Great job at the meet Saturday. I can't wait to see what she can do in the years to come. We sure are glad to have Kaitlynn back after an ankle injury!

This year to Last year comparison:

Kelsey Wildes: 21:42- Nicole: 24:34
Kalia Wildes: 22:57-Kalia: 25:02
Avery Watson: 23:32-Lindsey: 25:18
Shelby Taylor: 24:08-Jordan: 25:27
Kaitlynn Ware: 26:00-Hope: 25:33
Abby Watkins: 26:32

Chase is only three seconds off of his All-State time from last year. That means he is about two weeks ahead of schedule. I look for a 15-20 second drop come State meet time. BUT we have to have our two and three step up for the Championships they are about a minute off of schedule. Extra credit for Chris Norton who has been very consistent and hard working the entire year. Glad to have Zac back competing since his injury two weeks ago.

This year to last year comparison (times taken from the State meet which is where all of our boys had PR's last year). Training and racing on BIG Hills make a runners legs strong and will help build endurance which in turn will reduce overall fatigue on a "REGULAR" course. I am glad we got this race in! I was pleased with times this weekend considering the course. Competition was tough to say the least and I was proud of how you all handled yourselves against real deal competiton.

Tips and comments for each athlete:

GIRLS:I would like to see a closer gap time again with you at Menard. This week we had way too much space between our 2-3 runners! Our girls are all about the same level esp in practice and should race as such!
Kalia, you looked very strong and confident out there. REmember to relax your face when fatigue sets in.. when your face tightens your shoulders follow and so on.
Kelsey had a strong race as did Kaitlynn. Kelsey, you need to be to the right or left of Kalia if at all possible. You can do it!
Kaitlynn, i have been extremely proud of your efforts over the last few weeks. You are like a brand new runner and I commend you for continuing to work hard!
Avery you have been doing great. We discussed working again on your stride length and turn over in order to eliminate the choppy short stride you acquire during exhaustion. You are not racing yet to your capability probably due to not feeling well recently. We might need to discuss backing you down on "extra" workouts during the week in PE in order to get your racing where it needs to be.
Shelby, had a great finish this week and continued to move up throughout the race. I still think you are capable of a lot more and I am glad you are back on board!!!

*Remember the white on rice and/or the WOLF PACK mentality. We have to move through the race together or very near one another. We will get another chance to do that at the Menard meet but this time it will be against other schools that are considered to be in the "small school division" It is important we prepare ourselves mentally and physically for this race as it will give us a good gage as to where we stand state wide.

BOYS:Chase: Great finish this week. You looked much stronger this week as compared to last week and a top ten finish at this race was a great accomplishment. Please praise yourself.
Zac:Nice effort this week from Zac! It was nice to see you running up front with Chase again... To the right or left of Chase is where you belong!
Landon... way to hang in there. My dream is see you all cross the line together in a top ten fashion:) We still have a lot of work to do if that is going to come to pass this year but we are well on the way. You have had a great first season so far. Keep working hard.
Dakota is right where he needs to be for a team 5th runner and is doing an amazing job. Can you believe he is only in the 8th grade???? Talk about an individual that can rise to competition. The problem is he is running #4 for our team with older guys who can and should be moving up! I know that Chris is capable of running with him and we def missed him this week but it sure would be nice to have one of you guys in between Landon and Dakota for a more dominate team standing!
Hunter and Jason looked much better this week than in the past few weeks and I was proud of thier efforts.
Congrats to Josh on completing his first 3 mile Varsity race. Not a bad time for a first timer:) Again, like with the girls the key is going to be running together and up front. WHITE ON RICE!

Again, great job this weekend. I am unsure of official results but will post those team standings asap:Individuals:Kalia: 23:29Kelsey: 23:46Kaitlynn/Avery: 25:16Shelby: 25:33
GT:2:04Last week GT: 1:16

Chase:CONGRATS for a top ten finish!!! I was especially proud of our girls this week who ALL made some great showings! Times aside .. you all competed very well. We still have some work to do for a top five spot at District but we are well on the way. On the boys side we had some okay preformances and some FABULOUS preformances. Extra props this week to our new comer to Varsity Dakota Rothell. Dakota really came up big for the boys team placing in the top 20 and stepping up as a number 4 man for the team. I was pleased on EVERYONE's finish this week on both sides and want you to continue to "change gears" when it's time to finish. Remember to RUN through the line.. Not just to the line. Team championships are won and lost this way!

-Remember to take your coaches ques during the race! If we say "Go now"at the finish or "focus on Blue" we say it for a reason. Do your best to respond to what we are telling you for a better race outcome.

Great job for everyone this week!

runner51noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-782344781796529308.post-87662931370310654732008-09-19T08:17:00.000-07:002008-09-19T08:40:08.981-07:00C.E.
