Free SEO Backlink Tool from Pubcon 2007

Wow, not only was pubcon great but the SEO's on the panel had some fun marketing tools used when running a site review. Dixon Jones from Receptional based in the UK from www.receptional.com provided many comments to the site reviews in the morning session Interactive Site Reviews - Focus on Links.

I noticed a few tools used such as Compete.com as well dnsstuff.com and many other tools however the main tool that made the largest impact on the SEO's in the Pubcon Session was noticed on the display screen every time Dixon switched over to his laptop. He was using his own tool developed by his in-house team with one of his lead programmers being at the conference Andy Langton who I enjoyed a few hours with at the Wynn Hotel Pub after attending the attending the Blue Men Group Show.

The SEO tool has been posted on Dixon Jones website for free and he has posted the username and password as well. Username: pubconPassword: pubcon Access the Link Tool from http://labs.receptional.com/links/

It was great watching how many people wrote down the URL when Dixon Jones showed the page on the big screen in the site review. However since we all had an internet connection and most of us had our laptops with us we tried to go to this page on Receptional's site however what we did not realize was it was password protected.

After the site review session Dixon did hand out the password to people that requested it, however since he had such a high demand of webmasters wanting it he decided to post it on his blog for others to use this. It is un-known how long this password will work but I would suggest using it while you have the change it really is a good backlink tool.

‘Bloggers Night Out’ - From Pubcon 2007

Wow this event is already kicking off like no other event I have ever attending with the amount of news media on the recent topics with Thousands of Internet Marketers coming to Las Vegas for a Search Engine Marketing Conference in the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Tons of us will be arriving Monday Eve, I should be in about 9:30PM PT - 11:30PM Central Time sucks.... However we will be starting out a cool opener for Pubcon with its normal tradition with the Conference Introduction by Brett Tabke.

Then comes the Morning Keynote with Craig Newmark speaking about still not having a description of the details of the topic. I think it maybe kind of like last year when we had lines wrapping all the way around the halls and back down the elevators and out the doors. It was huge the following with Guy Kawaski .

Than after we have our morning jumpstart on coffee then we are off and running like kids off to school. Everyone I am sure like me already have it programmed into our PDA so we can adjust our schedule on the fly.

I think The Blue Man Group is a must see show in Vegas!

This article just goes to show that Google is finding Spammers and de indexing them …. It goes to show how clean white hat marketing will uphold a stronger life span in the future of Google as it grows.

WOW, what a line up of topics this year at Pubcon as it is really hard to put together a schedule of what I am going to attend because of the caliber of sessions going on as other I am attending I almost wish I could clone myself for a few days and get everything however I have a list of sessions I do plan to attend.

I am putting this into my PDA Phone, as I have found in the past it is good to have everything prepaired before I go since I am charging batteries, reading emails between sessions and more as well trying to keep all the session data kept within my notes not overload my brain.

Why Do I need Search Engine Marketing?

Many business owners today think that people will just find them; this is a partially true statement. Depending on how many people know about your brand will depend on how many people find you. This will also be determined from your effectiveness of normal business interactions; however what if you could get word of mouth business and free search engine traffic for terms that convert in to qualified buyers.

"A Professional SEO is the key to your success on the internet by targeting the right keywords and making sure that your site is found when people are looking for you."

Then what if you could effectively triple your investment with “Paid Per Click Traffic” such as using Google Adwords and other PPC Engines. With the right keywords you can gauge them based upon your conversions and include many other related terms into the mix to get more traffic for sometimes a lower cost. That would be very cool; however most business owners either lack the knowledge or time, resources to tap into the online space. This is where you need to do your homework and find a marketing firm or a talented individual marketer to assist your needs.

What is difference between Paid Advertising vs. Organic Advertising?

The best example of this would be anyone can pay for traffic but not everyone can rank for words specific to your industry without putting some time into it. Normally you rank in a search engine for the organic listings because the search engine feels you have a well put together site and most importantly you are relevant to the searchers query... Both work hand in hand however one is "FREE" and the other is not. Many benefits exist especially for high dollar industries such as the medical, legal, real estate just to name a few.

People can pay top dollar for some of these words but again they must study the daily trends to make sure that they are not just wasting their money. Studies have shown throughout the years that Searchers tend to click more on the organic search results over the paid due to their position on the page as well the searcher normally will only visit the first or second page of results until they refine their search query.

