On SoL-AngeL and The Hadley Street Dreams, SoL-AngeL enlisted help from producers and songwriters that she knew would capture the sound she wanted to project instantly; but getting them to believe in her wasn’t easy.

“I literally had to beg Cee-Lo to listen to my music but once he did he signed on immediately,” states the giddy SoL-AngeL. “We wrote and recorded ‘T.O.N.Y’ and ‘Sandcastle Disco’ (produced by Soul Shock) that same week. Producer Jack ‘Splash’ joined in to produce ‘T.O.N.Y’ and went on to produce two more songs for me: ‘Would’ve Been the One’ and ‘Ode To Marvin,’ my special take on Mr. Gaye’s ‘What’s going On,’ both of which I wrote with Splash and Makeba.”

For the remainder of the album SoL-AngeL went on to work with Pharrell for the finger-snapping, feel-good first single “I Decided,” Lil Wayne makes an intoxicated guest appearance on “Champagnechronicnightcap,” Bilal helps write and appears on “Cosmic Journey” and “Wanna Go Back,” which Marsha Ambrosius of Floetry lends vocals to, and Raphael Saddiq produces the soulfully insightful, “Same Song, Different Man,” which features Estelle.

N*E*R*D* - Seeing Sounds (Star Trak / Interscope)

SYNESTHESIA [sin-uhs-thee-zhuh] - noun
A neurologically-based phenomenon in which a stimulus of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway, as when the hearing of a certain sound induces the visualization of a certain color.

You already know the story of the Neptunes. World-famous producers and songwriters, Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo, over the course of their decade-long career, have literally changed the course of music. It started with the redefining of hip-hop, the two of them wielding a minimalist, synthesized palette and a limitless imagination to create a sound that was as sophisticated and elegant as it was raw and rhythmic. Soon the Neptunes would alter the landscape of pop music, as well, creating driving rhythm & blues influenced work that artists in every genre would seek out to help establish their creative impulses. They have worked with everyone from Madonna and Justin Timberlake to Jay-Z and Gwen Stefani; from Britney Spears and Busta Rhymes to Kelis and the Clipse. Think of your favorite songs in the last ten years: most of them are Neptunes productions.

But N*E*R*D* are not the Neptunes, and the Neptunes are not N*E*R*D*.

"The Neptunes is what we do, but N*E*R*D* is who we are. It's our life," Pharrell would say in 2000, in describing the group that includes him, Chad and longtime friend and creative wunderkind, Shae. The three of them together combine for uninhibited explorations of sounds, emotions and truth, adhering to no agenda, subscribing to no rules. N*E*R*D* is the way they live their life, the way they see the world.

The words Pharrell used to describe N*E*R*D* in 2000 ring just as true in 2008, with the release of the group's third album, Seeing Sounds. The album is a blistering mash-up of booming hip-hop beats and rollercoastering rock riffs, rumbling crunk rhythms and scintillating soul music. Whereas their first album, In Search Of..., was an imaginative, exploration of identities, and their second album, Fly Or Die, sought out the range of genres and sounds that have influenced the group, Seeing Sounds grinds everything together, evoking a sound that is un-tethered by preconceptions and convention. It is also an album that amplifies the style and attitudes that have made Pharrell, Chad and Shae transcendent cultural icons.

"We are only a slave to the energy, the energy and the emotion," Pharrell describes. "We don't care about genres. Why would we? For us, it was just about being what we are. We aren't limited by anything other than our imaginations and what we feel, so why would we make music packaged into a little box?"

The album's title gives a clue to this thinking. It follows the concept of synesthesia, which is a neurological sensation that occurs when the stimulation of one sense, involuntarily - and some say preternaturally - stimulates another: seeing the color red and feeling the taste of your mother's blueberry pie, or hearing the whisper of wind through trees and feeling goose-bumps on your skin. More to the point, with N*E*R*D*, it could be hearing a musical note or a melody and seeing a flashback from the youthful romance of your adolescence.

"It was something we were watching on television, on the Discovery channel, on the phenomenon of synesthesia, and we realized that was how we see, hear and make music," explains Shae, who serves as the group's conceptual glue. "That's how it's always been, we just never knew there was a name to it. And when we learned about it, we knew it had to be the title of the album."

"Every thought makes a sensory impression," Pharrell says, "but sometimes the wires are a little crossed. When you hear a sound, instead of just your brain receiving electric impulses and then interpreting them, something happens and it invokes other things, a feeling, a memory, an emotion. That's how we make music."

Indeed, while Pharrell and Chad are classically trained musicians, sophisticated players who play all of their instruments on all their hit-records, they author the music of N*E*R*D* from a more honest, emotional, and ephemeral place. It is more than just musical notes on a 16-bar grid, or the demonstration of technical skill, or a hot beat. "It's been five years since our last album and we've seen and heard and done a lot in our lives," says Shae. "We feel free, and we need to express that. It's like we're doing it for the first time all over again."

