Stonewall Labour party KAPO sell out GLBT people over the Equality Bill

I've felt it for some time that those in the ivory tower of GLBT Stonewall safe within the homosexual ghetto of the M25 enclave, have sort of lost touch with other gay people who live with the reality of impact & affect of daily homophobia & continued institutional discrimination in the UK.

I really got this when STONEWALL sent a list of lawyers who (mainly would not practise West of Bristol for less than £400/hr) this list sent to a homeless 15yr old gay youth in Cornwall when he asked for help from Stonewall(unsuccessfully)...if he could afford a lawyer at £400/hr he would not have been living on the streets, bit difficult for STONEWALL to grasp that & don't forget Intercom Trust would not lift a finger to assist the youth, to busy with their mewling & crawling to doff their groveling cap & touch their forlock to Devon & Cornwall Constabulary homophobes!

As you can imagine the homeless 15yr old youth got ZERO, NO legal or any other help from Stonewall (or Intercom Trust) regarding the abuses he suffered from homophobic Cornwall Social Services (Jim Walters amongst many other Cornwall Social Services employees) & Devon & Cornwall Constabulary employees( DC Magnus Scott amongst many other police officers).

Now Stonewall is selling out more widely GLBT people (again) over the Equality Bill.

"The Equality Bill should be renamed the Inequality Bill. While other vulnerable groups are protected against harassment, protection is denied to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people. We are explicitly excluded from the anti-harassment clauses of the Bill," said Peter Tatchell of the LGBT human rights group OutRage!.

"This legislation was supposed to harmonise and standardise all equality laws, so that everyone has the same rights and protection. Sadly, it enshrines in law discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

"The leading gay lobby group, Stonewall, supports this discriminatory legislation, claiming that homophobic and transphobic harassment are not significant problems and can be dealt with under existing legislation.

"Stonewall boasts that its stated purpose is to "promote equality," yet it is ignoring the unequal treatment of LGBT people in this Bill. This collusion with discrimination reinforces the fear that Stonewall has compromised its political independence and is too closely identified with the Labour government.

"At the same time that Stonewall is laudably campaigning against homophobic bullying in schools, it is supporting legislation that effectively allows school authorities to harass LGBT pupils. Schools are exempt.

"The so-called Equality Bill denies protection against homophobic harassment by school authorities, by the owners and managers of properties and by the providers of services. Such harassment is outlawed on the grounds of age, disability, gender reassignment, race and sex but not on the grounds of sexual orientation.

"This omission gives a green light to homophobes. They won't face sanctions for homophobic harassment under this proposed law.

"Exempting schools from the anti-harassment clauses is particularly shocking and unforgiveable, given the widespread bullying of lesbian and gay pupils. We urge the government to amend the Equality Bill immediately.

"The legislation has an anti-transgender bias. Protection against harassment is restricted to those people who are proposing or have undergone gender reassignment, and transgender pupils in schools are excluded from the Bill's anti-harassment protections.

"The definition of transgender people is too narrow. Those who are not yet planning or have not yet undergone gender reassignment are not protected by the Equality Bill. The legislation should be amended to give protection on the wider grounds of gender identity, not the narrow grounds of gender reassignment.

"The Equality Bill has the overall good intention of harmonising and equalising all equality laws, to create a level legislative playing field. But this positive goal is undermined by the government's recent announcement that it plans to exempt faith schools from its action plan to tackle homophobic prejudice and bullying. They will be allowed to teach sex and relationship education in accordance with their own religious values, which often include the idea that gay people are sinners, unnatural, immoral and inferior human beings.

"Such values reinforce homophobia, which can lead to homophobic harassment, discrimination and violence,"

wrote Peter Tatchell of OutRage!

Cornwall Police breached the Human Rights Act Freedom of Expression through Art and have continued their relentless homophobically motivated vendetta from 2004 up until the present...but the IPCC turned a blind eye & there is NO legal protection unless you can pay for it in Britain.

Police = Are the primary Homophobic problem of Hate Crime in the United Kingdom)

Today 38 Degrees passed an important milestone: the 10,000th person got involved.

38 Degrees is growing fast, and the more of us there are the more powerful we will become.

I personally joined 38 Degrees because I was sick to death of the arrogance & total lack of accountability of dishonest, corrupt, abusive & homophobic attitudes & practises of Cornwall police officers I have personally encountered in the Devon & Cornwall Constabulary since 2004 which has cost me both my businesses & nearly cost my life through suicide due to Cornwall police intimidation, lies & dishonesty.

The complete failure of those in authority (IPCC, Cornwall Police Authority & Senior Police Officers) supposed to be responsible for keeping a check & balance on police abuses of power & criminality, but who fail, us the public repeatedly.

The entire judicial process & legal system more concerned with how much money they can make than it is in justice & protecting the ordinary citizen in the UK from institutional abuses & violations, attacks in particular HOMOPHOBIA by police upon Human rights & civil liberties.

Passing the 10,000 people joined 38 Degrees mark something worth celebrating.

Together, in just 7 weeks, 38 degrees has had a real impact. For example:

• We've forced a Recall Law onto the political agenda, and are ready to push for it to be finally introduced when the moment comes. We've sent a clear message to MPs that we want real reforms in response to the MP expenses scandal.
• We've stood together to say no to a secret inquiry into the Iraq War. We made sure our petition was seen by every MP on the day Parliament voted, adding to the pressure which changed Gordon Brown's mind.
• We've made the headlines in national newspapers from the Daily Sport and the Daily Mail to the Independent and the Guardian, as well as TV and radio.
• We've joined forces with other organisations to demand new rules to rein in lobbyists and new ways to have our say in political reform.
We're still new, and we're still learning.

IPCC raise Cornwall Police failure to follow procedure

IPCC raise Cornwall Police failure to follow procedure

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) have written to me (10/07/09) because Devon & Cornwall Constabulary Professional Standards Unit have failed to record a decision within the 14 days allowed regarding the catalogue of previously reported complaints which have not been investigated, accumulative abuses, failure of duty of care, homophobic attitudes & practices as carried out by named and/or identifiable police officers primarily from Camborne & Helston police stations from 2004 up until-2009, on going.

This has become the commonplace benchmark behaviour of Devon & Cornwall’s contempt (corruption) towards gay persons making complaint of homophobic conduct of numerous Cornwall police officers. This police delaying tactic only further compounds the original police abuse.

Police seem to rely upon gay complaintents becoming intimidated or frustrated by their police administrative delays into giving up pursuing legitimate grievances against police. That has been our vile experience of Devon & Cornwall police contempt towards gay persons since 2004-to-2009, up until the current & present police action.

This has been compounded by the Devon & Cornwall FOI (Freedom of Information Act) requests regarding complaints about police homophobia, first being denied to Lord Mc Dowell as being too great, taking in excess of 18hours. Then when individual request were made to Devon & Cornwall Constabulary, this was deemed as vexatious and refused (All the individual requests are interconnected due to the homophobic targeted gay victim/s of Cornwall police abuses, etc).

There is a sinister, genuine and serious problem operative as normal acceptable practise within the Devon & Cornwall Constabulary in its attitudes & practises in further victimising gay persons and no accountability or responsibility taken within the Devon & Cornwall Constabulary for failures to even follow legal laid down procedure.

An IPCC appeal form has been completed and sent to the IPPC regarding the multiple complaints referred to the PSD by the IPCC, not being recorded (ignored) by the Devon & Cornwall Constabulary Professional Standards Department. Further adding to the abuse of the gay victims of police abuse by the (in our experience) obtuse, arrogant & contemptuous way in which complaints made by gay persons are repeatedly & systematically dismissively handled by Devon & Cornwall constabulary, under the command of Chief Constable Stephen Otter.

...And so the Homophobic attitudes & practises of Devon & Cornwall Constabulary continue in 2009.

Chief Constable Stephen Otter, (the hilariously & laughably appointed ACPO lead on "Equality & Diversity" whilst his police officers are still allowed to compound homophobia).

Not forgetting Cornwall Police Authority who PROTECT abuses carried out by Devon & Cornwall police

...and the ineffectual toothless poodle, the IPCC (who even by their own admission did not bother to interview x14 named witnesses) and who completly disregarded entire swaths of interrelated complaints reported to them regarding the above police officers since 2004.

Yes, the above named police officers(& a few I inadvetantly missed) are directly responsible for not only creation of this blog (& my youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/thepinkpasty), but also the genuine need for its continuence!

I guess these police officers truely created my role as a citizen journalist reporting through this blog & other various other channels due to Cornwall police attitudes, abuse practises & violations against gay persons.

That's what can happen when police violate a mans lawful & legal life as a gay man, because I was taught to stand up to bullies, regardless what unifoirm they hide their homophobic prejuidice & discrimination behind, whether Nazi, BNP or Devon & Cornwall Constabulary...there is little difference in my experience?

Of course thats not say I do not live in perpetual fear of Cornwall's homophobic police & I do sleep with a cricket bat beside me, following the most recent attack upon our home. With Cornwall police, who needs Neo-nazi's?

KAPO: a term used for certain prisoners who worked inside German Nazi concentration camps during World War II in various lower positions of authority over other death camp prisoners.

KAPO’s in the Nazi death camps received more privileges than normal prisoners, towards whom they were often extremely brutal. The KAPO were offered this work in exchange for a better terms & conditions, increased rations, power over other inmates, etc.

One objective of the Nazi appointed KAPO was to single out other death camp inmates most likely to be dissident, or potential organizers of resistance to Nazi camp regime. By this additional method, along with beatings, starving & other treatment the general death camp populations were cowed & kept in order like sheep by the Nazi lap dogs, the KAPO.

There are some in today’s gay population who are in effect acting as watered down neo-KAPO to today’s Cornish authorities, which continue to exercise homophobic attitudes & practices towards & against gay persons in Cornwall.

These neo-KAPO’s in some GLBT organisations, carry out the bidding of their masters & sell their souls to their STR8 fund providers or for personal or commercial gain. These same neo-KAPO desperate to ’heterosexualise’ homosexuality by assimilating gay people into the STR8 heterosexual Borg hive collective. These neo-KAPO in GLBT groups, projects & organizations actively ostracize & exclude those gay persons who may voice a dissident opinion & dare complain due to knowledge & experience of continuing prejudicial homophobic activities within Cornish statutory organizations, the KAPO’s masters.

