Defined as "a significant decline in economic activity", this economy has certainly fit the bill. People often make the mistake of thinking a recession is a contraction of the gross domestic product. Even I thought thats what defined a recession. I wonder what defines a depression.

Either way economists have stated that the economy has surprisingly withstood many negative impacts including high fuel prices, the housing bubble, and a credit crunch. Will it survive another 911 though? Probably not, and we all hope and pray that such an occurrence does not happen again.

JTnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7712400840012446328.post-57833535463708774822008-05-30T03:05:00.000-07:002008-05-30T03:16:31.732-07:00Trade Show Display IdeasI was browsing around on the internet and found the coolest thing ever if you are into non profit work or trade shows of any kind in the corporate or business world. These are trade show display ideas that are custom fit all your needs.

I personally volunteer with a non profit organization in which I often get put in charge of creating a unique setup for a trade show. We have often employed going to a graphic studio print shop with expensive ideas and design costs. But taking a look at these display units makes me think how sharp any non profit or business would look by using them. My first impression is modern, sharp, and hip. Using these very modern display units will grab the attention of all those that may be passing by and provides a unique way to get a campaign message across or to promote that new product line. Whatever the goal may be, the end result is the same...the information gets to the audience in a more catching way.

Their are bulletin board displays, electronic displays, there are portable displays, there are custom displays. You relly just have to go through them all to see all the options. ANd the best part that I noticed was the prices are not so bad for what you get. I personally just ordered one their free catalogs and plan to use this website for the next show our non profit will be at. Thanks for listening.

JTnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7712400840012446328.post-31058432140725612642008-05-30T02:53:00.000-07:002008-05-30T03:04:30.883-07:0019k GM workers Take PayoutThe Chicago Tribune is reporting that nearly 1 in 4 GM workers are taking a payout package to leave the company. The move is expected to save GM money in the long run. New employees who are willing to work for less money will take some of their places.

This is shocking news! GM has long been a source of good American jobs. Now that Japanese car companies have taken a solid lead in the automobile industry, some restructuring of the Big Three have to take place to stay competitive.

In response to the current economic market, GM is scrapping two designs of its cars and planning for the future. The Energy Act of 2007 demanding that cars attain an average of 35 mph by 2020. That is a 40% increase from GM's current average. This issue coupled with rising fuel costs and a demand for better fuel efficiency from consumers is pushing GM to rethink its previously strongest selling SUV's and trucks. Instead, they will cut shutdown plants and lay even more people off in attempt to keep up with the times.

Things are basically not looking good for this company...but hopefully they can adjust to the market demand and build cars that people want...hybrids.

JTnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7712400840012446328.post-80778647240401611492008-05-30T02:29:00.000-07:002008-05-30T02:47:32.648-07:00eDrugstore.md Has All Your Pharmacy NeedsIf you are one of the many Americans that has a prescription but don't want to make a trip to the pharmacy or can't because of the hours you have to work? There is one website I have come across that is online pharmacy and is actually cheaper than the same old same old. The website says it offers $20 off for refills!

If you are like me and you are trying to save every penny you can because of the rising costs of fuel, food, and everything else, then saving $20 is important to you. eDrugstore.md has the lowest price compared to any other online pharmacy an sells brand name prescriptions. If you are in search of online prescriptions from any other website, make sure you check the prices and any deals they might have because they may not be as good as eDrugstore.md.

Sometimes the convenience of going to an online pharmacy outweigh the embarrassment of having to pickup your prescription drugs in person...this can be especially true if you are taking levitra or Viagra for erectile dysfunction. The examples could literally go on. Sharing personal information around at the local pharmacy can be embarrassing and you'll never know who might bump into.

The website has full feature information for all the major top brand prescriptions so if you have any questions about cost, use, and or side effects, you can research all that information straight from the website. To better help the customer, the website also features a nifty 'Ask a Physician' section where answers to the most common questions are offered and if your question is not listed, then their physicians will respond to your needs or questions.

Overall the website is a hub of information and a great easy and convenient online resource for all your prescription needs. Not only is it easy, it is hassle free and comes with fast and secure shipping. Check it out for yourself, you might be surprised.

JTnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7712400840012446328.post-19649897763679996942008-05-07T13:00:00.000-07:002008-05-07T13:05:31.569-07:00U.S. Consumer Debt RisesConsumer credit increased by $15.3 billion for the month to $2.56 trillion, the biggest monthly rise since November, the Federal Reserve said today in Washington. In February, credit rose by $6.5 billion, previously reported as an increase of $5.2 billion. The Fed's report doesn't cover borrowing secured by real estate, such as home-equity loans.

