RAPHAEL SAADIQ - The Way I See It (2009)

When was this album released? 2009? You got to be kidding me? This must be at least a record from the 50's or the 60's. Seriously, if you want to feel some old school instrumental jives with a real old school top notch Motown era RnB & Jazz flava, with a soulful Little Richard of the millennium singin songs on top of it, then you got to try this unbelievable album. Raphael Saadiq, the only who got himself venturing into the RnB of 50's and got back with a handful of songs fit for an album that was supposed to be released in 1954. I was awestruck and was a bit freaked out at first. Try and preview this album. You wont regret it. Long live motown. Long live the old school.

EMINEM - Relapse (2009)

This album was a very very hard album to find online. So if you want to download and preview this album before actually going out and buying the physical CD, which you will mostly do since the power of the brand itself was a hypnotizing cast of spell, from your favorite record store, I suggest you download this one quick before it became unavailable. This is Eminem's latest album, Relapse. I got to know there was another 2009 release called "After the Relapse". I did not have the time to find out whether it was an unreleased, b-sides or a mixtape release. The fight Eminem got in with Mariah Carey was a good move to promote the album. Both of them got "diss" songs on each others album prompting the fans to buy both of them to hear what they were actually saying about each other. The oldest trick in the book.

TWISTA - Category F5

I like Twista for his speed and smooth flow. This is his latest release called Category F5. Number one on the billboard Rap chart for quite some time now. The song "Fire", "Gotta Get Me One" and "Yellow Light" featuring R.Kelly were OK songs. Maybe I am looking for something in the vein of that song which he sang with Faith Evans for that Coach Carter movie. I really loved the beat. Some of the songs in this album were kind of monotonous like "Misunderstood". Download this album if you love his rap style but if you are hoping for memorable poppish beats like "Hope", you will be dissapointed. Still a good rap album though. Just not my cup of tea.

ROB THOMAS - Cradle Song (2009)

Hello there Mr. Rob Thomas. It has been a while since we saw this guy with a new album. Thus here is his latest album called Cradlesong. The country influenced title track was ok but I am expecting more out of him though. A mellow number but highly potential to be a sentimental classic. The introduction in "Fire on the Mountain" got some folky, navajo chant-esque and tribal feel before bursting into its heavy rock mode for the chorus. Too repetetive for me. "Hard On You" and "Still Aint Over You" were OK songs but it failed to register into my head. The only song that I can put into my listenable list was the song "Someday". Beautiful lyric about separation that everybody can relate to if you are going through a divorce or something. It is a good album in its own league but you will have to really sink into the album a couple or more of times before the songs can really register. I like "Someday" though, very much.

LADY GAGA - The Fame (2009)

Lady Gaga is here. What kind of music is this? Electronic pop? Techno fusion? Each and every song in this album is danceable as hell and were filled with weird electronic and futuristic noises. You know, like when you watch some shows from the 70's, they would imagine people from the future would all listen to music like this. And here it is. The futchah! I am not really a fan of this type of music but i really enjoyed some of the songs like "Brown Eyes".

CIARA - Fantasy Ride (2009)

Ciara's third album is here. First of all I need to say that the first single "Love Sex Magic" featuring Mr. Sexyback, Justin Timberlake, is one hot party track. Just could not help but letting your flow loose on the dancefloor. The bass was phat and bumpy. The chorus was a definite hooker. No pun intended. The song "Turntables" featuring Chris Brown was listenable although it was a bit confusing at first. "Never Ever" featuring Young Jeezy was a very sweet listenable song with a very memorizable melodies that you will definitely find relaxing enough to sleep to. Even the ridiculous barks of Young Jeezy failed to ruin it. Try this album. I hate the cover though. Shes trying to be Cat Woman now?

PLEASURE P - The Introduction of Marcus Cooper (2009)

What can i say? Got this album from the Rapvets. Holla. Pleasure P has a smooth vocals and me likey. If you fail to recognize this young lad, Pleasure P first started singin as one fourth of the very successful RnB Hip Hop group Pretty Ricky before embarking on a solo carrier in 2007 and The Introduction of Marcus Cooper is his twelve tracker debut album. Well, if you miss Pretty Ricky, you might want to get this album since it got its party beats trademark all over the place.

I love the song "Brithday Suit" and "Dream in The Air". It got the pop and sentimental feelings in it and it will definitely be in my heavy rotation list. You will definitely love "Your Love" and "Let Me" if you are into the heart melting slow flicks. The only problem i have with this album is the sometime nasal voice of pleasure P. Try listen to "The Illusion". Pleasure P earned its maturity and it was showcased through this album though he got to get rid of that irritating nasal voice. My cup of tea.