Lord knows it was made very plan to myself & other gay persons who had experienced Cornwall police homophobia, that we as GLBT activists & campaigners were NOT welcome at the 2008 Cornwall Pride event in which the homophobic Cornwall police had considerable influence & exercised some considerable control in 2008.

They might just as well flown a pair of the Chief Constables stained Y-fronts from Truro police station last year instead of the Rainbow flag, since it will take more than that to erase decades of police abuse of gay people in Cornwall. Amongst other far more recent & intended homophobic abuses of gay people right up until the present.

The modern gay neo-KAPO marginalize & vilify any gay person who may dare be critical or express their experience of institutional homophobia, in particular that of continuing affects of police abuse

Such is the case with some GLBT groups & organizations operating in Cornwall today.

Neo-KAPO gays within organizations have refused to assist Cornish gay youth abused by Cornwall police & social services. These same neo-KAPO gays have refused to help gay persons victims of homophobic assaults & even abuse by Cornwall police. These neo-KAPO gays have excluded gay persons from GLBT groups & organizations in Cornwall.

It is for that reason I strongly advise any gay person abused by police (or any other) NOT to involve the Intercom Trust.

Some neo-KAPO gays have even gone so far as to attack & have vilified Cornish artists, in particular the branding of Henry Scott Tuke RA (Royal Academy) as a pedophile & excluded Tukes historic & acclaimed iconic homocentic art from LGBT history in the southwest.

Much of Tukes work can be found in Britain’s most prestigious galleries & museums, even the Daily Mail (not known for being homo friendly) promoted the largest ever Tuke exhibition held in Cornwall’s Truro city museum last year. Many of the paintings loaned by prolific Tuke collector, Sir Elton John, but condemned by Intercom Trust as pedophilia.

Other neo-KAPO gays have declined to investigate homophobic abuses carried out by their homophobic Cornwall police colleagues. Such is the desperate simpering & fawning of some gay neo-KAPO to appease their straight & still homophobic masters in Cornwall

In just a few short years according to the Nazi own records 100,000 GLBT persons had been rounded up and sent to prison under 175 of the German Penal code. Ten thousand of these gay persons ended up in the Nazi death camps.

History has a nasty habit of repeating itself and already has started to do so...

The Tory party has recently gotten into bed & snuggled down with a right wing Polish political part in European Parliament which wishes to criminalise gay persons. Conservative love of section 28 & opposition to gay equality is after all a matter of record.

There is no doubt in my mind that the majority of Cornwall’s police, who although they may be precluded from joining the NEO-FASCIST British National Party undoubtedly hold BNP homophobic views on homosexuality based on my experience of Cornwall police attitudes & practices of Cornwall police officers based at Camborne & Helston police stations.

There must be British Armed Forces corpses who died fighting Nazi fascism in WWII, spinning in their graves from the D-Day landings through to the Berlin Brandenburg gates given that 60,000 people in the South West actually VOTED for BNP fascism at the recent European Election.

How many of those voters were police officers one has to wonder?

The gay neo-KAPO in some of Cornwall’s gay organizations quite happy to contribute in the process of driving institutionally abused gay persons to attempted suicide. (Let us not forget there were four known gay male suicides in Cornwall in 2008 & several other non-related attempted suicides by other gay persons in Cornwall, some as a DIRECT result of police conduct & contributed too by the Cornish gay neo-KAPO)

I find myself excluded & targeted by these neo-gay KAPO within the Intercom Trust, the police run LGBT-Pact & Healthy Gay Cornwall for my dissident outspokenness over two decades on the continuing institutional abuses in Cornwall by the homophobic Cornwall police & other Cornish authorities.

With cruising a way in which some gay/bisexual men meet others in particular in primarily rural areas like the southwest (Cornwall & Devon) where alternative opportunities to liaise & socialize, or just have sex are few and far between.

The recent activities of homophobes running a website against gay cruising in Devon are causing considerable concern. Hayle Towans in Cornwall & other such sites may well be targeted next by these anti-gay vigilantes.

Pinknews website is reporting that the Information Commissioner is to investigate a SouthWest anti-cruising website after an exclusive report by PinkNews.co.uk.

The anti-cruising website, set up to raise awareness of the "disgusting" practice of gay men meeting for sex, publishes uncensored images of car registration plates and faces of men allegedly involved in Devon.

http://www.cruisingscene.co.uk focuses on the Haldon area of Devon, near Exeter. Local residents have previously complained about finding used condoms and tissues in the area.

The anti-gay website warns: "All over the country there is a disgusting underground world that most decent members of society have little or no knowledge of. This world is one where outwardly heterosexual men with wives and families at home go out 'cruising'.

It adds: "Many of these men partake in unprotected sex with each other, indeed their preferences are advertised for all to see on the websites referred to above. They then obviously go home to their families and will resume 'normal sexual relations' within that home, passing on goodness knows what disease to these completely innocent people."

The irony is the area is frequently used by Heterosexual’s for the sexual activity & practice of ‘dogging’ but there is no mention or alluding to this fact by the anti -gay cruising site.

Several PinkNews.co.uk readers voiced their concerns about the anti-gay website. One reader, who wished to remain anonymous, said the site was "vile" and "homophobic". Word is that Devon & Cornwall police response has been weak & insipid to concerns expressed by gay persons.

"What is really worrying is what … this sort of vigilantism can lead to. The Sexual Offences Act of 2003 was supposed to mean that we can now meet in public, but if we have to tolerate this sort of one-sided behavior, then no real gains in our freedom has been achieved.
"Cruising areas, in rural areas especially, mean a place where gay and bisexual men can meet, as usually the surrounding towns and villages are poorly served by gay bars."

This a particular problem in the south west

Cruising areas near some major cities in the UK are being reported as being targeted by vigilante gangs of youths of particular fervent ethnic religious views & background, and intimidating and threatening gay/bisexual persons at these sites. This sort of anti-gay practice with encouragement of such an anti-gay website is likely to spread further to the South West.

Although the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) was initially unsure whether the anti-gay cruising site was breaching data protection laws, it is now launching an investigation.

An ICO spokesman is supposed to have said "We will be investigating this website to establish if it is processing personal data and if so, whether it is in compliance with the Data Protection Act."

One company, whose van was featured on the website with its registration number and company details clearly visible, said its vehicle was not in the area for cruising, adding it would be contacting the ICO to have the image removed.

Stephen Loughrey of Carter-Ruck, a law firm which specialises in libel and privacy law is reported as having said "In my view this is a gross invasion of the privacy of the people whose photographs have been published. The activity being reported upon here is consensual sex between adults. While it is distinguishable from the circumstances of the Mosley case (in that the activity being reported upon is happening in public), there is no public interest in publishing unpixalated photographs showing the car number plates and faces of those purportedly engaging in this activity.
"Although the individuals involved may not have a reasonable expectation of privacy while engaging in the activity, they have a legitimate and entirely reasonable expectation that photographs of them doing so will not be published to the world at large.
"While the activity may potentially constitute a minor public order offence (if for example local people have raised complaint), the degree of the intrusion into the private lives of those pictured is not proportionate to the public interest supposedly being served by the publication."

The response of one commentator on Pink News website was:-
"Living in Exeter, I have to say that Haldon is notorious for dogging as well as for gay cruising, so it is definitely homophobic to single out "gay" men for particular condemnation. The website cruising.co.uk makes the point that up to 80% of men cruising for sex with men are "straight" (interesting to see how they collected that statistic?).

There was an alleged policewoman threatening to patrol and prosecute men who frequent cruising areas in the south west a couple of years ago, and who posted the same on cruising sites (Haldon was a specific target then!). So the source of this latest attack must include Devon and Cornwall police in its list of suspects, simply because the local police have tolerated this sort of homophobic practise from within their own ranks before, and frankly the local "LGBT liason officers" are not worth their salaries in effective, or affirmative action. No wonder Exeter Police have not replied!

The kind of condemnation of homosexuality seen in this website seems to be a direct attempt to influence those who are closeted about their sexuality; married men, and men who feel they can not live openly with the burden of being "out" and facing the social stigma that still remains in Britain today, largely peddled by the sort of person who reads the Daily Mail, the Sun, or believes Doris Karloff (a.k.a. Anne Widdecombe who is moving here, probably to further support the homo-phobic Evangelical Christian Union's efforts to undermine the University's Equality and Diversity commitments like she did last year).

Whatever your personal feelings are towards cruising, frankly we should not condemn people who feel this is the only way they can express their sexuality. Paradoxically, this sort of contact can seem to some to be anonymous, and the only way they can fulfil their desire, away from their families or colleagues, or from public bars where they may be known, or from contact websites where they may feel exposed.

If we do not speak for those who are voiceless; the clandestine, the fearful, the anonymous; if we do not defend those, then who will speak up or defend us? We must recognise that a lot of this sexual behaviour is a reaction to society's ongoing demonisation of homosexuality, especially from the religious right. The crushing society norms force men to fulfill their desires at anonymous cruising sites rather than openly in normal social contexts (including websites), since these are hetero-centric and only the "out" gay man can legitimately exist there, and then only on suspicious sufferance. Such "normalising" behaviour militates against the multiple sexual identities of many men.

It is time we stopped trying to "heterosexualise" homosexuality by aping false heterosexual identities (like the monogamous, christian, married couple) and supported a more rounded view of sexuality that, while including monogamy, also accepts the legitimacy of polygamy and polyamory and other sexual expression.
If we did a little more of that, and got society to see how it demonises itself (since most heterosexuals who attempt monogamy eventually fail), then perhaps the need for such spaces would diminish.

I also have to add that the disappointment felt towards Intercom (Trust) mainly stems from its own "hetero-normative" stance. As an organisation it alienated many Cornish people earlier this year by accusing a famous dead Cornish artist (Henry Scott Tuke) of being a paedophile. The artist is bound up in the Cornish discourse of identity, so Intercom was particularly insensitive and deserves its many criticisms".

Other gay persons have also expressed grave concern that gay men involved in any homophobic incident regarding cruising or conflict with police regarding their sexuality should NOT under ANY circumstance involve the Intercom Trust.

(NB:-It should be noted that the Equality & Human Rights Commission did state that Intercom Trust may have breached articles of the Human Rights Act regarding their attack upon the iconic artwork of Henry Scott Tuke)

The anti-gay cruising site website's domain name listed as belonging to the cartoon character "Scooby Doo". But 123-Reg, PinkNews.co.uk report the company that processed the domain name registration, told PinkNews.co.uk that they believe the name belongs to a Mike Rowland. The rest of the information they have on file is fake so it is difficult to trace him.

