It's peculiar to me that such comments on our society are so controversial. Really...this is still the way things are. This is the way most of the population views the world. People just aren't willing to talk about it. To take part in such a discourse would be unseemly, it would be politically incorrect. Yet the truth is still the truth <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">irregardless</span> of how uncomfortable it makes us.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7391372270429367792-7824261689026186585?l=www.quasivoid.com'/></div>quasivoidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14198907442615834552noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7391372270429367792.post-66598515672932325072009-05-29T02:32:00.001-07:002009-05-29T02:41:26.631-07:00What is abstraction? What is abstract?<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ncTHzAbvhac/Sh-r7uI0K5I/AAAAAAAAAG4/MbBHoHZ-ftE/s1600-h/abstraction2.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5341176725570333586" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 260px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ncTHzAbvhac/Sh-r7uI0K5I/AAAAAAAAAG4/MbBHoHZ-ftE/s400/abstraction2.jpg" border="0" /></a> So this is an image that I wasn't non-inspired by. I made it throwing together my love of the visual and love of meaning...yet I did it in a way to prove that shit can come from anything when married with ability and all things random. To be honest, it makes me think. Whilst I hate this image, as it was a practice in "what if I threw my <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">soulless</span> <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">shiz</span> together" I don't mind looking at it. I find it pretty sad and a little dehumanizing to my taste level and eyes in general that I don't hate looking at this exercise that was meant to be in futility. I think maybe we need to take our heads out of things.<br /><div></div><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7391372270429367792-6659851567293232507?l=www.quasivoid.com'/></div>quasivoidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14198907442615834552noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7391372270429367792.post-75893228693455536482009-05-13T14:26:00.000-07:002009-05-13T14:28:54.059-07:00Evil Mermaid<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ncTHzAbvhac/Sgs7Oa_6PjI/AAAAAAAAAGw/iOxne9mLjHs/s1600-h/quasivoid.mer.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5335423302502071858" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ncTHzAbvhac/Sgs7Oa_6PjI/AAAAAAAAAGw/iOxne9mLjHs/s400/quasivoid.mer.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div></div><br />The idea is that the mermaid is evil. It's not quite done, but I've stared at it long enough for now. Yes, it is the tooth fairy. I was trying to think of something that would make her look a little more insidious. The other day two of them, that I hadn't seen in quite a while came back to work. They were doing their high school play. I did a lot of plays in my youth. It made me quite nostalgic.<br /><br />Today I was driving my <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">teen aged</span> sister home and the "Landslide" song by Stevie Nicks was on (though this was the more annoying Dixie <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">Chics</span> version; my favorite is the Smashing <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">Pumkins</span>' take on it). This untouched calzone was staring me in the face. I've never had a calzone stare at me...though maybe not traumatic...I did have a reaction. Should I sell said calzone on ebay? Sometimes I think that I would be the most happy if I didn't have to do anything. Then it occurs to me (after many moments of fantasy) that one needs to be doing something. Just sitting around isn't going to cut it, even if you can watch Golden Girls and Battlestar Galactica all day. Thank god I haven't won the lottery....Yet...<br /><div></div><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7391372270429367792-1641486254512949883?l=www.quasivoid.com'/></div>quasivoidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14198907442615834552noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7391372270429367792.post-89505239940735837662008-10-22T14:48:00.000-07:002008-10-22T18:23:08.791-07:00The Truth is Out There...<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ncTHzAbvhac/SP_P7BcoZ_I/AAAAAAAAAEo/BjNjlcHzaR0/s1600-h/quasivoid.alien.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5260151502699784178" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 319px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ncTHzAbvhac/SP_P7BcoZ_I/AAAAAAAAAEo/BjNjlcHzaR0/s400/quasivoid.alien.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>Britain's Ministry of Defence has released files containing information about <a href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/7679145.stm">UFO sightings</a>. A sad sad woman who can only read from a teleprompter whilst effectively projecting the general malaise of evil? Really?