I'm very tired. VBS day four is in the books. Only one more day to go. Tomorrow is suppose to be the big water fight. At games, we had the kids crossing the Red Sea with Moses. Of course this involved water! The kids got a little wet, but the crew leaders REALLY got wet! Buckets of water were thrown by the adults. I agree, we did get a little out of control at times, but it was all in the spirit of fun.

After games, we went into the AC.... Yep, that was cold. I must say, many of us were rethinking our decision to get completely soaking wet.

I was almost dry by closing songs.

After VBS, I picked up a pizza and headed home to feed the family.

Good night,

-Andy

Jen and Andyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01041141324334648401noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7248570.post-78031042566866574382009-07-07T23:15:00.000-05:002009-07-08T08:24:11.037-05:00VBS Day #2Hello all,

What a great night to be at Good Shepherd UMC! The music was great and the group is really starting to learn the songs for Crocodile Dock. I have given my group of kids the team name of "Ice Cream Team". This makes it easy for them to know when I am addressing them directly. Other teams have to say "My Red Team..." All I have to say is "Ice Cream Team, stand-up. Get into a straight line..." It is great. I'm one of a handful of men that are team leaders. I must say that the guys have a strategic advantage. Our voices are louder and the kids can hear us over the other noise in the church.

The day was over at 8:30. I had to run to Price Chopper to get some stuff for Jen's office's food day tomorrow. After that, I made it home to eat dinner and watch The Deadliest Catch on Discovery.

It's getting late. I'm heading to bed.

-Andy

Jen and Andyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01041141324334648401noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7248570.post-55296159507086131622009-07-07T10:00:00.000-05:002009-07-07T10:01:23.071-05:00VBS Day #1Hello all,

VBS is officially started. The weather did not cooperate today for many firework displays. The rains have been falling on and off for most of the day. However, there are some diehard pyromaniacs that are determined to blow stuff up tonight.

-Andy

Jen and Andyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01041141324334648401noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7248570.post-19488557616584829352009-07-03T09:57:00.000-05:002009-07-07T09:57:22.160-05:00Day OffI spent most of my morning playing Tiger Woods golf while the family slept. It is nice to be able to get an escape for a while and just pretend to be a good as my animated character is at the game. I would love to be able to hit the ball 300 yards on a line and always be in the fairway. Unfortunately, my real golf game is NOTHING like the game I have online.

-Andy

Jen and Andyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01041141324334648401noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7248570.post-33598350490603561382009-07-02T09:55:00.000-05:002009-07-07T09:55:20.844-05:00Golf DayHello all,

Today our hallways were converted into 18 holes of a miniature golf course. Each hole was designed by a row of the floor. Some holes were elaborate; others were simply a cup at the end of the row. I will say our row had the most moving parts. It was a Par 3. The hole was laid out with Hot Wheels racetrack that elevated to go through Batman’s cave and finally fall into the cup. The player had to stand at one of three tee boxes. The first was two feet away from the start of the track. The second was four feet. The final tee was eight feet away from the mouth of the race track. The track had a small funnel that would help guide the ball onto the track if hit close enough. Any other shot would ricochet off and the player would be in a bad position for their second shot.

Once on the track, the ball had to have enough momentum to travel 30 feet of track. There was one section of the hole were the ball had to travel two feet on it own and then return to the track. This was the second place where golfers could get into trouble. From this location, the ball had to elevate and make it into Batman’s cave and finally drop into the cup. It was a great hole. Jarrod, Sugi and I enjoyed making it.

-Andy

Jen and Andyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01041141324334648401noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7248570.post-41415107117211999732009-07-01T09:45:00.000-05:002009-07-07T09:45:27.816-05:00Year Half OverHello all,

The year is half over! It was 75 at lunch today. It is hard to believe that it was over 105 with the heat index last week. I should mow the yard tonight. I'm sure I'll find something better to do with my time at home.

-Andy

Jen and Andyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01041141324334648401noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7248570.post-3849425748054518002009-06-29T09:44:00.000-05:002009-07-07T09:44:41.233-05:00Zac's GameHello all,

It was a good night for a ball game. The weather was hot and the kids were ready to play. Zac played well. His team is learning as they get more exposure to the game. I can see that Zac is ready for coach pitch now. T-ball is becoming too frustrating for him.

-Andy

Jen and Andyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01041141324334648401noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7248570.post-12566289887921708402009-06-28T09:43:00.000-05:002009-07-07T09:44:15.718-05:00LaundryHello all,

This is getting old, but it is true. The main focus of the day was to get through the laundry for last week. We went to the pool for an hour this afternoon, but believe it or not, it was cold. A cold front moved through last night and it was only 75° F at 3:00!

