I'll have to help her open her presents, I'm sure, since I'm better at that than she is.
She and I hike together, we walk together, we play together, I just don't like to get too close to her when we're sleeping - a man needs his space, you know. But sometimes, when I'm too tired to care, she snuggles right into me, and I guess that's okay.
We spent the last week at Grandma's house - our people were diving in Honduras. We love going to Grandmas' because we get lots of love and lots of treats!
Abby especially loves the treats!

Thought I'd update you all with some photos taken since the end of last summer... Summer is just around the corner again, can't wait til they get the cover off my pool!Chuckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01937020492298115785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7456768.post-77857835928740243472007-08-10T06:42:00.000-07:002007-08-10T07:31:42.719-07:00Summer 2007Wow - what a summer for E.Dog - - just over two months ago, my people got me a dog, guess they figured I was mature enough to handle one now, even though I didn't ask for one. Her name is Abby, and she is fairly well trained, but some times we have trouble with her, as in she runs like crazy if she's off leash in the neighbourhood - so we have to keep a close eye on her.
She's been great on hikes though, and the other day she came upon a big bunch of deer and ran back to us as soon as she saw them - good Dog!

Abby seems really happy with us - we have even taken her on three road trips this summer. The first one was a trip to Kingston, where my people went diving. Poor girl, the whole time we were in the motel room, she was all worried, "oh, I'm getting left here, they're gonna leave us here..." I tried to tell her that everything was okay, but she was still worried, so I fell asleep. She was sure happy to see them again... see, Abby? Told ya! I can understand though, she's had some changes in her life, and we all work to make her comfortable and happy.
Road trip number two - we went to a cottage in Parry Sound with my Grandma, and my Uncle Tim and Aunt Mar. It was a blast! I jumped off the dock and swam the whole weekend, and Abby even came in the water sometimes too! She doesn't swim as well as I do, though. She was a good dog at the cottage, she stayed right with us the whole weekend! No running or anything! Good Abby!
The third road trip was a trip to Grandma's, for the annual Camp Grandma - my people call it Camp Mary, but I don't think I'm sposed to call her Mary... me and Abby had a good time there too, there were lots of people feeding us, and again, I was running and jumpting into the pool, and doing lots of swimming!
We even went for one of Uncle Tim's walks in Kingsville, and then stopped to see my other Grandma, and Uncle Sherwood for a visit. I got to see Bear, their dog - he's a good Dog too.

And so now, we are home for a long weekend in August hoping for good weather for the pool... Here are some shots from the summer so far:
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/__QCJzzWkFGE/Rrxuw8X6ZMI/AAAAAAAAAC4/XPfDHpEz5LA/s320/July+2007+dogs+and+whatnot+044.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5097070665395758274" /> This is me and Don with our new girl at Fort Henry in Kingston.

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/__QCJzzWkFGE/RrxvuMX6ZNI/AAAAAAAAADA/-oQ0xYr09Q4/s320/July+2007+dogs+and+whatnot+046.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5097071717662745810" /> Abby sure was tired after all that worrying in Kingston.

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/__QCJzzWkFGE/RrxwXMX6ZOI/AAAAAAAAADI/CmG-vaMJFe0/s320/July++aug+2007+dogs+and+camp+mary+034.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5097072422037382370" /> This is Don with Abby on the dock, with Tim returning from a sail.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/__QCJzzWkFGE/RrxxR8X6ZPI/AAAAAAAAADQ/MpFIA5bNkE4/s320/July++aug+2007+dogs+and+camp+mary+006.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5097073431354696946" /> Uuuuhh, Guys? Of course she was on sensory overload, taking in all the new sights and smells, so we decided against taking her to a conservation area that day. Instead, we took about 3 walks throughout the day, around our neighbourhood, repeating a couple of our usual paths for her to get familiar with some of the smells.

And then she hung out with us by the pool while we threw the ball in for Ender, she wasn't too keen on getting in the pool on sunday - and she seemed to really need close contact that day, so she spent most of her time right next to me, either following me, or getting petted. She is such a sweetheart!

We have discovered that she is a fairly skittish dog, and we have also discovered that after only a couple of hours with us, Ender is ready to defend her! There was a sound from the neighbour's yard that startled her - someone dragged a chair or something across their deck - and as she jumped and ran about 12 feet from the noise, big Ender came barreling over to the fence and proceeded to check things out - he didn't bark, but he was all in a huff, and certainly was interested to find out what startled her Abness... he normally doesn't give a crap about noises like that!