<br /><br />The worst part about this debacle is in fact that it could be a reality. I'm not one of those people who can fester in their oh so out of touch intellectual disdain with the knowledge that it couldn't possibly come to be (I mean, look at the last eight years). The part that is truly scary is that the probability of her coming into office has a higher chance of coming to fruition than the realization of universal health care.<br /><br /><br /><div></div><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7391372270429367792-1884465671503263820?l=www.quasivoid.com'/></div>quasivoidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14198907442615834552noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7391372270429367792.post-38063678651268832172008-08-29T01:11:00.000-07:002008-08-29T01:37:51.289-07:00The Bitch Saved Mowgli!<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ncTHzAbvhac/SLe0ouRw72I/AAAAAAAAADs/ppj0jHEKRZM/s1600-h/quasivoid.dogbaby.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5239855303179169634" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ncTHzAbvhac/SLe0ouRw72I/AAAAAAAAADs/ppj0jHEKRZM/s400/quasivoid.dogbaby.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>So no shit, it’s really happened. Despite the whole modern world’s understandable rebuttal of all things fable, a fable has in fact come into reality. <a href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7577275.stm">A dog has saved a human baby </a>and brought it back to be raised with its own puppy offspring.<br /><br />There’s a modern twist too (although very sad and poignant) making it even more modern, and…also sadder, a 14 year old girl (hello Geraldo…babies having babies) gave birth to a premature baby and left him in a field. <em>Super fable dog made reality</em> found the crying infant and took it back to where it lived with her own babes. Luckily there were people there with enough foresight to realize that their dog’s puppies don’t cry like people. They found the baby and called the authorities. </div><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7391372270429367792-3806367865126883217?l=www.quasivoid.com'/></div>quasivoidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14198907442615834552noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7391372270429367792.post-12219798134567169032008-08-20T14:16:00.000-07:002008-08-20T14:19:27.839-07:00Shiloh VS Suri<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ncTHzAbvhac/SKyKRH1mehI/AAAAAAAAADk/cRZEEi5HEME/s1600-h/quasivoid.ShilovsSuri.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5236712493491321362" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ncTHzAbvhac/SKyKRH1mehI/AAAAAAAAADk/cRZEEi5HEME/s400/quasivoid.ShilovsSuri.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><br /><div>When I was at the local 711 getting another pack of very evil cigarettes I perused the magazine rack in front of the register as is my usual practice. We’ve all seen these well placed magazine covers and have probably succumbed to their glossy call, buying them on occasion even though we had no intention to do so.<br /><br />I know it’s not a surprise. I guess it’s even to be expected. Yet I was truly revolted as I saw the cover of this week’s issue of the ever-present Star magazine. Their cover story was about the world’s favorite children, Suri Cruise and Shiloh Jolie Pitt. Depicted on the <a href="http://www.theinsider.com/photos/1131088_Shiloh_Jolie_Pitt_vs._Suri_Cruise">cover </a>looking adorable were both tots. This is nothing unusual really; these kids have seen more press than any key on my keyboard.<br /><br />What was bothersome was the premise of the story. The magazine pits the children against each other with a list of their “known” positive and negative attributes. Which kid is still on the bottle, who wears hand me downs, which one is a free spirit? It’s amazing that first of all people care (I mean, even I care enough to write a post about it) and second of all that everyone seems okay with creating an adversarial relationship between two toddlers who most likely don’t even know of the existence of the other.</div></div><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7391372270429367792-1221979813456716903?l=www.quasivoid.com'/></div>quasivoidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14198907442615834552noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7391372270429367792.post-18100960951429735812008-08-18T20:04:00.000-07:002008-08-18T20:13:12.903-07:00Visual Merchandizing Bliss<a href="http://images.telegraaf.nl/multimedia/archive/02123/hema_2123671b.jpg"><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://images.telegraaf.nl/multimedia/archive/02123/hema_2123671b.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>HEMA is a Dutch department store.
