WELL HERE IT IS CHRISTMAS DAY AND AS USUALL SANTA HAS DROPPED OF MORE THAN I EXPECTED BUT SINCE I WAS AN EXTRA GOOD BOY THIS YEAR NOT AS MUCH AS I FIGURE I SHOULD GET, THAT'S LIFE OR AS THE FRENCH SAY "C'EST L 'VIE". THAT'S ALL I WILL SAY ABOUT THIS SUBJECT BUT I WILL TRY NOT TO BE SO GOOD IN '06. HOPE YOU ALL GOT LOTS OF GOODIES FROM THE OL' FELLOW WITH THE WHITE BEARD.

I HAD A REAL GOOD CHRISTMAS SEASON WITH MY SANTA PROJECT EXCEEDING EVEN MY WILDEST DREAMS & KNOWING THEIR ARE 3 REAL HAPPY CHILDREN OUT THERE WHO WITH THE HELP OF A LOT OF REAL GOOD PEOPLE HAD A SUPER CHRISTMAS. NICE TO GET UP THIS MORNING KNOWING THEY ARE ENJOYING SANTA'S VISIT AND PLAYING WITH THEIR NEWS TOYS. THEY WILL ALSO BE SETTING DOWN TO A NICE DINNER OF TURKEY & VEGGIES IF THEIR MOM CAN GET THEM TO STOP PLAYING LONG ENOUGH TO EAT.

jUST LIKE TO SAY THANKS TO THE TOTAL STRANGERS WHO MADE THIS ALL POSSIBLE BY SENDING ME MONEY TO HELP MAKE THIS A CHRISTMAS THE BOYS WILL NEVER FORGET. TICKETS SALES ON THE MONEY TREE ARE BEYOND WHAT I THOUGHT WAS POSSIBLE. SO FAR WE HAVE MADE ENOUGH MONEY TO SEND 4 ATHELETS TO THE CANADIAN SUMMER SPECIAL OLYMPICS IN BRANDON, MANITOBA. THEY WILL BE GOING IN JULY 2006 AND I HAVE GREAT HOPES FOR THEM. I WANT THEM TO GO, MEET NEW FRIENDS, HAVE A GOOD TIME, REPRESENT PEI PROUDLY, AND GIVE THEIR BEST PREFORMANCE. IF THEY DO ALL THIS THAN THEY WILL COME HOME WINNERS IN MY BOOK, IF THEY HAPPEN TO WIN A MEDAL THAN THAT WILL BE A BONUS. I FIND THAT WAY TO MUCH BEING MADE ABOUT WINNING EVEN AT THIS LEVEL BUT THE ATHELETS KNOW BETTER AND CAN TEACH A LOT OF US THE MEANING OF COMPETING.

I AM A LITTLE WEARY BUT HAD A WONDERFUL 3 DAYS BY SELLING MORE THAN $7OO.00 WORTH OF TICKETS AND SINCE WE STARTED 2 WEEKS AGO WE HAVE CLEARED OVER $13OO.00. AT $5OO.00 PER ATHELET TO GET TO BRANDON BY SATURDAY I HOPE TO HAVE MADE ENOUGH MONEY TO SEND 3 TO THE GAMES. WE STILL HAVE A WAYS TO GO AS WE HAVE 15 GOING FROM THIS AREA & NEED $75OO.00 ALL TOLD. I PURCHASED $209.00 WORTH OF SCRATCH & WIN TICKETS, STUCK THEM ON A TREE SHAPED THING I HAD FROM BEFORE, GOT A BUNCH OF TICKETS PRINTED UP & WENT DOWN TO A MALL YESTERDAY TO SELL TICKETS ON THE MONEY TREE. I WAS IN THE MALL FROM 9:30 TO 3:30 AND SOLD $203.00 WORTH OF TICKETS. THE WHOLE COST WAS &238.69 SO IT IS ALMOST PAID FOR AND WE WILL NOT DRAW FOR THE TREE UNTIL VALENTINES DAY ON FEB. 14, 2006. I HAVE 4 MORE DATES AT LEAST BEFORE CHRISTMAS & HAVE NOT DECIDED WHAT DATES WE WILL USE IN JA. OR FEB.

