Grey Knights Modeling Advice?

The reply to my previous post is- Grey Knights! I modeled up these guys a while back, got sidetracked and never really finished them off beyond a tabletop standard and a few games. With the Golden Throne failing now seems like a good time to get back to them and start playing them at the club.

“Earlier portrayals show the Chapter's Aegis armor as being black, with ornate silver gauntlets, shoulder pads, and decorations with the Chapter symbol displayed in gold.”

Based on the fluff I wanted to go with the much older look for my knights and went with midnight black, gold and silver highlights on the runes and a light dry brush of silver around the armor. Beyond this I really want to work out the energy field on the nemesis weapons, stack on even more purity seals, and do something special with the bases beyond the GW rounds.

I've never been really good at painting power weapon fields on a weapon and could use some advice along with any recommendations as how to go with the bases. I'm also on the lookout for purity seals. I've got some more "before" pictures and once the knights are done, I'll post them next to the "after" pictures.

Blog Changes

Despite my reputation at the club I have played other armies besides Eldar. A brief stint with Necrons, Space Wolves back in 3rd Edition and most recently Death Guard. With the transition to 5th complete at the gaming club and the comic shop it is kind of an exiting time for 40K. While it looks like Orks and Tyranids will now be unstoppable everybody else (myself included) is kind of back to the start. In a way the game seems new and fresh with no power lists as of yet. I myself have been guilty of power gaming and rules exploiting, and perhaps this is a natural evolution as a player, but with the few 5th edition games I played in so far I’ve found myself enjoying the game for the sake of it, rather then being so focused on winning at all costs. It’s almost like putting up a good fight and earning the respect of the other player as a tough opponent is perhaps a bit more rewarding then winning.

So what about changes to my blog? I started “The Way Of Saim-Hann” to chart my experiences and tactics learned in preparation for the 2007 Baltimore GT since there didn’t seem to be much Saim-Hann specific stuff out there. Over the months I was learning through my games by writing stuff down to post along with learning even more from the feedback and other ideas from you guys (my readers and fellow Eldar players). But what about the other aspects of the 40K hobby I’m involved with as a terrain maker for the club and fan fiction writer? Rather then start up a new blog I’ve decided to roll all my 40K stuff into this blog changing the focus of it to “Fritz 40,000”. Expect the continued Eldar coverage along with fiction, terrain ideas, and more apocalypse stuff down the road.

About two years ago I started a new army painting it up to a tabletop standard, playing a few games, and then getting lost in my Saim-Hann obsession. With 5th I’ve going to pull this army out also, bring up the painting and basing quality and start playing it also. Question to my readers is- what army do you think is in the case? Here are a few hints:

It fits entirely into one GW case @ 1750 points.
It wasn’t and still isn’t considered a competitive tournament army.
It has (what I think) to be some of the best fluff looking models in the game.

I’ll post the answer pics in a bit.

Warhammer 40,000 5th Edition Eldar Army

With the light of the Golden Throne failing, daemonic incursions, and the rise of chaos war bands my Eldar Guardians of the Black Library are ready to “officially” hit the tables at the club next Monday.

Designed and modeled around a theme of Black Library Harlequins countering the machinations of chaos it breaks down @ 1750 points with:

Maugan Ra
18 Rangers
24 Harlequins
3 Wraithlords
3 Vypers

Play concepts of the army include lots of long to medium range shooting, combined with pinning and high toughness/difficult units to target to frustrate my opponents. Different then a charge and shoot army the flavor is to hang back with shooting and then counter attack at the right moment of weakness to crush my opponents, along with last minute objective grabbing. Exploiting terrain (now with everything being true LOS) to not rely on it to hide my units was also important.

HQ: Maugan Ra

Before arriving at Maugan Ra I played around with a generic farseer and Eldrad. Eldrad’s powers were nice and the redeploy good for a first time one trick. Both worked in a supporting role where I wanted my HQ to go on the offense with some nice hitting power of which Maugan Ra and his background fluff fit well.

Since all terrain is WYSIWYG I deploy Maugan Ra in a place as high as possible to get the longest view of the battle field and field of fire along with something that will give him a 4+ cover save. With this combo right away he becomes a major problem for my opponent. 2+ regular save/ 4+ cover, multiple wounds and eternal warrior who can’t be instant killed means a the very worst he will be around for a turn or two and will soak up lots of fire- continuing the main theme that I wanted my army to be frustrating to shoot at. Add the Maugetar which gives 4/5 shots at 36” inches at strength 6, rending, pinning and ignoring cover lets him lay down the hurt on small squads and tanks.

