We headed out for a long overdue vacation. In Hong Kong visiting family and friends for Chinese New Year.

Lila was great on the flight over. An iPod filled with episodes of Sesame Street is essential for long flights with little ones!

It's unbelievable to think that a year has already passed since Lila joined the fun. We celebrated with a fun party with friends and family.

Alice Arrival

Grandma Alice arrived to California to visit her daughters and grand-daughters. We celebrated her arrival with day for Dim Sum and to the Acadamy of Sciences museum which recently reopenned after many years of renovation. It was worth the wait -- the new museum is awesome!!

We headed over to the Chowanec's for a party to celebrate the arrival of their second son, Dylan.

Catamaran cruise of the bay

Ally and Brian invited the fam out for a catamaran cruise of the bay. We had a great time taking in the sights with Joe, Karen, Brian, Allison, Barbara and George, and Maria. This was Lila's second boat ride and luckily a life-jacket wasn't required this time!

After, we headed back to Brian and Al's place for great food and company!

Our friend Shao Wei, an artist that works with Sean, painted an amazing watercolor of Lila. Sean had it framed and we showed it to Lila who was very excited!

The watercolor is amazing -- it really captures Lila's funny personality. We are so grateful for the wonderful gift!

7th Anniversary

Cindy and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary today and had a great day! Gma came over to take Lila.

I found some great easles at Aaron Brothers. We found our old brushes and oils and spent the day painting (stay tuned for posts with the results!)

Late in the afternoon, Cindy and I went out to the DeYoung museum in Golden Gate park to catch the Chihuly exhibit.

So much for technology though -- Google maps, the navigation system in the car, my iPhone all conspired to send us to the wrong museum -- we ended up at the Legion of Honor, but eventually made our way to DeYoung.

Dinner at Ebisu and then back over to Gma's to grab Lila.

Visit to Joe Russell

Joe Russell is my best friend from our days back in Greenbrook. He and his brother Chris were regulars at our house when we were growing up in Danville. Thanks to LinkedIn, we recently reconnected and got together for a great day up at his house near Lake Berryessa in Napa.

Lila Scoots Around

Lila's getting good a scooting around the house in her walker!

She's quick and she loves to get into the cabinets -- especially the one with tupperware inside. She's been known to stash toys in the dishwasher and the other day when she scooted around when Cindy had the fridge open, she saw what was inside and proclaimed "wow!"

2008 Olympics

Lila stayed up late to catch the opening ceremony of the 2008 Olympics. What a show! Lila was super excited to see all the festivities and made us laugh like crazy in the process. Cindy caught her reaction on video.

Roadtrip to Tomales Bay

We decided to get out of dodge for the day and took a roadtrip up to Tomales Bay!

We stopped for lunch in Petaluma and then drove out to Hog Island Oyster Company and gorged on BBQ oysters! They were so good, we decided to bring back 100 oysters and to a BBQ back at the house on Sunday.

Somewhere along the way, we stopped at a Home Depot and bought a couple of security mini-scopes (the kind you put in your door to see who's knocking) to see if we could get some cool fish-eye shots. Not bad for $8!

Gilles Visit!

We were totally surprised today from a call from Brian to let us know that Gilles, his wife Sylvie, daughter Camille and father Raymond were in town from Paris. Gilles was a french exchange student who stayed with our family in 1988. We have kept in contact ever since. The last time we saw them was when Sean and Cindy visited Gilles and his family in Paris 4 years ago.

Oakland Zoo!

Headed out for an adventure today at the Oakland Zoo with Dave, Amy, Lizzie and Rachel! Monkeys and Giraffes were Lila's favorites. Rachel liked the bugs and goats!
