My family decided to pay the Golden Leaf Village Restaurant a visit after watching a review from Astro’s TV programme.

So one fine weekend, we drove all the way to the land of Klang to try out the highly rated restaurant that serves the typical Chinese cuisines.

We arrived early and managed to secure a table at the upper floor of the restaurant. I reckon the food there was tad bit over rated by the TV show.

Deep fry crispy pork belly....

The signature dish - Deep Fry Kangkung topped with cuttlefish. This dish was rather unique.

Another recommended dish - Fried pumpkin with salted egg yolk!

The best dish I enjoyed was their braised fish in superior sauce and lots of dry chilis... The sauce was a great combination to go with the rice!

The beancurb soup... tasted rather bland...

The steamed lala wasn't that great either...

Steamed fish wasn't that fantastic afterall...

It was my first visit to Golden Leaf Village Restaurant but the FOOD didn't quite ignite my interest to pay a 2nd visit due to the long drive towards Klang... Overall rating so so and I can't understand why is it sooo packed with people waiting for a table everyday?

Anyway here is a random post of darling's Evvelynn's Birthday end of October! :) We decided to have a last minute meet up since she made a short visit to KL from Singapore!

Quarter a Century Old! :)

I’m officially quarter a century old like how many puts it. You feel truly blessed to have closed ones, family and friends to celebrate this special day with you. =)

Thank you all for your time and lovely wishes. :)

I guess now you somehow feel like you’re moving towards the next stage in life. Gone were the days with no commitments to worry about and you felt FREE like a bird. Working was different. You have greater responsibilities to ensure you adhere to your duties and not to mention having to juggle the stress and pressure.

The next stage would be eventually settling down and starting a family in which your priorities then changes along the way. We friends used to chat so much about school and college, boys and shopping but now all we talked about would be who was the latest bride to be and when will you be getting married? LOL!

This year has been a roller coaster ride but to sum it all up, I take it as a new beginning to better things to come! =)

As always I believe in living life to the fullest!!!! Life is short so be satisfied with what you have and appreciate those closest to you! :)

Birthday Treat @ Sushi Tei, Tropicana City Mall!

When it comes to Japanese cuisines, you now find so many restaurants around serving it in Malaysia alone.

You would definitely have heard of Sushi King, Sake Sushi, Genki Sushi and many more where Japanese food are more affordable. There are many buffet options available too such as Jogoya at Starhill, Kampachi at Equatorial Hotel and etc.

I came upon Sushi Tei restaurant at Tropicana City Mall upon recommendation from my mum so there we headed for dearie’s birthday treat. :)

Sushi Tei recently opened in Tropicana City Mall and it’s the latest addition to the wide selection of Japanese food now available around town. Sushi Tei is a chain restaurant originated from Singapore featuring kaiten style sushi and ala carte menu.

This place can be really packed during peak hours of the weekends, so the best would be to do a reservation prior or have dinner early.

Sushi Tei Restaurant is located at the G floor near Kenny Rogers....

Ming Palace Restaurant @ Corus Hotel!

It was daddy’s beloved birthday last September and as per the usual family ritual, we gathered for a closed door dinner cum celebration at Restaurant Ming Palace at Corus Hotel!

I’ve always adored family gatherings; especially more on special occasions. As time goes by, we are all so packed up with work during the week days and hardly have time to even catch up with personal talks and bonding session. Nevertheless I enjoyed every single minute, not due to good food but great companions. =)

Renowned for its hot, spicy Szechuan cuisine, Ming Palace offers an impressive array of sumptuous dishes that include Cantonese and Shanghainese.

Located on the first floor, the restaurant is tastefully furnished in traditional Chinese imperial settings. They are current offering an ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT promotion.
Adult – RM 98 ++, Child – RM 68 ++

Its coffered ceiling, Chinese lanterns and imprints of chrysanthemum flowers on the glass panel partitions lend a palatial ambience to your dining experience.

A wide selection of Chinese dishes to choose from...