Seeing Sounds was recorded over the last fifteen months, and is a reflection of the life lived by the three men as they have traveled the globe and interacted with people from all walks of life. "In that way, the music is a reflection of the world in a way that producing for someone else could never be," Pharrell explains.

The album's first single, "Everybody Nose," is a testament to how the restraints of conventional songwriting and rock music have been interminably clipped on this album. Its proclaimed taunts ("All the ladies standing in the line for the bathroom!") are driven with a thundering bass that gives way to a deep, drum-heavy rhythm track. The song careens between the head-nodding bravado of hip-hop and the body-moving energy of dance or punk music. "And people know what we're talking about," Shae says of the song's clever title. "It's an observation of what we've seen and it captures that sex, drugs and rock 'n roll mentality," says Shae. Indeed, it is salacious and sexy, diplomatically dangerous. And while contrary to popular belief - it is an anti-drug song.

The overarching theme of Seeing Sounds is its energy. A song like "Killjoy" moves at a quick clip, like a fast-rap throwdown by Big Daddy Kane from back in the day, with a fierce percussive breakdown serving at its emotional center. "Anti-Matter" moves through several different tempos throughout the song, flirting with psychedelic guitar funk and a dirty south bounce, teasing the senses with its stop-and-start momentum. "Spaz" has the complex rhythms of Indian music that eventually gives way to noisy breaks. In forgoing all genres, or rather in not remaining faithful to any one genre, the boys in N*E*R*D* are creating their own.

"We made this music anticipating the live show," explains Pharrell. "That was the most important thing. We know what we want to do on stage - we want to get fucking crazy, fucking insane - and if we make pussy-soft songs, no one's going to want to jump."

Indeed.

Pharrell takes it one step further. "No one will ever know what kind of a rush it is on stage to play these kinds of songs until you experience it for yourself. But that's the thing, we wanted to give that feeling to our audience."

Not all the tracks on Seeing Sounds are sonic monsters - they also display the group's musical breadth. "Sooner or Later," evokes the elegance of '60s UK pop, while "Yeah You," a first-person account of having a female stalker, flirts with smooth, '70s soul-jazz.

In the end, it's about transposing those feelings we all have - of rebellion and conflict, of confidence and insecurity - into a form of music. Seeing Sounds, hearing memories.

"Our fans are an army of individuals celebrating individuality," says Pharrell. "They come from so many different walks of life, there are so many archetypes in our crowds, and they all meet up here in that moment with our music. That's a beautiful thing and we have to honor that in our music.

"We're not doing this for the money. We are just trying to keep the movement going. We owe it to the people. More than rock out, we want them to bounce all over the room and get lost in it."

R&B singer Craig David has released his fourth CD “Trust Me.” The album is available in the United States, which is a plus for fans of the international singer. The U.K. singer is best known in the U.S. for his hits “Fill Me In,” and “7 Days” from his early release “Born To Do It.” “Trust Me,” is a funky collection of eleven songs. The first single from the album, “Hot Stuff,” is an up-tempo dance track that borrows a sample from the David Bowie classic “Let’s Dance.” “Friday Night” is a great funky R&B flavored song.

The U.K. second single, “6 of 1 Thing,” is a really awesome song. The vocals are really good and the music is far different than anything Craig David has ever released. It’s guaranteed to spawn re-mixes and it’s a great dance song. “Awkward” is a mellow laid back soulful track. It’s one of the stand out songs on the album. “Just A Reminder” is a smooth R&B album track. “Officially Yours” is a beautiful song. It’s one of Craig David’s most memorable ballads. It’s really a great song. It was the third single released from the album in the U.K.

“Kinda Girl for Me,” is a mid-tempo song that borrows from a classic sample. It’s a nice summer time type of song. “She’s on Fire,” is one of the hottest songs on the album. It’s crazy funky. Craig David really did a great job on this song and his fans will be pleased. “Don’t Play With Our Love,” is a crazy dance track. Craig David’s vocals are on point and the music is fantastic. Performed with a live band, “Don’t Play With Our Love,” is another stand out track on the album.

“Top of the Hill,” is a slow song. It’s not quite a ballad. It’s kind of melancholy in nature, it’s storytelling in nature reminiscent of the song “Johnny,” from his third album “The Story Goes…” The album ends with the song “This Is The Girl,” featuring U.K R&B artist Kano. This fast tempo song is a great way to end the album.

Craig David fans will really be pleased with “Trust Me.” The album displays Craig David’s growth as an artist as he delves more into his own unique style of R&B. “Trust Me,” is not the kind of album that will put you to sleep. The up-tempo songs stand out and there are few ballads on the album. Craig David fans will enjoy “Trust Me.”

