What is Twitter?

There's a new kid in town and his name is Twitter, and if you don't know what Twitter is you most certainly need to find out. And that is my purpose here today. I would like to inform you about what could be the next most powerful marketing tool to come into the hands of anyone that is trying to do internet marketing. Some say it could have a bigger impact on internet marketing then having a mailing list. As any good marketer will tell you, if you don't have a list your chances of making money online are very unlikely. I would like to add to that by saying if you don't Twitter your at a great disadvantage in the market place.

The reason I say this, is because Twitter is a new type of web2 social site that allows there members to keep in touch with one another, by allowing you to post short messages (tweets) on your Twitter account about what you're doing. This allows those people that choose to follow you to be able to see your messages (tweets).

Now to give you a bit of an idea how Twitter could be a very powerful medium for you marketing efforts. If you decide to have your Twitter account devoted to a particular niche, for example the diet food niche with people that might be interested in diet food and diet recipes and related information. These people would likely want to follow your tweets because they liked what you have to say and what you might have to offer.

When you make a tweet on your Twitter account you are allowed to place links in your tweets, to guide your followers to some more information for your niche. So when you start your twitter account you try to get only followers that are interested in what your niche is about. This way your followers are targeted to the market you are promoting. This can lead to very high click through rate on any links in your tweets.

One way you can attract followers is to follow other people that are in niches related to yours. Like in the case of our example "diet food", we could follow those people that are into dieting or people looking for diet recipes. Most times when you follow someone on twitter they do you the same in return by following you back. Now you can't get to wild with this business of following people. You want to start out with only following a dozen or so a day. You want to have a link on your webpage's and in your signatures for your emails and forum activities, so those people can follow your tweets on twitter as well.

Now if you look at the big picture you can sort of look at twitter as building a mailing list of very targeted subscribers, but with some very nice differences. For one thing you don't have to worry if your message is making it through to your subscriber's inbox. You don't have to have double opt-ins; hence it is easier to acquire subscribers (followers). You don't have to worry about spam complaints, and Twitter is free so you don't need an autoresponder.

Want some marketing leverage on the internet try the power of Twitter. Some say Barack Obama won the election because he was and is a Twitter. I'm inclined to agree with that statement.

Now Twitter me this, if you had two or three hundred targeted Twitters following your tweets, with a click through rates ranging from 3% to 10%, do you think you might make some money. I'm guessing a resounding yes.

As an artist, I often suggest starting with a smaller piece that they are thinking of getting later down the line. Starting small isn't a bad thing, if you can't tolerate the pain at least you can get through the 15-20 minutes it would take to complete something small, and be proud of the finished product. I can't count the times I've seen people writhing in pain while under the needle. Most, don't even make it through the first hour. They often leave with line work, and possibly a shade or two here or there, which in anyone's mind isn't attractive.

Looking for inspiration for tattoos is at your fingertips. The internet is now used by client and artist alike. It provides a quick, and easy reference. Using search engines such as Google.com, and Dogpile.com is a good resource for anyone looking for meanings behind images, or something to reach out and grab you.

Your Health ... It's Good for You!

Your health is very important, how do you take care of it? Do you exercise regularly? Do you control your diet? How about the food you love? Will you give them up for your own health? As for me I love to drink, especially cold drinks, but since I have this illness, I can't drink too much water or I'll be dead drowning from the inside.

How about life insurance? Do you have one? I think it's also very important to get a health care insurance, but it's too late for me. I got sick on 15 and I haven't had the chance to buy an insurance myself that time, and mostly Malaysian (including my parent) are not aware of this until they stumbled upon these type of crappy problem.

Hi, today while using the internet I felt like checking my S&P account, maybe I got a task to do. After I logged in, the toolbar showed that I have a Delicious' task to perform. I do the task like I always do

and I'm surprised to see that Google Blog, is also using S&P to promote their blog!

Well that's weird, S&P is supposed to be a black hat way of marketing or promoting your blog/site on the internet. I know they don't need to use a black hat kind of promotion to promote their blog, because people already know what is Google. I'm still wondering now why they used it haha.

IconJ is still in Beta version and I hope it will continue to serve as a favicon hosting site as I can't find anything that is as simple as this to use a favicon on in Blogger.

Let's Talk About Life Insurance

A casual journey from the boring subject of Life Insurance to the fascinating world of Cryogenics. Life insurance is never a fun topic to discuss. Nevertheless I have recently found that I am developing an interest in when would be the best time for me to take out a policy. As it stands there are two schools of thought on whether someone who falls in the '30 and under' bracket should take out a life insurance policy. Those pro-LI folks argue that it is good to do so now due to the low premiums for people who are young and healthy. Yet, on the other side of the fence, the anti-LI guys are saying that young people will be far smarter if they put their savings into high-interest saving accounts instead.

Both arguments seem fair. However, I have now developed a morbid curiosity into what I would like to happen to me in the end. There are many options, including: church burial (which seems a little boring nowadays), sea burial (but I think I need to be a sailor for this), home burial (too weird?), cremation and burial (too indulgent?), cremation and scattering (ok), cryopreservation?

The latter may seem like a joke too many, but there have been at least 150 recorded cases of cryopreservation to date (Walt Disney isn't one of them); and the science is still advancing with the use of vitrification as opposed to the classic practice of freezing - as perpetuated by science fiction.

But what does this have to do with life insurance? Ben Best, President of the Cryonics Society of Canada, is confident that cryonics patients are likely to be reanimated in our lifetime (within 50-100 years). Despite this, the cost of being cryopreserved is famously expensive (up to $200,000), but most cryonicists pay for the privilege with life insurance policies. Consequently, if you've ever considered being cryopreserved and you're under 30, not only are you of the most likely generation to witness the technology being a reality, but you should get the necessary funds in order because - as it stands - the likelihood of cryonic reanimation does not yet preclude an insurance payout.

It's all very interesting. Though, I'm not completely sure I would want to be cryopreserved. However, wouldn't it be great to see a world of hover-boards, mile-high buildings and no Coldplay in the charts?

Still, even if I'm not entirely convinced with cryo-technology, at least the miserable inevitability of having to deal with life insurance at some point would be much more bearable if I face up to it at a younger and cheaper age. And if I ever need to be cheered up about the subject, I can have the following thought at the back of my mind: one day, I may be just a little closer to living that Hans Solo fantasy of mine...
