Well its hard to believe that only days ago i was knee deep in some of the most amazing electronic dance music that the world has to give. Detroit rolled out the red carpet in everyway. From Detroit’s up and comers, Kyle Hall and Omar S to veterans Kevin Saunderson and Carl Craig, from festival to afterhours Detroit was the place to get your electronic groove on. Ghostly’s Ten Year spectacular and Jeff Mills alien mixology had us feeling right every night we were there. When Loco Dice and Luciano closed out Sunday night I thought I died and went to Ibizia. We even found time to get schooled at the Motown Museum. We were a little sad to hear that Submerge Records and The Techno Museum being forced out of there digs but we hope the motor city will support these cornerstones of techno and keep the vibe alive, and with Carl Craig heading up the festival direction next year, it should give us another reason to spend another Memorial Day Weekend in Detroit!

So we managed to hit the Ghostly 10 Year Anniversary and what a jam. Tycho really had us entranced with beautiful blissed out beat laden melodies. Then we were truly honored with live performance by Telefon Tel Aviv. This amazing performance moved something inside of everyone there. With the absence of partner Charlie Cooper this it really struck a chord in all of us but I am totally thankful that Joshua Eustis was able to perform for us and close out the night of my favorite label.

Ok so detroit movement festival is on fire heidi, steve bug, nikola baytala and an amazing ambient live jam by the sight below! What a day so far still up adam beyer, francious k, mike huckaby and carl cox. And then we are off to the ghostly 10 year anniversary!!!

Detroit After Parties

Ok like I said there are enough after parties in Detroit that you can shake your stick and still get funky. My personal favorite is getting down with The Wizard aka Jeff Mills at Homecoming Saturday night plus Underground Resistance and Spectral will both be showing out. If hitting the boat is your thing then you are not gonna want to miss the official DEMF I’m on a boat after party with Luciano vs Loco Dice, Carl Craig, Dixon wow. Friday night were kickin it at Ghostly’s Ten Year Anniversary Party, with live performances by Telefon Tel Aviv, Michna, Deastro, we are definitely looking forward. Then of course the legendary Memorial Day Need I say More IV party at the old miami is always chock full of tasty surprises and worth the 6am wake up call! If you haven’t got your demf ticket get em fast there $50 for the weekend, $60 at the gate!

Adam Beyer and Marco Carola - So if you haven’t heard of Adam Beyer you have been under a rock, this Drum Code label head hailing from Sweden will show you just what you’ve been missing in techno! His Italian counter part Marco Carola has been heard all over the world. With the megatechnohit Bloody Cash on Plus8 you’ll want to cash in on a piece of this.

Loco Dice vs Luciano - Ok I must confess sadly i missed these nouveau techno mavens in Miami and i regret it everyday, don't make the same mistakes I did, this will be monumentally deep techno action.

Last Chance for romance

Ok folks well it was a crazed last day in Miami. We got a chance to meet up with Stryke and took us out for some Argetinian food and we were serenaded by everybody in the restaurant. We also got to check out his studio and he has some crazy mixes coming out for Danny Howell's soon, so hopefully you'll catch some on Ego Killer TV. Then I headed up to Sunday School to get my wristband and the place was decked to the tee's couches outside and school buses parked but alas it was just picking up and I new I would have to leave in the morning, so I ran into the fifibear photogs and we headed down to the fools good party and caught treasure fingers and steve aoki banging it out to sweaty masses. After that Tina and Arhlene wanted me to go to the Carry On event, but alas sunday was a day of travel and as much as i wanted to go till the break of dawn, driving with 0 sleep is not a good thing. However we did stop at an amazing record store called radioactive records and spent the remainder of the months grocery $ on records cause that is how we roll here at jaxlore, food or vinyl you know the answer. this years wmc was no less spectacular then the last and the only the only reason i am not sad is I know detroit is right around the corner!

Friday Night Fever

ok so after a much needed disco nap, we tried to go see Utada, a Japenese popstar but the line was around the block for her album release party and we were hungry, so down to The Guru for another fantastic Indian cuisine experience. Then back to the condo and off to AM Only at the Karu and Y. We got there and it was jumpin, the sound in that club and the lights and everything else was out of this world. First Donald Glaude & Richard Vission were pumping in the NY house style and Donald's shouts gotta an already crazed crowd jumping, then Joachim Garraud & Robbie Rivera were rockin and Joachim whipped out the keytar and started playing the Robin S Show me love riff and damn if where just weren't talking about that a few hours before. Really the party there was just getting started and for the real down and dirty (Josh Wink and Steve Bug) you had to be there @ 6am). We wanted to stay but we had go see Audion at the Spectral Losing It party and we were not disappointed. We got there about 3:30a after several wrong turns downtown and quite the unscenic tour. Once inside all was right with the universe when Audion started throwing down. He played a whole set of unreleased tunes, and I tell you the man we know as Matthew Dear has not skipped a beat, he live Audion persona killed it and when 5am came we knew techno was alive and well and living in the front bedroom.

Worth it!

Ok folks so it was worth the wait. We saw Patrice Baumel and Lee Curtis and they rocked it. The rooftop was amazing there was a clear view of miami beach and pumping sounds it was quite the sunset. Then we headed downtown the Resolute party was going off Guy Gerber really rocked it live stylee, while Derek Plaslaiko tore it up in the other room, the we hoofed down the Karu & Y and watching the MINUS magic happened my man Troy Pierce was in full swing, but we where on fumes so we decided to head back, but not before seeing Sam from Ghostly, who told us there will be some new audion material tomorrow night! So Spectral Losing it and the AM Only party, we've got a full night ahead of us tomorrow!

