You need to take the horizontal strap ("sidewinder" I think they call it) and put it around the outside of the wheel and bag. It also helps to run a strap around the fork crown to the opposite v-rack, the idea being to pull the fork across and create tension against the sidewinder. (I'm not explaining this very well, sorry)

The advantages are that you don't have to take the front wheel off and add no extra weight. It's also marginally more stable because the rear wheel is on the ground taking some of the towed bike's weight.

The big disadvantage is that you have to pad the fork or it will scrape against the V-rack and deck and given enough trips it will start to wear through the sleaves on the freeloader. If you load the towed bike on the xtracycle's drive side and don't strap it right the front wheel can also bang against the derailler.

The towed bike tracks quite well, much like a bob trailer, but really tight right angle corners can cause it to flop over. No technical singletrack whilst towing I'm afraid.Coelecanthhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17886124862805759520noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7835882.post-90885291917812329952007-02-08T17:00:00.000-06:002007-02-08T17:00:00.000-06:00crazy. i thought the space lady thing was a joke o...crazy. i thought the space lady thing was a joke or a fictional story idea you were pitching - but i googled it to be sure. its no joke. clearly i live under a rock or some stories just don't get over the border.

the xtra cycle set-up is awesome. one less reason to own a car.cyclingdavehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06826481517451200786noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7835882.post-71446381973771317152007-02-08T13:48:00.000-06:002007-02-08T13:48:00.000-06:00haha....not without my space suit diapers!haha....not without my space suit diapers!meganhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10452962565254320332noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7835882.post-10680449522062757182007-02-08T12:24:00.000-06:002007-02-08T12:24:00.000-06:00Way Cool....You aren't planning any cross country ...Way Cool....

You aren't planning any cross country rides to pepper spray someone are you?

;)Cellarrathttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04685170404057881390noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7835882.post-65019655337012207552007-02-08T10:49:00.000-06:002007-02-08T10:49:00.000-06:00Wow!