DEMI LOVATO - Here We Go Again (2009)

This one jumped straight up to number one in the Billboard 200 chart knocking out Daughtry. Demi Lovato's first single "Here We Go Again" is the typical Disney pop rock product in the line of Hillary Duff, Miley Cyrus, since Lovato herself was best known for her role in Disney Channel original movie Camp Rock with the Jonas Brothers. There is also bit of Avril Lavigne here and there. Since the success of Avril, no wonder Disney have been investing in these chick rock albums since Hillary Duff's debut. Here We Go Again is her second album after the very successful debut "Dont Forget" in 2008. This one will appeal to the teenagers.

WILL DOWNING - Classique (2009)

I have to admit that I am not really familiar with Will Downing even though he has been releasing albums since 1989. Classique is his latest offering. I do not which one should I recommend, His unique baritone vocals or the music on his songs but if it were up to me, i have to opt for the latter since I am not really a fan of his vocals. The singing was moderately mediocre to me, nothing impressive there thus leading me to believe that it was the music that make this album a big of a deal. Live instruments and percussion, varying from the old school RnB to Jazz to those typical Quiet Storm stuff here and there. Vocal wise? Just not my cup of tea.

DAUGHTRY - Leave This Town (2009)

Number one in the Billboard's 200 chart. This is the band's second album and yes despite the lead singer is Chris Daughtry of the American Idol fame, this is a five piece rock band with the name Daughtry. When I first started to feast my ears to the album, it was with the song "Ghost Of Me". Catchy and poppish hook, angry but listenable and it showcased Daughtry's powerful vocals touching the high notes with out any problem. Definitely a friend to the radios. "Open Up Your Eyes" and "Traffic Light" started with a clean guitar riffing before bursting into a catchy and strong chorus.

All I can say is that if you like good and solid rock album with poppish hooks then this album is for you. All 19 tracks were meant to showcase Daughtry's powerful vocals. If you are looking for a guitar hero type rock like those bands we used to have from the good ol' 80's, this album is not for you. Makes me wonder, is this a real rock band or just Chris Daughtry and his back up band?

CHICO DEBARGE - Addiction (2009)

This is Chico Debarge's sixth album and it's called Addiction. If you like Chico's brand of sexy and silky smooth voice, I am very sure that you will fall in love with this album. All 15 tracks in it too. Always a prolific writer, that husky vocal tone of Debarge as heavily featured in songs like "Oh N0", "She Loves Me" and "I Want You" will surely melt the hearts and souls of every female creature on this good earth. Although it was quite surprising that I have found a few vocal glitches here and there. Like in "She Loves Me", it's quite funny to listen to Debarge missing hitting a high falsetto note in one particular part in that song. It sure ruined my evening. Musically this album is an excellent composition. You will find a few jazz here and there. Over all it is still a good album. Well, at least musically for me. Apart from that, its just not my cup of tea.

ANTHONY HAMILTON - The Point Of It All (2009)

I got this one from Rapgodfathers. Big up to the nice people there for this album. I bet most of you will love this album. 14 tracks filled with soulful vocalizations. Anthony Hamilton is no rookie with his powerful rough and tough voice with crazy skills on the microphone.

You will love the soulful tracks in the likes of "Please Stay" showcasing Hamilton's powerful vocals and the bluesy "Prayin For You/Superman" as a tribute to the old school part dance hall and part swingin blues jam on the keys. "Fine Again" is purely a fine gospel number and "I Did It For Sho" is a nice laid back cute jazz tune.

All I can say is that you will find this album heavily influnced with gospel. For those who love a complete evolutionized from roots to the newer than new styles of RnB, than this album is for you. Although I am not a fan of Hamiltons but I still think this album is worth a try. Still not my cup of tea though.

PLAIN WHITE T'S - Big Bad World (2008)

The only reason i put this album here in the first place was because I am currently hooked up with their 2008 single "1234". The song was one of the sweetest song i have ever heard. Try and sing this song to your girlfriend or your wife if yr married, on a nice valentine evening or on your wedding day, I bet 100 bucks that she will cry her eyes out. I am not really a fan of Plain White T's but "1234" may be a view changing song if not life changing. Their second single "Natural Disaster" was a good rock song too. You will definitely love this one. If you like Dashboard Confessional then this album was definitely made for you.

JEREMIH - Jeremih (2009)

I got this one from Rapvet. A shout out to them for this album. Filled with club anthems that you may like. There is a little bit of Chris Brown and a bit of a younger version of Michael Jackson here and there for example in "Starting All Over". "Break Up to Make Up"sounds a bit like Sean Kingston singing without the silly patois. If you dont believe me, try and give this one a try. Jeremih's vocal is still far from impressive with a few glitches here and there and not to mention the lack of soul but a few more years of maturity, i bet this young man can provide us with a good vocal performence. It is a decent debut album so to speak.

