Working for Dillinger, Lee Perry, Topcat, Lilian Allen or Ari Up as backing band, releasing productions since 1988 in the name of dub.Touring Austria,Poland,Czech Republic,Canada & the US in summer 08 with Subatomic Soundsystem from New York city.
Ton loads of remixes & collaborations featuring Sly & Robbie, Dillinger, Mad Professor, Ken Boothe, Manasseh, Dreadzone, The Rootsman,Sounds From The Ground a.o.
European bass guerrilla cuts driven by political awareness and spaced out sounds. Expect hi-energy live shows and smoothened out studio productions all based on a strong commitment to original reggae and dub. Currently in the studio with Ariup & Lee Scratch Perry producing their forthcoming longplayer “ Return To Planet Dub”.

It's a long way from Kingston to Vienna. Not quite as far as Tokyo,
though…, but what about London? The Central Station of modern dub sound! On-U Sound started here, Nick Manasseh emerged from Brixton … probably the third best place to find heavy bass sounds anywhere in the world – with the exception of Jamaica and the “Troublecompressor-Headquarter” in Vienna, Dubblestandart’s home and the best place for European bass guerrilla cuts driven by political awareness and spirituality. Straight from Vienna, the hometown of Mozart and Haydn, Dubblestandart started in the early 90's and chose dub music as their musical lodestar.
Working as a backing band for Dillinger, Lee Perry, Topcat, Lilian Allen and recently Ari Up on her European and American tour, has finely honed their live skills. Their live sets are like sessions – with the style responding to the vibes of the audience - interacting with them while dubbing …!
In 2006, during their Canadian Festival circuit, they made an overwhelming appearance on stage in collaboration with the “Sugarhill” backing band (Doug Wimbish, Skip McDonald, Keith Le Blanc) and Adrian Sherwood on the mixing desk – a.k.a Tack>>Head or Little Axe.

Stunning …and a link to their new album. It appears that these guys from Vienna have decided to develop the path of the On-U sound production stage further many years ago when On-U disappeared from the market for different reasons !

No doubt about it: cover versions like Wadada (Dub Syndicate) or MPLA Dub (Tappy Zukie) or Money Money (Horace Andy) or When I Fall In Love (with the original Ken Booth vocals), sound like a new On U Sound act. The new album could almost be a landmark album by “Dub Syndicate meets Strange Parcels meets Revolutionary Dub Warriors”. An incredible fusion of hi-tech, vintage synthesizers and analog effect units, merged with solid dub beats, whilst experimenting with different styles that depart from the reggae norm.

In 2002 they released the critically acclaimed “Streets Of Dub” album on Select Cuts. In 2004 the “Heavy Heavy Monster Dub” album showcased collaborations with Sly & Robbie, Dreadzone, Manasseh, Mad Professor, Keith Le Blanc, Seven Dub, Sounds From The Ground, Mikey Dread and Carl Douglas. 2006 saw the release of “Are You Experienced”, an outstanding and powerful -vocal versus dub concept- displaying Dubblestandart’s ability to reflect vibrations of a planet on the edge to collapse.... a production heaving the listener to another dimension. More scratch, more sounds, more song writing infused with “Dub to be good...Vibes” featuring Ariup, Gudrun, Camel, Noa More and G-Rizo.

2007 - the year of identity and consciousness – indicates the birth of their 10th album inviting you to a journey into a far-out world of dream dub-rockadelic, sonic insanity or, to paraphrase all of this: “How Dope, Mozart, FM4 Radio, Guerilla Rastafarians and AMS helped Vienna noise dub pioneers create one of the most unsettling records of all-time!”
Immigration Dub will feature Ariup, Gudrun, a remix by the legendary bastard-reggae producer JSTAR from London, the one and only Ken Booth, Devon D & Truman Chewstick from Kingston/Jamaica, 3gga from Nigeria, Doug Cox, Todd Butler from B.C./Canada and the original dudes back at work.

THE LOW DOWN:
The legacy of the Slits is massive, not by their output in number during their existence but by their influence on alternative music, on female rock, on modern dance music. Undoubtful , the Slits created a mayhem of their own. Having started as Punk Rock protégées of the Clash during that hot summer of 1977, soon fusing their own version of Dub Reggae, new rock sounds and their brilliant attitude of don’t take s**t from no one, they became one of the hottest, and most important bands on the scene. Bob Marley’s classic ‘Punky Reggae Party’ was pointing in the direction of the Slits and the Clash. Being the first all female band in New Wave, they not only influenced a cast of thousand of women in rock – from Nina Hagen,to Hole and the whole Riot Girl movement. In regards to looks, image and attitude, the Slits simply are the blueprint. As revolution usually eats their own children, the Slits disbanded after only two full length Records , the first being the most influential "Cut" for Island, the second "The Return of the Giant Slits" on CBS, as a label obviously unable to handle the band. Ari Up, together with Slits backing vocalist Neneh Cherry, who later found fame in her own right, became members of Adrian Sherwood’s first On U Sound project New Age Steppers, also recorded with Prince Far I and then… Ari disappeared. So it seems. Returning to Jamaica, she made herself a name in the dancehalls as Medusa in the 90s and finally as the Slits legacy is catching up, Ari Up is back in
New York with a new band, stunning audiences , that were too young to witness the original band. The live sets consisting of great new material, some recalling The Slits’ sound (‘True Warrior’), some fusing New York funk into modern dance sounds (‘Bashment’), some being influenced by Jamaican dancehalls (‘No More Crew War’) or Punk Rock (‘Grown Ups’), some Slits’ classics (‘Typical Girls’, ‘Newtown’, or ‘Earthbeat’) and the odd cover version like ‘I heard it through the Grapevine’. Legend finally catches up when after the re-releases of Cut and the
New Age Steppers work finally Return… is being rediscovered by Sony Japan. Ari Up is the wildest girl out there, having the past to influence the present into the future. The queen of the Punk Reggae sound that changed the world of music .