The two of them seem to be working out fine - they sniff each other now and then, and when ender is close to her face, he includes a couple of licks. The two of them were running through the green belt together - me on the end of her leash, as I'm not sure about her off leash skills yet, so, truthfully, the 3 of us were running around the greenbelt like big goofs - ender was off leash, so Don just got to sit back and laugh. She is so funny when she runs! Definately one of her mad lab moments, while Ender was his normal freaky nutbar self. We got a ball for her to play with while ender was jumping into the pool after his - and she was so goofy again! She loves to pounce after a bouncing ball, and after seeing her all goofy, Ender got in the mood too, and both of them ran a few mad lab/freaky nutbar laps around the yard!

Monday night, we introduced her to Dukie, another chocolate in the hood, and his people. She was VERY good - no jumping this time! But, as I mentioned, I think she was tired. She really liked Dukie though!

On sunday, our cat hissed at her, and she looked dejected for about half an hour, poor thing. But, Lucy has since warmed up to her! We spent some time together sunday, on the bed - just us three girls! We've had a chance to sit together, the three of us a few times now, with not much drama at all. Lucy is a notorious ninja - famous for threatening 4 leggers new to her territory. But Abby seems to have never encountered a ferocious feline in her life, and just patiently waits for Lucy to stop hissing or swatting, and she stays perfectly still. I think she will have the great and powerful ninja disarmed in a matter of days.

Tuesday night, being Dog night, we tood Ender and Abby to Claireville - and there, we tested her offleash skills - which, shall we say, are not quite mad skills. But there is hope that we can get her there. She is quite the treat hound, and as long as we have a treat to lure her with, she returns almost faithfully, and this was only day three, technically. It's like training a puppy again, and we have to remind ourselves of that.

We have talked trash for a long time about making a list of Mr Ender's vocabulary - and at this point, I wish we had done so. It's amazing that we take the training he's gone through, and the progress he's made for granted. But it's very apparent when we tell the dogs something quite clearly, and while Ender goes off and does whatever we've said, poor Abby leans in, looking deep into your eyes, as if to say, "sorry, what was that?" So we are starting almost from the beginning, getting her used to certain words that will someday become commands or common lingo for her.

I'm finishing this entry on wednesday night, which is basically her third day with us. She has done very well, even her itch seems to have subsided? The jump in the creek she had last night might have helped that. She has a wonderful personality, very calm, and inquisitive - she wants to learn. She and Ender do not seem to be best-friends-forever yet... when I come home from work, I find her coming downstairs from the bedroom, while Ender is still keeping his grumpy old man post on the couch, so he can yarp all day at passersby and that pesky mailman who comes every day.

