Edit the file Ofcscan.ini under the folder \PCCSRV of your Officescan Server directory.

2. Search for the Master_Pwd under the [INI_SERVER_SECTION].

3. Then change the equivalent value into 70. This would give you a password of 1.

4. Make sure that you save the Ofcscan.ini file after changing the value of the Master Password.

Ofcscan.ini, most likely located in the default location: "C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\OfficeScan Client". If not just do a search for it.

Save the ini file and begin. Go to the c:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Security server\PCCSRV\Private directory or where ever you have installed the program. Note: You may need to stop the TrendMicro services. If you can’t find this directory then just do a search for the file.

2. Open the ofcserver.ini file.

3. Look for the MasterPwd= parameter under the [INI_SERVER_SECTION] section.

4. Replace the MasterPwd= value with 70 .

5. Save and close the ofcserver.ini file.

6. Restart TM Security server Master Service if you need to get into the console itself, or just start your uninstaller.

7. I noticed on the 3rd try that to the left in the open windows view there where HUNDREDS(not sure how many) of windows opening, so I quickly started closing them as fast as I could click. I clicked until the program stayed open and then realized the where all reports he had run and never closed. It is an excellent message that ABSOLUTELY applies to ALL of us who send e-mails. Please read the short letter below, even if you're sure you already follow proper procedures.. Do you really know how to forward e-mails? 10% of us do; 90% DO NOT. Do you wonder why you get viruses or junk mail? Do you hate it?

Every time you forward an e-mail there is information left over from the people who got the message before you, namely their e-mail addresses & names. As the messages get forwarded along, the list of addresses builds, and builds, and builds, and all it takes is for some poor sap to get a virus, and his or her computer can send that virus to every e-mail address that has come across his computer. Or, someone can take all of those addresses and sell them or send junk mail to them in the hopes that you will go to the site and he will make five cents for each hit. That's right, all of that inconvenience over a nickel!

How do you stop it? Well, there are several easy steps:

(1) When you forward an e-mail DELETE all of the other addresses that appear in the body of the message (at the top ). That's right, DELETE them. Highlight them and delete them, backspace them, cut them, whatever it is you know how to do. It only takes a second. You MUST click the 'Forward' button first and then you will have full editing capabilities against the body and headers of the message. If you don't click on 'Forward' first , you won't be able to edit the message at all.

(2) Whenever you send an e-mail to more than one person, do NOT use the To: or Cc: fields for adding e-mail addresses.Always use the BCC : (blind carbon copy) field for listing the e-mail addresses. This is the way the people you send to will only see their own e-mail address. If you don't see your Bcc: option click on where it says To: and your address list will appear. Highlight the address and choose Bcc: and that's it, it's that easy! When you send to Bcc: your message will automatically say 'Undisclosed Recipients' in the 'To:' field of the people who receive it.

(3) Remove any 'FW :' in the subject line. You can re-name the subject if you wish, or even fix spelling.

(4) ALWAYS hit your Forward button from the actual e-mail you are reading. Ever get those e-mails that you have to open 10 pages to read the one page with the information on it? By forwarding from the actual page you wish someone to view, you stop them from having to open many e-mails just to see what you sent. I know if I discover I must open umpteen paper clips or emails, I get frustrated and just delete before I ever get to the one I'm supposed to read!

(5) Have you ever gotten an email that is a petition? It states a position and asks you to add your name and address and to forward it to 10 or 15 people or your entire address book. The email can be forwarded on and on and can collect thousands of names and email addresses. A FACT: The completed petition is actually worth a couple of bucks to a professional spammer because of the wealth of valid names and email addresses contained therein. If you want to support the petition, send it as your own personal letter to the intended recipient. Your position may carry more might as a personal letter than a laundry list of names and email address on a petition.(Actually, if you think about it, who's actually supposed to send the petition in to whatever cause it supports? And don 't believe the ones that say that the email is being traced, it just isn't so!)

(6) One of the main ones I hate is the one that says that like, 'Send this email to 10 people and you'll see something great run across your screen.' Or, sometimes they'll just tease you by saying something really cute will happen IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN!!!!! (Trust me, I'm still seeing some of the same ones that I waited on 10 years ago!) I don't let the bad luck ones scare me either, they get trashed. They have become much more sophisticated in their tactics. As spam filters get smarter they have to find new tricks to get around them. One of the ways they can get by the filters is with a string of words that make no sense. This overwhelms the spam filters making it harder for them to determine if a message is spam.

“Nonsense messages”
Also called “Selfless Spam” or “Word Salad”. This is an email that is usually babble, which leads to nothing. The purpose is to confuse spam filters, which makes them less effective and a way to slip in like a cockroach. It doesn’t benefit them directly, but all spammers, by messing with the filtering of spam itself.