Crucial decision

First off Stryke rocked it! It was a small intimate venue called love hate and it had a nice vibe. We made it to the la Sandwicherie and had an insane sub on that wonderful french bread. Today we got up had a smoothie and have mosied on down to Lincoln road and are waiting in line for the get physical rooftop party and its been about at least an hour so we've been groovin around Lincoln so we hope will make it in in a bit if not we might head on down to the Chelsea for some free techno. Decisions decisions.

ok a few more shows and some updates to add, first it appears that the playground event has been canceled, so if you sniff around you might see some info about rsvp info on the net about the rooftop party. On another note is appears we have a Stryke sighting at the Proton Radio party Wednesday night along side Open Cloud and Tom Budden at Love\Hate. Damn and if there wasn't enough going on Thursday there appears to be a Drum Code party at Glass. I tell you its tough love on Thursday and Friday, you really have to make some choices. But alas Dr.Strangelove with video recorder in hand and blog on my mind will making sure your connected even if you can't make it down this year.

Hocus Focus WMC Pt3

Ok so you know those ghostly folks have a label called spectral um maybe you've heard of it, a certain Audion is going to through down live at Spectrals' Losing It party and if you have never seen Audion live then you don't know what your missing, um btw seth troxler and lee curtiss are also visiting...nice thats friday the 27th @ Grass. Lets rewind a day or two to Wednesday the 25th, because the Electric Pickle will be in full swing with Leftroom and Wolf + Lamb turing it out Matt Tolfrey is sure to bring smiles to all the boys and girls, along with Lee Curtiss and Droog of course Wolf+Lamb (djs). Ok and just when you thought you had it all planned out Bpitch Control decided to through its 10th Birthday in Miami @ The Awarehouse. Ellen Allien, Sascha Funke and Thomas Muller are going to get all berlinesque on you Saturday night the 28th. Whew man i have to catch my breath and I havent even mentioned Ultra, you'll have to check that one yourself ;)
Ok I must mention a few free parties that caught my eye the Pornograph folks are kicking it on Tuesday with a nice lineup at the Chesterfield, you catch Punisher there, then on Wednesday, Craze, Shy FX, Drop the lime are kickin in free-style at the White Room and Thursday Kyle Geiger, Marc Ashken and Teggno friends are kickin it at the Chelsea. I tell you its going to be insane. Keep yours eyes peeled for Ego Killer TV as we will be down there recording all the techno goodness! Stay tuned...detroits a coming!

WMC: Focus part 2

Ok its coming around the bend so you better get ready. Get your booty shorts out and your sun scream, some minimal shades and some comfy shoes, because fun in the techno sun will be the name of the game.

And the minimal groove will be thrown down with our friends at Resolute and Resident Adviser throwing an all out four alarm fire starting Thursday March 26th-27th at the White Room. There will be insane minimal folks from all over the land Onur Özer making his debut straight from Istanbul, then a WMC exclusive with Jeremy P. Caulfield will smack down his Dumb Unit and of course Mobilee mama Anja Schnieder as we all know from last year is the cat's meow. The list is quite hot so i must mention Guy Gerber and Guido Schnieder or also in it or I'd be remiss but check out the fill line up here for some 24 hours madness.

Now another sun burner for the week are those Bogolina boys have quite the ill communication coming to south beach. If you can get an rsvp to sunset session then more power to you because you know what will be going down that night. But not to worry Get Physical has a Play Ground in store for us on Saturday March 28th at Charcoal Studios. M.A.N.D.Y. vs Booka Shade will be throwin down the sound together, while Spectral guru Mathew Dear drop some translation on us. And of course what would a Get Physical party be with out the Italoboyz dropping by .

WMC: Focus Vol. 1

We are getting closer and closer to WMC 2009 and the parties are out of the woodworks this year. In fact there are so many great parties it's hard to keep up so over the next week we are going to Focus and list some of our favorite parties to get you pointed in the right direction for an insanely good time!

First up on the agenda is the folks at MADE Events. Every year these veteran promoters bring some of the finest events to Miami, and this year is no different. Thursday , March 26 the legendary MINUS folks are back at it again @ The Karu & Y Buddha Gardens. Teaming up with Made is ringmaster Richie Hawtin leading the way with techno cohorts Troy Pierce, Konrad Black, Gaiser (live) and other minus collaborators for a very special evening. For some sonic diversity check it as Made and AM Only get together for One Night Only March 27 at the Karu & Y. With DJ pairings you wont see again any time soon, Adam Beyer vs. Paco Osuna, Adultnapper vs. Mr. C, Josh Wink vs. Steve Bug, Loco Dice vs. Marco Carola, and many others the list goes on and on and on. And if you haven't heard already you need to ask somebody because Sunday School is back in session as this years degenerates take over at the Ice Palace. Made's party heard round the world, is the post party, to end all parties, in fact this Sunday School is so big its a whopping 24 hours starting Saturday Night. With Joris Voorn, Martin Landsky, Argy, Matthew Dear, Mathais Kaden, the list of folks has caused many to miss a Sunday flight out.