Elite: Harlequins

With pretty much everything getting a 4+ cover save Harlequins just got that much better. I have the Death Jester in for some fire support, and fusion pistols for anti-tank and pre-assault softening up against power armored opponents. Shadowseer yes, Troupe Master no.

Troops: Rangers

Improved cover save, AP 1 on sixes to hit, and rending on the wounds allows me to target out 36” along with pinning. Improved cover save with infiltrate also allows me to delay setup till the end, and hopefully exploit any weakness in my opponent’s deployment.

Heavy Support: Wraithlords

Are three Wraithlords in a list cheesy? Probably so but I am still going to take them. I’m running them with two flamers, a scatter laser, and a missile launcher. The scatter laser and missile launcher give me both troop killing and anti-tank ability along with taking advantage of the new template rule while adding some more pinning into the list. After switching from long range the flamers allow me to get close and soften things up for the assault. T8 models means only the heaviest of weapons will be wounding me, no instant kills, and getting in cover will give me the 4+ save needed to possibly even negate that.

Fast Attack: Vypers

Borrowing heavy from my Saim-Hann experience it took me the longest to switch my Vyper play style from jacked up and tooled out Vypers to stripped down Vypers. In this list my Vypers are upgraded with nothing more then a shuriken cannon- no spirit stones, holo-fields, star cannons, etc. Using their speed to attack and isolate small units and/or more importantly contest objectives at the lat minute.

Tactics:

Generally my tactics are going to involve shooting from a distance, baiting in with my Wraithlords and then delivering the final blow with my Harlequins- while my Vypers secure objectives.

Deployment has my rangers in cover, usually center of my deployment zone so they have a full arc of fire with the sniper rifles along with Maugan Ra perched somewhere high also with a field of fire. Next has my Wraithlords as far forward as I can with the Harlequins behind them using the Shadowseer to negate the wraith sight and keeping them 24” from the opponent so they can’t be shot at. Finally I stash my Vypers behind LOS blocking terrain or as far away as possible.

While shooting at what I can depending on the mission and target priority I advance my Wraithlords to get them as far forward and into the assault as soon as possible while my Harlequins shadow behind. When my opponent engages the Wraithlords of they are assaulted I then pounce forward with my Harlequins- all the while laying down supporting fire with Maugan Ra and the Rangers. Depending on how things evolve my Vypers handle any flankers or then move to contest. So far this theme has been working and changes a bit if I face an assault army- let them come to me or a shooty army with me going to them.

In terms of only having three troop choices to secure objectives- and Rangers at that- they have also been working out as my strategy has been one of denying objectives rather then trying to capture them- either in recon or take and hold. I basically fortify my objective or grab the one or two closest with my rangers and then pile on the Wraithlords while my Harlequins and Vypers go out to engage and contest the others. Once I loose my first Ranger squad I then fall back with the other Rangers to hide on the objective.

Deployment began with the Space Wolf Whirlwinds and Leman Russ in the back as I deployed one Wraithlord to the right to take aim at a Whirlwind and two on the left to cover the Russ and the other Whirlwind.

Rhinos/Razorbacks deployed forward and to the left while my Harlequins deployed to the left with my Rangers in a center building and some bushes to the left. I wasn’t happy about having a group of Rangers in soft cover but I ran out of room in the building. Behind the building was my two Vypers and Maugan Ra was on the top of the building with a full command of the battle field.

I really needed first turn to neutralize those Whirlwinds with my Wraithlord and of course didn’t get it with the ‘Wolves taking first turn as they advanced with the Rhino’s disembarking behind them while the Whirlwinds and ‘Russ fired on my Rangers wiping out the two squads in the building right away. Moving to my turn I took a few moments to formulate a plan knowing I had to deliver a decisive blow to all those Blood Claws while dropping the tanks- everything had to be coordinated in one swift motion. My plan? Advance the Wraithlords to the Blood Claws firing away so they would be forced to either charge or get hit with the flamers on my ‘Lords since they were so close together behind the Rhino’s. I also noticed that the Blood Claws had multiple power fists and weapons in the squads and that if I put my Wraithlords into a position to be charged they would. With such numbers and power fists I knew my Wraithlords would go down fast but then that would put the Blood Claws into assault range of my Harlequins so I wouldn’t have to worry about them getting shot up as they advance. If I could hit all four squads at once maybe I could wipe out all the Blood Claws on the charge- 40 ‘Claws to 24 Harlequins sounded like a good number. Sounded like a plan.