WELL HERE I AM AGAIN A LITTLE LATER THAN I PLANNED BUT AS I SAID IN THE TITLE BETTER LATE THAN NEVER. NO EXCUSES TODAY JUST I AM INVOLVED IN A LOT OF THINGS NOW AND JUST DIDN'T TAKE THE TIME LIKE I SHOULD. HARD TO BELIEVE BUT I REALLY ENJOY DOING MY BLOG BUT IF I DON'T GET MORE REGULAR I WILL LOSE THE FEW READERS I HAVE NOW.

TODAY I AM GOING TO WRITE ABOUT A SUBJECT THAT IS NEAR & DEAR TO MY HEART, "SPECIAL OLYMPIANS." AS SOME OF YOU KNOW I HAVE BEEN INVOLVED WITH SPECIAL OLYMPICS FOR THE PAST 3 YEARS NOW AS A DIRECTOR OF THE PROVINCAL BOARD. WELL THIS PAST SPRING I HEARD THAT HERE IN MY HOME TOWN THEY HAD NO ONE TO COACH THE LOCAL OLYMPIANS WHO WANTED TO PLAY SOFTBALL AND THEREFORE THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO TRY OUT FOR THE TEAM THAT IS GOING TO THE CANADIAN SPECIAL OLYMPICS BEING HELD IN BRANDON, MANITOBA SUMMER '06. I SAID IF NO ONE ELSE IS AVAILABLE I WOULD WITH HELP COACH THE TEAM AS IT WAS NOT FAIR THEY WOULD NOT HAVE A CHANCE TO TRY OUT FOR THE TEAM. WITH THE HELP OF 2 OTHER WONDERFUL PEOPLE I SPENT ONE OF THE BEST SUMMERS I HAVE HAD IN A LONG TIME. IN THE END WE HAD 4 PLAYERS TRY OUT TO GO TO BRANDON AND I AM MOST PROUD TO ANNOUMNCE 2 MADE IT. I WOULD LIKE TO SAY MY FINE COACHING HAD A LOT TO DO WITH IT BUT TO BE HONEST AND LIKE I TOLD THE 2 PLAYERS, IF I HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH THEIR SUCCESS I AM OVERJOYED BUT THE MAIN REASON THEY MADE THE TEAM WAS MOSTELY BECAUSE OF THEIR BALL SKILL AND TALENT.

I ALSO GOT TO GO TO NEW BRUNSWICK WITH A SOFTBALL TEAM TO COMPETE AT THE NB PROVINCIAL GAMES. PEI SENT 2 TEAMS, THE OTHER ONE WON SILVER & THE TEAM I WAS WITH WON BRONZE, MY FIRST METAL FROM THE SPECIAL OLYMPICS AND I COULDN'T BE PROUDER IF IT WAS A RING FOR WINNING THE WORLD SERIES. WHAT A WEEK-END, NEVER GOT SO MANY HUGS & HIGH 5 IN ALL MY LIFE. IF YOU COULD SEE WHAT THESE SPECIAL PEOPLE HAVE TO GO THROUGH JUST TO TRY TO DO THE NORMAL THINGS WE TAKE FOR GRANTED YOU WOULD BE TRULEY AMAZED TO SEE THE EFFORT THEY GIVE TO BE INVOLVED IN SPORTS. THEY ARE A COACHES DREAM BECAUSE THEY LEAVE IT ALL ON THE FIELD AND NEVER GIVE UP BUT WHEN THE GAME IS OVER THEY CAN'T WAIT TO MEET THE OTHER TEAM & SHAKE HANDS. NO WORRYING ABOUT WINNING OR LOSING JUST THE JOY OF COMPETING & DOING THEIR BEST, SPORT AT IT'S FINEST.