Though buffet, each person was entitled only 1 serving of sharkfin soup! LOL! The rest of the dishes you can order unlimited rounds :P

Finally a plate of pancake with Lotus Seed Paste to complete the dinner. OMG it was one of the most filling dinner I've ever had... Chinese FOOD buffet style is not really a good idea as the portion is huge and you need to finish all to avoid charges due to wastage! :P

Japanese FOOD @ Nippon Yataimura

Location: Restaurant Nippon Yataimura, Lot LG-352, Lower G Floor, 1 Utama

Another foodie trip at Nippon Yataimura at the 1 Utama shopping center.

Thinking of what to eat at 1 Utama has always been a headache with the overwhelming choices of restaurants; not knowing whether the food is good or the price is reasonable. At times you just have to take the risks and try it out! LOL!

At Nippon Yataimura, you get to experience a nice interior with not too bad quality of food indeed...

First we have appetizers - our all time fav agedashi tau foo, priced at RM 3!

I opted my main course of Gekikara Ramen - Noodles in Hot and Spicy soup with lots vegetables and tempura prawn! Priced at RM 16!

The dinner bento set that came with Teppanyaki Salmon, Fried Garlic Rice, Salad, fruits and soup! Priced at RM 25! Dearie reckon it was so so only...

The pan fry salmon with teriyaki sauce and lots of bean sprouts!

Added RM 3 to upgrade white to garlic rice! :)

The sushi roll at RM 18! Nothing fantastic though, I've eaten better sushi rolls than this...Fried soft shell crab and cucumber was rolled with Japanese rice and topped with fish roe and Japanese mayo...Decent but nothing great!

The total damage for 2 pax was about RM 80! Dining at shopping malls can never be cheap eh? Till then have a good sunday, shall blog soon... :)

Craving for some Thai Food? The good news is you can feed your cravings for authentic Thai cuisines without having to travel all the way to Thailand.

The Restaurant Bangkok House situated at 3 Two Square, Petaling Jaya is the latest addition to the food family. The chefs and even waitresses originated from Thailand and the Thai Food is definitely one of the best I’ve eaten so far!

Nice and comfy ambience, air conditioned and very clean too.

Let’s see what we had that day, you can expect nothing but ultimate SPICY FOOD! :P

Famous Pork Noodles @ Pomander Restaurant, SS15 Subang Jaya!

The weekends are finally here and HAPPY Halloween!!!! :)

Have you ever tried waiting for pork noodles for more than an hour? Yes in fact we waited patiently for more than an hour for the all time famous pork noodles at Pomander Restaurant near SS15.

I’ve heard so much of the pork noodles here, rated one of the best in town! Upon ordering our meals at the stall, the owner would inform you accordingly that you have to wait approximately 45 minutes to an hour. Hence if you can’t wait, I suggest not eating here!

A bowl of pork noodles would cost RM 4.50 while a large bowl would be RM 5.20. It’s still reasonably priced though famous! LOL!

I’ve always been a big fan of pork noodles and let’s see what’s so great about the pork noodles here that have the whole town screaming for more…

After waiting for a good one hour, we finally had a taste of the pork noodles!

The soup was indeed very tasty! Lots of pork too!

I guess the secret ingredient to a pork noodle would always be the "Chu Yao Cha" a.k.a pork lard!!

Indeed a satisfying meal, cheap and nice! But I hated the waiting, especially when you are extremely hungry.... can only smell the food.. LOL!

Vietnam Kitchen @ Food Republic, Pavilion

Location: Food Republic @ Pavilion KL, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur

Looking for some affordable yet delicious meal, you can always visit the Food Republic, the mall’s food court at Pavilion Shopping Center.

There is this particular stall that I visited often, the Vietnam Kitchen that serves traditional Vietnamese cuisines at reasonable prices, with set lunch or dinner available.

Vietnam Kitchen is nothing new; in fact they have so many franchises around at 1 Utama, Plaza OUG and more. Vietnamese cuisine is a style of cooking derived from the nation of Vietnam; fish sauce, soy sauce, rice, fresh herbs, fruits and vegetables are commonly used which means food are extremely healthy.

The stall @ Food Republic... look out Vietnam Kitchen! :)

I opted for their set lunch which was priced at RM 12.90 that came with one mail course and 2 side dishes! The VietnameseFried Spring Roll is definitely not to be missed!!! The deep fried flour rolls are filled with pork meat, yam, crab and shrimp!

