tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7767844.post-4630887539189453592007-10-21T20:01:00.000-07:002007-10-21T20:02:47.475-07:00Urdu gets 2nd official language statusGARHWA: Urdu-knowing people of Garhwa district as well as several Muslim organisaitons have welcomed the state government’s notification extending second official language status to Urdu in Jharkhand.<br /><br />Welcoming the government decision, presidnet of Garhwa district Anjuman Taraqqi-E-Urdu Yasin Ansari said, “Madhu Koda-led UPA government of Jharkhand has fulfileld its commitment made to the public and honoured the interests of Urdu-knowing people.” The organisation’s general seretary, Reyaz Ahmad, said the state government gave Urdu its deserved place.<br /><br />Amit Kesri, a graduate in Urdu (hons) of local SSJSN College said, “The UPA government of Jharkhand has proved its secular character by granting second official status to Urdu”.
