Old Church Delft

I live and work in Delft. One of the tourist attractions is the gothic Old Church, in Dutch: "Oude Kerk" or "Oude Jan".
The building of the church started in the 13th century.
An unstable foundation caused the 75-meter brick tower to lean about 2 meters from the vertical.
The tower resides a Bourdon bell of about 9,000 kg and with a diameter of 2.3 meters.
The Bourdon is only used excetionally such as the funeral of a member of the Dutch royal family.
The powerful chime of the Bourdon has such heavy vibrations and regular use could damage the tower or church.
The mausoleums of Piet Hein and Maarten Tromp are inside the church.
Piet Hein Dutch was a naval officer and folk hero during the Eighty Years' War with Spain.
Maarten Tromp was an admiral famous for his victories such as in the Spain-Dutch War.
Also the graves of the painter Johannes Vermeer and the scientist Anthony van Leeuwenhoek are in the church.

Solo wall at the VAK in Delft

This month I have an exhibition at the VAK in Delft. Rough brush streaks and acrylic paint characterize my figurative work which exists mostly from (women) portraits. The restrained use of colors in my paintings are rather expressionistic. All this has been aimed to strengthen and to give emphasis to my subject.

Flowers in a small pool

These yellow flowers will float for a couple of days before they sink to the bottom of the small pool in the garden

Exhibition of "the Wave"

Although I did not went to hear the Requiem of Mozart in the Old Church (Oude Kerk) in Delft, I wanted to see the large paintings ( 6 x 2 meter) I made and which would be shown during the scratch performance. During the lunch break between the rehearsals, I visited the church to make this small video of the paintings. I designed "the Wave" that is situated in the middle of the other paintings.

Blossom

This picture is taken about 2 months ago. The blossom from a prune trie. The prunes are at the moment about an inch.