Dubblestandart is currently located in Kingston/JA producing their forthcoming album
HIGHTS OF PARANOIA.
In June a 12" vinyl will be released, including a DREADZONE & SEVEN DUB vs. SLY & ROBBIE RMX and also 2 tracks from the forthcoming album.
The record will carry also the track "LOVE CAN GROW" featuring NIC!
Echo Beach will soon release the next King Size Dub Sampler 11, having the track "Streets Of Dub" from the album Heavy Heavy Monster Dub on it.
The coming release of the german reggae & dancehall magazin RIDDIM carries a CD , that includes the track DUB IS THE ROOTS also taken from the HEAVY HEAVY MONSTER DUB album, featuring Mikey Dread on vocals.
Dubblestandart will come to the US for their 2nd US tour this september.

After some shows in Austria and Switzerland we are now back in GOEast studio producing the next player: "World Of Decadence 2006" . Dubblestandart expanding the horizont of dub:
As we are in a changing world a lot of inspirations(sounds,vibes,people & politics)are shaking us.
... we might leave the classic road of dub for the next album.......

We are also preparing to hit the road again for shows in euroland scheduling march/april05.
We might be back for some dates on the east coast of the us by may05 as well....

Dubblestandart returns with the new studio album HEAVY HEAVY MONSTER DUB. This album represents the work of the last 2 years, ever since the release of Streets Of Dub back in 2002.

We've been working on this album together with well-known musicians from the dub community, travelling to Kingston, New York and London, and gaining tons of inspiration along the way. Finally we mixed and finalized the material in our studio in Vienna, providing what we would call the real "Dubblestandart Dub Sound".

By the way, all tracks, except remixes, have been recorded with real drums (Sly Dunbar, Ali Tersch), bass guitar (Robbie Shakespeare, Paul Zasky), guitar (Dany Axmann, Herb Pirker, Jean Bernard Des Carles), Keyboards (Robbie Ost, Axmann) and live percussion (Bongo Herman, Ali Tersch).

Dub remixes were contributed by: Mad Professor, Keith Le Blanc, Manasseh, Seven Dub, Dreadzone and Sounds From The Ground. Mikey Dread, Dillinger and Selector Camel added vocal parts on 3 tracks. "Bless" and nottn' more to say...

Thanks to Devon Denton, who took care of the production in Kingston. He is the man who has always been a huge support for Dubblestandart. Nuff respect!

Finally big ups are going out to Nicolai and all at ECHO BEACH / SELECTCUTS for connecting us with the world wide dub community and for promoting dub reggae music against all odds, believing that music is a strong power, uniting people and turning things up side down in a positive way.

The world wide music industry is going through heavy changes as we see the distribution of music and music-related stuff (CDs, DVDs, mpgs et al) increasingly channelled through the internet. This is propelling the entertainment scene into new territory.

The world wide distribution of Dubblestandart also changed. In the United States business will from now on be handled by forced exposure. In Europe, out from our Hamburg based label echo beach it will be German distributor indigo working with her partners for a good delivery of our products. soul seduction vienna, the new partner for the world wide distribution of select cuts vinyl, will be our exclusive partner for all vinyl records.

What u can take for granted: select cuts (vinyl) / echo beach (cd's) is our home-base for all Dubblestandart releases. (Check their sites for more info.)

King Size Dub Vol. 10 has been released celebrating 10 years ECHO BEACH Records, our beloved home base for crucial recordings in the name of dub. The Sampler includes mixes by Tappa Zukie, Small Axe, Prince Alla, Manasseh, Dubblestandart and others.

Our video department is just finishing a video production, we did on HEAVY HEAVY MONSTER DUB to be ready for broadcasting by July.
Due to visa problems with the US government all west coast tour dates for may and june have been canceled. We are more than just sorry, asking our self one more time why it is so hard for artists to travel and perform in the United States...
Nevertheless we're planning to return to the east coast of the US with some live dates by September 04.