“Web Bugs or Beacons”
Then we have those that aren’t selfless at all. HTML formatted spam may contain "web beacons" or "web bugs" embedded in them. These tiny transparent images are about (1 pixel). They can also be the same color as the background. These tiny images are linked to content on the spammer's server, so when you view the email, your computer sends a request back to that server letting the spammer know that he has a "live" email address along with your IP address, & the exact time you viewed the content.

Two ways to protect yourself:

Configure your email client not to download images whose URLs are embedded in HTML messages or using a text-based mail client. Newer email programs are set to block these images by default. That's why you find that you get messages with the images missing.

Turn off the preview pane in each folder view that you set up. You can do this by going to View in Outlook, then reading pane, click off.

As usual, only open emails from people you know of and if it looks funny then delete it.
There are many spam programs you can use, most internet security antivirus packages come with a spam filter built in but you may have to configure it. Also, there are a some, 3rd party anti-spam programs out there as well.

www.MyComputerGirl.com

Subscribe to this feed.
My Computer Girlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06991901686148819566noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7354586.post-7585955237774348502007-05-04T14:59:00.001-04:002008-02-20T11:11:45.094-05:00QuickBook Update Errors & Digital Signatures
First you need to scout out any expired Intuit certificates. Go to
Internet Properties, click on the Content tab, then Certificates and then follow
the visual aids that I have supplied you for the rest.

Then search for the Intuit certificate and delete it.

After this try your install again. When you see this screen below you will
want to click on the link Publisher: Intuit, Inc.

Follow the visuals that I have supplied for you below.

Hit OK and continue with your update. If this does not work for you
then research any error codes that it is giving you on the Intuit site or call
for support.

Sometimes just resetting the update in QuickBooks update section itself and
re-downloading the whole thing will fix you issue as well.

Remember, as always we are not responsible for any damages you may cause or
incur by anything you do from the help files in this site.

www.MyComputerGirl.com

Subscribe to this feed.
My Computer Girlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06991901686148819566noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7354586.post-18338888410556248822007-02-19T22:50:00.001-05:002008-02-20T11:18:38.950-05:00Early DST May Bring Your PC Some GriefDaylight Saving Time is 3 weeks early this year and will end 1 week later when we fall back.

This is okay for us to adjust to but not all PC's will feel the same. Unless certain updates are applied to your computer, you may have find that time synchronized programs may disruptive and calendars will be off for up to 4 weeks, untill it catches up at the usual time. So to avoid any issues before hand it is a good idea to make sure both your Windows operating system and calendar programs have been patched.

See Microsoft for more details and run the daylight savings time guide.
http://support.microsoft.com/gp/cp_dst

Home users: If you use Windows Vista or have Automatic Updates turned on, you may not be affected by the change in daylight saving time. Annoying but not critical. I have seen this problem only twice and found that this fix worked for me.

Open REGEDIT, back it up, and then go to the appropriate keys and make the changes as seen below.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\stisvc]
"Start"=dword:00000004

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersionPolicies\Explorer] "NoSaveSettings"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersionExplorer\Advanced]"NoNetCrawling"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersionPolicies\Explorer]"NoRemoteRecursiveEvents"=dword:00000001

Reboot your PC and then open My Computer, it should snap open. With one or many things that it could be, but I needed to see it and gave them my rate and some ideas of what it could be. To MY SURPRISE, the woman snatches the phone and starts hollering that SHE knew what I was up to that I was just trying to make money. I had to remind her that she called ME and was free to call anyone, and that computers came at a cost with ownership.

So with that little anecdote out of the way, I will tell you why I told you this story. I want to make you aware of the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) of a personal computer.

It is estimated that the TCO is 3 to 4 times GREATER than that of the purchase price. With computer prices SO LOW, so is the quality and therefore the life span.

The best comparison I can give you is that of a 99 cent pack of chicken hotdogs to that of a prime steak. If you ate a cheap hotdogs everyday you would pay more for it in the long run with your health or life. The same goes with these cheap computers now days. They ARE more affordable but they just don't last as long as they used to, which can be good for they go out of date SO FAST anyway. I also like to look at it like cheap shoes, they wear out faster but hey, you get to buy a NEW BETTER PAIR when they do. LOL, yes "I AM WOMAN!"

Another thing to remind you of when owning a computer, user error is inevitable. Computer USERS tend to cause most of there own headaches. Although this is NOT on purpose, it still is. Like RONCO says, "You can't set it and forget it." With all that said, I hope you have a better understanding of TCO when buying or when you own a computer. It is not the technicians fault nor is it a conspiracy.

P-)
Hope this has helped

www.MyComputerGirl.com

Subscribe to this feed.
My Computer Girlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06991901686148819566noreply@blogger.com