Writhlords advanced firing away as they took out both Whirlwinds. Maugan Ra fired at the Leman Russ rending it twice and destroying it while my remaining sniper squad fired away dropping a Wolf Guard terminator. As for my Vypers, I made the mistake of moving them out to also shoot at the Wolf Guard by habit thinking they were my Saim-Hann Vypers with star cannons and holo-fields. In this list they are armed with shuriken catapults and fully stripped down as last minute scoring units/contesting units- their only job to sit somewhere hidden till needed on the last turn.

Seeing the Wraithlords advance the Blood Claws took the bait surging forward and assaulting them as the Wolf Guard fired on my last Ranger group killing two while Razorback las cannon fire and Wolf Guard bolter fire downed my Vypers. Wolf Scouts also came in and assaulted my other Wraithlord from behind.

Assaults- on the left the three packs of Blood Claws swarmed over my Wraithlords downing both of them in a fury of power fists while the Wolf Scouts wounded the other Wraithlord. My ‘Lords fought back killing two in each squad.

Taking my turn my Harlequins advanced to the Blood Claws shooting away with the shuriken pistols, fusion pistols, and shrieker cannon downing a few before charging the ‘Claws, whose counter charge worked out even batter as it pulled even more into kill range for my Harlequins. I managed to contact three squads and wiped out two in the assault with 5-7 rends and 10 wounds on average landing on each squad. I lost a few Harlequins with the third squad and my other two consolidated into the Wolf Guard and Wolf Lord/Rune Priest to deny them the charge attack.

With nothing to shoot at we went right into the assault phase as the Wolf Scouts downed my last Wraithlord and my Harlequins brought the Wolf Guard down below scoring while taking casualties, and the Harlies engaging the other Blood Claws from before finally finished them. Using hit and run to pull out I had one group of four Harlequins left (scoring) and one group of three Harlequins left- the Wolf Lord & Priests really did a lot of damage with their attacks and power weapons.

Moving to my turn I pulled my rangers back fleeting them away since they were still a scoring unit- trying to run them behind some LOS blocking cover to keep them alive as Maugan Ran turned and fired on the Wolf Scouts rending and killing them.

In the assault I through my remaining Harlies into the last Blood Claw pack completely wiping them out as the Rune/Wolf Priests then closed in finishing off my Harlequins as las cannon and bolter fire from the Rhinos killed Maugna Ra and my last few Rangers completely wiping me out ending the game at the top of turn 4.

Playing Alpha seek and destroy even though my Eldar were wiped out I managed as planned to destroy all the Space Wolf Scoring units leaving only IC and transports which brought the game to a draw- even more amazing then 24 Harlequins taking on and wiping out 40 Blood Claws.

Battle For Salvation 40K Gaming Club

3000 Points Apocalypse

Teaming up with the Blood Angels my Guardians of the Black Library Eldar faced off against a defiler and obliterator heavy chaos warband backed by thousand sons, and two lash sorcerers.

Tactics? We planned to use my wraithlords to lay down krak missile and brightlance fire into the defilers and land raiders while the Blood Angels assault marines and death company moved ahead center while my harlequins stayed behind. Once the Blood Angels engaged chaos they would then pull back making it look like we were retreating hoping to draw the chaos forces out into the open and into the center- at which my harlequins would charge backed by the wraithlords.

We took first turn moving out using the ruined buildings to block LOS as my wraithlords open fire on the defilers doing nothing by either missing or being negated by demonic possession. Chaos returned fire on our vindicators stunning one and dropping some ordinance fire on the advancing Blood Angels scoring a few kills. I had Eldrad on the table and his runes totally shut down the two sorcerer lashes and thousand sons doombolts.

Continuing to advance the Blood Angels made contact with Chaos havoc squads and tactical squads backed by Dante as my pathfinders laid down some fire, with my wraithlords missing again. Blood Angels cleaned up in the assault and then took two defiler and a chaos vindicator hit almost wiping them out- which was clearly the time for us to “retreat” which the Blood Angels then did along with my front line pathfinder who also pulled back. Classically Chaos filled the void as their terminators then came down mid table for support continuing to lay down fire.

