For the longest time I always felt like I really didn't have much to say on here. Now, all of a sudden, I've got plenty to talk about. The obscure sentry gun guy returns just in time in today's comic to save us all from Laguna Beach. I'm sure I'm not the only one of the opinion that even any Laguna Beach at all is too much Laguna Beach.

Also, in the first panel, we finally decided to reveal the outside of the ship where so many of the events that have unfolded in the past year have taken place. Hope you like it. It's very...bananaous.

Site changes are moving steadily along. Don't be surprised if when you come back on Monday something around here has changed.

Wow...lots to cover today. Okay, first, there's a comic today! Second, I'll have you know that BuzzComix is back up. So if y'all would be so kind as to make with the daily voting with the button located just above this post, we would greatly appreciate it.

We've made some big steps towards phping the site. I don't really have any timetable for when this should all be finished, but hopefully it will happen before I start school again at the end of August. The big problem is that at the same time we're trying to make these changes, there are also some new things on the horizon.

I'm redoing the Story page to make it more extensive and user-friendly. It's going to branch off to pages for each individual character now to more accurately explain aspects of the stories we've told so far so it'll be easier for people to just jump into our comic. We'll also have all the extras like wallpapers and such on those pages for the appropriate characters. It's going to be nice. Trust me. Also we're going to streamline our collection of wallpapers on the Hot Stuff page so we can easily add more in the future.

So that's a number of pages we're going to be adding at the same time we're trying to switch over to php. But yeah. We're working on it.

As a result, we've sorta been unintentionally gravitating towards updating on Tuesdays and Thursdays the last few weeks. Right now we're just happy to get up two comics a week. I apologize personally for not being able to be more punctual or definitive about our posting of comics during this time, but I'm sure you understand. Still it would be realistic for you guys to expect the next comic on Thursday.

Our gay-feline-hobo-robo storyline ends here for now with today's comic, which reveals that Moon, while very talented and handy with the technology, is not perfect.

PJ and I are still futzing with demonic tools of Web page creation, stuff we maybe should have learned like in 2000 -- databases, php and CSS. It's a bit like learning to program your VCR today. There are probably better ways of doing things, I'm sure, but we like being behind the curve, like a blown out tire chunk, or litter.

We've begun implementing a tool called "Comikaze" to streamline posting comics and posts. We're hoping that archives news posts will match up to their corresponding comics. One thing we haven't figured out yet is whether we can still do comments on this new system since we won't be posting with Blogger anymore. If anyone knows this stuff better than us and can tell us how to use comments on a php/css/database-driven Frankenmonster site, we sure would appreciate it.

Unless you think comments are useless anyway and that it's better we just turn them off. That's an option, too.

Anyway, we'll see y'all next week. Have a lovely end of July.

I told you we weren't finished with this robot business. What kind of business is revealed today in a brand-spankin' new, web-based comical strip.

Omar and I got into a debate on what the gay cat robot means by "anudda." I wonder whether it implies the bot has experimented before. Omar theorizes that it simply is self-referential like "I want to meet a gay cat robot not unlike myself." Which is totally not out of the ordinary at all. Alas...the world may never know.

Tethered Terror

Well shit. I thought I had posted the other day about the comic coming along slowly, but Blogger ate it. I figure you guys know by now that we're not going to stiff you guys on the updates (we do update) without a really good reason, and I'm sure our fans are the patient type, but still I'd like to let you know when you can expect our comic if it's not going to be up when it's supposed to be.

Nonetheless, there's a new comic today. Woohoo! You'll notice that we've decided to continue with what we started on the last comic with our robot kitty, and don't think we're done yet.

The Transformers theme is probably something resulting from subliminal and sub-atomic things tearing away at our minds after hearing about the live-action movie iteration of the 'bots being delayed till 07.

Omar and I are still working on site changes and stuff so I think you can expect the next comic on Monday. See you then.

Happy Anniversary to Us!

On this day a year ago, we launched the Space Monkeys! website. Woo!

You may have noticed there was no comic yesterday, the three of you. There was a slight change of plans with what we were doing, but we've got it all straightened out now. However, I have to work in a few hours so I can't stay up to have the comic up today. Look for the next one to be up on Friday, with more to come next week on their regularly scheduled days.

Hey, we can take our anniversary off, right?

Also, you might've noticed we finally got rid of that cumbersome Archives page in favor of a simpler setup. That's just a prelude to what we hope to have in the works in the near future to make this place run smoother. Look for some new wallpapers (Murphy and Bart) coming down the pipe as well.

Power Play

Well, technically, we're still on track with the updates.

Toda...tonight's comic features among other things a green tax collector's visor and a giant cat robot or something. Yes, I suppose that's what I drew.

You may have also noticed the return of Bobbo's fur. It took a leave of absence for quite some time because I never felt it looked right. I finally figured out how to get it the way I want it so I hope you enjoy the texture.

I have a feeling a giant cat robot is too delicious a thing to avoid in future comics. We'll try, but I just don't think Omar and I have the willpower to avoid feline bots, ya know?