We are thrilled to have Abby as part of our family, and we are doing our best to make sure she is happy with us. She seems to enjoy our company and praise, and I hope she is comfortable in our home. She really seemed to love dog night, that's every tuesday night, for the uninitiated.
We're very happy we were able to offer her a home. That said, i don't believe she would have had much of a hard time finding a home through the rescue group - because she really is lovely - but I'm really happy that she has found her way into our home. After only a handful of days, there is still a lot I don't know about her, but I'm looking forward to learning!
Time to get my chocolate butts to bed... this is BrownDogMama, signing off.
G'night.Chuckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01937020492298115785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7456768.post-14048883879844487742007-06-03T15:13:00.001-07:002007-06-03T15:19:50.910-07:00Abby!<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/__QCJzzWkFGE/RmM-Qye7SCI/AAAAAAAAACo/GTlUMwO8b1g/s320/june+2007+dogs+and+basement+015.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5071966063499626530" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/__QCJzzWkFGE/RmM-RSe7SDI/AAAAAAAAACw/Ku_K-DHvHFY/s320/june+2007+dogs+and+basement+010.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5071966072089561138" />
Today, we added another smiling chocolate lab to our family - her name is Abby, and she is very sweet. She and Ender are getting along well, and she has yet to truly encounter tha Luce, but we'll get to that when it happens! Lucy saw her once and hissed, but so far they have not had contact.
Abby is a rescue, and seems to be about the same age as Ender. On her first day with us, we've taken a walk through the green belt behind our house, and watched Ender fetch balls from the pool. Abby did get into the pool just up to her ankles, she stepped in on the first step, but I'm sure she and Ender will be swimming together in there before long.
Here are a couple of picture from day one.Chuckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01937020492298115785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7456768.post-1176341570189399382007-04-11T18:18:00.000-07:002007-04-11T18:35:34.826-07:00Found dogWe went to Claireville conservation area tonight for a hike- this is a regular spot for Mr E's recreation - there are lots of trails, and a good chance of spotting deer. Tonight, as we drove into the main gate, we noticed a dog, trotting along by himself. Upon closer inspection, we were both shocked to realize that this dog was incredibly emaciated, and looked to be a pup as well. He came to us immediately when we got out of the car, and was civil with Ender as well. We offered him some treats, and realized that we just couldn't leave him there. The snow is falling again tonight, and it's likely that the temperature will dip below zero again, and this fellow was in no shape to be left literally in the cold. Neither of us would have been able to leave him anyway.
We attempted to get him into the car, thinking we'd take him to the shelter, but he was not keen on getting in the car. Since we were not keen on forcing an unknown dog into our car, Don stayed with Ender and the found dog while I drove home for the crate, food, water, collar and leash.
With some food it was fairly easy to send him into the crate. He was not happy in there though. I don't think this poor dog has been in a house or a car, nor is he very familiar with other dogs, it seems. That said, it's hard to judge someone's personality if they are starving and just focused on finding food.
After we got home, an animal services officer came to pick him up - but he spent a good hour and a half with us. We kept feeding him pieces of food, little by little, so as not to shock his poor system. We took him for a walk on leash with Ender (he has clearly never been on a leash before)
We are travelling next week, so we'll have to call them once we are back to see what is to become of him. We may be able to give him a home, or at the very least find a home for him. But at least I feel that whatever happens next will be better than starving alone in a cold conservation area.
I must also mention that Brampton animal services has told me that they do not kill dogs who are not adopted - if he is deemed "adoptable" they will keep him for as long as it takes to find him a home. I'm not completely clear on whats involved in deeming him "adoptable" but we'll find out more after our trip, once they have assessed him.

Ender was very kind to him, although he did have to lay the smackdown a couple of times. Ahh, dominance!

I would include some pictures, but it seems that blogger is not in the mood to let me post pictures tonight?Chuckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01937020492298115785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7456768.post-1176298115881272722007-04-11T06:27:00.000-07:002007-04-11T06:28:35.893-07:00The great squirrel drop of 2007A very funny thing happened yesterday. Our charming boy Ender, enemy to squirrels everywhere, spotted one of the little fluffs of fur down by the ditch yesterday. (in the green belt behind our house) He of course took off running after the poor thing. I'm yelling, "Ender, you Fatty, you'll never catch him, GET BACK HERE NOW!!" while the squirrel runs up the slimmest, youngest tree in the vicinity, and scurries all the way to the top - the tippy, tippy top, if you catch my meaning. At this point, the tippy top starts bowing over, dangling said squirrel above ender. The poor squirrel is hanging on for dear life, but still slipping, slowly downwards towards the psycho dog awaiting him. Luckily, along with being psycho, Ender is not aware that the squirrel is being dangled above him like bait, he is still looking side to side wondering where that little fellow got to? After a valiant effort at hanging on, the squirrel loses grip and falls... falls, right on Ender! Ender is shocked, the squirrel is shocked, but the squirrel clearly recovers from shock quicker than Ender, who is still looking side to side, but quicker, now. Summer's back, and my pool is open. Well, it's been open as in, the winter cover's been off for almost a month now - but now it's warm enough for the two-leggers to work up the courage to go in.
Last night, I had my buddy Duke over for a swim, and for the first time ever he went in without being thrown in! Go Duke! He was swimming around like a champ! Of course, he isn't taking flying leaps into the pool yet, like yours truly, but with some coaching, I think I can get him there.
I'll have to coax my people to take a picture of us swimming together, I just know that will make a great shot.
My people tell me they are almost done all the loud, time consuming work they've been doing on the house. We've been living here one year, and the kitchen is done, a furnace and air conditioner (THANKYOU) have been installed, and they are just finishing up on the bathroom, at least that's what they tell me.
Soon, they say, we can all be lazy together, and swim for the whole summer.
Sounds good to me!

Soak up some sun!

