Low Street Buildings Bundle released -- 30mm Papercraft Models

This is 30mm-scale terrain for wargaming, roleplaying games, miniature dioramas, skirmish games, model railroads, class projects or just for fun. Assembly is quick and easy, requiring only 6 sheets of cardstock, a sharp hobby knife and ordinary paper glue.

This bundle includes two distinct models: the Curiosity Shop (the squatter of the buildings) and the Tenement (the taller building). The Curiosity Shop also includes an outhouse, and the Tenement can be easily converted into a shorter two-story version.

HEY, THESE LOOK FAMILIAR: They should! The Curiosity Shop is based on the Guild Hall model (available separately). The Tenement is based on the Tall Hostel (available separately). But each of these models is unique, offering something that the others don't. You'll find new textures and color schemes on each model, while you can easily swap parts between similar designs. This bundle is the perfect way to pick up two versatile designs and expand your collection for a great price.

These models offer lots of customization options! They're actually many models in one!

This Curiosity Shop and Tenement each feature multi-layered PDFs that let you customize the look of your model before printing. This means you can print each model many times, each with a unique appearance. These will be a great addition to any street scene. Just mix the different texture combinations and choose different facings when placing these models along your streets, and you'll be well on your way to populating an entire town with a genuinely medieval jumbled appearance. Scatter around several of your custom creations to serve as urban houses, crowded taverns, dubious hostels, restaurants, small shops, government offices or many other sorts of buildings.

You may also combine this model with other papercraft models to form your own buildings! With a little imagination, you can take just about any of my papercraft models and attach them to others. Models such as the Quaint House and Rustic Cabin can be added as extensions on most of my larger models. To add greater height to your town layout, you might choose one of the taller models such as the Stone Tower or West Gate. With just a few models, you'll have countless great-looking options for your town layout.

QUICK AND EASY SCENERY: Simple assembly instructions are provided, including tips and advice for printing at various popular gaming and model railroad scales. One of the great things about papercraft models is that they can be printed at any popular gaming scale quite easily, so this model can be used for 28mm, 25mm, 20mm, 15mm scale and smaller. These files are 200dpi, which will look great when printed at full size without requiring large file sizes. You'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0 or later in order to use them, and the multiple layers may take additional time to render, so please be patient while your images load onto the screen.

MULTI-LAYERED FILES: The PDFs in this set are multi-layered and contain a variety of surface textures and external features that you can customize with the click of your mouse. You can easily add or remove layers of weathering and additional details, including doors, windows, lamps, and more.

SINGLE-LAYERED FILES: For your printing convenience, this bundle includes a full set of single-layered PDFs. You get one full set of single-layered files for the Curiosity Shop, and two sets for the Tenement (a two-story version and a three-story version).

DIMENSIONS: The Curiosity Shop has a footprint of 5.8" x 3.5" and stands approximately 4.5" tall, not including the chimney. The Tenement has a footprint of 3.25" x 2.6" and stands approximately 7.8" tall, not including the chimney.

CONTENTS: The Curiosity Shop includes, walls, a roof, roof window dormers, chimney, several crates, a ground tile, and a free-standing outhouse. The Tenement features walls, a roof, a wall dormer, chimney and ground tile.

For people that aren't familiar with Dilly Green Bean Games, we are a small publishing company that focuses on affordable, fun, and LOADED games. We have put out classics like Guardian Universe Core Fuzion (with an afterward by Kevin Eastman) and Xandoria Saga Collection. Our house system The Basic System (TBS) was rated 5 stars on the old Gaming Report. We have been nominated for INDY RPG awards and this past year we were nominated for an ENnie by our fans. In the recent months we have been releasing support material for our Guardian Universe CST line, the popular Chronicle 001 and 002 sci-fi mecha/alien games and the line of mini-games for the iNDi RPG mini-game-a-thon.