We really didn't want to break the continuity of the Moon Weasel strips, but we just couldn't pass up this opportunity to do some Murphy and Bartholomew. The Moon Weasel series will conclude on Wednesday.

This strip raises some very serious intergeological questions. Have we not come far enough in today's society that an oversized gorilla can fornicate with a volcano? If so, can we watch? And so on.

The road to recovery

When you get blow'd up good, it's not likely you're going to come back anytime soon doing laps around the track, even if you did somehow cheat death and then find transport off a hostile planet and safe harbor in what looks like an Earthen hospital.

But, you know, that Moon Weasel is nothing if not wily and tenacious, as today's comic proves.

We're deep into our Summer Comics Series, deep like the meat juices at the bottom of a large pita (tofu dribbles if you're vegan). As PJ has alluded to in the past, we're talking about some site changes to make actiongravy.com a little easier for us to update, which will lead to a steady stream of four- (or three-) panel funnies in good times and in bad.

We welcome your comments and suggestions -- do you want only regularly updated comics or are you seeking mechandise, crossovers and other Web extranea? I know there's like three of you reading regularly; tell us what you think, you three.

We're back to updating semi-regularly, with a plan in hand and comics like today's foray into snack-based wargames in our back pocket.

PJ's desktop is up and running, and he reports that it's a much more comfortable feeling putting the comics together on his old digital stomping grounds than on a laptop. He's temperamental that way -- but whatever speeds up the production of juicy comics upon the tree of creativity is a fertilizer I'm more than willing to purchase and spread.

Omar: So, we should get together the next two weeks of comics. Hey, whatever happened to that weightlifting one?

Look What the Monkey Dragged In

Thanks to what I can only describe as drawer's block and a case of epic diarrhea (well I didn't really have epic diarrhea, I just wanted to make a Scrubs reference) I've allowed the worst to happen. We've disappeared from here without a trace. Seriously though, there's a number of reasons for our invisiblity I'm sure you guys don't want to hear so let's just put all that behind us and move on with the monkeys. K? We cool? Cool.

Our goal is to just shut up and do comics. Right now there's nothing we want more. So you can expect a spike in your monkey fix in the coming weeks starting tomorrow. The only thing that might get in the way down the road is we would like to make some changes to the way the site runs to make it more efficient, but that's all good stuff. So it's all good from here on out.

I've even got some wallpapers coming. You guys remember Murphy and Bartholomew, right?

Bobbo's mother a desperate housewife? Could the bearer of the teats and mother to the beloved sloth really be on the same promiscuity plane as the likes of Longoria and Hatcher? Can I stop asking questions that are making me hot?

For those of you just joining us, don't worry. We're still getting back into the swing of things ourselves. I can tell you it feels good to be back this week with two new comics, and the little hamster wheels in our heads are turning with new stories to come.

The site may undergo some changes in the coming weeks as it seems it may not be efficient enough for the future of Space Monkeys! It's gotten us through this year nicely, but it's time to take it up a notch. I'll keep you guys posted. New comics Mondays and Wednesdays again.

Good Tomatoes Take Time

Yes! It is our triumphant return! Nary has there been a return with this level of triumph. Regular updating is a go now that I'm through with my finals (school just gets in the way of everything), and my desktop will most likely be fixed in the next week or so.

I'd just like to thank those of you who've been patient with us these past few weeks and shown who the true Space Monkeys! fans are. That's right....SM! fans bring the patience, foo!

Really, I'm glad to put the last couple weeks behind us as they were by far the most frustrating in the short history of our comic. Now we can look forward to our one year anniversary (July 14), and continuing the journey of everyone's favorite space monkey and sloth.

As I'm sure Bobbo would tell you, good tomatoes are worth waiting for.

I really hate Web sites that have more excuses than content, and we were always determined not to be That Site, but here it is two more weeks with no new comics and to be perfectly honest, we know that there won't be a new one for probably about two more.

PJ is swamped in some end-of-semester assignments and I've been rehearsing every night for a show in May in addition to my usual overcommittments. Long story short is that he and I are both pretty swamped right now and even doing one simple comic right now is too much; so rather than half-ass it with some crappy work, we're taking another hiatus. We're hoping this will be the last one for a very long while. My rehearsals and recaps are over in May and so is PJ's school year, so this summer should be pretty wide open for some uninterrupted new comics.

Thanks for hanging in there, all three of you. We'll be back soon, and when we come back, we intend to come back for good.

It's sno problem

Unshackled from the stress of convoluted multi-part storylines, Bobbo and Meany return to have semi-weekly mini-adventures limited only by the bounds of our imagination and our PhotoShop filters.

In today's strip, the boys (er, monkey-boys) get into trouble with a sno-cone machine. Hilarity! Stay tuned for more early summer fun as Bobbo and Meany get tangled up in a Slip 'n Slide, get crazy sunburns at the beach and, oh yeah, the time when Meany gets stung by a jellyfish. OW!

I believe I've said it before, but I'll say it again. You never know what you're going to get in a Moon comic.

I guess there really is no replacement for the Moon Weasel. We didn't count on so many of you falling in love with him during the course of the saga which was designed to result in his demise. That's our bad. But you can't say we didn't warn you.