People in the United States are now obviously charging up their credit cards because of the recession. There is less money on hand and it is forcing people to borrow more money than they normally would. With the price of oil over $123 a barrel, the rising costs of energy, and the housing credit crisis, the only hope is that economic stimulus package starts to help out in a meaningful way.

Once people start getting those checks, they may end up using them to pay off their credit cards, which might not help the economy so much.

Thoughts, Comments, Questions...

JTnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7712400840012446328.post-78717014600408781922008-05-07T12:39:00.000-07:002008-05-07T12:53:13.486-07:00Identity Theft on MyspaceA recent report on the evening news warned Americans that popular social networking sites like MySpace and Facebook have been an increasing target for identity theft. Hackers are learning how are tricking users into entering their information by creating fake websites that look authentic. The process is called phishing. Once a Myspace user clicks on the site, viruses can record your information and get passwords to your bank, financial records, and any other personal information they may want.4

Identity theft has already been a huge problem in our modern day world. As technology progresses, security must get tighter in order to protect ourselves. In a time where the economy in the United States is slumping due to the recession, having your identity stolen is the last thing anyone needs.

If you feel like you need protection from identity theft, there are insurance services to help save your good name. Check out lifelock, to see if there plan is agreeable within your budget. For $110 per adult per year, and $25 per child per year, you will receive their $1 Million Total Service Guarantee. They also have a monthly plan if that would be an easier payment. The service they offer will pay for any damages occurred from the identity theft up to $1 million per person. That is a great deal!

Identity theft accounts for 36% of all the complaints received by the Federal Trade Commission in the United States. This proves that there is a problem that we should all be weary about. So be careful on those social networking sites and don't fall for those emails or pop-ups.

JTnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7712400840012446328.post-46393168141028458712008-05-07T12:28:00.000-07:002008-05-07T12:38:09.454-07:00Oil Prices hit a Record $123 a barrelToday, Wednesday May 7th, a new record has been set for the price of oil at $123 per barrel.

According to the New York Times, investors and traders are still worried about the increasing demand of oil. If these prices climb any higher, this country could fall apart. Some people say that the weakened US Dollar is to blame.

This ultimately means that the national average of gasoline could hit $3.75 by June. More money at the gas pump means that more media coverage will be dramatically covering the issue. More media attention should convince people to pressure the government into really finding a solution to the problem.

President Bush had already said that he would like to open the National Arctic Refuge in Alaska for drilling. But will the environmentalists let him...I don't think so.

Thought, Comments, Questions...

JTnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7712400840012446328.post-27915260167289618342008-05-07T12:14:00.000-07:002008-05-07T12:23:29.891-07:00Broken Computer? The plan on blanketing the United States with enough transmitters for nearly 140 million Americans by 2010. Essentially, these transmitters are going to pop up as fast as those cell phone transmitters did.

Once it is all established, you will be in a permanent hotspot and will be able to get fast Internet connections from a cellphone or laptop anywhere you go. Certainly Verizon and AT&T would be the big losers in this situation. Sprint and Clearwire also have allies that will help provide nearly $3 billion in funding to get the project started. The project is being tested by Clearwire in Portland, Oregon right now but now has plans to rapidly expand.

Intel and Google are contributing to the projects because of their stake in making money through this new infrastructure. Intel would supply the chips to help spur growth in the industry, and Google will gain a broader hold as the preferred search engine by staking a claim on the WiMax market now.

Thoughts, Comments, Questions...

JTnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7712400840012446328.post-58328494544925538552008-05-05T22:51:00.000-07:002008-05-05T22:53:09.786-07:00Stimulus Check & Business LoansWhat will you do with your economic stimulus check? It is the governments intention that people spend the money to help stimulate the slumping economy. I am personally going to use my stimulus check to help me start my small business. However, that will definitely not enough money to start a business. I managed to snag a lease for a 100 square foot commercial space that I am going to use for an art gallery. The $600 the government gives me will help, but I will need to borrow additional money to realy help me jump start the business.

