mental edge most often emerges as the winner," according Kay Porter, author of The Mental Athlete.Right. Visualization is a necessary part of athletic training. But how exactly?You understand the importance of mental training and visualization. But how exactly do you go about it?As with physical training, mental training requires:-Time Just as you set aside time for physical training, you should schedule time to visualize. A few minutes daily is enough.

-Goal-setting You should set goals. But don’t obsess on them. Goals should be realistic. For example, if you’re 20% accurate from three point range in basketball, your goal might be to achieve 25-30% within a month. (Goals should be realistic. Visualizations don’t have to be -- more on that below)

-Planning You should plan your visualizations. Start a session by visualizing your strengths -- suppose you’ve got a reliable jump shot from five feet. See yourself hitting five, six, seven in a row. Then move to areas you want to improve. For example that top-of-the-key three-pointer. See yourself hitting ten in a row. -Motivation Just like physical training, visualization training requires motivation. Some days you might not feel like doing it. Mental pictures often need help from actual images on a vision board (a collage of goal-related images on a poster board) or, better yet, a multi-media, online vision board site such as visionboardsite.com.

-Action Yes, this means mental action: actually doing your positive self-talk, affirmations and visualizations daily. Expert Tips on Visualization Kay Porter: ""Mental training requires you to make a commitment to be as dedicated to training your mind as you are to training your body." Visualization should take place in "real time" in your mind. Don’t visualize yourself as from a camera lens. Practice your visualizations from your perspective, from your own eyes. Finally, Humara cautions against unfocused visualization. Don’t just see yourself playing a perfect game. Instead, he says, you should select a specific skill to focus on in any visualization. Don’t overdo it.Obsessing on an athletic goal can make it harder to achieve, according to Craig Townsend, a Clinical Hypnotherapist and Director of It's Mind over Matter in Sydney, Australia. He specializes in mental coaching and visualization for elite swimmers. Townsend: "Often when we obsess or focus too much on what we want, it actually drives our goal further away from us. The key is to relax, allow your body to do what it has been trained to do, and trust that this will be enough to succeed."How to organize your mental trainingAs with anything, you should use the organizational tools that work for you.

Some choices include:Journaling -- writing down goals, visualization plans, and keeping a log or journal about them can can be just as valuable as a physical training log. Poster-board-and-glue vision boards -- Images are often more powerful than words for motivation. Cut out images from magazines that motivate you. Paste them on a piece of poster board. Hang this collage where you’ll see it daily.

Tim Ralston just got done filming for The Compass Movie. The Compass, a new motivational movie expected to be released in early 2009. It features speakers from both The Secret, and The Opus; as well as other empowering speakers... such as our own Tim Ralston.

Yesterday, the cast and crew were shooting all day at an incredible home in Scottsdale, AZ.

Tim talked about the power of visualization and using vision boards... and how we can use them as a tool for success in all areas of life!

SCOTTSDALE - A movie that producers tout as the sequel to the 2006 Oprah Winfrey-endorsed motivational book and film The Secret debuts Wednesday in Scottsdale.

"The Opus picks up where The Secret left off," said Tim Ralston, publicist and partner of The Opus.

The documentary-style film takes viewers on a journey with a young musician in the early 1930s as he searches for his greatest work, his opus. Interviews and commentary by motivational speakers appear throughout the film.
"The speakers give input on how to see what you're going for and planning your actions," Ralston said. "It's about not letting obstacles stand in your way."

The premiere at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts will be the first public showing of The Opus. Several speakers from the film will be there to talk with the audience during a seminar before the showing.

Promoters for The Opus rented the Center's Virginia G. Piper Theatre for the premiere. Ralston said he hopes they fill the theatre's 838 seats. The base rental rate for the theatre is $1,200 per day.

The film attempts to conclude the motivational message of the 2006 book and subsequent film, The Secret, the producers say.

The Secret received worldwide acclaim from some and criticism from others.

The Secret purports to teach the use of nature's "laws of attraction" to achieve conscious results from subconscious positive thinking.

"The Secret talks about getting stuff, but The Opus talks about getting what you want and what you'll get back from it," Ralston said. The Opus, he said, "teaches vision, plan and performance. It's about your life legacy."

The Opus was produced by Doug Vermeeren, a motivational speaker and actor from Calvary, Canada.

The film and an associated Web site is not endorsed by the makers of The Secret, but Ralston said he was inspired by The Secret's message.

Ralston said he partnered with Vermeeren on The Opus project after watching The Secret eight months ago. He put together a vision board online as suggested in The Secret, which says to create images of things you want out of life.

Vermeeren saw Ralston's vision board online and invited him to join The Opus project.

Ralston, who lives in Scottsdale, and Vermeeren created The Opus Web site, where users can create online vision boards for $29.95 a year.

Ralston said he hopes The Opus receives as much attention as The Secret. .

He has already talked to people representing Tyra Banks and Oprah Winfrey, Ralston said, adding that he is confident the talk show divas will be interested once The Opus takes hold.

"It's on my vision board," he said, noting that he "photo-shopped" himself into a picture Oprah's couch on her studio set.

Opus News:
The film is now 100% complete. It has been screened multiple times for the investors, distributors and industry leaders. Most feel we have an award winning film. We are very excited to here this. It is our hopes that everyone enjoys seeing the film as much as we enjoyed making it.

Magnificent Motion Picture Works (the Production company releasing The Opus) has now launched their official website. Check it out at www.MMPWMovies.com

Tickets to the various premieres are now available and are almost sold out in Canada and selected US locations 1.866.777.9496 Speakers and stars from the film will be present at each of these events. Those attending the VIP screenings will have access to exclusive Opus product.

Opus Trivia:
The violin used in the narrative section of the film was broken and cracked the first day of shooting (and right after the first scene) when one of the actors fell in the snow while carrying it. Rather than panic it was repaired and made to look like new by the director and the make-up department. The violin then returned to set where it finished the movie. That's a great example of perseverance.