Professor Peter Sommer, a well-known expert in privacy and data protection at the London School of Economics, is reported by PinkNews.co.uk as having said "If the pictures were taken in a public place, there is probably no protection the Information Commissioner can give. But there is possible protection under privacy rights in human rights laws, such as those used by celebrities who have been photographed with their children or worse for wear coming out of a nightclub. Whether there is a public interest is arguable."

PinkNews.co.uk reported they had contacted Exeter police but have yet to receive a response.

Other gay channels report Devon & Cornwall Constabulary response had been weak.

Today, peers in the House of Lords thwarted a move to help protect gay persons from hate crime & homophobia by voting to keep a "free speech" as a defence to the law on inciting homophobic hatred.

Lord Waddington argued there should be no assumptions that discussion or criticism of a sexual practice constituted an attempt to stir up hatred.

He told peers: "One must look at the circumstances and the manner in which the words are spoken to see whether they were in fact threatening and driven by hate."

The government should be "declaring boldly" that letting people express their views, including views other people may not like is what a free society is all about, he added.

Soooo, that is what was meant by Devon & Cornwall Police who contributed to a catalogue of homophobically motivated police abuses in Cornwall.

Inspector Mark Bolt previously of Helston Police station, responded in writing, regarding a women in Helston who had screamed “FUCKING QUEER” in front of witnesses at a gay man that this was NOT harassment of the gay man.

Likewise Insp. Bolt also felt that it was NOT harassment of the same gay man by the same women, when she spread malicious rumor that the gay man had HIV/AIDS, even indicating as much in a written police statement (When he did not and had to prove it with a letter from the GU Clinic).

The same women was later alleged by her own son, to have conspired with another in making a serious false allegation against the same gay man, but that was ‘OK’ with the Devon & Cornwall police homophobes too.

So THAT is what is clearly meant by the Lords & police by ‘free speech’, the right to abuse, intimidate & violate the lives of gay persons
...and with the blessing of homophobic attitudes & practices of both UK police & a discriminatory House of Lords.

Given even the police admit homophobic hate crime against gay persons increased by 60% last year.

In theory this means that individuals – priests, bishops, vicars and comedians or anyone really – are free in the UK to criticise, verbally abuse & violate persons of homosexuality without fear of legal reprisals, just like the homophobic Cornwall police already allow.

The Bishop of Winchester, a senior Anglican cleric, said: "What is at stake is whether this House and this Parliament intends to outlaw, among not just Christians but others, open discussion and teaching of views that differ from the currently dominant political orthodoxy."

Actually what is really at stake is the lives & well being of gay persons attacked & abused as a result of the Lords 'green light' on homophobia.

What the Bishop really seems to mean is the homophobic church and other prejudicial bodies can continue to get away with promoting their brand of hatred against gay people?

Some peers, as well as the Ministry of Justice, were disappointed with today's result, saying the free speech provision would be used as a defense by those looking to incite hatred towards gays and lesbians. But these homophobes need no defense as police officers like Cornwall police Inspector Mark Bolt will happily cover up for them anyway.

Just like the ‘gay panic defence’ has previously been used as a pretext to beat to death gay persons. ‘Honest gov, I thought the faggot might touch me, so I beat him to death’...its happened, Oh, look, just this week by homophobic police officers in Texas, when they raided a gay bar on the anniversary of the STONEWALL protest.

Such is the DEPTH of HOMOPHOBIC attitudes & practices within police forces STILL across the world!

At the time of wrting the victim of the latest abuse by homophobic police is still in a coma.

And the sort of ‘Free speech’ wanted by the House of Lords is already is being used to justify hatred, intimidation & the violation of gay people lives in the United Kingdom by political & religious zealots.

Like the Catholic Bishop of Motherwell who has previously claimed gays only attended Holocaust memorials to gain sympathy, the Bishop completely ignoring that the Nazi OWN records have shown over 100,000 GLBT persons were arrested under the 175 German penal code, some 10,000 of these persons ending up in the Nazi death camps.

But when has the truth ever been a concern to either religious persons...or the police?

"No reasonable person supports the stirring up of hatred of any kind," said Andrea Williams last month. Williams, the director of Christian Concern For Our Nation, who helped to co-ordinate opposition to the plan to protect gay people from hate crime. "However, in 21st-century Britain we must find a way of being able to live peaceably alongside one another allowing for free and robust debate around every aspect of life, including reasonable criticism and discussion of all forms of sexual behaviour."

Tell that to the person (just as likely to have been a homophobic Cornwall COPPER), who smashed last month the windscreen and side window of one of my vehicles, parked on my property on our very rural isolated location in Cornwall.

That was just the latest of Cornwall POLICE instigated acts of in a chain of violence & abuse directed towards our household initiated by the homophobic Cornwall police scum, since 2004.

Free speech, that’s a joke, when I reported the catalogue of abuses carried out by Cornwall police officers, and gave it as evidence to the British Government Human Rights 2009 enquiry, Devon & Cornwall Constabulary threatened in writing to prosecute me for daring to speak out.

I make no appology for copying the article below into my blogg. I am sick and fed up with homophobic police.

Here we are in the middle of the Gay Pride season & this is how police in America mark the 'Stonewall Riot', the initial cause & rise of Gay Pride. In particular I post this for the idiots who may believe police 'anywhere' including in Britain, are to be trusted by the GLBT population. Police ARE the primary HOMOPHOBIC PROBLEM

In Cornwall UK I know that homophobic values, attitudes & practises by police remain a genuine & serious problem which Chief Constable Stephen Otter the laughable police ACPO lead on so-called " Equality & Diversity" still cjooses to ignore reported Cornwall police abuses over the last few years.

This article below (not written by me) reminds us, yet again, that police are the ENEMY of GLBT people!

Cops Do Not Serve Gays, or Anyone ElseJuly 9, 2009
I found Rad Geek’s recent post on worldwide incidents of police brutality to be almost unreadably grim, and did not make it all the way through on my first attempt. Then, just when I thought it was safe to get back on the internet, I stumbled upon the following in Dan Savage’s column today:

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY: The police in Fort Worth, Texas, marked the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall rebellion by raiding a gay bar called the Rainbow Lounge. One of the men arrested, Chad Gibson, was so brutally assaulted by the police that, as of this writing, he remains hospitalized with a life-threatening brain injury.

Police Chief Jeff Halstead claims that the men at the Rainbow Lounge made lewd advances toward his officers and specifically accused Gibson, a slight 26-year-old, of groping one of his cops. This preposterous claim is contradicted by eyewitness accounts and photographic evidence.

We can’t let the police in Fort Worth use the Gay Panic Defense (”That fag touched me, so of course I beat him nearly to death!”) to excuse this brutal violation of the civil rights of Fort Worth’s gay community. The Facebook group has quite a following already, with 10,439 members as of this writing. I presume it is in part because the combination of homophobia and police brutality is politically explosive, especially among the younger, socially networked set. And I hope some justice comes of it, though I am quite skeptical. It is difficult enough to get justice for members of politically mainstream groups, much less marginalized ones that are losing all kinds of battles. I mean, there’s a movie coming out tomorrow that satirizes them (along with lots of other groups, to be sure, but I do see how gay men would laugh at Bruno one way while straight men laugh at him in another.)

Of course, the cheap homophobia evident in what Savage calls the Gay Panic Defense is laughable. But many of the victims on Rad Geek’s list don’t have their own Facebook group and were also abused on the flimsiest of pretexts. Here’s just one:

Northern Territory police pulled a former journalist named Greg Plasto off the street and forced him into the hospital for a mental health assessment because they thought he was acting strangely, in their arbitrary judgment, which apparently is good enough to put you in a psychoprison these days; after he had been forced to wait nearly two hours in an ambulance, he got up and said he wanted to go outside. Rather than asking him why he wanted to go outside, or just letting him get up and walk around, a gang of up to six cops tackled Plasto, who, again, had not been accused of any crime at all, then wrestled him to the ground, smashed his head into the ground, and held him down on the ground for four minutes while he turned blue and smothered to death. The coroner who reviewed the case says that the problem is that police need better training.

Then there’s the drunken, injured ER patient who went on the attack (according to his attacker):

In Chicago, Officer William Cozzi, a 15-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, was caught on video handcuffing a stabbing victim to a wheelchair, in the hospital emergency room, and beating him with a sap. He was called into the emergency room help the man out after he had been stabbed by a female companion. But his victim was drunk, and Cozzi was busy Investigating, so he got frustrated at the alleged beneficiary of this investigation, and decided to deal with his frustration by shackling the man to a wheelchair and beating him with a sap. Then he made up some complete lies for his police report about his victim having attacked him and hospital workers. After the video came out, Cozzi plead guilty to misdemeanor charges and got 18 months of probation.

To sum up, the police are not only dangerous to gays. As with the battle over gay marriage, however, I think there will be a focus on homophobia as the sole issue, rather than that of unchecked state power to destroy individual rights. This is not to say that homophobia isn’t an issue; it’s to say that marginalized groups are all the more vulnerable to abuse in an inherently corrupt system.

Rad Geek concludes that the problem is indeed systemic:

The answer is, of course, that most of the time, nobody does. Other arms of the government hardly ever hold government police accountable for abuse because they fob off responsibility to the discretion of their legally-privileged-and-immunized enforcers.

The government police hardly ever hold other government police accountable for abuse because they have no incentive to restrain the conduct of their fellow government cops, and a distinct professional interest in giving their colleagues as much latitude as possible in the exercise of unchecked power over their chosen targets.

And nobody outside of government can hold police accountable for abuse, because government refuses to recognize the right of any independent person or association to sit in judgment of its own actions, and so has legally declared the State and all its agents accountable to none save God alone. And if you want to know why, week after week, you see the same pattern of rampant, relentless, unchecked, unaccountable, unrepentant, overwhelming and intense violence, committed by government cops against people who are obviously harmless, helpless, or defenseless, in the defense of police prerogatives and inflicted against the very people who they are allegedly being privileged and paid to Serve and Protect — well, that’s pretty much why.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

The report on Human Rights Inquiry in the United Kingdom

Yesterday I received a copy of the Equality & Human Rights Commission report on Human Rights Inquiry in the United Kingdom and covering letter dated 2 July from Dame Nual O’Loan DBE, chair of the Human Rights Commission.