COULD GO ON FOREVER ABOUT THESE SPECIAL ATHELETS BUT DON'T WANT TO BORE YOU, JUST IF YOU HAVE SPECIAL ATHELETS IN YOUR AREA WHY NOT GO OUT AND WATCH THEM SOMETIME. THE ATHELETS WILL APPRECIATE IT AND YOU CAN SEE WHAT SPORTS SHOULD BE ALL ABOUT. BETTER YET GET INVOLVED AS I KNOW HERE ON GOOD OL' P.E.I. WE ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR HELP & I KNOW THAT IF YOU DO YOU WILL WANT TO THANK ME FOR THE IDEA AS YOU WILL NEVER DO ANYTHING THAT WILL BRING MORE JOY TO YOUR LIFE. ROAST BEEF FOR SUPPER

Here it is Saturday and I am home doing my blog, one of the many joys of enjoying a well decerved retirement. With this part of your life you pretty well get to do what you want when you want if you do not get too tied up in joining voulinteer groups which I have been doing lately but have decided to do a little less for others and a little more for me. Not being self centered just I was too busy and it was starting to be like work with not to much joy. I spent 3 months with a couple of friends working on a project for a group and had someone come in at the last minute, shanghi my work & change it around to their idea. Kind of PO'd me and they will need help down the road as his new plan will not work and as much as I think of the group if I am ask the answer in a resounding "NO". So much for that now I got it off my mind I feel better, thanks for the ear folks.

It is 1:05PM here and at 2;00PM I will be putting a roast of beef in the oven for supper, with luck Mary will be home to finish it up as I will cook it but she will make the gravy and put the finishing touched on it. The first 3 years I was retired I not only did a lot of cooking but also baking. I still cook a bit but have gave up the baking. I was not all that bad but since I am diabetic and Mary is on a perminant diet it does not get ate so what the hell. The second Christmas I was home I made about 6 different squares & 4 different cookies but most never got eat, not only a waste of time but a waste of money. I don't mind doing something if it gets used or appreciated.
Now back to my roast, I will peel 3 onions, slice them and stick them on the roast with toothpicks as we find it not only gives the roast a good flavor but also makes a big difference in the gravy. I will also slice up some mushroons for the gravy as I think the best gravy in the world is mushroon, onion, beef gravy and it is never better than when it is served over the world's best PEI potatoes. Wish you were all here to share it with me as I swear that Mary makes the best gravy in the world and it is so good that it should be shared. I believe all good things should be shared as I think that it would bring us all together as a people.

Another amazing fact I read the other day is there is enough food in the world so that there is no need for anyone to be hungry, just not enough money to buy it. This is sad as I know on PEI the last few years potatoes were not worth very much and no one wanted to buy them even though the price was so low. In the spring a few were given to the local food bank and the rest were plowed under in the fields. Too bad some group could not have chartered some boats and give them to some hungry people in need.

Gas & heating oil prices have gone up to where I don't know how shareholder in the big oil companys can sleep night knowing this winter way too many people will have to make a choice whether to eat or be warm and I am not fooling. The local food banks are already in trouble so many people are lining up for food, they now only provide enough food for each family to last 3 days each month, better than nothing but we as a people should do better. I saw in the paper today that PEI residents donated over $60,000.oo to hurrican relief in USA. It is a wonder gesture but when we have children going to bed & getting up the next day & going to school without breakfast here in PEI I think we want to review our priorities. USA is the richest country in the world and they should be looking after their own as we should be doing here in Canada as we have the resorces to do it. For 3'rd world countries we should be doing a lot more than the exploitation we are doing now. Child labor at very little pay, long hours, no benefits, but good for the bottom line for the owners & stores who buy the stuff to sell to a willing customer. The next time you buy something from an overseas sweat shop think just how lucky you are your children are not workers there.
Well I guess that is my rant for today & before you think I am all mouth & no action I have found a family of 4 that needs a hand up this Christmas so I will adopt them this year with some help from some special people. I am hoping to have a benefit concert for the food bank in Jan. or Feb. time frame, would have it sooner but local letter carriers had a drive in last 3 weeks and collected well over $20,000.oo worth of food. We should all do our part to make our little part of the world special and a wonderful place for all to live.

