This organizations mission is to diminish the incidence and impact of child sexual abuse, so that more children will grow up healthy and whole. And their programs will raise awareness of the prevalence and consequences of child sexual abuse by educating adults about the steps they can take to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to the reality of child sexual abuse.

We at Volvo of Charleston know that your children’s safety depends on more than just the Volvo you drive them in.

It might not garner as much attention as the Cooper River Bridge Run, but the James Island Connector Run offers a less-crowded option for filling your lungs with some early morning air. The first Saturday in November every year, the 10K run/5K walk falls on "Students with Disabilities Day" and proceeds go to the Gavalas Kolanko Foundation, which awards scholarships to special-needs students. The race starts at 8 a.m. Saturday across from Roper Hospital and finishes there after the panoramic run over the bridge and back. Race entry is $25 for the 10K and $20 for the 5K; on race day, the 10K is $30. For more information or to sign up, visit the race Web site.