I had personally contributed by invitation to the evidence given to this report. I personally gave hours of verbal & written evidence to the appointed investigators from Kings College University, regarding my experience & observation of Human Rights (& other abuses) carried out by members of Devon & Cornwall Constabulary & other equally homophobic & discriminatory Cornish Authorities.

I remain in NO DOUBT homophobic attitudes & practises such as those I have experienced in recent years STILL remain widespread & protected practise within the homophobic scum I have encountered within the Devon & Cornwall police force.

When I received the Human Rights Commission report, I headed straight for the part on policing. I immediately realised the report was effectively worthless when credibility was given to worthless platitudes spouted & quoted by Chief Constable Steven Otter of the Devon & Cornwall Constabulary.

So little has or will change. The Police will continue to abuse, violate & traumatise with impunity.

Devon & Cornwall police will continue by ‘spin, smoke & mirrors’ talk about equality & diversity, human rights, whilst in reality the HOMOPHOBIC SCUM I have encountered & can name & identify are STILL working within and for the Devon & Cornwall Constabulary.

The Human Right Commission report of the Equality and Human Rights Commission has been consigned to the bin in our household

The report not worth Jack Schitt whilst people like Chief Constable Stephen Otter is given credibility, whilst abuses carried out by his Cornwall police officers remains acceptable police practise.

Meanwhile we wait to see if the Devon & Cornwall Constabulary Professional Standards unit turn (yet again) a blind eye to the catalogue of un-investigated abuses carried out by police officers from Camborne & Helston police station since 2004 as referred to them by the Independent Police Complaints Commission last month.

Don’t hold your breath Devon & Cornwall police will act with honesty, integrity, impartiality or transparency of conduct…as they DO NOT!

It is only due to members of the public that increasingly police abuses are being exposed in Britain today.

A man apparently being shot twice with a Taser gun by police in Nottingham in a mobile phone video taken by a citizen journalist.

The footage has prompted calls from human rights groups for the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) to investigate the incident and review the use of Taser guns by police. Like the buckets of whitewash from the IPCC will help?

The video shows four police officers converging on a man outside the city's Theatre Royal in an attempt to arrest him. One of them tells the other officers to stand back and fires a Taser at the person as he lies on the pavement. One of the officers then punches the man repeatedly.

Bystanders gather round and a policeman fires the Taser again at the man on the floor, while shouting: "Taser, Taser, Taser." The Taser gun consists of two darts on the end of wires containing a 50,000 volt electric shock.

Hundreds have died in the USA from use of Taser weapons.

The video was posted on YouTube.

Nottinghamshire police told the Press Association that officers were trying to arrest the 40-year-old man after they were called out by door staff at one of the city's nightspots; he was later charged on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

Assistant Chief Constable Peter Davies said: "We understand that some members of the public may be concerned about this ... which is why we have referred this matter for an objective investigation to the IPCC."

Unfortunately, those of us with first hand experience of the IPCC will not be reassured by them slapping around yet more white paint!

It seems strange for me, a gay man, to be writing about Cornwall Lesbian Line, but I feel the passing of this piece of landmark Cornish GLBT history must be recorded.

Cornwall Lesbian Line was a genuine real volunteer project. The Cornwall Lesbian Helpline started in 1989 back when the Cornish Authorities hardly bothered to hide their homophobia & contempt for gay persons.

Today, the laughable Cornwall Council Equality & Diversity Committee, LGBT PACT & Healthy Gay Cornwall all PRETEND to be gay friendly in their ‘spin’ & ‘mirrors’ but they still actively exclude gay persons who are not STR8 compliant & those with experience of the abuses carried out both in the past & the present in Cornwall by the authorities against gay persons!

The Cornwall Lesbian Line WAS genuinely a REAL gay support project, and strangely NOT just for women. Some of the callers were transsexuals & gay men who felt more confident speaking to a lesbian where there was no sexual conflict.

Bless the supporters of CLL & the Acorn Women’s Group in Penzance, who rallied to support my own dear partner Andy Smith, when he was diagnosed terminally ill with AIDS in 1994.

The Lesbian Line supporters (unlike some of the people involved in the loathsome Cornwall Health Authority, Probation Service run Gay Men’s Health project) really gave support, even holding an evening for Andy of panto, music & talent. The Women’s local rock group. ‘Out of the Blue’, playing some of Andy’s favourite songs, but that was back in the 90’s when Cornwall had a real sense of Gay & Lesbian community.

In the 1990’s I had run & published the ICT, a local Cornwall Lesbian & Gay newsletter, with a GLBT subscription base which rose to 1,000. Sue B (aka often known as Sue Books) was my women’s editor. I had to give up the ICT to care for Andy, who was by then blind & extremely ill. Sue B went on to help create along with Kate & other women, the lesbian newsletter OUTBACK.

OUTBACK newsletter worked hand in hand with CLL and ran as a women’s newsletter from 1996 to 2008.

But with the theoretical advances in Gay & Lesbian equality & the impact of the internet, times changed. The perception being, things were ‘supposed’? to be getting better for gay people. (The painful reality? Read the STONEWALL report on Homophobic Hate Crime in the UK and police reports of a 60% increase in violent hate crime carried out against GLBT persons last year).

The need & perception for an independent, genuinely Lesbian run helpline in Cornwall for lesbians (& other GLBT persons as it happens) changed. The closets, who had sat quietly saying & doing nothing through the difficult years of HIV/AIDS impact & the Conservative party section 28, started to crawl from beneath their stones. Many through having kept quiet were now in a position (thanks to the courage of those who had been out & campaigning) to get involved in running authority run & controlled GLBT projects.

With equality legislation & authorities no longer (in theory) able to discriminate against gay persons, these new GLBT projects started & rapidly diluted the effectiveness of former solely gay run projects.

These new projects run, controlled & influenced…not by the GLBT persons who had been battling away for decades, in support of gay people, but by pseudo ‘newbies’ in so-called gay equality & diversity’, who have very efficiently & effectively dismissed the work carried out by genuine, often unfunded & financially unsupported gay persons like Kate, Sue & Jo of CLL, Acorns Women’s group & OUTBACK.

The STR8 sanctioned newbies even re-writing history, like the ridiculous claim made last year that the Pride event in Cornwall 2008 was the 1st gay Pride in Cornwall…IT WAS NOT!

The Cornwall Lesbian Line, Women’s Acorn Group, ICT, Cornwall AIDS Council all helped in Cornwall GLBT Pride events in Cornwall way back in the 1990’s, even featuring in Gay Times. But when have the facts ever been of interest to Cornwall’s Police & Authorities when it comes to gay people.

Organisations like the loathsome “Intercom Trust” bulldozed over the history & experiences of gay people & gay groups with knowledge of abusive police & other authorities in Cornwall, so great was Intercom’s desperate haste to get into bed with these previously (and still) homophobic organisations & Cornish authorities.

Watching the Intercom Trust sell out local gay people in Cornwall & Cornish gay history has been a little like watching a Jewish Rabbi desperate to appease the former SS Nazi.

Intercom Trust have ISOLATED, OSTRACISED & EXCLUDED any GLBT person who does not comply or cowl to Intercom’s fawning mantra of how wonderful Devon & Cornwall police are too gay people

…Get it in your heads ‘Intercom’, the Devon & Cornwall police have NOT changed their leopard spots and are EVERY bit as bloody homophobic in their practises & attitudes towards & against gay persons today, as police have ALWAYS been in Cornwall!

The decision to close CLL & OUTBACK I know was a very difficult one by the women concerned. Cornwall Lesbian Line & OUTBACK organised over many years such diverse activities for women in Cornwall as Pantomimes, live bands, discos, cabarets, line dancing, belly dancing, quizzes, treasure hunts, walks, football, soft ball, rounders, b-b-q’s, etc. as well as being the essential support at the end of the CLL phone.

It made me feel better knowing that there was an Independent gay community run organisation, which had NOT succumbed to selling out GLBT persons in return for funding. So we are now seeing the death of probably the last truly gay community project in Cornwall & rise of commercial & authority led interests only over those of GLBT persons

…a sad, sad day!

I want to say thank you to Jo, Kate & Sue & others who have participated in CLL over the Twenty years.

I want to say thank you, in memory of my deceased Andy & for support, the Lesbian community of Cornwall gave us, when all the gay mens at the Op’s Room did was spat & harassed Andy when he was blind, for his daring to be seen in public when living with HIV/AIDS.

I want to say thank you, because I don’t want 20years of genuine GLBT history, campaigning & support by the women of CLL for gay people by gay people to simply slide unmarked into obscurity, over shadowed by the newbie STR8 run & dictated GLBT organisations in Cornwall.

It leaves me feeling very sad that with the demise of CLL & OUTBACK GLBT people in Cornwall are effectively being assimilated yet another step into the STR8 run hive collective Borg.

The chief constable of the country's second biggest police force has corrupt officers working for him but is powerless to sack them.

Edward Crew, head of West Midlands Police, said that some of his staff would have been automatically dismissed for dishonesty if they worked for a supermarket, but he was forced to keep them on because of protective practices.

"There are people working in this force that wouldn't be employed by Sainsbury's," he told The Independent. His concerns are shared by other chiefs throughout the country and the police complaints watchdog, who are urging the Jack Straw, the Home Secretary, to change the law.

Mr Crew, and fellow chief constables in England and Wales, have asked Mr Straw to reduce the standard of proof to allow forces to sack police officers considered corrupt or grossly incompetent. At present, it is extremely difficult to remove anyone - last year only 98 were sacked. To sack a police officer, evidence that proves "beyond reasonable doubt" that they are guilty is needed - a far higher standard than in civil cases or industrial tribunals. Instant dismissals are also prevented except in the most exceptional cases.

Mr Crew said: "In Sainsbury's, if they have a man whose hand is caught in the till they will release [sack] them. I couldn't do this, I have to prosecute and prove it beyond reasonable doubt. There are a very small number of officers in this force, and in the police service nationally, who I suspect of having been involved in serious breaches in the criminal law, where it's not possible to obtain evidence to prove beyond reasonable doubt they were involved in that behavior."

He continued: "I have officers in this force who should not be serving police officers. If we were assessing their standards of behavior to the standard required of other employers, these people would not be working."

He added: "I have officers who have been to court and have been found not guilty of criminal offences by a jury and they continue to serve in this force because I cannot, in the current arrangement, [use] evidence that was given to the court."