Sorry to be late with this addition of my blog but again I have been as busy as a kittie with the poopies and two butts trying to dig enough holes to stay ahead of the demand. You are not supposed to be this busy after you retire, the only difference between being retired and working is when you work you get paid.

Had a crappy weekend here weather wise as we had over 3 inches of rain or to be political correct 84.3 MM. We had no floods as the soil is very good here to absorbe water as you can't find a rock in PEI that wasn't imported from somewhere else. Some parts of NS had over 9 inches of rain that caused flooding and washed out some roads. Today is a beautiful fall day with a little breeze and beautiful sun.

I am patently waiting for the leaves to change so I can get some pics. If I knew how I would post them here for all to enjoy, maybe "FRANKIE" or "CALI" could be enticed to show me how, if not I will put them on "DOT PHOTO" and give invites to anyone who might like to view them. It is really beautiful here on Prince Edward Island all year round whether summer or whatever season and I must get my butt going and get some more pics. Some people including I believe that P.E.I. really means Pretty Every Inch and hopefully in the near future I will have the pics here to prove it.

I am in the process of trying to collect music from PEI musicians but it is not an easy or cheap process. I go to a lot of flee markets to try to track down music by them but they are very hard to find and they are quite expensive to buy new, anywhere from $15.oo to 23.oo. They say they are so costly because of the small number made but I can buy blank CD's for .35 cents each so I guess the people making the CD's must be paid top buck.

Oh yeah We were married 41 years on monday October 10.

I am back and hope to post here on a regular basic, maybe not daily but I'm shooting for 3 times a week at best and once a week at worst.
I had a busy but good summer in so many ways that I can't wait to tell you all about it in the weeks ahead.
Went to the NB Special Olympic Summer Games as a soft ball coach and had the best time I have had in many a moon. Brought home a bronze metal.
Working on a project for SOPEI to try to raise some need funds for the best athletics in Canada.
Still walking a bit but must turn it up a lot as I am putting on the pounds and diabeties is hard to control.
Contacted by internet two old school chum I havn't heard fron in about 40 years.
Much more happened since I write last in my blog some of it interesting some of it boring but all in all it made for an interesting time.
Well that wraps up this entry, hope to get all my readers back as it is like having friends I havn't met yet.

SUZIE ALSO BROUGHT HOME MEDALS FROM THOSE GAMES AND I REMEMBER HOW HAPPY I WAS FOR HER AT THE TIME. HOW I COULD MISS THAT YESTERDAY IS UNEXCUSABLE SO ALL I CAN DO IS SAY SORRY SUZIE.

P.E.I. SENT TWO ATHLETES TO THE WORLD SPECIAL OLYMPICS IN NAGANO, JAPAN WHO JUST RETURNED TO PEI IN THER PAST TWENTY-FOUR HOURS. THESE VERY SPECIAL PEOPLE ARE ROSE MacDONALD OF MORELL AND MICHAEL MORRIS OF STRATFORD. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME PEI HAS SENT ANY SPECIAL OLYMPIANS TO THE WORLD GAMES AND BOTH ROSE & MICHAEL DID US PROUD.

ROSE WAS ENTERED IN FREESTYLE NORDIC SKIING AND WON A BRONZE MEDAL IN THE 1 KM RACE. JUST TO PROVE THAT IT WAS NOT A FLUKE SHE THAN WENT OUT AND WON A GOLD MEDAL IN THE 500 METER RACE.

MICHAEL WAS ENTERED IN FREESTYLE NORDIC SKIING AND WON A SILVER MEDAL IN THE 500 METER RACE. HE THAN FINISHED HIS EVENTS WITH A SILVER MEDAL IN THE 4 X 1KM RACE.

