Okay, so I'm a wee bit behind the times. I've heard of wikipedia a million times but never really had reason to go to it. But I ended up on it the other day and found myself clicking and clicking and clicking. SO many links. I got a headache after a while. I think I was getting too smart.

It's one thing to win - that's a nice way to end a game - but it's another entirely to set a record doing it! 23 points in overtime, which the Knicks have never done before. How's THAT for a decisive "TAKE THAT" against the Wizards?

That's the stuff that makes basketball worth watching. :)

Corey Williams, last year's winner of the Last Man Standing one-on-one tournament, returns to the Garden to defend his title beginning June 9th. The one-on-one tournament is extremely physically demanding, so it takes endurance and excellent conditioning to win. Williams is also known on the court as "Homicide".

Pistons take Knicks

Despite a 10 point comeback run to tie up the game at 4:07 in the fourth quarter, the Knicks took a back seat to the Pistons Monday as Detroit continued to a final score of 91-83. The match went into triple overtime, and you might say that the Knicks lost a lot of energy tying it up in their effort to overcome the Pistons late.

Four Knicks Players Suspended

Due to the brawl Saturday night between the New York Knicks and Denver Nuggets the NBA has suspended 4 Knicks players, Nate Robinson, Mardy Collins, Jared Jeffries, and Jerome James, for a total of 21 games. But the player that got the stiffest penalty was Denver Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony who will be out for 15 games for throwing a punch. But the Knicks must go ahead and put this behind them because the Utah Jazz are coming to town hoping to give New York it's third straight loss.

I really wish I had some positive to say. Something that would help make this season easier to digest, but I'm afraid I don't. The New York Knicks are 4th in the worst division in the NBA, and 5 games below .500. When I watch this team all I see is a group of undiscplined children trying to play basketball. Isiah Thomas needs to step up and discipline and coach this team, and Stephon Marbury needs to become a leader on this team.

Wish I could have jumped in sooner

I was too busy to get a chance to blog my delight at our win -- on the road, no less -- over the Memphis Grizzlies. And since then we haven't had such cheerful news. Still on the road, we got beat by the Atlanta Hawks. Then back to the Garden we lose 109-95 to the Indiana Pacers; didn't get to watch that one, but the final score doesn't leave too much to the imagination.

I have seen some pretty unbelievable results already in this brand new season, starting with the Chicago Bulls obliterating Miami opening night. What else? How about those same Bulls losing to the Sacramento Kings? And the Charlotte Bobcats beating the Cleveland Cavaliers?

So who's afraid of the San Antonio Spurs?

Wow, this has been a really busy month. Wedings and Funerals, and birthday parties and that's just the fun things, not counting the overtime at work...I haven't gotten to watch many games and I haven't made a post on here in a while, but with a little luck I'll be back in it next week.

Two Point Difference, Two Wins for the Knicks

Thank you, Jamal Crawford for those last five points, which included tying things up at 100 with less than a minute on the clock, then icing the game with the final 2 points! Friday night's game against the Philadelphia 76ers was a preseason game, of course. But it was a great reminder of why people love watching NBA basketball and why they invest in tickets to go in person to scream and holler from the stands. The game was tied at the half, the Knicks were ahead by 2 at the third quarter...and then there was the drama just before the final buzzer.

Nice to have a couple of W's even if they are preseason stats. Builds our confidence, and games like that one build the fans' excitement about the season ahead.

Thomas names Grunwald VP

Isiah Thomas, President of Basketball Operations for the Knicks, said on Thursday that Glen Grunwald has been named senior vice president of basketball operations. He and Thomas co-captained the 1981 NCAA Championship Indiana University squad. Grunwald spent 1997-2004 with the Toronto Raptors, vastly improving their record during his tenure, and has been absent from basketball since leaving Toronto. He is leaving behind a spot as CEO & President of the Toronto Board of Trade, the largest chamber of commerce in Canada.

The New York Knicks are holding workouts for prospective draftees. I have been following the Dallas Mavericks through the Playoffs and I have been impressed every step of the way. I chose them because they have never won a championship and because of what Avery Johnson has done with them this year and last.

They got past the reigning champs and the Phoenix Suns which were great feats in themselves. Last night they made beating the Miami Heat look so easy. There was never a question as to who was going to win that game. Dirk dominated them in so many ways and Shaq didn’t know what to do with Dirk on the double team. Avery made some good choices. The Mavericks have won the two most crucial games thus far. Now they just have to prove they can do the same on the road, which they have done before.

Sometimes they say it before it’s really true.

There are more than a few articles out there proposing some audacious things. Does anyone know the skinny on Larry Brown and the New York Knicks?

I was reading on the New York Knicks official site about our final record of 23 and 59. The article includes quotes from Isiah Thomas. He is basically saying that this summer they are going to focus on figuring out what went wrong this year. Thomas apparently feels the individual players on this team are very talented. What do you think went wrong?

Knicks Shocker Ends Badly

The New York Knicks lost to the Philadelphia 76ers but one thing about the game did surprise me. Since it has been a long time since I could say that, I just had to share. Nate Robinson performed really well scoring 34 points in just over 40 minutes. We even had an 11 point lead in the third quarter. I was watching something else and almost had heart failure when I flipped back to the game. I couldn’t watch anymore when we lost the lead. What went wrong?

Celebrities and their families get accosted by psychotic fans all the time and some pretty violent things have been known to happen. Could you have waited for others to respond knowing only that a strange man was getting aggressively physical with your wife with your son cowering unprotected next to her. Not I.

Antonio Davis Rescues Wife?

Antonio Davis has been suspended for five games without pay. Davis saw what he thought was a fan harassing his wife in the stands. Instead of reporting the issue to security he ran up into the stands to rescue her (like any loving husband would) with minutes left and the score too close for comfort. According to the fan, she was accosting him and not the other way around.

The New York Knicks recently pummeled the Cleveland Cavaliers. LeBron James put up 35 points for the struggling Cavs yet our defense held the rest of the squad to very few comeback points and finished the game 92-84. We then went on to battle the Atlanta Hawks and came out on top 105-94. I have to admit the New York Knicks have looked pretty good lately and they are in fact on a six game winning streak that includes two overtime victories. It is nice to see them pull themselves out of the slump they were in but that fact has me wondering how long the good times will last.

James Suspended and Hardaway Away

Isiah Thomas, the New York Knicks President of Basketball Operations announced on January 2nd that Jerome James has been suspended. The suspension is due to conduct detrimental to the team and not being prepared to practice on Sunday. They will not release any more information about the matter. James has had some injury related problems that have made him a disappointment at best for this team who needed a good player at the center position. Another injury plagued player, Anfernee Hardaway, will be spending some time with his own trainers to exercise more often and strengthen his body.