Madonna has released her latest CD “Hard Candy.” The twelve track CD is her best release to date. The album is comprised primarily of up-tempo and dance tracks. The tracks are more melodic, urban and dance floor quality rather than techno. The album’s first single was the huge single “4 Minutes,” featuring Justin Timberlake and Timbaland. “Hard Candy” is a very modern Madonna album. Fans of current pop artists will relate to the album. Fans who enjoy Madonna classic’s such as “Holiday,” “Music,” and “Into the Groove,” will enjoy the updated yet familiar sound of “Hard Candy.”

“Candy Shop” is a cool mid-tempo track produced by Pharrell Williams. Pharrell actually produces a handful of songs on the album. “Give It To Me,” is a fast paced urban pop synth inspired song with a futuristic edge. “Heartbeat” is a funky track with a nice melodic chorus. “Miles Away” is a laid back song that fits nicely on the album. “She’s Not Me” is a sassy song that stands out on the album. It’s the perfect get back at the wrong guy song. “Incredible” is one of the best songs on the album. One thing that is instantly noticeable on “Hard Candy” is the fact that the album blends together very continuously. “Beat Goes On,” is a funky club friendly track. “Dance 2Night” is another equally funky urban flavored track. “Spanish Lesson” is a fast paced salsa inspired track. “Devil Wouldn’t Recognize You,” is a very memorable song for Madonna. It’s a really great song. The album closes with the song “Voices,” which is another funky track.

Music fans will appreciate the appearances on “Hard Candy” by producer’s Pharrell Williams, Justin Timberlake, Kanye West and Timbaland.

“Hard Candy” is Madonna’s best album in many years. It’s a great collection of songs that are great for the summer and the club. There isn’t one ballad in the bunch. The album features production by Pharrell Williams, Timbaland, Danja and Kanye West.

Mariah Carey is back with her latest release “E=MC (2)” The album follows up her hugely successful album “The Adventures of Mimi.” “E=MC (2)” features 14 brand new tracks. The album opens up with the funky song “Migrate” featuring T-Pain. This could easily be a single. The song is very radio friendly. “Migrate” is followed up by the album’s first single the #1 song “Touch My Body.” “Touch My Body” is a bouncy song that has become a favorite among Mariah fans. One of the funkiest songs on the album is the song “Cruise Control” featuring Damian Marley. “I Stay In Love,” and “Love Story” are classic Mariah love songs. The song “Bye Bye,” is a song that will strike a chord with people who have lost the special someone that they love. It’s a memorable Mariah Carey love song. Mariah fans will cling to this song. Although Mariah is very well known for her love songs and ballads, she is also remembered for her funky hip-hop inspired songs. “Side Effects” featuring Young Jeezy is a hip-hop flavored that Mariah’s young audience will appreciate. “O.O.C.” is a roller skating friendly up-tempo song. Mariah fans will be pleased with “E-MC (2).” It’s a great follow up to the “Adventures of Mimi.”

The B52’s are back with their first studio release in over a decade. “Funplex” is a good time album that fans of the foursome will especially appreciate. The song “Pump” is a up-tempo song with a really good sound. The group really hasn’t lost any of the style that they captured in the 80’s. The group experiments with a lot of different sounds on “Funplex.” Songs like “Juliet of Spirits” and “Love in the Year 3000,” are really laid back cool songs, not really fast paced dance songs. Fans of B52’s songs such as “Roam” and “Song for a Future Generation,” will appreciate these songs. Cindy and Kate harmonize nicely on the song “Juliet of Spirits.” “Funplex” is the kind of song that fans of The B52’s will relate too. It’s a signature B52’s song. It’s fun, happy and friendly. “Deviant Ingredient” is a laid back mellow song. Overall, “Funplex” is a fun, happy return to the music of The B52’s. Fans of the group will be pleased.

The 13 song compilation features great new music from some of the most talented artists in the industry. The CD opens up with a great brand new song from pop star Paula Abdul. "Dance Like It's No Tomorrow" is one of the first new songs from Paula Abdul in years. It's a great uptempo dance song and Paula Abdul fans will be pleased to hear new music from the American Idol judge. The song is followed by the hot song "Walk on By," by soulful singer Joss Stone. Santa Monica, Calif., February 14, 2008 – -- Life seems super sweet at 16 for birthday boy/new driver Jordan Lewis (Lil’ JJ) who’s revving up to escort his dream girl, Autumn (Chelsea Tavares) to a gala party in Just Jordan: “Picture Me Rollin’,” a Nickelodeon TV movie inspired by the hit TEENick series, premiering Sunday, March 2 at 8 p.m. (ET/PT).