PEI IS SO PROUD OF THESE TWO ATHELETS AND THEIR ACCOMPLISHMENTS. THEY ARE SPECIAL PEOPLE IN ALL ASPECTS OF THEIR LIFE AND EITHER ONE IS A REAL ROLE MODEL FOR PEOPLE TO EMINULATE.

CONGRATS ROSE AND MICHAEL, TAKE A FEW DAYS OFF TO REST AND ENJOY YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS.

ANYONE WANT THE FLU?

Early last week I was feeling out of sorts but since I had my flu shots and have not had as much as a cold for the last 6 years I didn't give it too much thought. Well on Friday I really started to feel terrible and developed a very bad cold (what is a good cold?). Being male I lived up to the male code and laid in bed all weekend and moaned & groaned, can't let my fellow man down. My wife asked why men go on so much when they have a cold and woman hardly ever complain, tried to explain to her that the only thing I could think of was men must get a much more serious strain of illinesses than woman do. Can't say for sure that I have convienced her of the truth of that statement, not too sure if I even want to try again. This theory does answer the question she asked but not everyone believes this I am afraid to say.
Well here it is Monday and I lived through the weekend and figure I will be back to my version of normal by mid week.
When I get out I am going to the Med center here in S'side and get my money back for my flu shot as this year it did not work. Someone tried to tell me that the shot was free this year which is only partially true as you had to pay a $8.00 instulation charge to the nurse who admin the shot.
Well I have finished the first month of my exexcise to ship up and lose weight and I will announce the results shortly. I must admit because of my being sick I missed 4 days of walking which I sure could have used. Hopefully I will be back on my feet and walking before the week is out. Now that the cold weather seems to be over I hope to do more walking outdoors, I go down to the waterfront place mall every morning about 6:15 AM when the weather is cold, seems the older I get the more the cold bothers me.
Now for the results.
I lost 3 LBS in Feburary.
I walked 173.4 KM in February.
Now the reasons for the little success I had in February:
(1) I missed 4 days walking due to ilness, I know I could have made 200 KM. I just started walking again in Feb after taking near a year off and wanted to start easy as to keep the aches and pain to a minimun. I plan on doing at least 300 KM a month soon and hopefully more.
(2) I know 3 LBS a month will not get me in the waight watchers hall of fame but I find the faster I lose it the quicker I put it on. Besides I don't do starving well.
Next month I will update you on how I did in March.

YES AND NO OR WHAT IF?

Today will be about a variety of subjects about I the ol' fart. A chance for all you people to get to know me a little better.

I will start by saying that I am a true Gimini in every meaning of the word. I was born around the end of May so I have been told I have some of Taurus traits like bull headed but back to what a real Gimini is like. My favorite answer to a question used to be, "yes & no". The reason for this is when I look at a problem I seem to see both sides of the answer. If I just said "yes" or "no" and gave a quick answer than after when I thought about it a little more I quite often changed my answer. I had a friend and this used to bug the hell out of her and she used to call me "wishy washie". I tried to convience her that after sober second thought it was possible that you could change your mind. That is when I did away with the "yes & no" answer and tried not to answer too quick. The sign for us Gimini's is twins and I claim that is why I see most things from both sides.

As I have stated before I really love and enjoy music of most types but I perfer Country & Western. Whenever I am at my PC I always have music running in the background in fact I purchased a "pc net stereo" from sony about 6 months ago. It is hooked to my PC by USB cable and any music I get from my PC is played through my stereo. I have all my CD's on my hard drive and listen to them through my sterio as it sound so much better. I also listen to internet radio and some sites where you share music and can listen to other peoples music collection. I like the way it works and all it can do. Well the reason I started this section on music is to finally reveal to the world one of the major dissapointments in my life. All my life I have always looked up to singers and musicians and so wanted to be part of this elite group. Well I can tell you I could not carry a note if it had a handle on it and someone put it in a bucket for me. My family tree back at least 300 years has not one bit of musicas talent, and that goes for both my mother and fathers. Bad enough 1 side of the old tree but to get it from both sides is not fair. Well that has been a real sad part of my life, whereas for most of my life I have been real happy with what has happened to me. I have always tried to imagine what it would be like to have the ability to entertain people if I had of been blessed with musical talent. Well everyone I can tell you that my wishes are starting to come true. The other morning as I looked in the mirror I could plainly see that I was getting "LYALL LOVETTS" hair. Not too sure that this is what I wanted but if I keep the faith "GOD" only knows where my talents will take me next.