To do that, I found this site that gives Business Loans. If you meet there recommended credit criteria, they will streamline the process to get that money you really need to start that business of yours. In my case, my art gallery will not need that much money to get started, but who knows. The website is very simple and easy to use. It also has a starting a business section that will help you get an idea of where to start. If you have a good credit score, they will rarely require income verification as well. You don't even need to submit a business plan or anything. The website boasts excellent customer service and has a totally easy processing system. The funding is also provided in a speedy manner which could be crucial to starting a business or sustaining one. You never know if you are going to need emergency funding to keep things going, so EZunsecured.com is the place for that and more.

So regardless of what your situation is, if you are thinking about starting a business and using your economic stimulus money for something meaningful, then check out all your options and stop by the link above. Thanks.

JTnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7712400840012446328.post-19698178491538090502008-05-05T22:15:00.000-07:002008-05-05T22:21:47.643-07:00Yahoo walks away from Microsoft BidApparently Yahoo is too cool for Microsoft. A price was put on the table for Microsoft to buy out Yahoo, but Yahoo walked away from the table because they felt it was worth more than what was offered. Microsoft claimed that Yahoo did not even try to negotiate. Well, there you have it...two giant corporations fighting over dominance in one way or another.

Honestly though, who wants the two companies to merge? They are both annoying and want to try to compete with the likes of Google. But in my opinion, they have no chance. Google's ethics and morality as a company far outweigh that of anything capable from the monopolistic Microsoft.

Just my rant for the day. What are your thoughts?

JTnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7712400840012446328.post-33073992477047337992008-05-05T20:04:00.000-07:002008-05-05T20:06:23.038-07:00Traveling Cheaply this SummerTraveling Cheaply this Summer

With gas prices on the rise, few families are planning on making long treks by car across the country. But, this doesn't mean that you don't have any options for a summer vacation and that it can't be done affordably.

First, many airlines are offering excellent options for flying. In many cases, you can save money simply by flying than by driving, especially when you consider the price of gas and the cost of hotels on the road during long drives.

A second option that allows you to do a lot of exploring on a budget is to take a cruise. This is a great option that you can take advantage of, especially if you don't live far from a port. You can often get last minute cruises for a low rate per person. These vacations include all the food you can eat, lodging, entertainment and you get to explore exotic destinations. You can even go back to the boat while you're in port if you don't want to spend extra money on food in the country you're visiting. Cruises are an entire vacation for one great price.

If you're planning on a taking a very special vacation this summer, consider vacation loans. These are generally unsecured loans that you can take out with your local bank. Many banks begin advertising these loans at the beginning of the summer. These loans can help you to take the vacation of your dreams and finance it out over a specific time period. This means you don't need all of the money for your vacation up front and it can provide you with spending money while you're traveling.

Finally, consider a short weekend trip near your home. There are so many unique destinations to be found in this country, that it's hard not to have fun when you just get out of town for the weekend and relax a little. Be sure to check out the discount hotel sites so that you don't overspend on a room you are only going to be sleeping in at night.

JTnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7712400840012446328.post-86768111395299736482008-03-07T01:19:00.000-08:002008-03-07T01:27:52.977-08:00Sony: Microsoft Wants Blu-Ray XboxApparently, the news is buzzing around with talks about Microsoft being in the works of trying to work out a way for them to get blu-ray technology into their Xbox 360's. In theory, this would allow for Microsoft to better compete with Sony's Playstation which has the obvious advantage with its built in blu-ray technology. However, Microsoft would have to pay for the technology.

It just seems funny to me to see Microsoft initially supporting HD-DVD back when they thought it was going to be the winner of the high definition war. Now that HD-DVD is a failure, they go groveling to Sony for the technology they should have backed in the first place. Funny how.

JTnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7712400840012446328.post-8719286143427454242008-03-07T00:04:00.000-08:002008-03-07T00:31:07.978-08:00Ocean Potion Sun Tan LotionSpring Break is almost here and thats why I am going to tell you about this amazing sun care and tanning product line from Ocean Potion. They have a variety of products to choose from depending on what you prefer. My personal favorite is Xtreme Coconut Oil with SPF 4 because I love the smell of coconut oil and its super healthy for your skin. The website has many different products such as the "gradual glow" tanning lotion which absorbs into the skin fast, as well as softens your skin with its natural contents. It also has natural shea and coco butters to make it go on smooth without looking fake and without those nasty streaks.

So anyways, there is this Spring Break contest going on at opotion.com that is trying to get the general public to enter a 30 second to 1 minute video commercial for there tanning line on YouTube. A winner will be selected and that person will win a $5000 reward. Spring Break is around the corner, and for all you people that want a better tan without the sun can use a product from opotion.com. Besides that, don't forget to some crunches while you're at it so you look extra hot along with your new sunless tan.

JTnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7712400840012446328.post-68586022772356668902008-03-06T21:51:00.000-08:002008-03-07T01:29:53.931-08:00Apple Iphone to Woo Blackberry UsersIn an article out of Bloomberg, Apple's Steve Jobs has announced plans to allow third party software writers to build upon the IPhone platform which was previously blocked by Apple before. The main reason many Blackberry users haven't switched to the Iphone was because of lack of the ability to access corporate email automatically from the phone. Now Steve Jobs has a new goal of selling 10 million I-phones by the end of 2008. So about 4.1 million have been sold so far.

By allowing corporate email such as Microsoft Exchange, to work in the I-phone, the hopes are that many people who hold dear to their Blackberries, might make the switch. Will Steve Jobs hit the goal by the end of year?

JTnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7712400840012446328.post-12001169902062344612008-03-06T21:19:00.000-08:002008-03-06T21:44:46.142-08:00Get Organized with LabelsDo you ever feel like you should start getting organized around your house or small business? Well if you've thought about it like so many people do, then you should highly consider starting out by printing out labels for things like files, containers, or storage boxes. Having things labeled make searching for things so much easier.

I've checked out this site for label makers and it is actually pretty cool. They have videos that show you how easy it is to apply labels and they could benefit your life.
If you click on the home solutions link and get a list of the products available, you will see how they have a compare feature which I used to compare two different label makers that were exactly the same price, but I wanted a comparison of the different features offered by both of them. The two models were LT-100H and LT-100T, the only difference at first glance is their appearance. But they both have cool features like languages available in English, Spanish, and French, and they both had box effects and memory to remember the last label printed.

As a small business, I would say having on of these if you don't already is a must. Personally, since I have been thinking about starting a business, I am going to invest in one. Also don't forget to check out their desktop mailing solution. They offer a printer with full access to online stamps which allows you to print out postage right from your home or small business. Check out the site for full details.

<img border="0" id=disclosure_bar_"20399" src="http://tinyurl.com/26a8a7" onmouseover="show_disclosure_ad(20399);ad_closed=false;" onmouseout="hide_disclosure_ad();ad_closed=true;" />

JTnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7712400840012446328.post-58035289789684858762008-03-05T02:37:00.000-08:002008-04-16T16:38:04.828-07:00California to Utilize Methane from Dairy CowsAccording to Earthtimes.org, PG&E and BioEnergy solutions just came up with the world's first project that will utilize the methane released from dairy cow manure for use into California's Renewable energy portfolio. It's the first of its kind to be implemented from bio gas to pipeline. It works by flushing the manure into a covered lagoon after which the manure decomposes and special scrubbers purify the gas to pipeline standards and get shipped off for use. This initial project will start out at a 5,000 dairy cow farm but has potential to reach California's 2 million cow population.

The system claims to reduce 70 percent of the methane that would have been dispersed into the atmosphere. This form of methane capture saves the planet from additional greenhouse gases, as methane is a greenhouse gas 21 times more potent than carbon dioxide. It also qualifies PG&E for inclusion into their renewable energy portfolio under biomass. California energy regulators have required energy companies to produce 20 percent renewable energy by 2010 which has the energy companies scrambling to comply through either solar, biomass, wind, geothermal, or small hydroelectric. The future of natural gas could come from an entirely renewable source for California.

A similar project in Israel is underway to capture methane for electricity. It appears that the projects finally caught on in the states, turning brown into green.

With basic knowledge about insurance quotes, you can end up in a much better deal of house insurance as well as any health deal like a dental insurance. Plus, it also saves you from a specious and cheap travel insurance deal.

JTnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7712400840012446328.post-43755642224907243252008-03-05T02:05:00.000-08:002008-03-05T06:19:29.810-08:00Domain RegistrationIf you are a blogger or website owner or wish to become one, you must first seek to purchase a Domain Registration for the name of your website or blog. Lithium ion batteries will transform the hybrid market with longer lasting batteries and better performance than their nickel metal hydride counterparts in current hybrid vehicles.

GM doesn't plan to offer lithium ion hybrids until 2010 with plans to put lithium ion batteries into its Saturn Vue Plug-in, but it does say it plans to use it across a broad range of its models as well including the much anticipated Chevy Volt.