“Laughter, romance and a life lesson or two come wrapped in a big, comic adventure for Just Jordan’s first TV movie,” says Nickelodeon’s Marjorie Cohn, Executive Vice President, Development and Original Programming. “Kids will love seeing Jordan experience the milestones that go along with turning 16, like getting a driver’s license and going on your first date.”

Jordan counts on everything falling into place for his sixteenth birthday after he passes the driver’s test, receives an invitation to teen model Autumn’s “Sweet 16/Lash Girl” event and is handed the keys to a hot muscle car, courtesy of Grandpa. Now, he just needs to summon the courage to ask his long-time crush Autumn to be his date for the party. When she makes it easy by banishing her mysterious ex-boyfriend for good, Jordan thinks he’s on the ultimate roll. But “birthday bash” takes on a whole new meaning when he accidentally bangs into a rich guy’s parked car as he heads to the party. The tycoon takes pity on the mortified teen, offering his limo to take Jordan and Autumn to the party. They wind up riding in style, but their trip takes a wild detour when their limo driver leaves them in the lurch at the mini-mart and what starts out as one of the greatest nights of Jordan’s life quickly turns into one of the most unpredictable.

Just Jordan is created and executive produced by Alison Taylor (The Cheetah Girls). Warren Hutcherson (The Bernie Mac Show) is executive producer and co-executive producers are Teri Schaffer (The Bernie Mac Show) and David Hoge & Dan Cross (One on One).

HBO -The Wire, one of television’s most riveting and compelling drama series, is in it last and final season to the disappointment of fans everywhere. And for the first time in the 5 year series HBO has released a soundtrack titled: “The Wire: And All the Pieces Matter – Five Years of Music from The Wire” – Tuesday Jan. 8th, 2008.

Another exciting development coming out of The Wire, star Julito McCullum (Namond Brice) is gearing up for his rap career.

Taking on the moniker of Namond, he has been grinding in the studio working on an album that is expected to be released this summer.

Erykah Badu Returns To Music Spotlight With New Single "Honey"

Erykah Badu returns to th0065 music limelight with her debut single "Honey." Laced with Erykah's bluesy grit and MC style vocals, the song is bolstered by producer's
9th Wonder's razor sharp hip hop beats. Badu describes the song as "an old school track with some funk on it."

Praise for the single is already rolling in, with tastemaker DJs in NY, Chicago, Dallas and other cities already declaring their love for the innovative song.

The recent release of "Honey" on November 20th also marks Badu's 10th year in the music industry. To celebrate, the gifted trendsetter prepares the release of her much anticipated new album on her birthday, February 26th. Badu has enlisted some of the most talented, groundbreaking underground producers and engineers in the hip-hop game to support her breakthrough return, including Grammy Award winning producer 9th Wonder (Jay-Z, Nas, Mary J. Blige), Madlib, Mike "Chav" Chavarria and R&B singer Bilal. A special, 12-inch pink wax edition will be available only to DJ's next month and will feature album tracks, "The Healer" and "Real Thing."

Erykah Badu, a Dallas native emerged in 1997 with her masterpiece debut album Baduizm as
a primal force of nature connecting old school soul with contemporary R&B. The album
garnered her numerous award nominations, pulling 2 coveted Grammys (Best Female R&B
Vocal, Best R&B Album) and multiple Top spots on critics' Best-Of-The-Year Lists. In 2000
she followed up with the critically acclaimed platinum selling album, Mama's Gun. In
2003, the EP World Wide Underground was awarded Gold certification.

Erykah most recently performed a Diana Ross Tribute on the BET Awards and the hit show Girlfriends and received rave reviews. The highly regarded upcoming project will be Badu's first full length album in 7 years.

It is with great sadness that Jive Records announces the passing of Chad
"Pimp C" Butler, a member of the celebrated rap duo UGK (Underground
Kingz). Jive Records' President and CEO Barry Weiss states: "We mourn
the unexpected loss of Chad. He was truly a thoughtful and kind-hearted
person. He will be remembered for his talent and profound influence as a
pioneer in bringing southern rap to the forefront. He will be missed and
our prayers remain with his family and Bun B. I've known Chad since he
was 18, and we loved him dearly and he was a cherished member of the
Jive family."

Born in Port Arthur, Texas, Butler's father was a trumpet player who
played professionally with Solomon Burke. Outside of his father, the
33-year old rapper's influences varied, ranging from Bobby Bland, Jimmy
McGriff, the 1960's Motown artists to Run DMC. Butler met his
inseparable partner Bernard "Bun B" Freeman in high school where they
formed UGK. In 1992, the duo signed to Jive Records and went on release
a total of eight albums for the label. They earned their highest
achievement earlier this year when their most recent album, UGK
(Underground Kingz), debuted in the number one position on the album pop
chart. According to the New York Times, UGK "helped inspire a generation
of Southern hip-hop stars, from OutKast to Lil Wayne."