Now with the trap set my harlequins started to move out as my wraithlords engaged two chaos squads (who didn’t have power fists) in the assault as a third wraithlord took aim at a plague marine packed rhino that had its exit points blocked off by the remains of a Blood Angel assault squad in the movement turn. Missile fire missed but the brightlance penetrated the rhino destroying it and the 10 plague marines inside as there was no way for them to get out. With my harlies surging forward the remains of the Blood Angels turned around as we prepared to counter attack, but unfortunately ran out of time with the gaming store closing. Victory point wise Chaos came out ahead and won, but only if we had another two turns to complete the plan. Either way a fun game, and a good plan to hold onto for the next Apocalypse game.

1750 Take & Hold City Fight

Taking to the table I deployed my wraithlords to the far left with a harlie squad and two harlie squads and Eldrad to the far right in a ruined building. Blood angels deployed center with a devastator squad and tactical/assault squads along with a vindicator and death company to the left. Used Eldrad’s divination to move the wraithlords to the far right atop and behind a building which I then infiltrated my pathfinders inside with a third squad center behind a wall.

Plan was to use Eldrad to fortune the pathfinders in cover making them uber-tough to kill as they and the wraithlords lay down fire having a full vantage point from the building. Hold the harlies in reserve to threaten a counter attack and to move out/fleet last turn to take the center. With my harlies on the left they were going to flank/act as a diversion and then make for the center last turn.

Blood Angels took first turn and advanced to the center while bringing a squad up the right approaching my Eldar packed building. Devestator and other heavy weapon fire killed two pathfinders and wounded a wraithlord. Taking my turn Eldard popped of his powers as the pathfinders and wraithlords fired on the approaching blood angels taking the squad down to one while the remaining missile and long rifle fire went on a tactical squad dropping a few.

Turn two had more heavy weapon shots on my wraithlords who took wounds as the blood angels death company moved out along with the vindicator who fired on the pathfinders behind the wall to no effect. I moved my lone left harlie squad out to draw in the death company since they had to move/attack the closest enemy unit as my wraithlord bright lances popped the vindicator.

Turn three had Dante coming forward to challenge Eldarad as the first blood angel drop pod came in dropping a dreadnought right next to my right harlies who took a wash of flame killing a few. On my turn Eldrad buffed himself up, doomed Dante and charged into the assault causing two wounds while saving against Dante’s attacks. Both my harlie squads charged the dreadnought rending it apart, penetrating and destroying it. On the left my lone harlie squad charged the death company killing them all on the first assault on rends alone, only to then be wiped out by return bolter and flame thrower fire from the BA tactical squad holding the center.

Turn four had one of the blood angel assault squads in the center move out to engage my pathfinders behind the center wall- they dropped a few with sniper fire but then tied up in the assault actually won by the second turn, while on the right Dante and Eldrad continued to battle it out with Eldrad scoring the final killing blow downing Dante.

Moving into the last turn the remaining blood angel dreadnought came down to the center leaving three scoring units holding the center for the blood angels with my two harlie squads held back ready for the push along with my pathfinder squad who might have made it to the center with move through cover and fleeting. Taking the turn blood angel heavy fire dropped a wraithlord and killed all the pathfinders near my center as one of the assault squads holding the center moved out to shoot at my harlies almost dropping one of the units below scoring as they then charged and were wiped out by the rends of my harlies.

Moving to my final turn my wraithlord with the vantage point on the building tried to snipe the dreadnought to no effect as my two harlie squads advanced getting into range of the center as one of the squads fired their pistols killing a marine taking that unit below scoring, ending the game with blood angels having one scoring unit in the center vs. my two harlequin squads in the center for a very close win.

Eldar Rangers Vs. Pathfinders

Over the past few games my new Eldar pathfinders have been doing pretty well pinning a few units and making a lot of saves with the 2+ cover saves. The infiltration is a nice surprise and the only things I find myself learning is placement to keep in mind the 36” range of their rifles- meaning placing them far enough away in terrain to keep return fire to a minimum.

Now, here is the question- is the 5/6 AP 1 and 2+ cover save worth 5 extra points? If I drop my pathfinders down to rangers I will be saving 90 points which could go to upgrading the weapons on my wraithlords or even throwing in a few vypers.

If I place my rangers together to make a fire base of sorts and have Eldrad near by I can have him fortune two squads allowing my re-rolls. I figure this would negate the loss of +1 cover save and in 5th edition sniper weapons rend on the wound roll so that would make up for the loss of AP 1 on the 5 to hit. I’m thinking this combo would be just as effective and free up the points.

Warhammer 40,000 Apocalypse Battle: Eldar & Tau Vs. Chaos Space Marines

Teaming up with the Tau for the greater good my Guardians of the Black Library stood against the combined might of the four chaos gods and their Space Marine servants. I deployed my harlies center and to the left with my pathfinders and wraithlords taking up position in a center building- the wraithlords taking to the roof to give them full lanes of fire.

