Looking for a set of traditional babushka Russian dolls with a modern twist? Check out this version of the wooden dolls which I've found at 4 boutique. One set had a print of handbags and the other set had a print of runway models. I think one doll had an image of Hussein Chalayan's model print on, I could be wrong. Anyways, these would make a perfect gift for the fashion obsessed. And then I've found these Osman Yousefzada humongous sculptural suede wedge heels which I fell in love with immediately until I tried them on. All I was able to do with them is stand still. There has to be an occasion where I can wear them with very very minimal walking... right? Maybe host a gathering right next to my shoe closet? A shoeaholic can dream..

TopShop's New Location

TopShop has been relocated to a bigger and a nicer location opposite to Zara at the Avenues just a couple of days ago. The new shop has a neater shoe lounge and more merchandise than the old one. The merchandise had several new additions by Unique. The rest is pretty much the same as the ones that were on display in the old shop.

Structured shoulders hit the runways the past two seasons in all shapes and forms. And of course that’s no news to you. But now that the sale’s all over K-town, would you still scout for this trend or are you over and done with the strong shoulders?

I spotted this Paule Ka purplish dress with a cute side bow. The shoulders details were mix of sharper/softer structure with more compact to them. I actually liked the fitting AND it was on sale. I think the price tag after sale was around KD 200. I found another dress with the same shoulder effect but it was kind of shapeless; maybe it would look more flattering paired with a thick multi-buckle belt.

Even though I know a lot of of people who shop at Designers' Lounge, for some reason, I rarely shop at their Salhiya boutique, maybe the merchandise display was not very inviting. And up until yesterday, I have never been to their Avenues branch. So when I decided to have a look at their Avenues branch, I was taken by surprise by how discerningly stocked boutique it is.

Designers' Lounge is very heavy on women's casual chic/semi formal clothes and accessories, with a scant supply of evening wear & accessories tucked in a corner of the shop. I found the display to be a colorful and had a well-edited selection of different lesser known and established brands popping against the shop’s bright white interior. Here I picked some of my favorite items from two lovely brands called All Dressed up and Maje which are also currently being sold at net-a-porter.

Adorable mint cropped leather jacket with ruched details by All Dressed up for KD 160. It can be worn with long flowy dresses or high-waist pants

An extra unique and beautiful cropped black jacket with layers of scalloped fabric by All Dressed up for KD 198. Would look smashing with wide long pants

Perfect top to wear with jeans for casual outings. Love the embellished details on one shoulder. Price tag?

OK, this top might not look that great on the hanger, but once you try it on, you'll see that it has so much character. Price tag? KD 90

Another top to wear with tapered pants, ruffled skirts, or jeans with ballerinas. Top by Maje and has this really cute sketch of a girl with a huge black bow. Price tag? KD 46

Remember last March when I posted about Marni's project which aims to give less fortunate children a brighter future through producing a line of 240 cotton shopping bags with paintings from children living in Brazil, Colombia, Guatemala, Tibet, and India? The bags were sold out at Marni Boutique's in Villa Moda. But now I found another batch, not sure if they are from the same project (neither the sales assistant), but from the looks of the bags and the drawings on them I'm assuming they are. Marvelous Mirzam Manifesto

I have posted about this event a few days back, but honestly after visiting the exhibition earlier today, the photos I have seen on Mirzam Manifesto's blog did not do them justice. I'm not surprised that all the work of Anas Al-Omaim and Jassim Al-Saddah has sold out within hours of the exhibition's launch. All their artwork was impeccably well done and creatively mesmerizing. They incorporated old Kuwaiti proverbs and popular slang into digitalized photos of things that reminded us of our childhood in a very pop-artish/Warhol-ish way. Both Anas and Jassim were present and they walked us through the exhibition explaining the idea behind each art piece. Very friendly and very well-spoken. I have taken few photos featured here. Also displayed at the Mirzam's exhibition, were piece of Established & Sons furniture and home accessories, here are some cool items from Established & Sons at Boutique 4.

Shanta is a result of two friends, Muneera Al Naibari and Sirine Sadeddin, with discerning eye for unique designs who wanted to portray their creativity in designing not just another clutch but a style that has the right mix of timeless elegance with funky edge. What I personally like about their designs is that they're fun to wear and has this an unintimidating nod to the 80's.

"The concept behind our brand is designing pieces that portray a new facet in creative designs. Each detail of our collection is handpicked to make unique and original pieces", expressed Al-Naibari.