E.DogChuckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01937020492298115785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7456768.post-1144250285197110912006-04-05T08:17:00.000-07:002006-04-12T13:27:56.926-07:00My Buddy's online now too!For those of you who just can't get enough of the chocolates, I can recommend a new blog from a fine chap down the street:
My buddy, Duke!

Another upstanding member of the lab community, and definately worth having a peek!

E.dogChuckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01937020492298115785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7456768.post-1144203710235825602006-04-04T19:13:00.000-07:002006-04-04T19:54:21.213-07:00Uhhh, there's something ELSE on my head now.
First it was the pineapple, now the twoleggers are getting festive and dressing me up as a "chocolate bunny." D&S (my people) even say that they prefer this beach for swimming over other beaches that don't even allow dogs (pff!)
The beach is LOOONG!!! Only the first portion of it is a dog beach (Beach #1) The others are just for lonely two leggers who don't have dogs yet. (poor lonely two leggers!)
On the dog beach though, we can all run off leash, and play in the water! It's great, every time I go there are lots of dogs to play with, and if I just want to hang out with my people, then I can do that too. It's a real family vacation getaway - for the WHOLE family (well, not the cats, but they don't like water anyway... and Ed keeps saying that I'm not part of his family, but that's a story for another day.)
Here are some fabulous shots of me at the pinery (for your viewing pleasure)

So, here's the link:

click here to check it out!

You can camp in the park, or it's even great as a day trip - pack a lunch, some dog treats, some watermelon (my favourite!) a tennis ball, and make a day of it!
Please DON'T forget your poop bags... nothing bothers those lonely dogless two leggers more than a fresh steaming heap! And it grosses most of us dogs out too!

Later,
E.DogChuckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01937020492298115785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7456768.post-1136515140936259192006-01-05T18:29:00.000-08:002006-01-08T12:41:46.006-08:00Ender's hoodFor a brown dog, I'm a tired guy these days... The holidays have just passed, and my people were around a LOT. I'm not complaining, but a dog needs his sleep you know...
We had lots of fun, and went hiking at Hilton falls at least twice.
The other dogs in the neighbourhood had their people home too, so we saw a lot of them.
I'm loving this new neighbourhood - there are so many dogs! We've got Aragon (yellow lab)next door, Buzz (fuzzy white dog) up the court, Duke (chocolate rocks!) down the street; Fendi (german shepherd) we meet in the park; Sadie (sweetie-girl black lab) runs alongside Bob's bike through the parks; Gracie (yellow lab, another sweetie, I do love the ladies!); Eena's on the corner of the park (hound, another cutie!)Buddy (yellow lab) on the street across the park; Zaire (grey hound) also across the park... and those just the ones whose names I can remember... there are so many more!
It's great to get outside in the winter. Most of the day, I'm stuck inside the house with two cats (one of whom I'm convinced is trying to kill me - I'm on to you Ed!) and they are not much fun.
See you around!
E.DogChuckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01937020492298115785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7456768.post-1122576358477758492005-07-28T11:40:00.000-07:002005-07-28T11:45:58.483-07:00SummertimeI must admit, this has not been the most exciting summer for me. We moved to a new house, and my people have been constantly building, painting, tearing things down and building things up, since we moved in! At least the new house has a pool - geesh! I do really like my pool. It's a big concrete pool with steps for me to climb in and out. But I still use the ladder sometimes, because I can!
Our friends who lost Squirt earlier this summer have a new dog now, his name is Buddy. He seems smart, but I don't play with him much... he's only 8 weeks old right now. Once he grows up, I think he'll be a good friend, but I still miss Squirt - no one plays the way Squirt did!
Last night on a walk, I met up with two other labs, one of them was from the same breeder I came from - Allsport labs in guelph. We Allsport labs are good looking if I may say so myself!
This weekend, we are going to Grandma's for the second annual Camp Mary weekend. (that's my grandma's name!) I can't wait - I just hope the boys leave those water guns alone this year!Chuckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01937020492298115785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7456768.post-1117641980124617802005-06-01T08:50:00.000-07:002005-06-01T09:06:20.156-07:00Squirt Stanley, Esq.My very best friend, Squirt, died last week. I am really going to miss him - we had so much fun together. We would go for hikes together, and wrestle, and he did hump me a lot, but I'll even miss that!
We had just celebrated his birthday with a really great hike. That day, there was a mean dog that barked at Squirt, but I ran up to defend him, cuz that's what buddies do! Squirt even came to visit me at my new house, although I was not able to talk him into swimming in my new pool. Instead, he "saved" me every time I got out of the pool!
Squirt's family gave him a great life, and I know he loved them a lot - I also know they will miss him a lot. We are all lucky to have known Squirt, and I felt especially lucky to have him as my friend.