Eldar/Tau took first turn and I advanced my harlies as stealth suit teams infiltrated, advanced, and blew up a defiler with fusion gun fire. My pathfinders took out a few chaos undivided marines pinning them as the wraithlords dropped another defiler and pinged off a land raider.

Chaos returned fire and advanced as a slaanesh sorcerer popped out from some buildings defeating my runes of witnessing and shadowseer to lash my first harlie group right infront of two squads of chaos marines who then rapid fired and flamed them to death. Up next chaos advanced all their rhinos as two daemon princes with wings charged the center heading towards the main tall building serving as a fire base for my pathfinders and the fire warriors.

Targeting the slaanesh sorcerer since he was now the closest unit my first pathfinder group dropped him with a few AP 1 shots as we then pretty much shot everything we had into the two daemon princes to drop them and prevent them from crashing our lines. Having pretty much wasted a turn of shooting it gave all the chaos rhino’s and defilers time to move and advance as chaos marine squads disembarked engaging us on our side of the board. I tried to counter attack with my two other harlie squads taking out two obliterators, some thousand sons, and a defiler in the assaults but it was not enough to turn the tide as the Tau fire warriors couldn’t stand up to the volley of rapid bolter fire and assaults. Moving into turn five we called the game for time but it was clear that chaos had the win over the Tau/Eldar.

My harlies getting lashed was kind of a bummer, but the other two squads ripped things up when they hit and the pathfinders did really well helping to drop the princes, pinning a few squads and surviving a defiler cannon shot with the 2+ cover save.

Warhammer 40,000 5th Edition Terrain

With true LOS now bring the rule myself and a few of the guys at the gaming club have been building up some new terrain to help cut down on any LOS disputes. Pictured above are a few of the work in progress city fight pieces. The idea is to create block like structures that you can hide models behind, along with a few low walls to cover save troops behind. We have about a dozen built so far and are planning to base them in an ash waste theme, more pics upon completion.

Farseer Ideas For A Non-Mech Eldar List?

Currently my HQ choice for the Black Library list is a farseer with runes of warding and guide. One of my focuses in the next few games regarding evolving my list is what role best suits a farseer in a non-mech eldar list.

I’ve got the runes of warding as a must since a lot of guys in the club roll with chaos sorcerers, demon princes, and warp blast tyranid brain bugs- shutting them down is east for the 15 points of the runes. Beyond this I am really stuck with how to equip and play my farseer.

I was figuring on guide and deploying the farseer next to my wraithlords to auto pass the wraith sight roll and guide one of them. Seems like kind of waste with the ‘lords hitting on 3+, but it could make up for it on a shot that really counts. But what happens if I can’t or don’t want to tactically deploy all the wraithlords together?

Do I go with a farseer fleeting with a group of harlies with doom to hit those tougher units with?

And given the points I can’t even figure out how to get Eldrad into the list which seems like a must for foot Eldar.

What do you run in your list, any good combinations?

Eldar Guardians Of The Black Library Vs. Chaos Space Marines

1750 Recon Alpha

My Guardians Of The Black Library- 30 Harlequins, 18 Pathfinders, 3 Wraithlords, & 1 Farseer Vs. 5 Chaos Marine squads- Khorne, Tzeentch, Slanesh, Nurgle, & Undivided, 2 Terminator Squads, 1 Defiler, 1 Havoc squad, Obliterators, and a lash Sorcerer. Setup had my Wraithlords in the center and one to the left with lanes of fire, 2 Harlequin squads to the right, one to the left, and Pathfinders infiltrating. Tactics were for the left Wraithlord and Harlequins to advance and wipe out the squad of Chaos Marines there to claim objectives, while my other Harlies, Pathfinders, and Wraithlord stop the advancing Chaos army.

I took turn one advancing my Harlies and firing on the Defiler hoping to take it out first turn but failed with my missile launcher and scatter laser fire from my Wraithlords. Pathfinders rolled poorly only wounding an Obliterator while my Harlies advanced and fleeted. Chaos rolled forward with their Rhino's dropping out the Thousand Sons, World Eaters, and Death Guard as my Farseer's rune of warding shut down a lash attack. Rapid fire bolter fire brought my first Harlie squad down to four and took out a few from the second while Obliterator fire wounded a Wraithlord and a Defiler battle cannon shot hit my center group of Pathfinders with all of them making the 2+ cover save.

