Sweater

Hope everyone is doing fine. It has been busy here so I have not blogged much. I did however find time to crochet. :) Here are some photos of the sweater that I made for myself. I think it turned out nice. The pattern was in this months issue of Crochet World.
Hubby took the picture and he keep telling me how nice it was and how proud he was of me.
That made me feel so good. :)

Wool Eater Pillow

Here is a pillow that I just finished. It is the "Wool Eater pattern" which was fun to do. I forget where I heard or got the pattern from. I have added to my list an afghan in this pattern. I might get to it before I leave this earth. LOL My list keeps growing just like yours.

This pillow is for a very dear friend whom is so hot blooded that an afghan would just collect dust so I decided to make her a pillow. She is a dog lover so I put the doggie button in the center to dress it up a bit.

Its been AWHILE!

I can not believe how long it has been since I have blogged. I have been busy working and making things. One big project that I have finished is an afghan for a good friend who loves the game "Settlers of Catan" So I found this pattern for it on this ladies blog and I went from there. I think it came out great and you can see hers and get the pattern by clicking on the link.

My first thank you letter.

Here is the thank you that I received. It is from the nurse at Pine Ridge Reservation OB Unit. It is my first personal thank you and I donated it through my Crafting for a Cause group. What a wonderful group of folks they are. Yeah I am a bit excited. It sure makes you feel good.

I just wanted to share with you, busy today cleaning out the garage and getting ready for the big garage/yard sale that we are having on June 5th through 7th. Wow, I have a lot of stuff to sell that I don't need.

The Tooth Fairy

One of my friends grandsons is getting ready to lose his first tooth so I offered to make him a pillow. I bought the pattern from JayBird Designs and it worked up nice and quick. Below is a photo of front and back. I used the green glow in the dark for the pocket so that the Tooth Fairy would have no trouble finding the place to put the cash or whatever it is that tooth fairies leave for the kids today. All it in I think it turned out cuter an I do hope that Master Colin likes it.

I also finally finished the laprobe that I was making for the elder group at the Crocheting for a Cause Group that I belong to, I think it will match on of the wheelchair bags that Cherri made perfectly.

Larksfoot Stitch baby sweater

As you know I have already made/created this sweater but have not written up the instructions. Yesterday I attempted to and only got too row 4 before giving up. So I went ahead and finished up this one and will start another and use a different method as my husband suggested. I am going to record myself making one and then I will play that audio back and write up the instructions. What a great idea. I sure admire all those designers out there that publish their patterns so quickly.

Anyway here is a picture of the sweater that I made yesterday. It's not bright newborn colors but will keep a baby warm regardless.

Diaper Jacket

Here is what I came up with for a diaper jacket to go with the blanket that I made. I am now working on the hat. I also made a cute pair of booties that I will post when I post a photo of the hat.
I really am going to try and get this pattern on paper for those of you who like it.

Baby Afghan

I started this on Thursday evening and finished it up tonight. It will be going to a friend whom is awaiting the birth of her granddaughter "NICOLE" Her first Granddaughter. She is a very proud grand ma ma.

A touching Email I received today

There was a blind girl who hated herself because she was blind. She
hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend.. He was always
there for her. She told her boyfriend, 'If I could only see
the world, I will marry you.'

One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her. When the bandages
came off, she was able to see everything, including her
boyfriend.

He asked her,'Now that you can see the world, will you marry me?' The
girl looked at her boyfriend and saw that he was blind. The
sight of his closed eyelids shocked her. She hadn't expected
that. The thought of looking at them the rest of her life
led her to refuse to marry him.

Her boyfriend left in tears and days later wrote a note to her
saying: 'Take good care of your eyes, my dear, for before
they were yours, they were mine.'

This is how the human brain often works when our status changes.
Only a very few remember what life was like before, and who
was always by their side in the most painful situations.

Life Is a Gift

Today before you say an unkind word - Think of someone who can't
speak.

Before you complain about the taste of your food - Think of someone
who has nothing to eat.

Before you complain about your husband or wife - Think of someone
who's crying out to GOD for a companion.

Today before you complain about life - Think of someone seriously ill who fights for every breath

And when you are tired and complain about your job - Think of the unemployed, the disabled, and those who wish they had your job.

And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down - Put a smile on your face and think: you're alive and still around.

This pretty much says it all. Count your blessings each and everyday. My mom always used to tell me, "I complained because I had no shoes until I met the man who had no feet". Be thankful for what you have and thank the Lord that you have it.

Ottoman Doily

I made this for sis. She seen it posted on one of the groups we belong to and asked for the pattern, if it was a free pattern and it was, YAY. So I hurried and made one for her before she could make one for herself. She should receive it today or tomorrow in the mail. I know she is going to love it and she is anxiously awaiting its arrival.

Complete and in its new home

Baby Blanket

Here is what I made yesterday. It is a simple "V" stitch with one skein of simply soft brights in watermelon and the light pink is Red Heart Baby Clouds in Pink Lemonade and the darker fluffy pink is Red Heart Bright and Lofty in Bubblegum. I used an "M" hook and did a hdc all around the border.
This is a gift for one of the sisters who's daughter just had a baby.