THOUGHTS FOR A WINTER DAY.

Starting today and out of respect and caring for ol' farts like I, my blogs will now be done in huge fonds, not that our eyes are getting bad. No that is not the problem and after much research I have found the problem and it is not our fault so I will now give you the answer to this and put blame truly where it lays. Stop and think about it and you will notice what my research has shown. Light bulbs are not as strong as they used to be and no matter how good your eyes are it is not easy to see in a dark room. I first noticed this about 15 years ago and find that light bulbs are getting dimmer each year. Just a plan to get us ol' farts out of the work force early to cut our pensions and not have to treat us with the respect we should be due for all our hard over the years. I have even gone as far as to buy a 200 watt light bulb but even that one wasn't bright enough for me to read without my glasses. I was not suprised as this is what I expected from my research. I think that us ol' farts will have to form a lobby group to make everyone aware what corperate Canada is doing to us. That is all I can tell you for now as the rest is a secret and I wouldn't want to have to eliminate someone who became aware of this info. There will be more on this very important info in the days & weeks ahead.
If anyone believes any part of the above story please let me know immediately as I have 2 bridges and some real nice oceanfront property in Alberta that is not selling as fast as I would like. I watch a bit of TV and think the Cialis add for men has to be one of the funniest ones I have seen in years. Let me explain if you have not seen the add.
It is a pill for that dreaded male afflection called ED or erectile difficulties or something like or at least you know what I mean.
Well where I get the laugh is at the end where they warn that if an erection lasts over 4 hours to please go phone your dr. In most houses the wife would be on the phone to "Ripleys believe it or not" or "Strange but true." The hubby would be calling the "Guiness book of world records" or "how do they do that?"

Not to much more I want to say today just hope you all have a real good one and the ol' fart will be getting back to you before you are ready for me.

THOUGHTS FOR A WINTERS DAY.

As nice a day as yesterday was, today is just about the opposite. Cloudy, damp, & just plain miserable but since this is Feb. that should be expected. There is only one good thing I can think about for the month of Feb. is that it is short. If they had to shorten a month to even out the calender thank heavens they choose Feb and not one of our summer months. That is all I will say about Feb. or I might start using 4 letter words.

Well I have started walking again and that is not a good thing if you see what is going on around you. Go for a walk some time and watch some of the antics that drivers pull, really makes you shake your head and wonder what our enforcement people do most of the time. No one stops for stop signs or to make a right turn on a red unless there is traffic on the street on which they are turning on, we like to refer to it as slow & go. If they do stop they stick the nose of their car out on the street and blocks the crosswalk. God forbid you want to cross a busy street at a crosswalk. When a traffic lite turns yellow you can hear the cars reving up so they will get through and not have to wait for the next green. In S'side the average red light lasts between 40 & 55 seconds so they must really be busy to risk an accident and pain to save that little time. You can count on at least 3 cars flying through yellow and a lot of times 1 or 2 through red. I don't know about your part of the world but here in S'side yellow is considered a faster form of green.

You have all heard of road rage well here in S'side if drivers don't smarten up and start letting me cross at crosswalks and stop blocking crosswalks when stopped comming out of a side street we are going to see our first case of walker rage. Maybe this is what we need to make the streets of S'side safe for the people who walk to try to improve their health. Not much sence in walking or jogging for your health if some dumn driver is going to run over you.