How does one get started?

You need to first find someone you can trust that has the experience you need.

Get a Site Review (Overall picture of your site)
Find a Qualified Optimizer that will help develop a SEO Plan
Execute the SEO Plan (Depending on its Ethics) “Do it Safe”
Evaluate and Test for effectiveness of SEO Plan

You need an optimizer that can study your business and become part of your marketing efforts to help increase your exposure as well study your traffic trends to improve your conversions. In my eyes SEO is always growing and is more then just getting traffic it’s about helping you sell more products from a website in an ethical manner, meaning using standard practices and following all the terms of services published by the search engines.

What to look for in an internet marketer:

When looking for an internet marketer you should do your homework first, find out more about what that marketer’s reputation is in the industry such as what types of work they have done and for whom. Sometimes the clients choose to be confidential so you may not always find out the clients. Also read their blogs or forum posts for intelligent reading, who knows you may actually get something out of them.

Ethical Marketing Tactics:

I am sure most of you business owners have heard of many ways to get listed on the search engines within 24 hours, as well seen those wonderful emails that spam your inbox daily with guarantees for top placement. I will not name any names for privacy purposes but I always get them as well the phone calls wanting to speak to the marketing director or the business owner.

I do all my SEO myself and most of the time I am upfront with these sales guys as they continue their written out sales pitch telling me that they can get me top ranking for any keyword I want….. “I always say wow that’s magic” the response is Yah we have helped many clients and we can do the same for you……LOL this is where most companies run into problems with these types of calls they show you some great examples of the work and log you into a demo that gets your blood racing.

I will not go into more depth because you can read more about this kind of thing happening all over the web… Just be careful about that kind of service, many business owners have paid the cost of getting their company domains banned and having to fight to get it back or not getting it back depending upon the penalty.

Why is complying with the search engine terms of service important?

That is a very simple answer to that question, if you do not comply you will simply get your site banned or removed from their index…

Windows Vista - Microsoft Introduces New Operating System

Looks like a good move from Microsoft with Windows Vista taking the digital world to life in a different ways... I watched a great video off the Microsoft site after hearing about this all over the web from Technorati to Feedburner..

The video starts out with a live band playing with a great introduction to Bill Gates, telling us what Microsoft is trying to do for all the mobile, gaming and digital world plus much more.

The video also goes through screenshots of the new operating system. Take advantage of the new tools for keeping track and making changes to photos on the fly. Within minutes you can build your own dvd for family in minutes.

Office 2007 is also a new product launched around Windows Vista and helps create documents with ease with different preview options and the availability to easily work with pictures from your digital camera. Other features that will help the non technical person to make images rounded and many other effects built into the program..

Other elements such as games can due cross platform play with your xbox 360 plugged into your pc allowing you to communicate from your laptop and connect to your kids from across the world.... WOW that is cool stuff.

The cool thing for parents is the controls for our kids, You can now set time limits for use as well as game ratings and much more.. Also a parent can all get a activity report so as a parent we can see what sites the child has tried to go to but was blocked or things they saw during there computer session.

Microsoft Windows Vista is compatible with your Xbox 360 sitting down at the TV and I can transfer my slide show presentations to my big screen TV down stairs or maybe a training module from an online school. The opportunities are limitless... I look forward to seeing the impact once more people get the upgrade and the bugs are worked out of the new operating system...

Matt Cutts has just revealed Google's latest ranking plans for 2007 in his blog.
How you might be affected by Google's plans for the next weeks:

It is likely that you will see more variance in your Google rankings because Google's internal databases are going to be updated every 1-2 days instead of every 3-4 weeks.
Google usually reveals PageRank updates quarterly to the public. A new PageRank update is underway. However, this does not mean that your Google rankings will change because the new PageRank values are already incorporated into their ranking algorithms.

Google's supplemental results should be nothing to be afraid of. If your site shows up in the supplemental results, then don't worry. According to Matt Cutts, the PageRank of a web page determines if the page appears in the regular or supplemental results.
The supplemental results continue to get fresher, "and website owners may see more traffic from their supplemental results pages."
Google plans to change the "filetype:" operator so that it doesn't require an additional query word.

This year looks to be a great year for everything in our life here in Kansas City. I am very excited to help my wife with her donation collection during the 3-Day training.

Sometimes I think my wife is just nutts but last year at the closing cerimonies really hit home.