Pillow

I decided to make a pillow to go with the Afghan for my mother-in-law. This was actually the swatch square that I did to show her what I thought the square should look and then after seeing it in one color we went and picked out another color which was the heather grey. So I saved the solid square and it has been tossed here and there and I thought of the pillow.

I made an applique first of little forget-me-not flowers and attached in a bunch. I them embellished that with beads and sewed it to the center of the square after adding several rows to the border. I then made two petal forget-me-not's that seemed to look like butterflies to me and placed them in each corner and put the smaller forget-me-not's that I had from a bag of buttons and sewed them to the middle. I think the red/pink color is the same to match the curtains that she made with fabric she bought while on her last trip to Paris. If it does not match I can always remove them with a simple "snip".

MIL afghan finished

Yup, you heard right. I have finished it tonight. Here are the photos and I have it in the wash right now so I can block it a bit. I am pleased with it and hope my mother- in- law loves it. I am sure she will, she is such a wonderful person and I could not ask for a better Mother-in-law.

Shook the dust off and finished it

Well I found this in the back of my guest bedroom closet and remembered starting it. So I sewed it together and made the afghan that will go to my new group CFAC. I will also be working on some stuffed animals that will be for the CAL over there for the month of April.

Another idea that turns out Good

Well there I sat yesterday afternoon looking at the purse handles that I have and my mind started working again and here is my latest creation. Same yarn as last purse but different colors and I used a "L" Hook.

Fun Fur and Cotton Purse.

So I have all these purse handles laying around so last night I decided to make use of a set. I sat down and went through my pattern books and found nothing that I liked so I put on my creative thinking cap and came up with this while watching American Idol, (I love Adam Lambert).

I used some fun fur that I had laying around and Peaches and Cream cotton in Northwoods. My hook size was a "J". I lined the inside with a beautiful green paisley sorta silk fabric. I really like it and can't wait to use it. And you knew when you started reading this that of course it would be GREEN!!!

Mother -In - Law afghan

Well folks I am getting down to the finish line finally. Here is a photo of the entire thing put together, all 40 squares. Now I have the 8 round border to go. I can see that light at the end of the tunnel, :)!!

Now I am wondering what my next big project will be. :)

The Magic Shrug

Here is a photo of my latest project. The free leaflet I received from the yarn group that I belong to. It is on my side bar called RA_Yarns n' More. I had fun doing this and I used a heavier weight yarn then called for and also a different size hook. I used Caron worsted weight acrylic in White and Cape Cod. I used an "I" hook as well. Here are photos of the front and back.

I have one more row to do on the bottom and then it will be finished. It was getting late and I wanted to get a photo and post before going to bed.

A few more projects complete

Here are a few project that I finished this weekend. A short neck scarf, pattern in my head. I used a cable stitch that sis and I learned while she was here and went from that and this is the of my efforts.

Next is a larger Amazing star square. I just love this pattern . I will be working on the from time to time and make a afghan out of them.

No picture update on the Mother-in-law afghan but I have 10 squares totally completed along with a single extra round of single crochet around it.

And last is a doily that I finished that sis and I started when she first got here.

I am glad to have these things completed and out of the way. I am really going to try and see if I can get the mother-in-law finished this week.

Crochenit Reversible Place mats

This is a new technique that sis and I learned together while she was here with the help of a tutorial that our friend Sandy has on her Crochet Cabana web site (see link at the side bar of this blog, yes I am lazy :). She gave wonderful instructions and I am hooked. I have decided to make a set of place mats that are reversible and I am using a variegated peaches and cream pound cone and miami ribbon yarn together. I am using a size G crochenit hook. The ribbon yarn side when done looks like a waffle pattern and it is very cool. Not sure how they will wash up since I am using cotton and acrylic together but I love the effects that the two different yarns give it.

Click on the photo to make them larger and take a closer look at the stitches. I like this technique much better than knitting. :)

More projects finished

Here are a few more projects that sis and I worked on while she was here for her visit. The first one is called the Amazing Star Square and I made a few of them in different colors so that you can see how different they all look.

The other thing that we learned was how to Crochenit and I made this wash cloth. I made another one as well but gave it away before I got a photo of it. So here is the one that I kept.

Her is a photo of the tape measure that I did. I tried to make it look like an apple with a bad spot and a worm coming out of it.

I have a few more projects to post but have to get photos of them first. I am sad that sissy's last day here with me is tomorrow. I am already dreading letting her go. I sure am going to miss her.

Well off to have some more fun while the time still permits.

The "FACE" again

Here is the creation that came out of the face that the contest was based on. It is a purse for a little girl and a very special girl at that. That little girls name is Brooke, yes Wendy's very own Brooke. This is her prize for suggesting that I make a doll out of her. Thank you Brooke and I hope you enjoy your new purse and take care of her and maybe give it to your own little girl when you get older and have children.