Earlier this week, the West Midlands Police became the second force to set up a confidential internal telephone hotline for staff to pass on information about suspected corrupt officers. The call for reform of the system by Mr Crew, and the Association of Chief Police Officers has the support of the independent Police Complaints Authority (PCA). The Home Secretary has agreed to re-examine the issue.

The Police Federation, which represents all ranks below superintendent - the vast bulk of the 127,000 officers in England and Wales - is furious at the action by chief constables and have accused them of reneging on early promises.

Sir Paul Condon, commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, has already criticised what he believes is a growing trend among police officers accused of serious corruption and malpractice of avoiding disciplinary hearings by taking sick leave and retiring on grounds of ill health with index- linked benefits.

Mr Crew is also critical of the "double jeopardy" system, whereby evidence used against a police officer in a criminal trial cannot be re-used at a disciplinary hearing. The Crown Prosecution Service has privately admitted that it sometimes fails to bring charges against a police officer because it fears a jury will acquit him or her and thereby deny an opportunity for the evidence to be heard at a disciplinary hearing.

Mr Crew also believes that the high level of proof prevents him from sacking some officers who he believes have sexually harassed female colleagues.
Peter Moorhouse, chairman of the PCA, yesterday agreed that there are some corrupt officers who are being protected by the system, but said they were a "small minority". A PCA spokesman said: "We sympathise with Mr Crew and would like to see changes to the system."

The Police Federation argues that the police need extra protection against malicious complaints. Ian Westwood, vice chairman of the federation, said: "If chief constables believe officers are corrupt they should be dealt with at court and sentenced to imprisonment. We are concerned that people will be got rid of without proper evidence just because someone suspects they are corrupt."

Pink Pasty Opinion & Experience. In Cornwall, unfortunately the above sort of police corrupt misconduct is ignored by senior rank as acceptable police abuse misconduct practise.

My own experience is of a wide scale homophobic culture within the police. My experience started with DC Woods in 2004 and has continued relentlessly as numerous other Cornwall police officers have contributed homophobic abuse & personal violations directed at myself as a gay man.

The problem is the IPCC is biased in favour protecting police misconduct & abuses & ignores complaints, evidence & witnesses. The Police Authorities no better & turn the other way & ignore complaints & the senior rank within the police are just as corrupt in refusing to address the problem.

Independent Police Complaint Commission refer HOMOPHOBIA complaint

I have received notification that the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) have finally (10th June 2009 yesterday) acknowledged complaints regarding Devon & Cornwall Police & have referred them to the Devon & Cornwall Constabulary Professional Standards Unit.

This has come about following a resolute dogmatic campaigning & questions through the Freedom of Information website http://www.whatdotheyknow.com about Devon & Cornwall Constabulary homophobia (including some questions from Lord Mc Dowell) about numerous un-investigated homophobic complaints regarding abusive practises & attitudes of multiple Cornwall police officers since 2004.

Not that we have ANY faith in ANY honesty of that particular branch of Devon & Cornwall Constabulary. My experience of the lies & deception of Cornwall police based on years of experience of police homophobic culture is that it is firmly embedded & hard wired into Police thinking throughout Devon & Cornwall Constabulary.

To our angst & considerable anger these complaints have also all been previously ignored when sent to:-

This is by no means a complete list nor does it cover ALL the Devon & Cornwall police officers involved in the impact, trauma & violating practises & the affects against gay persons who have been victim of this catalogue of abuse, in particular it does not identify senior police officer (who hide behind rank) with in theory, responsibility to manage subordinate officers conduct & behaviour.

All the above named (& those yet to be named) police officers have directly contributed to my experience of complete justifiable distrust in any honesty, integrity, impartiality or transparency of conduct of Cornwall police officers towards GLBT persons.

It has only been due to the ability to ask questions using FOI legislation, persistence through this Pink Pasty blog and over ONE MILLION, THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND views of Pink Pasty videos on YOUTUBE raising awareness of continued Cornwall police homophobic attitudes & practises, that the complaints have finally been acknowledged.

It has however; seriously almost cost me my very life, having been driven to attempted suicide SPECIFICALLY & DIRECTLY due to the combined practises, attitudes & multiple abusive misconduct of numerous Cornwall police officers, including that of Cornwall diversity officers!

Indicative of the depth of obstruction & homophobic values & practises still embedded & protected within both the police services and the complaints system towards complaints regarding gay peoples experiences, impact & trauma of police abuses.

The lies, disinformation, bullying, intimidation carried out by Cornwall police & experienced by complaintents from numerous vile & loathsome Cornwall police officers conduct (including conduct by some police Diversity Officers) & some gay organisations like the equally loathsome Intercom Trust (based in Devon) with the intent to bully, put off & brow beat gay victims from making legitimate complaint against police abuses

...is most sinister!

I was taught to stand up to bullies…no matter what uniform they wear, be it Nazi or police, but quite frankly in my experience there is precious little difference in the ideology of those wearing either uniform…at least in Cornwall!

(Of equal grave concern are the 60,000 people in the South West who voted in the recent European Election specifically for a neo-fascist political party. I have NO DOUBT whatsoever that quite a few westcountry police officers will have been amongst those who have voted for & supported the neo-fascist ideology sympathetic to that of the Jew Gassing, homosexual & black ethnic hating Adolf Hitler).

With police like many of those I have encountered in Cornwall & people willing to vote for neo-fascists…GLBT people are yet again one step nearer the gas chambers.

In Cornwall police have been allowed to take control & being given input into GLBT community groups and activities in Cornwall and have efficiently ostracised, isolated & marginalised any gay persons or dissident voice critical or have legitimate complaint against the police.

I genuinely feel less safe & more at risk to homophobic abuse & attack as a gay person than I have at any other time in the preceding two decades I have been ‘out’ as a gay person!

Only recently last month following yet another homophobic attack upon our property (see above photo), reported to police immediately, the new local beat officer ONCE AGAIN demonstrated police willingness to blind eye complaints regarding other police officers, by POINT BLANK refusing to hear ANY complaint or criticism regarding his police colleagues leading up to the latest homophobic attack.

I am left with no doubt here is yet another Helston police officer who would happily blind eye even ‘water boarding torture’ if carried out by his chums in the police!

The Police in Cornwall REMAIN in my considerable experience very much the homophobic problem & enemy of GLBT persons despite police ‘spin & mirrors’ spouted by Chief Constable Stephen Otter on equality & diversity issues.

Six Metropolitan Police officers have been suspended or placed on restricted duties following allegations of ill-treatment after a police raid.

Given the G20 police conduct, the public execution of Charles De Menezes & my own personal experience of the inherent homophobic attitude, practises & conduct of the majority of Cornwall police officers I have personally encountered, should we, the public really be surprised at this recent report of Police using torture techniques?

I for one am not!

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is investigating the Enfield-based officers' conduct, according to Scotland Yard.

How can we tell the IPCC are investigating?
Perhaps Dulux Brilliant White Emulsion sales have suddenly shot up?

I am sure the 100 lawyers who withdrew their services from the IPCC due to concerns about IPCC favourable bias towards the police had their good reasons?

The alleged police offences said to have taken place during two drugs raids on 4 November last year.
The Met said the allegations were serious and raised "real concern".
(Yes, no doubt they are really damned annoyed that someone should have found out!)

But they said they could not comment on the exact nature of the complaints.
(Presumably, the IPCC are giving the police concerned enough time to alter their pocket books & notes…or was that just the Charles De Menezes killing?)

However, some national newspapers are reporting that the officers used water torture techniques such as ducking a suspect's head under water.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said a police employee had raised concerns about the conduct of a number of officers, (Ah! That must be THE honest police officer we sometimes hear about?), during an internal investigation into allegations of mishandling of property.

The BBC reports
"The Met's Directorate of Professional Standards (DPS) received information from a Metropolitan Police Service employee which raised concerns about the conduct of a small number of officers in Enfield borough," he said.
"The Met's DPS then initiated a thorough investigation and as part of this made a referral to the IPCC in April 2009.
"The IPCC is independently investigating the actions of six officers during the arrests of five people in November 2008."

An IPCC spokesman added that it was "not appropriate to make assumptions" while the investigation was ongoing.
(We have to wait until the IPCC white paint has dried presumably?)

"That said, these are serious allegations that do raise real concern," he added.
(Seems the IPCC are also ‘pissed off’ people have found out about their police mates alleged conduct)
"The Met does not tolerate conduct which falls below the standards that the public and the many outstanding Met officers and staff expect.
"Any allegations of such behaviour are treated very seriously, as this case illustrates, and if found true the strongest possible action will be taken."

Scotland Yard has said the borough commander in Enfield is moving to a new job, where he will be working to the Deputy Commissioner on strategy and policy.

When asked whether the move resulted from Scotland Yard's internal investigation, it said it would be inappropriate to pre-empt the ongoing inquiries.

Dear friends

In the wake of the political crisis around MP expenses and the BNP wins in the
Euro elections, I've got involved with 38 Degrees, a new people powered
campaigning organisation.

Many of you will know my complete disgust at police corruption & my experiences of police homophobia in Cornwall & the failings of my useless Mp Andrew George to support a homeless 15yr old gay youth abused by police & Cornwall social services. The IPCC is toothless & ineffectual, the Ombudsman office turns a blind eye...its all become a 'old boys network' with nobody acting on behalf of you & me
...or taking any responsiblity for their high salaries, but monumental failings.

It feels like politics in the UK has lots its way.

The Labour government which inspired for many such hope twelve years ago is no longer trusted and torn by conflict. The Conservatives and Liberal Democrats have also had their share of scandal and as a gay man I remember the Thatcher years, that anti-gay ideology remains embedded within the Conservative party.

Last week most of us chose not to vote for any of them, whilst the BNP made alarming gains. Right now we can't rely on the Westminster parties to sort this crisis out on their own. But People Power can force their hand. There's never been more need for us to come together to demand politicians sort out our political system.

Police have expressed concern over a 60% rise in homophobic violence following a number of murders of gay men.

Scotland Yard statistics show a nine per cent rise in homophobic and transphobic offences to 1,372 in the year up to April 2009. Greater Manchester police saw a 63 per cent rise in homophobic crime.

Acting Detective Superintendent Gerry Campbell, of the Metropolitan police, said: "Homophobia cannot be considered a thing of the past, it's on the increase."

Where as in the past police would have been able to turn a blind eye to homophobic violence & hate crime, it is becoming increasingly difficult for police to look the other way as citizen journalism is raising awareness of police criminality & abuse where the regular commercial media choose not too.