Turn two had my Harlies making it into the assault as the first group crashed into both the World Eaters and Thousand Sons taking both of them on- softening up the World Eaters first with the two fusion gun and Death Jester shots- as the both the World Eaters and Thousand Sons were wiped out as my Harlies then consolidated into the lash sorcerer. With my second group of Harlies I crashed into the Death Guard killing one while loosing two in return- without those rending rolls the armor save, T5, and FNP was impossible to crack.

Pathfinders traded fire with the Havocs, while my Wraithlords fired again on the Defiler and the group of Noise Marines. Moving to Chaos' turn his terminators came in down near my Pathfinders off an icon and flamed them dropping a unit while the Defiler charged my left Wraithlord and was quickly destroyed by my Wraithlord in the assault with two penetrating hits. Chaos Marines fired on my left Harlies dropping a few while the Death Guard finished off my remaining Harlies in the assault, while my other group of Harlies made quick and easy work of the lash Sorcerer.

On the left my Wraithlord and Harlies advanced taking down the Chaos Marine squad there while dropping the Harlies below scoring in the assault- now leaving me with one scoring unit- the Wraithlord in my opponent's deployment zone, while on the other side my Harlies moved and assaulted the terminators while what was left of my Pathfinders fired away. Chaos' turn had his noise marines wiping out the remainder of my Harlequins with rapid bolter fire as the Obliterators continued to fire on my Wraithlords wounding one. Continuing I moved my two Wraithlord out firing away for the rest of the game dropping his Obliterators, and Noise Marines below scoring ending the game for a win with my Wraithlord in his deployment zone.

Warhammer 40,000 5th Edition White Dwarf

The new issue of White Dwarf includes a handy cardboard reference sheet for 5th and an in depth battle report of chaos space marines vs. loyalist space marines using 5th edition rules. Interestingly the chaos army was essentially the box set, with some terminators, daemons, and led by Abbadon, while the space marines were troop spammed out. Predictably the space marines won since the mission (and 2/3 are going to be) was objective based. Beyond that there was also a nice sneak peak of what is to come in 5th with some new artwork and backgrounds of the different races.

Harlequin Advice Needed

My first group of harlequins are ready to go and now I’m working on integrating them into my Saim-Hann warhost and then eventually spinning them off to my black library themed list. Having never played harlequins before and only facing them in the 2007 GT and at the club once I’m trying to sort them out.

With only T5 and a 5+ inv. save I’ll be running them in units of ten strong to hopefully weather any incoming fire. Cover saves might bring that save down to a 4+ which is better but not great. I’ll also throw in a shadowseer for the 2d6X2 to shoot at but I’m going to not rely on this to keep my harlies alive.

Next question, do I take a troupe master? A bump from LD 9 to LD 10 might make a difference but I can’t really see the extra points for one more base attack and a power weapon that goes on S4/3. Running ten harlies seems to negate the need of a power weapon.

What about fusion pistols? I’ve got two in the squad which seems nice despite the ultra short range. I’m not planning to pop tanks with them but it is an option. I’m thinking of them as adding to the pistol shot kills before I charge into the assault. On the opposite side kisses seem a must- why run harlies without kisses?

Finally the death jester, I’ve got him also, mainly for fluff, and to also soften up my target as the harlies approach.

Upcoming Eldar Projects

Moving ahead to 5th and some new terrain boards at the club I have been busy working on two projects for my Eldar. The first being two more fire prism for my Saim-Hann warhost. No conversions, I’ve got them built and primed and will start painting in the next few days. Depending on how things shake out I’ll be dropping my wave serpent to get the second prism in and two star cannon vypers to get the third prism in, leaving me with a pair of star cannon and a pair of bright lance vypers so I still have that Saim-Hann flavor on the tabletop.

My second project had been slow going, a mere whisper at the club lest the forces of chaos take interest before they are ready. I’ve been working on a new Eldar army to both stand alone and play along with my Saim-Hann for bigger/apocalypse games. I’m going for a black library theme of all harlequins, wraith lords, and pathfinders. Stand alone I’ll run everything, with my Saim-Hann I’ll take some harlequins for that extra punch in the assault. I’m finding I need to expand my Saim-Hann warhost a bit since the guys at the club have seen all my tricks and it is getting harder and harder to catch people off guard. My Saim-Hann are still sexy as hell but I need to get that edge back, especially when guys are tailoring their lists to beat you.

Once my harlies and ‘prism are done I’ll have some pictures up.
