In most cases the hair that regrows remains the same color that it was when it was last visible. For example, if the regrown hair was gray when it last stopped growing three years ago it will regrow as a gray hair; a black hair in the same situation, would regrow as a black hair. Although no clear statistical information is available, it appears that the state of the hair, at least as it relates to its melanin production, remains intact until such time as it strengthens and regrows. It is important to remember that for best results, the Nisim products should be used within five years of hair loss.

Thank you.

Johnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15787181671243373044noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7521783720693671170.post-50846688168544718332007-08-31T07:35:00.001-07:002007-09-10T12:25:51.047-07:00Follow your nose? What is the primary factor in determining which haircare product you purchase? In drugstores, salons and even at Beauty Industry Trade Shows, the most prevalent action in determining the value of a product is to open the bottle and sniff. Companies spend huge amounts of money on bottle selection, design, name selection, Logos, Formulating, testing, packaging, sizing, colors and advertising, yet it usually comes down to a sniff. Ironically, especially from a professional stylists' standpoint this should be one of the last or least important factors, as fragrance (and color) are usually the culprits should skin irritation develop. The bottom line is that the best cosmetic or beauty care product for you may not be the overly- scented, bright flourescent pink stuff that grabbed the attention of your eyes and nose.

Happy Shopping!

Johnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15787181671243373044noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7521783720693671170.post-43527624364414787642007-08-30T06:48:00.000-07:002007-08-30T07:10:42.401-07:00The Question Du' Jour is "What is the difference between Epilating and Depilating?"

A depilatory is a product or method of removing unwanted hair usually at or near the surface of the skin. Some peripheral hair growth may occur immediately surrounding the scar but you can generally count on hair not growing or regrowing on the scar tissue itself.

Thanks.

Johnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15787181671243373044noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7521783720693671170.post-33405215427328276302007-05-02T07:24:00.000-07:002007-05-02T08:05:10.773-07:00Summer and it's Effects on your Hair&ScalpWith the warmer weather we find ourselves spending more time outdoors, in the sun enjoying much longer daylight hours. Add to this the effects of swimming (pools or Ocean) and the drying effects on the hair and scalp can be significant. This effect is only compounded for those who chemically treat their hair. Some things to help minimize and protect your hair:

- Wash or thoroughly rinse off hair AND scalp after swimming
- Extra conditioning may be required
- Styling or Finishing products should provide UV protection
- If the scalp receives alot of sun (esp. if sun burned) do not apply products with high alcohol contents until the skin heals and becomes less sensitive.

Also remember that warmer weather causes excessive sweating and this should be remedied at your earliest convenience.

Enjoy the Summer!

Johnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15787181671243373044noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7521783720693671170.post-54125550608650801972007-02-13T06:00:00.000-08:002007-01-18T07:39:17.875-08:00Scalp Massage=Cheap, Effective and Natural Haircare. Many products marketed for hairloss related categories rely on chemical reactions to provide a "very important" function...........increased bloodflow. It is true that good bloodflow in the scalp is necessary for a healthy scalp and healthy hair growth, as this is the means by which required nutrients are supplied to follicle cells. A physiological response to Vasodilation( increased blood flow) is flushing or redness of the skin and this has become a marketing bonanza for many companies as it allows for proof of their products effectiveness by the fact that you can "see" or "feel" them working by the heat or redness generated by their use.

If you pinch or rub your skin you are causing increased blood flow activity and it is evidenced by short term redness. Using synthetic chemical irritants or even natural irritants such as hot pepper extracts (capsicum, jalapeno,...) causes short term redness and sometimes discomfort.

You are far better off getting into the habit of massaging your scalp daily, as a natural, inexpensive and effective means of ensuring proper and healthy bloodflow rather than chemically irritating the scalp. Regular scalp massage also helps to keep the Galea Aponeurotica ( a membrane between the skull and skin) more pliable and elastic as it tends to thicken and lose its elasticity as we age. This factor may also help in achieving better bloodflow.

Reguar scalp massage; something we can all do easily, quickly and may be our first form of defense regarding premature or genetic hairloss..........and it feels good too!

What have you got to lose?

Johnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15787181671243373044noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7521783720693671170.post-44369233127208088132006-12-19T07:28:00.000-08:002006-12-19T08:08:51.289-08:00HairCare Myths: Natural OilsOne of the most bizzare if not idiotic beliefs being propagated, particularly amongst "oldtimers" in the know, is that the scalp's "NATURAL OILS" are good for your hair and scalp so do not wash frequently as they will be cleaned away. I wonder if these same people extend this line of thought and practise to leaving the "NATURAL" excretions our skin produces throughout the rest of the body (how would you like to share a nice long elevator ride with them?). Perhaps even to the extent that one should wash your hands MAYBE once after a long weekend spent working in the garden-what's more natural than dirt? Wake up folks! The "natural oils" are sweat, sebum, oils, salt and accumulated airborne pollutanys and dirt. Generally one should follow the pattern that if the body is expelling something because it is useless or waste, don't keep it around as a momento.
I'm sure we have all felt the pruritus(itch) kick in while unable to wash your hair after an extended period (while camping?). This is your scalp telling you to remove the unwanted waste. Plus, how many out there find the whole oily, greasy and stringy hair look sexy?

Treat your hair and scalp with at LEAST the same attention and respect shown to the rest of your body. IF IT'S DIRTY WASH IT!

Johnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15787181671243373044noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7521783720693671170.post-24487003175534075552006-12-06T09:37:00.000-08:002006-12-06T12:53:26.625-08:00INTROHello to all.