Thanks for everything, little Buddy.Chuckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01937020492298115785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7456768.post-1109470486310569082005-02-26T18:08:00.000-08:002005-02-26T18:14:46.310-08:00No such thing as the winter blahs for the Pupster-Doo!Although my two-legged friends grumble about it, I love the winter - I won't lie to you. I think it's great - the snow is a blast, I don't get all tired and hot when I play in the snow, and if I get thirsty - well, I can just take a big mouthful of snow! Plus, it's fun to slide around in the snow while I'm playing.
We took a walk today at Heart Lake Conservation area - we go walking here quite often, it's a great place to meet other dogs and play with them. Today, my volleyball got stuck WAY UP a tree, and my Don had to climb the tree and poke it out with a long stick. It was a very tasty stick too - I took it when he was done with it.
I was at this park a few weeks back with Don, and we were playing in the snow, when all of a sudden, a deer ran up to us out of nowhere - and looked at me like he wanted to play! I tried to run up to him, but by this time, he figured out that I was not the deer buddy he was looking for, and he ran off. I chased him for a bit, but MAN those deer are fast. I'm not so fast, so I ran back to play with Don.
And last week, i was at a different park, for my birthday. My friend Squirt and his family came to play in the park for my birthday - we played with hockey and tennis balls, and Squirt gave me a very tasty bone as a gift.
More later,
E.DogChuckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01937020492298115785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7456768.post-1096329595358197242004-09-27T16:59:00.000-07:002004-09-28T19:42:34.956-07:00Catching up with the E-dog Whoa - it's been a while since I put anything in this blog! There is a lot to catch up on...
Let me see, I've been camping in Algonquin, had two trips to the Pinery, and a bunch of hiking day trips....
So, let me start by telling you about our trip to Algonquin.
We stayed in Kearney Lake Campground (site 159) and I was so bored for the first day, because it took my people all day just to pack, drive up there, set stuff up and make dinner. Not a fun day for dogs at all.
But, we did manage to have some fun - mostly hiking, because it was too cold for my people to swim, and it was too windy to go canoeing. The best trail we did was Booth's rock trail, it's 5.1 k, and it took us up on top of a huge cliff! I know my people were really worried about me getting too close to the edge, so I got REALLY close a couple of times, just to show them that I was fine. They didn't seem to like that too much.
This is me on top of Booth's Rock:

<img src="http://www.msnusers.com/_Secure/0YQCz*6ke0fARk3MrWYLpYaC2lyURD7wref9a5!DNJHcvk6FlMw7**GqLXj3vNjJbxcnZEljjhqFlyPB*gNFRkC64aVd87ia9zgzq0R91kX3BH4Gla00BVGhKNEKzzX!HN5D1qoDKl7PiimkBemNj7g/september2004%20029.jpg?dc=4675491062585906596"width="550" />

We also hiked the Big Pines trail, and we found a great dog beach on Canisbay Lake, where we met some other dogs. Unfortunately, the two dogs I met had some issues - dominance issues to be exact, and they weren't all that fun to play with. I don't like girls who try to hump me and/or beat me up! But by the time they showed up, I had spent a good couple hours playing with my people, so I was getting kind of tired.
Generally, I do like most of the people we meet when we are camping. Everyone seems so friendly, and usually there aren't very many people who are terrified of dogs - I imagine those ones don't get out camping much!
I met a guy at the campsite across from us who was really nice, and wanted to pet me. He said that he had to leave his dog at home, because the "missus" doesn't like to be alone when he goes camping. Apparently, neither does he - because he brought himself someone to keep him company... not a dog, but a young , two-legger female he was attached to most of the weekend!
I was just glad he wasn't lonely without his dog!
I met a couple of other people who explained that they had purposely left their two labs at home so they could camp! I sure am glad my people don't try to sneak off camping without me.
I had a good time at Algonquin this year, lots of hiking, a bit of swimming, and some solid naps by the campfire. I wish we didn't have to cut our trip short, but it was pretty cold, and I think my people were a bit bored without being able to swim or stick me in a canoe. Hopefully next year we'll have some better summer weather!
I don't even remember the ride home, I was pooped right out in the back seat!