A smart move for The Big Three Auto companies as Toyota has plans to compete by utilizing plug-in hybrids which can add more fuel efficiency and the ability to drive in all electric mode if drivers only drive a short distance everyday.

The dynamics of the emerging hybrid markets are very interesting to say the least. We'll keep you updated as more stories come out on the topic. More info on the hybrid plug in wars between Toyota and GM. GM has a lot of catching up to do because even Honda Hybrids are gaining momentum as they try to place their dominance in the market of high fuel efficient vehicles.

JTnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7712400840012446328.post-15813370174234806742008-03-04T22:40:00.000-08:002008-03-05T06:19:12.373-08:00Peoples Health Insurance - Find the Right PlanThere are lot of people in the country that might not have health insurance due to various reasons like being in between jobs, or a college student, etc. Having health insurance is one of the most important ways to cover yourself in case of a health emergency.

A really cool site that I came across offers just that. It offers health insurance for any situation and has the right plan for everyone. Some of the plans range from affordable short term health insurance, to student health insurance. Student health insurance is something that I had to purchase while I was going through college due to unavailable coverage in my area. It was a simple process and was reasonably priced. Make sure you don't just assume that you are covered under your parents plan when attending college like so many of my friends did. It can cost you thousands of dollars in medical bills like my dear friend Danielle.

The site has easy to follow instructions depending on your desired needs for insurance. Applying is easy, all you have to do is fill in a form, and they do the rest. Remember not to gamble on your health, it's just not worth it.

JTnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7712400840012446328.post-30587273621695852412008-03-04T21:59:00.000-08:002008-03-05T06:23:47.045-08:00The Amero CurrencyI read this over at the Modesto Bee, and wondered to myself how such a system would be implemented. The Amero is a currency that would encompass a union of currencies the US Dollar, the Canadian Dollar, and the Mexican Peso. Supposedly this is all a part of the North American Union that some conspiracy theorists keep talking about as well as some members of congress. The issue never gets any public media unless it is to try and discredit it.

But I say, bring it on. Our economy is so messed up or soon will be, what harm will a new currency do to our devalued Dollar anyway. Maybe it will help us prevent a recession. I say lets follow the EU model and become a North American Union and introduce a new currency just as the Europeans have. Look at how well the EURO is doing against other world currencies. It's time to look past petty differences between the countries we share borders with and become a regional super power.

Check it out or google the Amero for yourself.

JTnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7712400840012446328.post-86886022121132016882008-03-04T21:36:00.000-08:002008-03-05T06:25:05.691-08:00EZunsecured Business LoansIf you have entrepreneurial blood like I do, then you will really be interested in this blog post about how obtain an easy unsecured business loan. He wants to help those people with mortgages that exceed the value of their homes. His basic point was that he was urging the bankers to forgive portions of loans in order to prevent a broader economic weakening in the country. He apparently avoided saying that there was going to be a government bailout.

Democratic leaders in Congress are pushing for bolder action. The House speaker, Nancy Pelosi, will hold a closed meeting on Wednesday with some of the leading advocates for more extensive rescue measures.

Overall, more and more foreclosures are expected to keep rolling through 2008. As more time goes on more pressure will be put onto the government for some sort of bailout. We'll have to wait and see the outcome.

JTnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7712400840012446328.post-84822796984108438252008-03-04T21:00:00.000-08:002008-03-05T06:20:34.182-08:00Car InsuranceI am sure everyone one of you who drives out there is familiar with the auto insurance industry. No one likes to pay it, but we all have to. Some of the most annoying things about Car Insurance is that if you ever get a speeding ticket or into an accident, then you bill goes up.

In my case, however, I am just one of those young guys at the age 24 waiting to turn the magical age of 25 so my car insurance can go down. I definitely have checked into all the possible discounts I can get for the type of vehicle I have by going into the office. Some people don't realize that they qualify for discounts and should call their insurance companies immediately to ask. This can either save you money right away or they might tell you a way to save by taking a class or installing better safety features of some sort.

With my car, which is a Honda Civic Hybrid, I get extra discounts because it is a hybrid, and I also get extra discounts for having good safety features on it. I have also been a good driver for the past five years so I get an additional discount for that. All in all, I am pretty happy with my insurance company and I have thought about looking around to see if I could get a better deal. If you are thinking about looking for new auto insurance then check out that link above^ because they are giving out free insurance quotes. Either way, car insurance is a fact of life.

JTnoreply@blogger.com0