Let us not forget it was Citizen Journalism which exposed the catalogue of abuses & violence carried out by thugs & scum protected within the police ranks at the G20 campaign. Abuses, which just like in the police lies surrounding the police public execution? of Charles De Menezes, have in effect become the shoddy corrupt benchmark of British police abuse & lies in recent years.

Stonewall equality organization reported that of all homophobic incidents reported to police only 1% result in a prosecution & conviction...such is the embedded homophobia STILL within the sloppy & prejudicial homophobic police & judicial system still loaded AGAINST gay persons.

Gay people as victims simply DO NOT MATTER to the police!

Especially police like the Devon & Cornwall Constabulary, especially when the perpetrators of homophobic conduct & practices ARE police officers and complaints are routinely disregarded & swept under the carpet by police, Police Authority & the equally biased in favour of police...the ineffectual police watch poodle eunuch which is the IPCC!

I have been taught by my own experiences of numerous Cornwall police officers by their conduct, attitude & practices prejudicially targeting me as a gay man, that Cornwall police are as an organization untrustworthy, lying, dishonest, prejudicial, homophobic, abusive & corrupt on a wide scale. I have no reason to believe that Cornwall police are unique amongst police forces in embedded homophobic attitudes & practises against gay persons.

A briefing note for Scotland Yard's LGBT advisory group, is said to have stated that nine "critical incidents" were recorded in the force's area since March 2008, compared with five incidents from 2001 to 2005.

Last month, a gay man was stabbed to death in Tottenham, north London. Daryl Phillips, 39, had been stabbed in the leg and was treated at the scene at Avenue Road, but was later pronounced dead.

In March, Gerry Edwards, 59, was stabbed to death at his home in Bromley, south London. His partner, 56-year-old Chris Bevan, was taken to hospital with stab wounds.
A gay couple in Bradford were shot in April. Neville Corby died at the scene at Ashbourne Road while his 31-year-old partner Craig Freer survived with gunshot wounds to the chest.

According to Crown Prosecution Service figures, prosecutions for crimes involving homophobia rose 60 per cent over the past two years to 995 cases. You can multiply that figure by x100 for the crimes against gay persons not reported or simply ignored by police, especially those where there is direct police involvement in the abuse of a gay victim.

It is unquestionably police homophobic attitudes & practice like that I have personally experienced from numerous Cornwall police officers that most threaten gay persons.

The traumatic impact & affect of multiple police abuses is simply disregarded & treated with utter contempt by police diversity officers keen to play down police homophobia which is too me clearly widespread as acceptable practise throughout the Devon & Cornwall Constabulary under the protection of Chief Constable Stephen Otter, which make police still the front line problem facing gay people in 2009.

Put simply, British police like the vast majority of those I have encountered in Cornwall remain unprofessional & prejudicial in their attitudes towards gay persons in 2009

As a gay man living in genuine fear of yet more & further police reprisals in Cornwall, the police remain the primary & most dangerous of Homophobic abusive organizations. Police clearly remain in complete denial mentality as to the severity of the problem of homophobia embedded & protected within their ranks.

UK BNP: Gays, one step nearer gas chambers?

A few years ago I knew an octogenarian gay man called ‘Charles’, Charles had lived through both WWI & WWII. Whilst campaigning against the Thatcher Conservative party abhorrent anti-gay ‘section 28’ he said too me:-

“As gays we are only ever one government away from the gas chambers”

Last night with the 2009 election of not one, but two members of the British Fascist Party too European Parliament,… and the gay population of the UK moved one step nearer to gas chambers.

BNP Holocaust Denial

The BNP, its former leaders and present leader, Nick Griffin, have promoted anti-semitism and Holocaust denial or revisionism in the past. In 1996, writing in his own publication, The Rune, Griffin stated that:

"I am well aware that orthodox opinion is that six million Jews were gassed and cremated or turned into soup and lampshades. I have reached the conclusion that the 'extermination' tale is a mixture of Allied wartime propaganda, extremely profitable lie, and latter witch-hysteria".[37]

The following year, during a Cook Report documentary he stated:
“There is no doubt that hundreds, probably thousands of Jews were shot to death in Eastern Europe, because they were rightly or wrongly seen as communists or potential partisan supporters. That was awful. But this nonsense about gas chambers is exposed as a total lie”.[38]

In 1988, The Sunday Times revealed that Holocaust News, a publication that claimed the holocaust was an "evil hoax", was being published by the BNP's then deputy leader, Richard Edmonds, on behalf of a BNP front organisation, the Centre for Historical Review, and distributed by members. John Tyndall, the party's leader, said he was not involved in the publication but that it had his full support.[39]

The 2002 Channel 4 documentary Young, Nazi and Proud featured hidden-camera footage of the then BNP youth leader Mark Collett stating his admiration for Adolf Hitler, and stating "I'd never say this on camera, the Jews have been thrown out of every country including England. It's not just persecution. There's no smoke without fire." It also featured footage of visitors to the party's annual 'Red White and Blue' festival, some of whom wore the legend "88" (code for HH, "Heil Hitler").[40] Collett resigned from the party after the documentary's filming, but rejoined shortly afterwards, with Nick Griffin's approval, on the condition that Collett changed his views on the subject.

In 2006, the party's deputy chairman Scott McLean was shown on the TV documentary "Nazi Hate Rock"[41] making Hitler salutes at a white-supremacist cross-burning ceremony where intensely racist songs were sung and jokes made about Auschwitz.

The BNP is said to have a policy of tolerance to homosexuality in private, but states that homosexuality "should not be promoted or encouraged".[115] The BNP opposed the introduction of civil partnerships in the United Kingdom.[116] BNP spokesman Phil Edwards said homosexuality "is unnatural" and "does not lead to procreation but does lead to moral turpitude and disease". Alongside its suggestion that homosexuality "undermines social/marital cohesion by adding confusion", the BNP would make it unlawful to promote homosexuality and "return it to the closet where it belongs".[117] The BNP is particularly worried about the possibility of equality & education regarding homosexuality being taught in schools.[118]

In the run-up to the 2005 general election, it was reported that Richard Barnbrook, the BNP candidate for Barking, had produced and directed a homoerotic student art film in 1989. The story was picked up by the mainstream press after the 2006 local elections, when Barnbrook became a councillor and the BNP's London leader.[119] Although some portrayed this as gay pornography, Barnbrook and the BNP claimed that the film was artistic, and about "sexuality, not homosexuality".[120]
Mark Collett, former chairman of the Young BNP, described homosexuals as "AIDS Monkeys", "bum bandits" and "faggots" and said the idea of homosexuality was a "sickening thought".[121]

The concern must be that so many people in the United Kingdom have now in 2009 voted for an openly racist neo-fascist party in Britain.

The German Nazi National Socialist Party came to power as the result of people voting on the back of economic fears & recession in the 1930’s and eventually lead to a bitter world war costing millions of lives.

Despite serving police officers not being allowed to be members of BNP, I have no doubt due to my personal experience of the homophobic conduct & practices of so many Cornwall police officers I have encountered that there will be considerable applause & support in the Camborne & Helston police canteens for the rise of the fascist right in the UK today!

In recent years as a direct result of the Cornwall police vendetta & homophobic campaign against me & my relentlessly being attacked and slagged off by many gay people in Cornwall blissfully ignorant of the facts, I take some comfort from the words of Tony Benn

For those Cornish Gay men & others who blindly think its getting better....?

Michael Causer's Parents Speak Out

So many Cornish gays have their head in the sand & believe everything is rosey & worse they believe the piffle & twaddle that police spout about "being gay friendly". The truth is there has been a 60% rise in homophobic 'hate crime' in the UK not to mention an unprecidented rise in gay suicide & homelessness. Even homophobic crime which is reported, only 1% results in a conviction according too LGBT equality organisation Stonewall.

Micheal Causer's parents have resently spoken out about their son, his murder, the trial, homophobia and their hopes for the future.

A year ago an ordinary Merseyside couple like Marie and Mike Causer probably wouldn’t have expected to become spokespeople for gay rights.

But it’s been a dark year for the Causer’s one full of tragedy, disappointment and lies.

On Thursday 24 July 2008 their son - Michael Causer (18) - was out with acquaintances at The Crown Pub in Prescot, Merseyside. Those acquaintances included James O’Connor (19), Michael Binsteed (18) and an old school friend of Michael’s - Kyle Kennedy.

After the pub the group went on to a party at a house on Biglands Drive in Huyton which belonged to Binsteed’s Grandmother. The group were joined at the house by Gavin Alker (19), a friend of O’Connor’s.

Homophobic Attack

From this point on the events took a more sinister tone. Michael was upstairs asleep in one of the bedrooms when O’Connor and Alker came into the room and subjected Michael to a sustained and brutal beating which would leave him unconscious.

Throughout the early hours of Friday 25 July, the pair continued to assault Michael and shout homophobic language at him. The boys turned on Michael after they had seen pictures of him on his mobile phone with his boyfriend George. After the attack it is alleged that Alker said: “He’s a little queer, he deserves it.”

It is unknown to what extent Michael Binsteed and Kyle Kennedy were involved in the attack, but they did not intervene and help Michael. Kennedy left the scene in a taxi at 9am knowing that Michael was badly injured. While Binsteed along with Alker and O’Connor moved Michael’s body from the house to waste ground on nearby Tarbuck Road.

Binsteed fabricated a story to the Paramedics, Police and Michael’s family that Michael had been attacked in the street by random men and that they had helped fight them off. Meanwhile, Alker absconded for the next five days.

When Marie and Mike were at the hospital they had no idea how bad Michael’s injuries were, Marie told outnorthwest: “We believed Michael just had a clot and it was going to be removed. We didn’t know he had a broken jaw, upper and lower. We knew his nose was broken, he had black eyes, his mouth was horrendously swollen. But we didn’t know he had internal and neck injuries until Crown Court.”

On August 2 2008, Michael Causer died from serious head injuries which he sustained in the attack; he was only 18 years of age.

No Justice

Nine months on from Michael’s murder, of the four people who were present as this dreadful act of hatred unfolded; only one has received a custodial sentence. Leaving huge question marks over the effectiveness of the British judicial system and their understanding of homophobic hate crimes.

James O‘Connor pleaded guilty to the murder of Michael Causer, on the basis that homophobia was not his motivation, he was sentenced to 23 years in prison, but is eligible for parole in eleven and a half years. Judge King accepted that it was not a homophobic attack; he offered no alternative saying that he did not know what had motivated O’Connor.

