Gmail Attachment Fail Solutions

Ever since Google implemented the advanced attachment features in Gmail, a lot of users have experienced problems with attaching big files to Gmail outgoing messages. Most users simply get an "Attachment Failed" red error message, and the file stops uploading.

There are several solutions for the Gmail attachment failure:

Change your connection to https: Gmail enables you to connect through a secured connection (https). This option actually solves other problems, as well, like stuck Gmail that won't load properly. To change the way you connect to Gmail, go to Settings ---> General. Under "Browser Connection" mark the option "Always use https". Scroll down and hit "Save Changes".
Remove Google Toolbar: There's a known issue with Google toolbar, Firefox and Gmail file uploads. Try uninstalling the Google toolbar, and see if it helps. Besides, what do REALLY need it for?
Change Attachment Settings: Go to Settings ---> General. Scroll to the bottom and under "Attachments" mark the option "Basic attachment features - Attach one file at a time and don't show progress bars".
Update your Flash version: The advanced attachment feature on Gmail works on Flash. Check if you have the latest version.
Check your firewall: Make sure your firewall isn't blocking Gmail on any port. There's a slim chance that this might be the problem.
Use Basic HTML on Gmail: Although this isn't an ideal solution, you might want to consider it, at least temporarily. It's a good solution especially for those working on slower, weaker computers.
Get another e-mail service: OK, I know this isn't really a solution. Still, if all else fails, you should remember that Gmail isn't the only mail service out there. You can use your own ISP e-mail or get another mail service, such as Yahoo or Hotmail. If you own your own site, your hosting will usually provide with limitless e-mail addresses and limitless e-mail storage, so use it.

Seems like Google is feeling a bit of pressure. Two weeks after the Microsoft-Yahoo search deal, Google is announcing a new-renewed search engine, code named Caffeine.

Although Google claims this is NOT a counter-move that comes as a response to any other company, it seems a bit more than a coincidence that the might search giant has chosen to release its new search engine now.

Google has been having some problems lately - some of its services weren't a big success and were closed; Google's image as a censor doesn't help either; AdSense and AdWords users are reporting problems and clashes with Google; Twitter is getting stronger and Google has no real answer to real-time searches - and much more.

The new Google search engine is still in Beta version, and Google claims that regular users might not notice the difference between the old Google and the new Caffeine. Power users, however, might see the differences in speed, accuracy, relevancy and more. Google invites users to send it feedback regarding the new search engine.

A bit of testing and tinkering with Google's new search engine revealed the following:

Caffeine is faster than the regular Google search. That might change after the entire internet will knock on its doors.
The results are displayed differently - there are more images, clips and news.
Much more Site Links.
Rankings are different. I am regularly monitoring some search terms (both in Hebrew and in English), and I could see some significant changes. SEO experts are in trouble - it seems that at least some modifications will need to be made.

The war just got more intense. It will be interesting to watch, of course.

I am a mix of old and new. I love new technology and gadgets, but I also adore antiques and retro items.

When it comes to books, I'm still old-fashioned. I love them in the form of paper, and I don't think that's going to change any time soon. Still, I really wanted a Kindle - for fun, for traveling and just to try it out.

Kindle is expensive, so I didn't rush out to buy it. Now, it seems, I will be spending my money on something else: Amazon has just done one of the most stupid things ever. It appears that the publisher of 1984 and Animal Farm changed his mind, and didn't want these books on Kindle anymore. Since a few thousand people already bought digital copies of these books for their Kindle, Amazon was faced with a problem.

And how did Amazon solve that problem, do you ask? Simple: they remotely deleted every copy of 1984 and Animal Farm from every Kindle that had them, without the owner's permission. Amazon did give the customers a refund for that deletion, but the severity of this Big Brother act remains. Amazon has simply violated the privacy of each and every customer that bought these books.

The irony doesn't escape me, either. Of all books, 1984, represents best what happens when too much control is given to the wrong people. Amazon has just lost a future Kindle customer. I'll stick to book who won't disappear on me in the middle of the night, thank you very much.

Listverse published a lovely list of 10 classic fantasy movie from the 80s.

It's good to see I'm not the only one who remembers Beastmaster, which was a very cute movie. I am also very happy with the mentioning of Labyrinth, a true childhood classic, full of fun, humor and creepy puppets.

Still, I was missing one true classic, called The Flight of Dragons - a lovely and wonderful animated movie, with dragons and magic galore.

The choice of the first place, The Princess Bride, is (of course) perfect. One of the best movies ever, one I remember by heart and can watch over and over again. A true classic.

Although the graphics are not very realistic, Cake Mania is a very appetizing game. This time management game was developed in 2006 and became a big hit - which is why it has two sequels already. Your goal is to deliver cakes to the customers, as quickly as possible and without mistakes. The cakes you deliver to your customers are very colorful and lovely, and might make you thing about chocolate frosting and the smell of a cake baking in the oven. All in all - a yummy game.

Ahhh, pizza. The ultimate junk food, the best comfort food, the food you never get tired of. That is, until you are forced to serve it to dozens of customers a day, I guess. Papa's Pizzeria is also a time management game, which you can play online. In this game, you are required to take customer's orders, make their pizza according to their specific requests, cut it nicely - and deliver it to them. You get grades according to the accuracy in which you performed all of the requests, and the tip varies accordingly. As with many other games - it starts easy and becomes very tricky as you progress.

Cooking Dash

There's no food games post without mentioning the famous Flo, I guess. Cooking Dash is yet another time management game, and is one of many sequels to Diner Dash. In Cooking Dash, you don't just serve the food - you also cook it, which makes it a very challenging game. The sounds of the kitchen realistic and it's hard to avoid thinking about deep frying, big sandwiches and sweet desserts. Cooking Dash is a fast-pace food game, for those already seasoned (ha ha) in time management games.

Sushi Go Round

This is one of the sweetest, coolest online games. I keep coming back to it, since it's always challenging and fun. In Sushi Go Round, you are serving sushi to your customers. They ask for different kinds of sushi, and you have to prepare the food, remember the recipe for each sushi piece, make sure you have enough supplies, serve the food quickly and clear the plates when the clients are done eating, so new clients can have a seat. Since the sushi is served on a conveyor belt, sometimes the dish you prepare for one customer gets snatched by another, so the fun never ends. It's a great game to take your minds off of things - unless you are craving sushi, of course.

Burger Shop is a very cool game. It's looks like a regular time management game - serve the costumers, keep them happy, be quick etc., but it has many twists and winks, and it also feature cool music and sweet graphics. It's also one of the more challenging games in the foodish games category. Play enough time, and you will seriously crave a burger. With bacon. And cheese. And everything else, too.