Genesai are the direct result of demonic outsiders mating with angelic outsiders in defiance of all that both sides of the eternal conflict between good and evil consider inviolate. In other worlds and other planes of existence this might be all but unthinkable but the nature of Abaddon as a planar ‘trap’ throws these opposites together far more often than in other places and whatever else there might be between the agents of good and evil they at least have a commonality as outsiders and, to an extent, can become stuck, mired in Abaddon as much as any other planar traveler. Outcasts from the moment they are born the Genesai are almost always abandoned by their parents immediately following their birth, either to be raised by mortals who take pity on the child, to perish in the wilderness or – very rarely – to be raised by sympathetic animals such as wolves.

Black & White Icons for Hexographer or any hex map

One of the requests I've had for Hexographer is to do an alternate set of icons for black and white maps. Here's a first cut of that. If you have the pro version of Hexographer, you can replace the existing terrain icons with this set or add new terrain using the new icons. This feature isn't in the free version, but the pro version is a pretty good value I hope.

Also the icons are simple 300x300 pixel transparent PNG images. You're free to use them with other software or even with any image editor to create maps from scratch.

Daring Entertainment: 2010 Publishing Plans

Happy New Year! With a little down time from the day job, I thought I’d take today and post an update on our 2010 publishing plans.

The Armageddon Virus/War of the Dead: The zombie outbreak setting is now in full production for 2010, starting off with The Armageddon Virus.

The Armageddon Virus is a 52-week adventure/campaign series for Savage Worlds, starting the player characters at ground-zero of the first stages of the outbreak of Walking Dead. Designed to be an ongoing campaign, with a new part released every Monday, this series will take player-characters through the first encounters with the walking dead, providing plenty of survivor horror, mystery, and conspiracy. Written as 10-12 page adventures for $2.99 each, the first adventure will also contain Gamemaster information on the various types of zombies, background information, and new Edges and Hindrances. The series will be written as 4 Chapters, each one 13-Adventures (roughly 3 months) long, and concluding with a series of global events that set the stage for the War of the Dead follow-up.

War of the Dead will be the first setting book for the zombie outbreak. Taking place after The Armageddon Virus, it drops the characters into a world where governments have fallen, cities have become survivor kingdoms, and the most dangerous threat is not just the Walking Dead . . . but fellow man.

It all begins in June 2010! The Armageddon Virus will be available in PDF format exclusively through RPGNow.com. Each 13-adventure chapter will be uploaded all at once with an automated release date every Monday. We’ll also be offering a discounted subscription service for each 13-adventure package.

(Production Note: The first 13-adventure chapter is nearly finished and playtested.)

The Daring Action Block also continues this summer for Savage Worlds, with the first episode of the GET Into Action ongoing series launching in June 2010. Season 1 launches as the player-characters are assigned to a mission that sees them ultimately involved in a raid against a major STORM base, where they first encounter both Lord Tempest and his second-in-command. Although each episode is self-contained (just like the cartoons of the old days), several subplots introduced in the first couple of adventures will carry on throughout the 1st Season, leading into an epic clash between Global Elite Tactical and STORM in an American city in the season finale!

In addition to GET Into Action, Metabots and Ecto-Hunters will also debut. I can’t say much about those 2 series just yet, as the co-designers and head writers for them are still working hard on getting the Season 1 storylines established. But both will definitely be launching in late Summer and Fall of 2010.

(Production Note: The first 3 adventures for GET Into Action are finished and in playtesting.)

Rounding out the Daring Action Block for 2010 is the upcoming GET Into Battle line. GET Into Battle will include collections of figure-flats, 3d cardstock vehicles, and location tiles. The cardstock miniatures can be used for normal GET Into Action play, or for the GET Into Battle scenarios we’ll be publishing for Pinnacle Entertainment’s Showdown rules.

And finally, 2010 will see the release of Daring Supers, updates to the Dawn of Legends setting, and an ongoing campaign series. Those 3 items I’ll talk more about later in the year, as they are deep in playtesting at the moment, and I don’t want to say anything that might be changed by the time playtesting is finished!

