Here's the latest MIMOBOT design -- a collaboration with the Ford Fiesta Movement, special agent Bliss Dennen.

I'm really pleased with the way it came out -- looks like the Ford Fiesta car, but at the same time it looks like a cute robot when standing up...it has character, dammit. :)

This is an old, old ghetto "short" I did for one of my foundation courses during my first year at art school. It was a great introduction into the world of sound editing, filming scenes in pieces, and making a set -- hah!

The purpose of the project was to re-interpret an artist that you liked. Mine was Takashi Murakami, hence the 'shrooms.

What Newspaper Cartoonists Can Learn from Web Comics

Earlier this month, Randall Munroe, creator of the hugely popular web comic xkcd, announced on his blog that he would be publishing a book collection of the strip. Given the number of six-figure book deals that major book publishers have thrust upon popular bloggers, there's little doubt that Munroe's millions of monthly readers could have easily garnered him a similar signing. Gives me some much-needed ideas + inspiration as I'm shifting away from pursuing traditional print media, which is hard because that's supposed to be the measure of "making it", right? Well, time to re-think what it means by "making it."

ASPIRE Conference

Guess where I'll be this Saturday afternoon?

I'll be speaking on a panel called "Fearless" For ASPIRE (Asian Sisters Participating in Reaching Excellence).

Me? Fearless? There is no bravery involved whatsoever when it comes to the things I do be it with art, lion + dragon dancing, or my 30 blind dates project (which ended up being 4 because #4 ended up being the one).

I don't think about the consequences or rationalize why I should do something versus not do it. Am I scared of failing? Humiliating myself? Hey, those are a given. I just do it and deal with whatever may come my way.

Seriously, what's the use in worrying? Life doesn't last forever so I might as well make the best of what time I have...for the most part. I mean, I do have moments of absolute couch-potato-ness, don't get me wrong.

Anyhow, interesting collaborations abound.

Famed shoe maker Christian Louboutin has launched their own champagne in partnership with champagne maker Piper Heidsieck. To commemorate this, they have released a limited edition gift box containing a bottle of champagne and a glass shoe designed by Christian Louboutin. It will be exclusively available through Colette starting October 26th.

Next Hello Kitty X MIMOBOT flash drive drops -- Hello Kitty X!

Yay -- the next character in the Hello Kitty X MIMOBOT Series has been revealed!

It was a lot of fun coming up with Hello Kitty X in the Hello Kitty suit and quite the challenge. How could we remain true to the character and yet be able to incorporate our shapes as well? Put her in her own suit for double the kitty fun!

As a Sanrio fan and borderline fanatic, this is a project that I more than loved working on. In heaven? Need you even ask?

So get Apple, Fun in Fields, and/or X -- you'll make Sanrio happy; Mimoco happy; and, ME happy! :D And, oh yeah, you will have the coolest Hello Kitty flash drive in existence.

tokidoki X Karl Lagerfeld

Wow to the tokidoki X Karl Lagerfeld collaboration -- something that was totally unexpected. I mean, Karl Lagerfeld and toy collaborations? But I guess it's something that he's been doing lately.

Tokidoki, the Italian Manga inspired label, is about to release a new Karl Lagerfeld mini collectible figure. The figure comes in the full Karl outfit, is limited to 1000 pieces and will go for around 190 USD upon release this Holiday season. The figure will be available at Tokidoki flagship stores in New York, Milan and Los Angeles, as well as at specialty retailers such as colette. The K Collection by Karl Lagerfeld will also come out with matching t-shirts, featuring the character version of the designer.

Tempted to get this book, which would be fantastic reference material of course! Cost? $35 smackers.

OMG! My heart melted when I saw this illustration. Everything about it is absolutely wonderful -- the use of space, the cropping of the images, the muted colors...and the style!