From todays paper: "In Headingley Manitoba a man trying to finish the flooring in the nursery of his home ended up with a 5 CM nail embedded in his head.
David boyda, 57, was using a nail gun to put down the flooring when a nail ricocheted and planted itself in his right cheek, just millimeters from his eye.
"When he came out of the room, his eye was scrunched and the nail was sticking straight out," Sheila said Sunday.
Boyda's wife was more upset that her husband, who apparently walked out of the bathroom and proclamed, "it isn't as bad as it looks." Nuff said.

ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL DAY IN PARADISE.

Today is Valentines day and I will start by wishing anyone who happens to read this post a day of love & lust which does not end untill Feb 13, 2006. Love is good, lust is good but put the both together and I can promise you that it just doesn't get any better.

A blogger friend of mine caligirl received word that her grandmother is on life support and the outlook is not good so I just want to say to Lori that my thoughts are with her and her family. My grandmother brought me up as my mother died when I was 4 years old. She died when I was in my early 40's and she is the first person really close to me who I remember dieing. I was sad and really missed her but I knew she was going to a better place and received much comfort from that thought. I still miss her and remember her but I know we will be together some day. Try to remember Lori they are in a much better place and you will get to be with them again some day.

Today was a beautiful day in S'side so I went for not one but two walks outdoors. Now that we are into mid Feb. the sun is starting to get stronger and the snow is starting to melt. The wind is still a bit cold and it was -16C today which is not that warm but dress for it and you are not cold.

A BUSY WEEK.

I had a meeting this afternoon in Ch'town and it was the 3'rd meeting I have had this week, starting to get too busy for this retired "OL' FART". The one thing about it though is I am doing what I want to do so it is not a job but it is something I like to do.

For example Prince Edward Island Special Olympics had their award presentation last night here in S'side at the Harbourside Jubilee Theater. I went and got to meet a lot of the athelets again and had a super evening. If you have never been around them you are not most likely aware the struggle these people go through on a daily basis. We sometimes don't relise just how lucky we are and I am not sure if I could ever accomplish what these athelets do if I was in their position. You can have your Tom Bradys & Roger Clements for me the Special Olympians are my heros.

I am a little tired tonight so I am going to cut this short for now but before I go I have a request from anyone who happens to be reading this post. Like most charitable orgs PEISO is always looking for ways to make money to support our athelets and right now it is a tough sell to collect all the money we would like to have. What we are looking for is very unique ways we can make some money for us so if anyone out there has ant ideas we could use would you please let me know. Can't promise you a million dollars for your ideas if we use them just my eternal gratitude and the thanks from the most appreciative athelets you will ever meet. LIFE IS REALLY AMAZING.

I will start this post by commenting on a couple of things that happened to me in the last 2 days and hope you can see the humor in this. Yesterday I went to Zellers to purchase a new type coffee machine. This is the one that brews 1 cup of coffee by using coffee pods. Zellers happened to have 15% off these machines on monday & being seniors day it means another 10% off. The price went from $79.97 down to a nice $61.18 taxes not included. When I went to pay for it the clerk a nice young fellow didn't give me the seniors discount so I said that it was sad that I had to give out very personal info for such a small sum of money ($6.80). God bless his heart he said I didn't think you were old enough for the seniors discount, Seniors discount starts at Zellers at 55 and it has been a while since I saw 55, Good clerk he managed to cover his mistake and brought a laugh to an "OL' FART".

Now today while I was walking up water street minding my own business and enjoying the beautiful day we are having I saw a young fellow on the corner of water & summer streets. When I got up to him he said, "POP YA GOT A QUARTER?"

After the nice experience I had at Zellers yesterday and the different one I had today I had the best laugh I had in a long time and if the fellow who ask me for a quarter today happens to read this calling an "OL' FART" "POP" is not going to be a successful way to bum money if I am any example.

Seriously though when you stop and think about it life is really wonderful. I know I have been accused of having a warped sense of humor, and I probally have but as long as I enjoy life and get my laughs I have no plans to change.