-Andy

Jen and Andyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01041141324334648401noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7248570.post-1888075753069114472009-06-27T09:43:00.000-05:002009-07-07T09:43:44.504-05:00To the pool my son...Hello all,

What is a father and son to do on a lazy Saturday afternoon when the girls are at a baby-shower? Of course, go to the pool and splash around. Why not! It was 103 heat index today and the pool was the perfect answer to the heat. Zac and I went down the slide and splashed around in the kid area. I enjoyed the big bucket being dropped and splashing us. After two hours of sun and fun, it was time to head home and give Zac a haircut and a shower before the girls came home.

-Andy

Jen and Andyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01041141324334648401noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7248570.post-48999868583582551152009-06-26T09:43:00.000-05:002009-07-07T09:43:17.364-05:00Late Night MowingHello all,

You know it is hot outside when most of the neighbors start mowing at 8:00 at night. Yes, I was one of them. I mowed the back yard first and then mowed the front yard by street light. Ali and Zac came out to find me with their flashlights at 9:00. They said they were worried about me. I think they just wanted to come outside with Ali's Girl Scout crank flashlight. Needless to say, they found me easily and their universe was in balance.

-Andy

Jen and Andyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01041141324334648401noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7248570.post-34913084427434121842009-06-25T09:42:00.000-05:002009-07-07T09:42:52.414-05:00Still HotHello all,

This is the fourth day of 100+ heat in the KC area. I am VERY glad that we had our AC system overhauled before the heat hit us. I can only imagine how uncomfortable it would be in our house if we had not made these changes.

-Andy

Jen and Andyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01041141324334648401noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7248570.post-37609163241088312412009-06-24T09:42:00.000-05:002009-07-07T09:42:28.913-05:00T-Ball GameHello all,

Zac's T-ball game was rained out in the 2nd inning. A storm front was moving into the area and in the event of safety, the game was called. There were several kids on the field that were scared by the approaching thunderstorm. The clouds did look menacing. It was starting to sprinkle as we drove away. The family headed to Margaritas for dinner and watch the Royals game on the TV's.

-Andy

Jen and Andyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01041141324334648401noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7248570.post-82964767824814731132009-06-23T09:41:00.000-05:002009-07-07T09:42:02.222-05:00Hello all,

It has been a wasted two days of my life. C.M. Mose is putting new ductwork in the attic today and an additional cold air return duct in the basement tomorrow. It is amazing how much cooler the house is with only 50% of the work complete. I can't wait to see how it will effect our cooling and heating bills for the next year!

-Andy

Jen and Andyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01041141324334648401noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7248570.post-29589586813077732942009-06-17T09:39:00.000-05:002009-07-07T09:39:34.375-05:00Not The Best DayHello all,

Today was not the best day for Ms. Alexandria. She was dismissed from Girl Scout Camp today for throwing a fit about not wanting to build a rocket and making a stepping stone. It was all predicated upon her not getting enough sleep last night. I take partial responsibility for her mood. We did stay out at the game too long last night; however, when given the choice of going to camp or staying home, she chose camp. I hope tomorrow is a better day for Ms. Ali.

Zac had a great day at school. He is enjoying the additional time with his friends and is learning a lot. He is reading more books at home which is a pleasant surprise. My mom came down to watch Zac's T-ball game tonight. In the first inning, he was the catcher. He didn't really like being the catcher. He had to put on the helmet on the hottest day of the Summer! It was 94 at the start of the game.

In the second inning, he played 3rd base and recorded 5 outs. Both teams bat through the order to make sure everyone gets a fair chance to play. At his two at bats he hit the first to left field and the second up the middle to center. Way to go little man!

Good night,

-Andy

Jen and Andyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01041141324334648401noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7248570.post-31406466663898560792009-06-16T09:38:00.000-05:002009-07-07T09:39:06.209-05:00Royals Win!Hello all,

Wow, what a great game tonight! Gil Meche pitched a complete game shutout! It took him 132 pitches to get it done (10 to the last batter), but he got it done. The family was really cheering him on tonight. Ali and Zac both were very excited to get out to the ballpark tonight and make some noise.

We listened to the post-game broadcast on the way home from the K. The town is starting to buzz again about the team. A four game winning streak will do that to people. I hope that our Ace Zac can pitch well tomorrow and extend this winning streak to five games. Who knows, after that anything is possible.

Ali had her first day of Girl Scout Day Camp today. It was swimming day. She had a blast and enjoyed her time with all of her friends. She is always very excited to b with the troop over the Summer. Tomorrow morning may be difficult to get her up after a late night!

Good-night,

-Andy

Jen and Andyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01041141324334648401noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7248570.post-42120531607128011662009-06-15T09:38:00.000-05:002009-07-07T09:38:42.953-05:00Baseball Rain outHello all,

The wet weather has continued to stay in the area. Zac's T-ball game was rained out tonight. It is a bummer since Larry and Patty-Ann were planning on coming up to see the game tonight. I guess we will just need to find something to do at the house to keep us busy while it rains.

-Andy

Jen and Andyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01041141324334648401noreply@blogger.com0