The salad that came with vermicelli, carrots and mushrooms topped with rice crackers! :)

The main course was of course my all time fav Pho noodles! Noodle soup with a rich, clear broth made from a long boiling of meat and spices. There are many varieties of Pho made with different meats (most commonly beef or chicken) along with beef meatballs and topped with bean sprouts! *slurrppp* The soup was very tasty indeed! :)

Aloha readers, how was your weekends?

I had a busy week prior to the weekends with intensive sales training 3 days in a row. How great it is to catch up with some good old friends who came back from Singapore just talking on and on about life back in college and work!

In fact I have too many pending items to update, let’s sum up the final post on my US trip before I left Seattle to transit back to Malaysia.

There’s one place in Seattle not to be missed, the all time famous Shiro’s Sushi Restaurant situated at the 2nd Avenue, Seattle. Master Chef Shiro Kashiba has been profiled in every major cuisine periodical and newspaper including Bon Appetit, The New York Times, and USA Today for his profound and unique Japanese cuisines.

Upon arrival at Seattle from New York, we rented a car and off we go towards our lunch destination! hehehe...

Dinner @ Uptown Manhattan!

Happy Deepavali to all… I was wondering why there isn’t a replacement holiday on Monday? :P

Here are some final photos of our dinner at upper east side of Manhattan, New York before we flew back via Jetblue to Seattle the following day!

The Upper East Side is a neighborhood in the borough of Manhattan in New York City, between Central Park and the East River. Upper East Side maintains one of the highest pricing per square foot in the United States, hence you can expect only the rich and famous to stay here.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art @ New York!

Talking about being artsy, we decided to join the fellow new yorkers for an experience at the local museum of history.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, known colloquially as The Met, is an art museum located on the eastern edge of Central Park in New York City, USA. The main building, often referred to simply as "the Met," is one of the world's largest art galleries.

At The Met, you get to see huge collections of art works from classical antiquity and Ancient Egypt, paintings and sculptures from nearly all the European masters, and an extensive collection of American and modern art.

The Met also maintains extensive holdings of African, Asian, Oceanic, Byzantine and Islami art.

Madison Square Garden!

Aloha fellow blog readers, it has been a busy busy week with trainings to attend and endless calls and emails to do. TGIF again and HELLO weekends.... :)

Madison Square Garden, often abbreviated as MSG and known colloquially as The Garden, has been the name of four arenas in New York City. It is also the name of the entity which owns the arena and several of the professional sports franchises which play there.

Before we headed over to Madison Square Garden after a visit to the Empire State Building, we made a pit stop over at the Madison Square Park and had awesome burgers @ Shake Shack once again.

A Trip to the Empire State Building @ New York!

Weekends are here once again! I get to tune off from work, be hassled free from phone calls and emails, just spending time with friends and family. :) AWESOME and I’m loving it…

Happy Mid Autumn Festival to all! Gone were the days you anticipate the festival so much, playing lanterns with your siblings and relatives. Now the only thing you do is having a reunion dinner and moon cake feast! :P I have to admit I AM GETTING OLD! Ish ish…

Back to more photos of NEW YORK! I’m still not done yet! Muahahaha…. We visited the Empire State Building situated at the 5th Avenue.

The Empire State Building is a 102-story landmark Art Deco skyscraper in New York City at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and West 34th Street. Following the destruction of the World Trade Center in 2001, the Empire State Building once again became the tallest building in New York City.

The Empire State Building was also features in many films, for example the classic movie King Kong! You can visit the Empire State Building's observatory on the 86th floor from where you have a magnificent view over the city of New York.

Brooklyn Promenade @ New York!

I attended dearie's friend's wedding at Overseas Restaurant at Jaya One yesterday night! The bride was gorgeous and so was the groom.... :)

A BIG congratulation to Jonathan and Annie, may you live happily ever after! :)

So many people are gearing up to get married this year, maybe because it's the year of the Ox?Well this in turn burnt more holes into my wallet... LOL! :P

However I loved attending weddings, everyone all dressed up in their best dresses and suits coming together to celebrate the LOVE of newly wed couples... :P You see different wedding themes, the wonderful bridal photos on display and the bride in their lovely wedding gowns, well like what many says.... you only get to do this once, so do it your BEST! That's the reason why weddings seems competitive all the time... hahahaha! And the bridal shops are making TONS of money! I should also consider opening one! :P

Journey @ Brooklyn Bridge, New York!

