PASADENA, Calif. (UPI) -- The U.S. space agency says its Phoenix Mars Lander has used an atomic force microscope to take the first-ever image of a single particle of Mars' dust.

National Aeronautics and Space Administration scientists said the rounded particle has a diameter of about one micrometer, or one millionth of a meter, and is a speck of the dust that colors the Martian sky pink and its soil a distinctive red.

"This is the first picture of a clay-sized particle on Mars, and the size agrees with predictions from the colors seen in sunsets on the Red Planet," said Phoenix Lander co-investigator Urs Staufer of the University of Neuchatel, Switzerland, who leads a Swiss consortium that made the microscope.

NASA said the atomic force microscope can detail shapes of particles as small as about 100 nanometers, which is about 100 times greater magnification than seen with Phoenix's optical microscope.

Mars' ultra-fine dust is the medium that actively links gases in the Martian atmosphere to processes in Martian soil, so it is critically important to understanding that planet's environment, the researchers said.

Subject: Fw: Leptospirosis Disease

This incident happened recently in North Texas . A woman went boating one Sunday taking with her some cans of coke which she put into the refrigerator of the boat. On Monday she was taken to the hospital and placed in ICU. She died on Wednesday.

The autopsy concluded she died of Leptospirosis. This was traced to the can of coke she drank from without using a glass. Tests showed that the can was infected by dried rat urine and hence the disease Leptospirosis.

Rat urine contains toxic and deathly substances. It is highly recommended to thoroughly wash the upper part of soda cans before drinking out of them. The cans are typically stocked in warehouse s and transported straight to the shops without being cleaned.

A study at NYCU showed that the tops of soda cans are more contaminated than public toilets (i.e)... full of germs and bacteria. So wash them with water before putting them to the mouth to avoid any kind of fatal accident.

WACO, Texas (UPI) -- U.S. scientists say they've developed a theory that would allow a spacecraft to travel faster than the speed of light without breaking the laws of physics.

Baylor University Associate Professor Gerald Cleaver and graduate student Richard Obousy theorize that by manipulating the extra spatial dimensions of string theory around a spaceship with an extremely large amount of energy, it would create a "bubble" that could cause the ship to travel faster than the speed of light.

"Think of it like a surfer riding a wave," said Cleaver. "The ship would be pushed by the spatial bubble and the bubble would be traveling faster than the speed of light."

The researchers said their theory is based on the Alcubierre drive, which proposes expanding the fabric of space behind a ship and shrinking space-time in front of the ship. The ship wouldn't actually move, rather the ship would sit in a bubble between the expanding and shrinking space-time dimensions.

Oh yeah, I'm a www addict. You know what I mean!!! I am a world wide web addict!!I have to admit that. Sometimes I even don't have time and don't talk too much with my friends because I am always stuck in front of my computer. I took a survey about blogging before and found out that I'm 95% addicted to blogging. That is true, I think it is even worse now. Not anymore 95% but 100%. Part of my life now evolves in the cyberspace. Just last night I created three more blogs. Just check it out in a couple of days!!So that is my life, I believed it is better to share some ideas, thoughts, opinions and personal experiences here in the net than gossiping other people. well, because I just know somebody who can't keep her mouth shut-up but gossip and talking bad with other people. Not good!! I hope she learn now and have some lessons in her experiences. I would even suggest that she better zipper her mouth if she can't say good things to other people.

Great white sharks: Awesome 1.8-ton bites

SYDNEY (UPI) -- Australian scientists say they've determined the bite force of a great white shark can reach about 1.8 tons, 20 times greater than a human's bite.

University of New South Wales researchers said, by comparison, a large African lion can produce only about 1,235 pounds of bite force.

Led by paleontologist and biomechanist Steve Wroe, the scientists used computer modeling to study the skull of an 8-foot-long male great white shark.

"Pound for pound the great whites' bite is not particularly impressive, but the sheer size of the animal means that in absolute terms it tops the scales," said Wroe.

But as powerful as great white sharks are, they pale when compared with the extinct great white shark Carcharodon megalodon -- which lived approximately 18 million years ago and might have grown to about 60 feet in length and weighed up to 100 tons -- arguably the most formidable carnivore to have ever existed on Earth, the researchers said.

Wroe and colleagues estimate the bite force of the megalodon at between 10.8 and 18.2 tons, at least 30 times that of the largest living great whites.

The research is to appear in the Journal of Zoology.

I hate Spider Webs!!

I really don't hate spiders but I hate their webs. I just don't like it especially if I happen to touch it. As I came back from vacation in USA, our house have lots of spider webs anywhere. I don't can blame my husband because he go to work all the time and don't have enough time to clean the house. Now that I am back,I'm cleaning the house slowly by slowly like I did yesterday. But I guess next time before we go to a long vacation, I will put some spider traps already to avoid too much spiders and cobwebs at home. I am still wide awake. My back pain is getting better and almost gone now. A very interesting Chinese movie is on TV right now so while in front of my PC, I am watching/listening to the TV once in a while. It is a movie about Chinese history and its dynasty.