It took me back to being a kid watching my mother go through kemotherepy and she still walked strong flying out to visit with all of the walkers on the last fundraiser of the walk to help the ladies that did not finish making their goals. Webmasterworld Pubcon 2006 - Vegas Update #3

Pubcon started with some long lines today with everyone excited and eager to hear Guy Kawasaki speak. Once they opened the morning event open to go in without a pass due to the huge amount of people at this event. I think in my times going to the Vegas Pubcon Conference Events this has to be the biggest group I have seen. It was great almost every chair was filled each room I attended.

Another great new project of mine is to learn more about Second Life: Your World. Your Imagination.

The speakers were awesome, and explained in detail how to optimize and do better internet marketing with a few extra pointers along the way. I really enjoyed the morning sessions about social marketing strategies as well other alternatives to online optimization tips.

Todd Malicoat had some great add-ons to the picture of what not to do when marketing and the importance of contributing to social search networks. He really focused on not spamming them but use them to help visitors get what they are looking for not filling the networks full of junk.

I also enjoyed the session for Content, they spoke about how to build a quality site with meaning and showing us ways to develop stronger conversions by learning to understand what your visitors want to read about. How can you display your message by keeping it simple.

Day One - Pubcon 2006 Vegas

Well I got in last night around 8pm and got all setup in my hotel room at the Alexis Park Resort & Spa so far it has been a great stay. The room they gave us is huge, I have a spa in my room and it is a 2 story hotel room almost like a little condo.

My business partner Rick Noble and I went over to a Chinese Restaurant in China Town Vegas, as he said the best Chinese food he has had. Well the bummer part was the small little restaurant was no longer in business however right next to the building we found a really great Chinese restaurant that WOW was great.

I am looking forward to seeing all my friends I have made in the past from the other Pubcon Events I have attended in the past.

I am looking forward to meeting Guy Kawasaki as I have heard a lot of great things about his speaking skills. Also I will be attending these Pubcon Sessions today.

Webmasterworld Pubcon 2006 - Vegas Update #1

I will be flying out tomorrow, my wife and kids just got on a plain to my wife’s parents house while I am out of town at Pubcon 2006...

Well I am just getting finished packing and getting ready to head out to work in the morning then jump on a plain to Vegas to attend one of the most popular events in Search Engine Marketing. Soon there will be over a thousand high-level webmasters attending an event that is put on by Webmasterworld.com the CEO / Brett Tabke.

This event offers a high level of education for SEO (Search Engine Optimizers) other known as Webmasters. It also has sessions that are geared a bit lower for the new guys just getting into SEO as well business owners to help them understand what other marketing options they have.

I have attended tons of these events, and every Pubcon event just gets better every year.

Pubcon 2006 November 14-17 / Search Engine Marketing Conference

It is yes once again for Webmasterworld Pubcon SEO Conference, It looks like they have another sold out crowd. I just got my hotel today at the Las Vegas Flamingo on the strip, because the Las Vegas Hilton is sold out as well the Renaissance Las Vegas hotel.

I will be flying in for the conference on Monday Night. I will be bringing my CEO and Business Partner to this event and it will be his first. He loves what we do and is fascinated with the technology that goes into Internet Marketing he attended the Search Engine Strategies Conference also known as SES San Jose. We had a great time; I introduced Rick Noble to some of my friends from other Pubcon events I attend. I plan on getting him into some of the topics he heard about at SES, such as Social Marketing Sessions.

I have not found out where Brett is taking us for the last day Conference Event in Las Vegas.

Yahoo Update August, 30 2006 - Search Results Update

Well Yahoo seems to have done it again, Go Yahoo!

It's great all the competition between search engines worldwide, Yahoo is doing really well in my eyes in the last few days. Yahoo has updated the search algorithm again. This time it seems that they are developing a stronger index do to my last experiences on the web I search on that search engine more than Google. I feel every search I have been getting on Google have been 60% Search Spam. I have noticed I get more answers to my searches on the internet, as well more around my search topic.

For Example if you search:

Trout Worms
On Yahoo Search
Results for the Top 10 that are very relivent to the search. Like Cabelas.com, Basspro.com and many others. I feel these are almost accurate to what I would search for my daily fishing habits.

I think if he keeps this up then search engine optimizers can not only create great sites that can be found by search engines as well get useful tips from Matt Cutts himself on how not to get banned from Google or other search engines.