One more thing before I go as I want to tell this story my dad used to tell about working during the hungry 30's. He always claimed it was true but would not identify the farmer involved as he was well known in the Kensington area.

During this time on PEI you were paid .50 cents a day to pick potatoes but you also received your noon meal (dinner here on PEI). The meal was really wonderful as you would receive meat, potatoes, veggies, bread, rolls, tea, mild, coffee, desserts, etc. Well during the 30's the .50 cents was nice but because food was scarce it was the main attraction.

The first day picking potatoes when noon came and they all went in to eat, the spread would make you want to cry and the table contained more food that the boys from town had saw in months. The young fellow next to pop ask him to pass the butter and after a search they became aware that there was no butter to be found. The young fellow said that the wife probally forgot to put it on the table and since this was their first day there he would not say anything but tomorrow if there was no butter he was going to ask for it.

Day 2 as they are setting down to eat and a careful scan of the table again the butter was nowhere to be found. The young fellow look at the farmer and asks "WHERES THE BUTTER?" The farmer answers"GOOD BREAD DOESN'T NEED IT, BAD BREAD DOESN'T DESERVE IT."

This is what I like to refer to as Island logic.

I got on a set of scales last week and found out that I weigh more now than I have in the last 25 years. For the last 8 years I used to get up and during winter would go down to the waterfront mall at 6:15AM 6 days a week to walk. In warmer weather I would walk outdoors 7 days a week. For some reason for the last 2 years I have stopped most of my walking and stayed in bed until at least 7:00AM . Well the scales told me to get off my butt and start walking again.
I got up early again this morn and went down to the waterfront mall for a walk for the second day in a row and now that I have started hopefully I will continue. Keep in touch and I will tell you on a regular basis how I am doing and will tell you when I reach my goal.
I walked over to "MICKEY D's" this morn for a coffee and what a beautiful day we are enjoying here in S'side. When I finish this post I am going to suit up and have another walk, just to nice not to.
Well not to much more I want to say now just you all have a super day.

Well I must apoligize for not posting for the last month as I have been busy and never seemed to have the time. For some reason it was not one of my priorities but I have given myself a good talking to and a big boot in the butt and now I will be posting on a regular schedule.
I am one of the directors for the world softball junior champion tourney to be held here in Summerside between June 23 & July 4, 2005. Their will be 10 teams involved from all over the world, I am sorry but I can't name them from memory but will in a future post.

I am in charge of transportation and like Jack Nicholson I am "looking for a few good men or woman" to drive vans or cars. We are looking for helpers for more duties thasn driving and there may be something you can do that would help make this the best tourney S'side ever had.

The winner of my first annual Christmas Trivia Funtest is "DEREK MacEWEN" of the Ch'town area. "DEREK'S" choice on who should get the money is "THE PRINCE COUNTY HOSPITAL FOUNDATION" here in S'side. I dropped of the cheque today and you will be hearing from them in the next few days. A few things about "DEREK" is that he is from the New London area, and tells me he was employed with "CJRW" in the late '70's.
I would to thank "DEREK" and all who tried the funtest, I had a lot of fun searching for the questions and have increased my knowledge of Christmas.
I had a super Christmas and hope you all enjoyed your's as much as I did, not to much more to report so almost time to sign off.
One more thing before I go and that is if someone out their lost 25 pounds or 12 KG I have both good and bad news.
First the good news and that is that it is not lost. Now the bad news is that I have found it so if you want it back just let me know because I really don't need it.

Boy was "SANTA" ever good to me as you would not believe all the nice gifts I received and not a bummer in the works.

We should all be very thankful that we live in this super country called "CANADA" and have such a fine neighbor to our south. Not that I agree with everything they do and when I don't agree I will be only to glad to tell them but most of the time they get it right. Most Americans are real fine people but like all places they have a few you have to keep an eye on.

I think for reasons I will not go into now that this is the best Christmas I have had in a long time. I am going to start working on making next year even more special that this year.

May the supreme being bless you all and hope your Christmas was as special as mine.