Michael Binsteed pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice, despite being originally questioned about wounding with intent. He was used as a prosecution witness and was given a suspended sentence of 34 weeks and 200 hours community payback.

Despite being present throughout the attacks Kyle Kennedy was not charged, and was used as a prosecution witness.

Most shockingly, Gavin Alker, who was described by the Crown Prosecution Service as the “prime mover” in the attacks, pleaded not guilty to the murder of Michael Causer and walked free.

Where did the trial go wrong?

The CPS were so confident of the case they had assured the Causer’s that Alker would be sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Marie and Mike talk of the perjury and dreadful errors that took place in the court room, which they feel prejudiced the jury against Michael.

Marie explains: “The lies that Kennedy and Binsteed were coming up with saying that Michael was some sort of hooligan to cover themselves to make them look good. They said that Michael had spent the evening smashing telephone boxes, phone boxes that weren’t even there…bus stops, cars…nobody made any reports.”

“From day one as soon as we knew that they were using Kyle Kennedy as a witness we might as well as not had any court case.”

Marie can’t understand why the CPS used Kyle Kennedy as a witness, when they had Stephen Baines’ statement - a barman at The Crown - who saw Michael that night and stated that he was not drunk or depressed as alleged, but was his usual self, singing Karaoke and having a dance.

Marie highlights the terrible errors that were made over the course trial by the CPS, Judge King and the Coroner; not only was her Victim Impact Statement virtually ignored, but “even on the day of the sentence Judge King didn’t know how old Michael was.”

She continues: “Even the Coroner who did Michael’s post mortem came into Court saying that Michael was six foot one. Michael was five foot four - I ordered his coffin which was five foot six and that was to allow for a blue cushion with “The Prince is Sleeping” on it. Michael didn’t stand a chance - there was nothing in that Crown Court that went his way".

Mike adds: “We were in there nearly three weeks and the whole court case was a farce.”

The trial left them feeling cheated; they can’t live with the Jury’s decision and feel that Alker, Binsteed and Kennedy are laughing at them.

Marie says: “Justice is just a word; it’s a word that means nothing. Even if they did get 30 years, even if they got 50 years, even if they spent the rest of their lives in prison. It still wouldn’t compensate for what they’ve taken from us as a family.”

Hope for the future

However, they are determined to keep fighting for Michael and are currently considering further legal action. Marie continues: “There is no way of appealing against Alker…he will fall on his own admissions.” But they are in the process of appealing Binsteed’s sentence, and feel they have a case against Kennedy as, allegedly he helped Binsteed clean Michael up and dispose of DNA evidence.

Throughout the aftermath of Michael’s death and the trial, the Causer’s have somehow stayed strong, and pay tribute to the community who have rallied to support them. Marie comments: “We’ve had wonderful support from the LGBT Network in Liverpool, Matty Fox, Tommy, Andy and Jenny. There are around 7000 people on the Michael Causer facebook group writing comments. We get donations for Michael’s Fund and cards through the door.”

“Also, the police have been amazing Jay Halpin, Ritchie Carr. Absolutely wonderful, couldn’t fault Merseyside Police. It’s just a shame that the CPS weren’t the same in presenting Michael’s case with different methods instead of using people as witnesses who should have been prosecuted.”

Along with Liverpool’s LGBT Network and Merseyside Police, Marie and Mike are determined that nothing like this will ever happen again.

Marie says: “At first we were told that we could speak out, but anything we might say could jeopardise Michael’s trial. So we kept quiet. Then after the trial and the sentence, we said we’d speak out.”

Mike regrets not doing it earlier: “We should have done before, because then they’d have known what Michael was really like.”

Marie continues: “We’d do anything to stop this from happening again. We know gay people, we go to the pub, we go to the Trigger Pond and Chris Wallace is there and he so reminds you of Michael, his mannerisms, everything. I look at Chris and he’s the same build as Michael.”

“I find with the gay community, that I’m more supportive towards them because you look back and see what has happened to Michael. We knew he’d be vulnerable when he came out, because of the size of him - 5 ft 4 and 7 stone. We knew he’d be more vulnerable than his brothers. He was the baby of the family. I think gay people are more vulnerable, because of the way people react to them.”

“We’ll keep speaking out and hopefully go into schools and educate young people that gay people don’t have two heads, they are the same people that they are. It’s just wrong that some people won’t accept them.”

“Then there’s the Fund. We’ll keep fundraising and doing different things for a lasting memorial, and then maybe go on to books to educate the children of today. You look back at Binsteed’s, O’Connor’s and Alker’s generation of “89 and then this next generation…will they show more hate towards gay people?”

“This generation of infants need to be educated. You hear youngsters as young as four and five saying “go away you’re gay”. It might be a word to them, but their parents need to pull them up and tell them that it’s wrong. They need better education to let them know that gay people are no different.”

Mike and Marie Causer are determined to keep Michael’s story alive and there are offers from This Morning and The Oprah Winfrey Show. But it’s the private things that take the most strength.

Marie and Mike have taken the handle off Michael’s bedroom door and haven’t been in since Michael passed away. Marie says: “That was his private place”. Mike adds: “It’s hard, but we’ll get there one day…We’ll do whatever we can to stop this from happening to someone else."

Chief Constable Stephen Otter shortlisted?

Mr STEPHEN Otter, the Chief Constable of Devon and Cornwall Constabulary

It would seem STEPHEN Otter, the Chief Constable of Devon and Cornwall may have been short listed for the post of Deputy Commissioner at Scotland Yard.

Mr Otter is said to be one of four candidates to have applied for the post – second-in-command of the largest police force in Britain – after Sir Paul Stephenson's promotion to commissioner.

I say
“God help the GLBT population of London if Mr Otter gets the post” which carries a salary of £204,075

Mr Otter, who joined Devon and Cornwall Police on a five-year contract in January 2007 and has continued just like his predecessors to ignore complaints regarding the homophobic conduct, attitudes & practices of Cornwall police officers under his command.

However John Smith, chairman of Devon and Cornwall Police Authority (who also ignore complaints regarding homophobia within the police) is said to have commented
"The fact that Stephen Otter's name is being linked to this role is a testament to the difference he has made to policing in Devon and Cornwall over the past two years." He added: "We would be very sad to lose Stephen."

Well I know gay people in Cornwall who would be absolutely delighted to be shot of Chief Constable Otter. Since Mr Otter chooses to blindly ignore continuing homophobic abuses & the traumatic impact & violating affect of police abuses upon gay people in Cornwall.

Like that of police trying to prosecute the corpse of a gay suicide victim twenty days after he had killed himself following being arrested by police & despite warnings of the victims fragile state of mind, but hey, who cares how many fags top themselves in Cornwall (at least four in 2008).

Certainly NOT Mr Otter’s Devon & Cornwall Constabulary in my experience of them, having attempted suicide myself directly & specifically due to violating Cornwall police abusive conduct & practices against me specifically as a gay man who was acting lawfully & legally.

Mr Otter, who joined the Metropolitan Police as a constable in 1989, has instituted a five-year plan to transform the Devon & Cornwall Constabulary into "a top performing force" which has included transferring 200 officers from back office functions to the front line.

However, the reality is Devon & Cornwall Constabulary were the 3rd most complained about police force out of the 42 British police forces last year. A Freedom of Information Act enquiry revealed that between Jan 2006 to Dec 2008 there were 2,978 complaints made against Devon & Cornwall Constabulary (and these are just the ones that police will actually admit too and does not include complaints police have ignored, buried or bullied the complain tents to shut up about)!

Well done Mr Otter, on your astounding ability to ignore police abuses!

He should fit in very, very nicely in London, given the G20 police conduct (& denials) & the Charles De Menezes tube train police execution & known & established police bullsh*t & lies about that!

(WELL DONE THE IPCC in helping cover up police violations)

Interviews for the Deputy Commissioner post expected to take place next month in June. The final decision rests with the Home Secretary, although the Commissioner and the Mayor of London will have influence.

Lets hope the Home Secretary has the good sense to “Just F*cking Google it” and look at the reality of abusive policing in Devon & Cornwall under Chief Constable Mr Otter

The successful candidate for the Met Police will be a favorite to replace the newly appointed Sir Paul Stephenson, also reputedly not exactly renowned for supporting GLBT people.

Personally, due to my experiences of dishonest, corrupt & homophobic Cornwall police, I do not trust a Cornwall Police officer to even tell the correct time without my getting a second opinion

Iraqi gays report that their lives are in danger, that they live in continuous fear of people finding out that they are gay.

Gays are being sadistically tortured, mutilated and murdered

... some by the method of sticking a special glue (which can only be removed by surgery) up their anuses then forcing diarrhea. This method is being employed not just in Baghdad but in smaller town and cities all over Iraq

. Videos of this form of torture are being distributed on mobile cellphones in Iraq. There are reports of hospitals turning away gays with glued anuses.

Attacks against gays have been abundant in Shiite neighborhoods, especially poor regions and remote areas such as the southern provinces and the Hurriya, Sho’la and Sadr neighborhoods in Baghdad.

Although gays could be tried and imprisoned under the Saddam regime Iraqi gays report that "now they kill people like us."

The campaign started in 2004, following the religious decree of Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani that said gay men and lesbians should be “punished, in fact, killed .. The people should be killed in the worst, most severe way of killing.”

Since then Iraqi LGBT has received reports and information of over 600 LGBT people killed.

But Iraqi gays and media reports say that the killings have massively escalated since the end of 2008.

Iraqi LGBT has received reports of 63 killings in the last four months but does not have correspondents or members in large parts of Iraq and believes that the actual number of gays killed since December 2008 is much higher.

Amnesty International says that 25 boys and men were killed in Baghdad this spring "following calls from religious leaders to eradicate homosexuality."

There are reports that religious leaders, both Sunni or Shiite
... have used Friday sermons and satellite channels as a platform to incite hatred and violence toward homosexuals.

Reporting about the murders by anal glue of gays in Sadr City in April by Iraqi daily newspapers and many television stations branded gays as 'perverts' and 'terrorists who are undermining the moral fiber of Iraqi youth'.

Posters and leaflets distributed in the Baghdad neighborhoods of al-Shola, al-Hurya and Sadr City contain orders to "cleanse Iraq from the crime of homosexuality."

