The food was wonderful!
· Matt introduced the Toastmaster, Hannah, cautioning everyone that she spoke with a “Boston accent.” Hannah introduced the WOW “ Mistletoe” and the theme “Parasite”. A round of introductions followed in which everyone used the WOW or the theme.
· Hannah introduced the Immediate Past President, Rhonda Walthall, who led the Officer Elections for the term of January 1 – June 30, 2008. The election results were as follows:
o Sergeant-at-Arms: Byron Shovlain
o Treasurer: Jose de la Torre
o Secretary: Ferdonya Henderson
o VP Public Relations: Rhonda Walthall
o VP Membership: Jennifer Ebner
o VP Education: Brenda Gettig
o President: Matt Greenbergs
· Hannah introduced the scheduled speaker, Jackie.
o The title of Jackie’s speech was “Food for Thought” and it was her CC-2 speech. Jackie spoke of her Italian grandmother who taught her how to cook lasagna in the basement of her New Jersey home. Jackie gave us some tips on making lasagna. First, use only Ronzoni pasta. Second, boil the pasta noodles until it is al dente or pliable and rinse in cold water. Third, use one pound of Ricotta cheese, one handful of fresh grated parmesan cheese, and two handfuls of fresh grated mozzarella cheese. Fourth, cut the tomatoes in half, squeeze the seeds out, turn upside down and cover with a pinch of olive oil, salt, pepper, and basil. Broil the tomatoes to blacken the skin. Remove the skin and retrieve the pulp and juice for the sauce. If fresh tomatoes are not available, Prego has Jackie’s seal of approval. Fifth, layer the lasagna noodles, sauce, and cheese, and bake. Jackie’s tradition is to serve lasagna to guests who are first time visitors to her home. She concluded by raising a toast to all the members and guests who were enjoying her wonderful, generous meal. Jackie spoke for 5:36 minutes.
· Hannah introduced the Table Topics Master, Rob Cross. Rob led a great round of Table Topics. The Table Topics Speakers were:
o Rhonda – Tell a story about strange things that happened to you or you have heard about. Rhonda spoke about cows and people and blue ice falling from aircraft. Rhonda spoke for 1:31 minutes.
o Darcy – What would you do if you won a million dollars in the lottery? Darcy said that she would renovate her house, pay bills, and save the rest. Darcy spoke for 1:05 minutes.
o Lee – Tell a story about strange things that happened while you worked on a cruise ship. Lee spoke about how acrobats are heroes. He was onboard when one of the acrobats hired to entertain the guests saved a guest who had decided to throw herself overboard. Lee spoke for 1:11 minutes.
o Oliver – How should we have more fun? Oliver responded by saying that we are overworked and under played and that we should make more time to play. Oliver spoke for 1:00 minutes.
o Whitney – Where would you like to visit? Whitney said she would like to visit Argentina because she heard from friends that the food was great there. Whitney spoke for 1:07 minutes.
· Matt introduced Rhonda as the General Evaluator. Rhonda led her team of evaluators:
o Don Wiggins evaluated Jackie’s speech. Don spoke for 1:46 minutes.
o Oliver provided the Grammarian/Ah counter’s report. Oliver spoke for 2:31 minutes.
o Lee provided the Timer’s report.
· The “Best of” awards were presented by Matt:
o Best Speaker: Jackie Lyons
o Best Table Topics: Oliver
o Best Evaluator: Don Wiggins

· Announcements:
o January is the best time to give a speech so sign up!
o The Club Holiday party will be December 19th.