Second Look: Arcane Trickster

The Arcane Trickster is my favourite class. It is the ideal blend of rogue and wizard. It is so popular that it was moved into the OGL (the core books) when the system upgraded to 3.5. That allowed this book could be produced. Second Look: Arcane Trickster re-writes the Arcane Trickster into three new 20 level classes. Each focuses on a different element.

The Arcane Trickster of Ritual focuses on spellcasting and is most like the original. The Arcane Trickster of Deed focuses on skills and the sneak attack skill while sacrificing some spellcasting. The Arcane Trickster of Steel focuses on combat, sacrificing some skill and spellcasting ability for combat prowess. All the versions of this class have some spellcasting ability, access to the signature ranged legerdemain ability and the trapfinding ability.

This 38 page book includes 7 new prestige classes. Each of the classes and prestige classes include their epic progressions. There are 17 new feats geared for the arcane trickster and three new spells. Finally there are rules clarifying bonus spells and taking levels the four arcane trickster classes/prestige classes (go ahead!). A handful of NPCs and a short story rounds out this manual.

Raging Heroes' brand new Lord Vampire concept

Here is the latest image of Raging Heroes next miniature. It is a huge Lord Vampire who, like the Heroine Asharah, will also be usable as a Dark Elf War Lord or as a Demon Lord. It will be available in both 28 and 54 mm. This mini will be very large, but that's not all: it has been designed so that the 54 mm version can be used in 28 mm armies as a huge Demon, a Dark Elf God, or a War God.

To develop this concept, Raging Heroes teamed up with Bertand Benoit, concept artist and illustrator for Helldorado, McVey Miniatures, Mortebrume, Alkemy, etc. This collaboration has been a joy, and other projects are already in the works …

This character is the first in Raging Heroes' new series called Gods of War. The Gods of War series is designed to provide you with exceptionally large 28 mm heroes to lead your armies. And in most cases, the 54 mm version will also be designed to serve as a god or a giant creature in your 28 mm armies.

The coming weeks will bring a behind-the-scene look at this project, with new images featuring the Dark Elf and Demon alternative versions. The sculpting of this monster will begin in the first week of January and, for those in a hurry, will be available for pre-order as soon as it's done.

Army Builder 3.2b Released

Hello all, We've just released Army Builder 3.2b, a free update for anyone with an active Army Builder license (and also all users licensed for AB 3.2, even if your license has since expired). Click here to download and install the new release. Important changes in this release include:

Army Builder now respects the Windows "Set custom text size" feature in many of its controls. This means that if you tell Windows to show text at larger sizes than normal, text within Army Builder will now be larger too.
Mousing over a unit or item in the Available Units list or Roster tree will now display a tooltip containing information about that unit or item, instead of the general tooltip for the control.
If you try to reassign your license before the waiting period is up, a large prompt message now invites you to visit our web site and fill in a simple form to request a reassignment. This should make it easier to submit the required information and have your license reassigned quickly.
The minimum resolution checked for is now 800x550, to allow netbooks with very small resolutions to run Army Builder. The "Disable Resolution Check" menu item has been removed.
ABCreator no longer outputs some elements that were causing backwards compatability issues with previous versions of Army Builder.
Over 20 other bugs fixed - see the c:\ArmyBuilderEX\readme.txt file for more details.

RIP "Dr. Death" Steve Williams

Professional wrestler Steven Williams, who is better known to wrestling fans as “Dr Death” Steve Williams, has sadly passed away of throat cancer. According to reports at thewrestlingdaily.com, he was 49-years old.

In a blog that was posted on December 26th, Williams’ longtime friend Jim Ross asked Williams’ fans to keep him in their prayers, as his latest battle with cancer was proving to be a tough one. Williams began his wrestling career back in 1979.

Several pro wrestling personalities have been speaking about Williams on their Twitter accounts today including Kevin Nash, who said “My condolences go out to Dr Death (Steve Williams) family and friends. We lost a great one today!”