Lesbians are reported as being burned to death in Kadhimiya, Hurriya Al-Olaa, Hurriya Al-Thaniya, Dolaai and Dabaash.

Baghdad US Embassy workers are reported as saying that the killings are not tribal or familial disputes.

The UN High Commissioner for Refugees says that homosexuals are a specific group which have been identified as at risk of violence.

State involvement and lack of action Human Rights Watch says that Iraqi LGBT are vulnerable to attacks from both state and non-state actors.

Mobile phone footage circulating in Baghdad shows uniformed police harassing LGBT. There are reports of police extracting bribes.

Police have been quoted as waging a campaign to "clean up the streets and get the beggars and homosexuals off them.”

Iraqi LGBT has received reports that police and the Ministry of the Interior are behind some of the murders.

The International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission (IGLHRC)
says that despite the legal obligations of the Iraqi government to protect all citizens, crimes committed against LGBT Iraqis and those believed to be homosexual are not properly investigated or prosecuted.

US Vice President Joe Biden is reported to have said 'the Iraqi .. government is either too ineffectual to act, or is afraid of offending the religious zealots who perpetuate the attacks'.

The US State Department, following representations by Rep. Jared Polis and the Council for Global Equality, is investigating reports of trials and executions of LGBT, including for membership of the Iraqi LGBT group, as well as reports of arrests, beatings and rape by Ministry of Interior security forces. Polis says that at least one gay man has been executed by the government for 'membership of a banned organization' and that "gregious human rights violations ... [are] being carried out by Iraqi government officials from the Ministry of the Interior."

Amnesty International has expressed concern at the government’s failure to "publicly condemn the killings." It urged the government to make sure that the killings are "promptly and effectively investigated, and to see that the perpetrators are brought to justice." They also condemned police statements that,"appear to condone or even encourage the targeting of members of the gay community in Baghdad."

The Australian government has questioned the Iraqi Ambassador to Australia and Australia’s Ambassador to Iraq has questioned the Iraqi government over the pogrom.

On April 8, 2009, IGLHRC and Human Rights Watch submitted an urgent appeal to the Special Procedures of the United Nations to ask for an investigation.

This letter was written to Los Angeles councillor Bill Rosendahl in response to the passage by Los Angeles City Council of a resolution in opposition to the Iraqi gay pogrom.

I’m a 25 year old graduate student from Baghdad and my name is Ahmad.

I want to thank you very much for caring about me and my problem. Finally, after many desperate years of hopelessness I found a group of people that understand and care about me.

My problem is that I’m a gay, and as a gay man I can’t live a normal life in Iraq because:

My life is in danger. I live in continuous fear of people finding out that I’m gay.

I can’t express my deepest emotions. I can’t love...I can’t tell those who I care about that I love them... It is like being tortured from inside.
In the past few months I have heard of many cases of violence against gay men, including killing, torturing, and public humiliation of us. The religious vigilantes (known as Maghawer) have kidnapped many men suspected of being gay. No one knows anything about the fate of those gays.

The Maghawer’s most popular method of torture for homosexuals is putting silicon glue on their anus to shot down their digestive system and then force them to take laxative drug to make them suffer.

Every time I walk on the street I wonder what may happen to pen to me today. To protect myself, I have to lie to everyone and pretend that I am a straight person. It is really hard to be a 24/7 liar out of the fear of death…I keep asking myself if this is going to be MY LIFE!!!

I have no one to turn to. Not even other gay men or my family members. Recently I have been blackmailed by men I had sex with in the past. They told me either I have to have sex with them again or they will out me to my family, neighbors and even classmates. I had to choose between scandal and public humiliation and prostitution. But I decided that I can’t have sex with people I don’t love … so I decided to transfer to another college in Northern Iraq.

My family doesn’t know about my homosexuality…if they find out, they will disown me because I will become a disgrace to them. They may even try to kill me to protect their honor. I always have to pretend in front my family that I ‘m “normal”…but like any other straight man, my family wants me to marry a woman … I try to avoid that conversation as much as I can but there is a lot of pressure on me to get married.

I am not happy with myself. I am not proud of who I am.

A while back I went to a psychologist to see if he can treat me. I told him about my problem…he told me that homosexuality has no treatment in Iraq and only experienced doctors in developed countries can give me therapy.

The news made me so depressed that I started thinking of committing suicide. I feel even without vigilantes killing me, I AM ALREADY DEAD FROM INSIDE.

I just want to know what wrong I have done. Do I have a choice to be gay? Do I want to humiliate myself? Do I want to live in constant fear and anxiety? Do I want my family & friends to hate and abandon me if they discover my truth? Do I want myself to be killed on the hand of uneducated people for something I didn’t choose?

I don’t want to make it long for you…but I want to let you know that I have already suffered too much and I don’t have the power to go through more pain and suffering.

My boyfriend was killed by the police because of his sexuality. Policemen came to his house, 10 minutes away from mine, put him in a police car, arrested and killed him.
They told his parents it was because of his job. He was working for Iraqi LGBT (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender). For six months I didn't go out, I didn't do anything – just grieved for him. He was killed because of who he is.

After the fall of Saddam Hussein in 2003, we – the gay community – were very optimistic. We thought that we would live in a democracy and felt safe with US troops around. So we started to print leaflets that promoted freedom for gay and lesbian people.

But members of our group started being arrested for it. The leaflets weren't political, they were just spreading gay rights.

We have the right to exist and be who we are, but this offended the government. The leaflets had our email addresses and telephone numbers, so the government and the militias came to find out who was distributing the leaflets.

In 2004, the situation got much worse. People began to be killed in the streets, burnt alive and mutilated for being gay. We were a target for the government and militias. I fled to the UK; I feel very safe here but get emails every day about more killings in Iraq. And the problem is that the UK Government doesn't allow us to stay with refugee status even though Iraq is one of the most dangerous places on earth for homosexuals and a war is being waged by the parts of the Iraqi government on gay people. In the UK, I can't work or study because I've been denied the right to asylum, but my only option is to go back to Iraq, face my family and my community and be killed.

Four members of our organisation have already been deported. I am fighting for my right to stay by re-applying for asylum with the help of Iraqi LGBT. Otherwise, I have no future. On Thursday, we will protest outside the Home Office to highlight the homophobic killings. I wish someone would listen and help us; this has been going on in Iraq for years and no one cares.

Hasan, 26, is gay. He moved to the UK nine months ago from his home in Babel province, south of Baghdad, after receiving death threats. His boyfriend was killed because of his sexuality.

I was detained at my residence December 15, 2008 after midnight, by the Ministry of Interior. During the detention process, they hit me on the head and my rear end to make me confess that I am a member of the Iraqi-LGBT. Later on the Ministry of Interior transferred me to the criminal justice court in al Karkh, and after a short trial I was sentenced to death.

I was sentenced without given the chance to defend myself or to hire an attorney. Two days later I was returned to the same place and was told that the execution will take place in two weeks.

Please pass this message to [my friend] in London. I just wish to tell him not to forget about my mother and siblings, I was their only supporter.

I am all hopeful that Allah will show Iraqis a life with no death sentences. And lastly, I ask you for help. Is there anyone to help me before it is too late?

The UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) advises favourable consideration for people belonging to specific groups from these areas which have been identified as at risk, including members of religious and ethnic minorities; Iraqis perceived as opposing armed groups or political factions; Iraqis affiliated with the multinational forces or foreign companies; media workers; UN and non-governmental organization (NGO) workers; human rights activists; and homosexuals.

This support is desperately needed and will be put to good use both inside Iraq itself and to support the exiled movement. The group needs £10,000 a month in order to keep its safe houses and other support for beleaguered LGBT inside Iraq going.

IPCC published new discrimination guidelines yesterday! 19th May 2009

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) published yesterday new guidelines on dealing with allegations of discriminatory behaviour

...and it still won’t be worth “JACK SCHITT”... AS IPCC CONTINUE TO TURN A BLIND EYE TO HOMOPHOBIC POLICE CONDUCT & PRACTISES already reported, but which STILL remain un-investigated!

The new guidelines, 'Dealing with allegations of discriminatory behaviour', build upon the racial discrimination guidelines published by the Police Complaints Authority in 2003 and include age, religion and belief, disability, gender, race, and sexual orientation discrimination.

...and we all know how much notice police have taken of racial discrimination & the findings of the Stephen Lawrence murder report & enquiry.

The IPCC say they are committed to producing its own guidelines on the handling of allegations of discriminatory behaviour because of the importance it places on valuing diversity and concerns about discrimination,

...but frankly we believe having had personal experience of the IPCC protectionism of police, that GLBT people & PUBLIC IN GENERAL would be foolish to believe the IPCC!

The IPCC are said too provide guidance on the handling of allegations of discriminatory behaviour and ensure a consistent approach is achieved by those responsible for investigating allegations.

In our experience of the IPCC, this means to consistently cover up for police abuses, interconnected violations & traumatising of gay victims of homophobic police conduct & practises

Discrimination allegations are said to account for a small number of overall complaints, (but then AS GLBT we KNOW as A FACT complaints are systematically disregarded and ignored habitually by both police and their chums in the IPCC).

In 2006/07, allegedly according to the IPCC, ONLY 3% of total complaints related to discrimination. However, the 2007 IPCC public confidence survey found 86% of people felt that discrimination is one of the main reasons for making a complaint.

IPCC Chair Nick Hardwick is reported as having said: "As we can see from the research people feel strongly that discriminatory behaviour should be reported, however, the number of actual cases is very low. It is important that the necessary guidelines are in place to address all forms of discrimination if we are to continue to increase the public's confidence in the police complaints system”.

Dear Nick Hardwick,

“YOU FAIL to increase public confidence whilst you continue to blind-eye the interconnected abuse practises, conduct & impact of multiple acts of homophobic impact & abuse carried out, like that of Devon & Cornwall Constabulary, not to mention (but we will ) coppers & chain of command who get away with executing people in Tube trains or killing off newspaper salespersons when walking home!”

"Currently a review of IPCC statutory guidance is underway and will include reference to these guidelines and their use."

A consultation process involving IPCC staff, Professional Standards Departments and stakeholders, including Mind and Stonewall, was conducted over a two-year period

...but ignored the experience & opinion of 1st hand victims of IPCC failings.

A review of the guidelines will be conducted in 12 months to monitor their own implementation and use to see if the IPCC & the Police have still managed through “spin & mirrors” to pull the wool over the publics eyes.