Location: Brooklyn Bridge @ New York City (Manhattan–Brooklyn)

YIPPEE! Short working week and here comes Saturday again! In fact a special Saturday cause it's dearie's BIG day! We celebrated over dinner yesterday night due to a wedding function later tonight.... anyway back to New York - my fav travelling spot thus far! :)

After lunch at Chinatown and fully re-energized to fulfill our journey walking the long Brooklyn Bridge!

The Brooklyn Bridge is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States, stretching close to 6,000 feet over the East River, connecting the New York City boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn.

YES you heard me, we walked all the way across the bridge under the hot sun and oh boy my poor feet couldn’t bear it any more.

The beginning... We were of course excited initially but was soon overwhelmed by the distance... LOL! :P

Checkpoint which we stopped at the center of the bridge and took wonderful photos.. the architechure was simply lovely! :)

Tour at Chinatown and Little Italy @ New York!

OMG back to work once again today!!!!!!! :P I MISS the HOLIDAYS! When is the next holiday coming by again?

Back to more New York post, I have sooo many pending blog post to complete... tsk tsk...

After Wall Street, we made our way through Little Italy before settling down for lunch at Chinatown!

Little Italy is a neighborhood in lower Manhattan, New York City, once known for its large population of Italians.

You see many restaurants and cafes selling traditional pasta and pizzas! :)

After some quick shoot @ Little Italy, we were hungry and decided to head over to Chinatown scounting for some Chinese delicacies... :)

I saw a cute doggy and took a few shots! LOL! :)

The friendly owner actually stopped by the road and decided to let doggy pose while I snapped! Such an adorable creature! :P

Finally reaching Chinatown after a 10 mins walk from Little Italy! Manhattan's Chinatown is one of the largest Chinese communities outside of Asia...

A plate of House Special Stir Fry Flat noodles... tasted like a normal plate of fry noodles, nothing special though... as usual dining @ New York can never be cheap... a plate of simple noodle cost about $ US 9 = Approx RM 32!

After lunch and reenergizing, we hit towards our journey to the famous Brooklyn Bridge up next! :) On the way we passed by the September 11 scene!

The Famous Financial District - Wall Street @ New York!

After a ferry tour via Staten Island to visit the Statue of Liberty, we made our next stop to Wall Street!

It runs east from Broadway to South Street on the East River, through the historical center of the Financial District. It is the first permanent home of the New York Stock Exchange; over time Wall Street became the name of the surrounding geographic neighborhood and attracts visitors from all over the globe throughout the year!

I just travelled home today and the first meal was our all time favorite Bak Kut Teh @ Jalan Ipoh! *slurrrppp*

Statue of Liberty @ New York!

Location: Liberty Island, New York City, New York, U.S.

On Day 4 we decided to make our way to visit the famous Statue of Liberty after breakfast session at Cafe Metro.

We headed via subway towards the ferry harbor situated at the Whitehall Street Station. The ferry ride was complimentary to Staten Island with a good view of the Statue of Liberty!

The Statue of Liberty officially titled Liberty Enlightening the World, is a monument that was presented by the people of France to the United States of America in 1886 to celebrate its independence. Standing on Liberty Island in New York Harbor, it welcomes visitors, immigrants, and returning Americans traveling by ship from over the world!

Awesome breakfast sets you get at Cafe Metro! We ate here almost every morning before departing for our adventure! The pancake set that came with fried strips of bacons, sunny side up and fruits!

Broadway @ Times Square, New York!

I MISS BROADWAY!!! :)

Times Square is the heart of theater district!

Broadway, as its name implies is a big, wide avenue that runs the entire length of Manhattan Island in New York City. It passes through the middle of the Theater district concentrated around Times Square and has lent its name to those spectacular musical productions known as the Broadway play.

No visit to New York City would be complete without seeing at least one Broadway musical production.

There are actually three types of Theatrical productions in New York City:

Broadway plays
Off-Broadway plays
Off-off-Broadway Plays.

Tkts has a booth in the middle of Times Square that sells half-price tickets to many productions. Tickets are only available for the same day evening performances.