GINUWINE - A Man's Thoughts (2009)

This is the latest Ginuwine's album, a Man's Thoughts. Since I am still high on Joe's latest release I have to say that the yardstick for a good smooth neo soul and RnB album would be of his in comparison. So what about this one? This album contains 15 tracks that will and shall make you bounce. Ginuwine's vocals and tone are digestible I guess. Most of the songs are modern and loop oriented which is not my cup of tea.

If you like ballads like moi, you will enjoy tracks like "When Im Mad" and the chocolate-esque "Touch Me" and "Orchestra" which is quite a hooker. Meanwhile the party song "Get Involved" featuring Timbaland and Missy Elliot is a hot party track filled with Timbaland's signature beat. All I can say that this album is a good and bouncy album. A good soundtrack for a chill party by the beach. Modern RnB enthusiasts, this one is for you.

MAXWELL - Black Summers Night (2009)

Here is Maxwell's newest album BLACKSummers Night. I guess we shall groove in some Neo Soul and RnB releases for the next couple of downloads. There are a couple of very good songs in this album. Although I am not really a fan of Maxwell's voice but strong swinging ballad hooks in "Fistfull of Tears" and crunchy falsetto jam song like "Help Somebody" really pushed forward his tone a bit, although I am still far from impressed. Maybe I am still high with Joe's Signature album. But I bet most of you out there will love this album. It didnt jump straight to number one on the Billboard's RnB Hip Hop album chart for nothing. It was just not my cup of tea.

JOE - Signature (2009)

You gotta love this guy and this is his latest album. What do you expect from Joe? I do not know about you but I am into his crazy ballad numbers and most of the songs in this album are slow numbers. "Worst Case Scenario" is one of the best ballad number, among other incredible numbers, in this album, easy to digest and the melody is just staggeringly relaxing. The same goes to "Wanna Be Your Lover" and "Very Special Friend". Joe's voice never changed, smooth and silky. Silky smooth. This is with out any shadow of a doubt another incredible RnB masterpiece. Recommended.

WAYNE BRADY - A Long Time Coming (2008)

This is highly recommended if you like traditional RnB. The best album in 2008 if you ask me. Everybody knows Wayne Brady from the infamous Whose Line Is It Anyway improve show and everybody who used to watch that show would know that Brady got a very wonderful voice. This album is a damn must. He was nominated for Grammy for the best traditional vocal RnB performance for his Sam Cooke cover A Change Is Gonna Come.

Being a long time fan, I was certainly amazed and to another certain extent stunned by his sometime angelic and sometime sexy voice. The bumpy and sexy, "Back In The Day" (which is my favorite song on the album) would just wanna make you strip and have sex. Try and give this album a proper listen, you wont regret it.

BLACK EYED PEAS - The E.N.D (2009)

Do you know how hard it is to get this album? Here it is the latest, long awaited and much anticipated new Black Eyed Peas album. The E.N.D stands for The Energy Never Dies. If that was suppose to be a hint for this album to the last album, nobody knows. After a few years on studio album hiatus to provide room for each and everybody's solo albums (each member got one album out with Fergie's being the most successful), they once again re-united for another killer album filled with their signature party tracks thanks to the genius mind of Will.I.Am, although it came out with a very very ugly cover. Give this one a try.

GREEN DAY - American Idiot (2004)

The only reason why am I putting this 2004 album is because it was so hard for me to get this album on the net when I finally decided that it was the time for me to try and give this album a proper listening. Green Day had just released their 2009 album titled 21st Century Breakdown a couple of months ago by the way and I think I shall wait for another couple more years before I give that one a try.

After wimping out with a couple of "mature" albums, it was a relief to see this most popular punk rock band on the planet doing the hard political stuff again. Although Wake Me Up When September Ends was the typical ballad following the Good Riddance (time of your life) formula and I have to admit that the song was a very good, radio friendly and listenable song.

One thing for sure, without Green Day and Offspring, MTV pop punk bands in the likes of Good Charlotte, Sum 41 and Simple Plan would still be in their respective garages playing to the ears of their moms and dads.

MADONNA - Superpop (2009)

If Wacko Jacko was and to a certain extent, still is the ultimate and penultimate King of Pop, would it be an understatement if I say that Madonna would his rightful queen? I bet the world would mourn as much as they mourned for the late Micheal Jackson if this lady dies. This is her latest album and it is worth a try if you like her previous Hard Candy. I am not really a fan but for an old queen, she still got those chops and a nice ass.

Darn! First and foremost I would like apologize for not updating this blog. The last introductory post was made somewhere in May and that was supposed to be the debut post that would start things off with Kedai Mendownload 2009.
