Edit The Hotel Postal Address - Added

Our users have been requesting for a way to edit the hotel postal address.

This feature went live yesterday! Those of you who need to edit an incorrect address or add to an exising address, may sign in to the control panel and click on the 'Edit Accommodation' link under the submitted hotel/accommodation.

Email Page To Friend - Fixed

The email page to a friend feature has been fixed.

This feature was non-functional for a while as we were in the process of migrating HoboHideout.com to the new template.

Users can now click on the email button at the top and email the page as a link to a friend.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

HoboHideout.com Gets a New Look

We have been working towards updating HoboHideout.com to a whole new look!

Our new layout is built entirely in CSS and we have stopped using table tags alltogether.

We now have a consistent three column layout. The color scheme on the new layout revolves around the Hobo graphic.

We're gravitating towards map navigation. Users can now navigate by continent. The Google map of a city or non-city location has been moved to a separate page. To view a city map, click on the map link that appears on the right column of the city page.

Hotel Owners that own multiple hotels or accommodation business may want to add these businesses without having to create a new separate account for each of these hotels.

To add multiple hotels: signin into the control panel, click Add Accommodation.

The process will guide you to select the country, city and other details needed to Add your Hotel.

Beginning from today, our system will auto replace the & sign with the word and.

Our policy on titles and filenames remains the same. Lowercase a-z, Uppercase A-Z and numbers 0-9 are supported.

We recommend that hotel owners sign in every month or as frequently possible and update the telephone and mobile numbers (if there’s been a change). Do double check that the international and state codes are in the correct format too.

We also recommend that your update your room prices so that they reflect your current pricing scheme.

Periodically updated telephone, mobile/cellphone numbers and room prices ensure that your listing remains credible and facilitates queries from users to you (hotel owners) over the telephone.

HoboHideout.com requires users to submit two separate email addresses during signup. The primary email account cannot be the same as the secondary email.

We recommend that you submit email addresses from two different service providers. For example: The primary email could be a Yahoo! Email address and the secondary could be GMail or Hotmail/MSN.

We send out confirmation emails to both email addresses so be sure that both addresses are active.

HoboHideout.com is built on a global scale. We’ve been making it easier for you to navigate around the five million plus cities across the world.

Users in the United States can now navigate to a city through an alphabetical list of options. The drill down is based on the first three characters of a city name.

For example, the alphabets ‘NEW’ are the first three alphabets of the city name New York. To drill down to the city of New York from the United States level, look for the “Navigate to a City”. Once there:

- click N
- click NE
- click NEW

The NEW alphabetical ordered list displays a list of cities from the United States. These cities begin with the alphabets NEW.

State and county names are displayed to the left of the city. Click on the city that best matches the city you are looking for.

Submission Process, Auto complete City Names

If you are a hotel owner, the first step is to get listed on HoboHideout.com (signup and submit your hotel).

The signup process is fast and we’ve streamlined the process in five easy steps.

In this post, we will talk about the step two auto complete feature for city names. Our submission process will auto complete the city name for you. Enter the first few characters of the city name and select your city from the dropdown menu.

In the example below a hotel owner from Thailand, Bangkok is submitting his hotel.

Once submitted, the hotel will appear in the following locations:
Thailand and Bangkok

If the auto complete menu does not appear at all, be sure to check that you've installed the latest version of Internet Explorer or Firefox. We’ve successfully tested the auto complete on Internet Explorer version 6, 7, Firefox version 2.0 and the Opera browser.