Here's a picture of me at the base of a 210 year old white pine, on Big Pines trail - this tree was HUGE!

There were so many people there - my Auntie Al, my Uncle Aaron, Sunny, Grandma and Craig, Uncle Tim and Aunt Mar, even Uncle Phil and his family came by.
I spent the weekend in the pool - I can go in when ever I want to now that I can climb up the ladder to get out on my own. I have to admit, it was a bit stressful because there were so many damn things floating in the pool that needed rescuing - toys, pool noodles, people, floaty mats, the thermometre, the skimmer (Grandma didn't like it when I tried to save that)
Uncle Tim and Craig were shooting at me with water pistols - they wouldn't listen when I asked them to stop - I HATE that!!! So, instead, I kicked them square and took it away from them - I almost managed to hide one of the guns in the bushes, but they stopped me.
I had a really great time, and I was very tired after we got back home - these weekends really tire me out. But it was worth it.
They tell me that the next big thing is our trip to Algonquin park later this month - I can't wait for that - I loved that place last year - so many trails to hike and lakes to jump into.
I hope everyone out there is enjoying summer as much as I am - - but hey, I'm a dog - I enjoy almost anything! Just don't shoot me with a water pistol!
We went camping in Killbear Provincial Park on Georgian Bay near Parry Sound. There are lots of rattlesnakes in Killbear park, and of course, my people were quite worried about me coming across a rattlesnake. I told them not to worry and that I'd keep an eye out for them, but of course, they worry anyway.
As it happened, I saw no rattlesnakes.
We spent most of each day in the water - it's funny watching the people in the water, they think it's so cold! We even jumped off some high rocks into the Bay - I was jumping off a rock that was about 6 feet above the water. I could tell that lots of people were quite surprised (and impressed) to see a dog jumping off rocks with their kids.
There is a great beach at Killbear where I was able to run around off leash with the other dogs. It was fun for a while, but I mostly stayed with my people, because that was more fun. We swam and played fetch and catch and lay in the sunshine.

The trails at Killbear were not very exciting, and I wasn't allowed to be off the leash because of the rattlesnakes.
We did find one trail where we climbed down the rocks to the Bay, and that was cool, because I got to go swimming in there too. I like rock climbing!

I was very tired and sore when we got home on sunday night - but after some rest and some aspirin (and some liver treats) I'm good as new again.

Our people were really busy working in the house, so we didn't get to have many adventures, but I had fun with Sunny - I miss her a lot when she goes. Grandma says Sunny misses me too. This is a picture of us together at Grandma's house:
Today we had a great time! It was a vacation day for my people, so we went hiking at Hilton Falls conservation area. This is a beautiful area, with a fabulous waterfall, and lots of trails and caves to check out. We walked for about 6km today, thinking it would rain on us the whole time, but we finished the walk with no rain.
This is a great spot to visit, and we had a great time. Lucky for me, I don't have to stay on leash for the whole hike. We all have a better time when I'm off leash. Don and Sonia say I'm better behaved when I'm off leash, but that's just because they don't walk as fast as I do! I'm always careful on the trails though, I pay attention to when they need me to come back or stop. Hiking is one of my favourite things - I've been doing it since I was a young pup. (4 months old!) They say that some people have a problem with dogs being off leash. I have to disagree with them - I'm a very careful dog - and usually I leave people alone (unless they happen to have pockets full of carrots!) I think it's great when we meet other dogs off leash, and we can play and wrestle. I stick close to my people, and they are always picking up after me - I do get a kick out of that :)

I'd like to ask all those people out there to have a little faith in us dogs - we're not all terrible. If you get to know us, you might even like some of us. I'll watch out for you on the trails, if you watch out for me.

Over and out,

I can't wait, every time I see her she sneaks me extra treats!
Yesterday was Canada day - and there were lots of loud noises at night - but I went swimming, so it was a good day.
I think this weekend I get to go hiking with Sunny, I don't know where we'll go, but I'm sure we'll have fun. I'll post an updated entry maybe even with some pictures.

And, by the way, thanks Uncle Jeremy for your note :) We'll get hiking/biking soon!
That's all for now,
