I ruined the lilies painting. But I didn't let it get me down and jumped right into this piece. But with the fourth and multiple fire works displays I didn't keep a steady work pace on it. Then when I finished pinkies I wasn't happy with it so I stewed on it for a couple of days. Now I have it to an acceptable point and here it is. Enjoy.</div><div><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_VsZMSNTf_h8/Slh3dhla93I/AAAAAAAACTs/KZGJeuJoepo/s1600-h/Pinkies.jpg"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_VsZMSNTf_h8/Slh3dhla93I/AAAAAAAACTs/KZGJeuJoepo/s320/Pinkies.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5357163105872443250" /></a><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7435100-1228135721471259818?l=randycarboni.blogspot.com'/></div>Randy Carbonihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05418961070713092373noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7435100.post-22152378948605502372009-06-24T22:18:00.001-04:002009-06-24T22:20:49.692-04:00SoldI sold my Sendak tribute piece today. I start by adding a thick layer of gesso on the canvas then add texture with my bag of tricks. When the gesso dries I stain it with a burnt sienna/cadmium yellow mixture. Then I start painting. <div><br /></div><div><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 281px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_VsZMSNTf_h8/SkA5thRBaQI/AAAAAAAACKE/pgb5Q9Ck8Dg/s320/lilly.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5350339811502811394" /></div><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7435100-5588510536683035411?l=randycarboni.blogspot.com'/></div>Randy Carbonihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05418961070713092373noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7435100.post-20093430386878974732009-06-20T08:32:00.001-04:002009-06-20T08:33:46.288-04:00Three PearsHere is another all acrylics piece. 18" x 24" on stretched canvass. <div><br /></div><div><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 234px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_VsZMSNTf_h8/SjzXGVrNCdI/AAAAAAAACJ0/Tnv20imAK9c/s320/ThreePears.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5349386961306847698" /></div><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7435100-2009343038687897473?l=randycarboni.blogspot.com'/></div>Randy Carbonihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05418961070713092373noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7435100.post-26350510089770299272009-06-10T21:23:00.003-04:002009-06-10T21:27:17.129-04:00Mimi<div>I am hosting the <a href="http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=566250">June Abstract/Contemporary challenge</a> at the <a href="http://www.wetcanvas.com/index.php">wet canvas</a> site. I will have to change gears this week. The <a href="http://www.rgoa.org/">Ridgefield Guild of Artists</a> is is having a Where the Wild Things Are tribute show. So I am going to make a couple of pieces for that (maybe).<div><br /></div><div><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 208px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_VsZMSNTf_h8/SgeRw1x8FRI/AAAAAAAACGk/2ETvqLlk70c/s320/TheYentas.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5334392551899927826" /></div><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7435100-965431981190485311?l=randycarboni.blogspot.com'/></div>Randy Carbonihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05418961070713092373noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7435100.post-67438897410505770772009-05-03T21:54:00.003-04:002009-05-03T22:00:49.066-04:00From the beginingHere is the start of another city Folks piece. I started by glueing down a few chunks of news paper. Since my pieces were starting to get too tight I had to mix it up someway. I didn't plan ahead, just glued them down. I move I would regret later. (maybe)<div><br /></div><div>I used a matte medium gel. I also splashed some around on the paper. I thought it might give a cool look to the watercolors. I also addeda little gesso for the same reason, and to tone down the newspaper chunks a little. I then sketched to ladies with a 2B pencil. I normally use a 4H but I wanted the pencil work to show though on this one. <br /><div><br /></div><div><br /><div><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_VsZMSNTf_h8/Sf5LIumRErI/AAAAAAAACGU/8OdGzp5nbIw/s320/step1.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5331781622172816050" /></div><div><br /></div><div>My next step was to add ink drawing with the eyedropper. I couldn't see my pencil line on the newspaper and gave the lady on the left a rather large nose.</div><div><br /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_VsZMSNTf_h8/Sf5LLQtyeVI/AAAAAAAACGc/vfp-iZ2w_yU/s320/step2.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5331781665690909010" /><br /><br /></div></div></div><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7435100-6743889741050577077?l=randycarboni.blogspot.com'/></div>Randy Carbonihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05418961070713092373noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7435100.post-49184952454720828732009-04-29T22:56:00.002-04:002009-04-29T22:58:17.497-04:00Wild Bill<div>This one dragged a little at the end.
