For those of you that don't know, thousands have had their power shut off this year, with the number looking to reach 70,000 before years end. WE Energies, a company that makes 1 million dollars a day in pure profit, has stated that it has done "all it can" to help low income people deal with their ever increasing utility rates.

The time has come for serious community action, and the Campus Greens of UWM plans on being right in the thick of things! We plan on going out there and helping the GMGP and Damien Jones organize community actions to show WE Energies and the State Legislator that we are not going to take this anymore! Gas and especially electricity have gone well beyond the point of being mere 'luxuries' in our society. In fact, if you have your power shut off and you are renting, your landlord has the right to evict you due to 'unsafe living conditions'!

For so many who are living well below the poverty line, these utilities expenses are simply out of reach, and WE Energies has refused to be reasonable in dealing with the crises. This affects us all in one way or another; be it your power close to being shut off or your rent going up to help the landlord pay for ever rising electric and gas bills.

The time has come for us all to get involved. Without serious action on the part of the community nothing will EVER change, and in fact things will continue to get worse! So join with us and help both put a stop to WE Energies war on the poor and put Damien Jones into office so that we'll have a stronger voice in how our community is governed!
DennisGhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11348614881453418559noreply@blogger.com