Be prepared to wait! There are usually long lines of people waiting to purchase tickets at 3 PM. By 5 PM the wait is very short, but the selection more limited.

We reached sharp at 3pm and saw a long queue at the tkts booth! OMG! We waited for an hour to purchase the promotional tickets!

Shake Shack @ Madison Square Park, New York!

GONE are the holidays and it’s back to Tuesday again; which can mean only one word – WORK! Good times always pass so quickly. Ok I’ve in fact checked, the next holiday will be the Raya break in September. I CAN’T WAIT!

Historic Madison Square Park is the vibrant center of Manhattan's Flatiron District offering flourishing gardens, lush lawns and cultural programs for all ages. Located on 6.2 acres between 23rd and 26th streets and Fifth and Madison avenues, the park has become an oasis for those who live and work nearby.

Since Shake Shack’s opening right in the heart of Madison Square Park in 2004, it became so popular it made the park a destination for dining.

Food goers, locals and tourists alike are lured by the tasty menu featuring frozen custard, shakes, concretes, Shack burgers, Chicago hotdogs, 'shroom burgers, and more.

I rated it one of the best burgers I’ve ever eaten and I’m craving it so much now! :)

Tada Shake Shack! We made our way via subway to feed our cravings for BURGERS! The trip there was worth it!

Look at the long long queue? People were in business suits during lunch break at the park lining up for burgers... OMG! We waited like 30 minutes or so...

Look how juicy and glorious the burger was? The bun was awesome, the beef patty was totally unbelievable, with fresh tomatoes and lettuce, topped with a thin slice of cheese and shack sauce that gives you the ultimate experience with every bite u take! :P

I'm dreaming of the Shack Burger! :)

If you're in New York, this is a must stop place for the ultimate burger experience! Next up would be the Broadway experience at Times Square! Till then happy 1st September and back to work! :)

Day 3 - Breakfast & Flatiron Bulding @ NYC!

Location: 175 Fifth Avenue, New York City

Happy Independence Day to Malaysia! :) And yes I’m thankful today is a public holiday! Off to karaoke session later in the afternoon… :)

Anyway it was raining cats and dogs on Day 3 during my trip at New York. Though it was the summer season but the bad storm seemed to be hit town that particular day. We had a good breakfast nearby the hotel and made our way to Madison Square and visited the famous Flatiron Building!

The Flatiron Building, or Fuller Building as it was originally called, is located at 175 Fifth Avenue in the borough of Manhattan. It was considered to be one of the first skyscrapers ever built before it was replaced by the Empire State Building and Chrysler building.

Upon completion in 1902 it was one of the tallest buildings in New York City. The building sits on a triangular island block at 23rd Street, Fifth Avenue, and Broadway, anchoring the south (downtown) end of Madison Square.

Beef Salami breakfast set accompanied by salad, omelete and potatoes! Awesome and it was so filling! :P

Long overdue birthday treat at Daidomon Japanese BBQ restaurant at Great Eastern Mall, Ampang. It was Saimatkong’s birthday in July; hence we headed over to the birthday boy’s choice of restaurant and had a feast!

You have so many buffet options nowadays with food goers searching for a place with good food and ambience at affordable prices.

We opted for the lunch promotion at Daidomon which was running at 50% at that time; hence it was about RM 39++ per pax. Overall I rated the food ok, the BBQ was nice but you can’t expect much from the sashimi and ala cart dishes.

Happy belated birthday to Tian Leong and hope you had a good treat! :)

Times Square @ New York City!

YIPPEE! The long weekend is finally here! :)

Happy Independence to Malaysia though I do not care much except the fact it’s a holiday on Monday! :P

So much work I hardly have time to update the foodie blog. So many pending update and I just can’t wait for my next break in September! Tsk tsk…

Back to more photos on Times Square – the most happening place in Manhattan!

Times Square is a major intersection in New York City in the borough of Manhattan and was named after the Times Building (now “One Time Square”) which was the former offices of The New York Times. It is located at Broadway and Seventh Avenue and extends from West 42nd to West 47th Streets.

People spend New Year Eve’s counting down at the famous Time Square every year. I was amazed by the wonderful lightings known as the city that never sleeps!
