This morning we were blessed with a visit by our sweet daughter that lives out of town in the big city. Our son and daughter in law that live next door, plus our grandson came over for a visit. Our grandson is 27 now. They grow up so fast after they leave the nest. Our kids all work so it is hard for us all to get together at the same time. We had a great time and ate too much, as usual, then *poof* and they were gone. Their visits are never long enough...Plum Thickethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15925105698091351800noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7142526661024657691.post-12795071624765655292008-06-13T18:10:00.008-05:002008-06-21T14:18:48.587-05:00Uncle Sam and Watermelon Pull Toy...
We are all looking for alternate methods of transportation due to the rising gasoline prices and Uncle Sam with his Watermelon Pull Toy is no exception. The four medications are worse than the disorder as they zonk me out and make me sleepy, so I take them only when ABSOLUTELY necessary. Over the years I have learned to live with vertigo but a bout with sinus/ear infection over Thanksgiving has left me reeling at times, especially when the barometric pressure changes. I am blessed to be one of the 70% of folks with vertigo that are affected by changes, up or down, in the barometric pressure. By the way, the changes in pressure also affect many other things like vision, sinuses and arthritis, just to name a few.

While walking in the house I am able to hold on to things if necessary but I am afraid to walk outside very much, even with a cane, for fear of falling and breaking bones. So, Poppa got my Four Wheeler Sports Car! It is a walker on wheels with handle bars and brakes and I can turn around and sit if need be. It even has a basket on the front. Now I need a horn and a license plate that reads *Here Comes Trouble*. He did tell me I CAN NOT sit on it and coast down the concrete drive way 300 feet to the mail box! Boy, that would have been fun!!...and...he's not always looking...

Plum Thickethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15925105698091351800noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7142526661024657691.post-83275449576234254832008-04-29T18:36:00.003-05:002008-04-29T19:10:46.461-05:00My worktable...
I finally found time to do some painting. Here are some things on my worktable in various stages of disarray. I like to use gesso and acrylic paints for my staining instead of the tea/coffee/spice mixtures that a lot of primitive folk artists use. It took a lot of experimenting and mistakes to find out what worked best for me. Every new design that I do calls for something different so it is a constant learning/growing process.

Plum Thickethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15925105698091351800noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7142526661024657691.post-78456357136922009402008-04-27T09:40:00.003-05:002008-04-27T10:04:11.285-05:00Frog Dog...
Poppa found our *Bear* up by the mailbox one hot July Sunday morning in 1997. He was a tiny, tiny baby. Ever who dumped this baby out certainly missed out on a great companion. He is a sweet mess and loves to hunt frogs in the pond at the front of our house. I think he gently catches the same frog every day, buries it in the grass nearby and goes back to the pond to look for more frogs. In the meantime, the frog he thought he buried gets back in the pond and they start all over again. They are fun to watch!

All of our four dogs and three cats are strays or have been rescued. All of our strays have come to us on a Sunday so we feel like they were sent from above. Please give an animal a loving home!Plum Thickethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15925105698091351800noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7142526661024657691.post-47462987116703108982008-04-20T10:13:00.006-05:002008-04-20T10:47:23.433-05:00Keeping the Sabbath...Observe the sabbath day to keep it holy, as the Lord your God commanded you. Six days you shall labor and do all your work. Deuteronomy 5:12-13

I love my Sunday's. Since I am housebound, I attend church in my pajamas via satellite; In Touch Ministries from The First Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia with Senior Pastor Dr. Charles Stanley. I have watched him for years and recently have started watching our Texas based Joel Osteen from Houston. Two entirely different pastors and both inspiring.

Sunday is a day of rest in our household and today I hope to soak up some sunshine this afternoon when the temperatures warm a bit and before the clouds roll in again. It is beautiful outside with all of the flowers in bloom and it smells delightful. Thank you Lord for your many favors, mercies and blessings...Plum Thickethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15925105698091351800noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7142526661024657691.post-53133626693001930002008-04-15T13:04:00.003-05:002008-04-15T13:12:04.941-05:00Tagged, again...This time I was tagged by Mae aka http://tatteredcowwings.blogspot.com/

I have to come up with six words that sum up my life. I finally stopped and hand stitched some of the knitted squares together and finished one afghan. I still have several more afghans that I would like to finish before the end of the year. I do like the way this one turned out and so does Miss Dinky Sugar, my constant companion. I have also hand stitched an angel ornament. I put away my sewing machines when I started cleaning the house before Thanksgiving last year. I think that is one reason I have not been creative; everything is still put away and who can work in a clean studio!? The angel is patiently waiting to be stuffed.Plum Thickethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15925105698091351800noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7142526661024657691.post-88481928674575518742008-04-03T14:11:00.000-05:002008-04-03T14:12:36.977-05:00Be Kinder...Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle...Plum Thickethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15925105698091351800noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7142526661024657691.post-88992096707737426662008-04-02T11:09:00.004-05:002008-04-02T11:26:16.596-05:00Great weather if you are a duck...I'm not complaining 'cause the Lord knows we need the rain. It has rained off and on here for several days or it has looked like it was going to rain any minute; cold, dark, dank and damp. My friend, only twelve miles away, received 6.6 inches of rain in two hours and golf ball sized hail. That day we only got 1.5 inches of rain and thankfully no hail. Hail is not good for tender garden plants! We are hoping for a good garden this year. Most of our garden was rained out last year. I'm still not complaining because the two years before that we had no rain and no hay or meadows for the cows to graze. Our son had to *import* hay and that got expensive. I have been told that I was seen doing a rain dance in the driveway during those dry days!

For some reason these dark, dreary days have not sparked my imagination for dollmaking as they usually do. I guess I have knitting on the brain. I will be glad when these four knitting projects are finished, but it is going to take a while. I did draw up a pattern last night for a challenge posted by my American Artists Holiday Ornaments group. I hope it gets further along than just a pattern.Plum Thickethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15925105698091351800noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7142526661024657691.post-43196537109208074682008-03-26T12:38:00.002-05:002008-03-26T12:47:36.492-05:00I have been TAGGED, Again!...This time by Mae of Tattered Cow Wings and I am supposed to tell 5 things about myself and then tag 5 unsuspecting bloggers.

1. I finally started in with the cleaning yesterday and let me tell you, I am really out of shape from sitting and knitting all winter! Where do you start when there is so much to do?...just pick one spot and go from there. I want to move some furniture around and I'm sure Poppa is going to be thrilled about that. My favorite saying is "I clean house once every three years whether it needs it or not!

Cleaning always reminds of of many years ago when I owned a cleaning service. I had a little red VW Beetle named Henrietta and I would pile all of my cleaning supplies in the back seat. Most of the time the brooms and mop handles had to stick out of the window a tiny bit. My friend, Lady Sydney helped me and we sure had fun with that car.Plum Thickethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15925105698091351800noreply@blogger.com
