And do I have news...

The National Film Challenge has enough St. Louis participants to warrant a screening of all the short films to be submitted -- and Bug-Juice Productions is one of the teams this year rising to the occasion the weekend of Oct. 19th-22nd! Come to the Tivoli Theatre in the U-City Loop on Oct. 25th, and not only support independent, amateur film, but also check out Bug-Juice Productions on the big screen!!

Mark your calendars!

Quilled Onehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03225862296992884770noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7066674.post-63754346892953356242007-07-22T16:34:00.000-07:002007-07-22T16:49:41.351-07:00New things...? For real??Hey ladies and gents...it's been too long on an update. Here's the skinny, short and sweet:

JOB/HOUSE/LIFE:

1) Job is going well; I am immersed in the submittal process for the casino project with C. Rallo, and doing well at it.

2) Life is pretty dandy. We are currently preparing for house hunting once again.

BUG-JUICE PRODUCTIONS:

1) Work on the extended cut and DVD w/ extras for our 48 Hour Film opus "Bad Poker Night" continues slowly but surely.

2) Meatloaf has changed hands; Nix is no longer writer/director (and we hope he still has involvement with the project despite this) and those responsibilities are now on myself and Scott. The first sequence is rough-drafted, and is underway.

3) That archive of pre-2007 Bug-Juice stuff -- that I bet everyone thought was lost forever or forgotten about -- is about to enter into the digital transfer/restoration process. Joe may be able to do this himself; or we may have to pay to have it "professionally" done. And yes, this includes Claire-Bitch Project...

4)...and Claire-Bitch Project has outtakes and stuff that will eventually be put on either it's own DVD, or will be part of a larger DVD series project. First thing's first, though...let's save what we can first.

5) The Hollywood Murders -- a script that pre-dates even before Bug-Juice started by myself, Scott, and Jess Stamper -- is being developed to improve upon the cheesy and over-crowded stuff, and eventually into a screen play. One of our more longer-term and ambitious things. Jess is working on it right now; then Scott and I will do our parts for it.

6) Besides Meatloaf, Bad Poker Night, the archive, and Hollywood Murders -- damn, that's a lot of stuff! -- several NEW things are in the works, being written by various members of the team/group.

7) Animated. Bug-Juice. Curious? Stay tuned. ;) [Come on, I had to throw a shameless teaser in there about something, didn't I? That's half the fun!!]

8) Yes, to answer the question we are plagued by constantly -- there IS a sequel coming for another Spook Seekers segment. Have patience.

Hopefully that is enough to tide you all over...I have to get back to work!

Quilled Onehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03225862296992884770noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7066674.post-59870973227460252852007-06-13T14:14:00.000-07:002007-06-13T14:34:30.103-07:0048 HoursFinally a new post.

The 48 Hour Film Project was this weekend. Almost every imaginable thing tried to stop us, but it didn't. We made a movie. And, much to my joy, we were on par with most of the films in our group; a handful of them of course blew all others out of the water because they were uber-impressive and awesome...but we didn't suck. Our comedy got laughs. Some may not like it; but we do, and more importantly, so did several of the other filmmakers and the audience. :)

I present to you..."Bad Poker Night" - a comedy short-film.

Quilled Onehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03225862296992884770noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7066674.post-21269126457732137502007-05-15T04:44:00.000-07:002007-05-15T04:47:19.427-07:00Allergy AttackToday is my second day on the job at C. Rallo Contracting. It is also the second day of a major allergy attack that has me feeling like shit on ice right now. Not to worry, for I am on Ibuprofen, Allegra-D (my allergy meds), and some DayQuil. I actually got sleep last night, suprisingly.

Ah well, into the fray I go. Hope you all have a good day!

Quilled Onehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03225862296992884770noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7066674.post-68414609218576285402007-05-08T06:43:00.000-07:002007-05-08T06:55:17.594-07:00News Of The New: May 2007It's been a little while since I last updated everyone on my status. Here's what's going on:

1) I am starting a wonderful new job with C. Rallo Contracting. I will be a project engineer/assistant estimator. With this comes better opportunity, more stability, and better pay.

2) Our silly little "film troupe" (if you could even call it that) has recently experienced a renewed life in the form of some brand new shorts; so much so that we have entered into a contest for short filmmaking called "The 48 Hour Film Project" where will we have 2 days to script, film, and produce a 4-7 minute film...which will be shown at the Tivoli. Meatloaf is still in the works, as well as other things brewing beneath the surface.

I've run into some old familiar faces as of late, namely my friend Valerie from WAY back in my early high school days, and Dani Mann, my former drama teacher from Oakville. That has been a very cool experience.

Word on the street is that things are bad for the residential builders in this market right now. This means the possibility of sweet deals on houses that would normally be a bit out of our price range in the coming months and season. We are now on the hunt.

I guess that's really not too much news after all...but hey, it's something. :)

Quilled Tunes: "Survivalism" - Nine Inch Nails

Quilled Onehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03225862296992884770noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7066674.post-33738552629300844432007-04-17T09:20:00.000-07:002007-04-17T09:58:43.615-07:00The 48 Hour Film ProjectThe short of it is this:

There's this annual film project competition held in various cities around the U.S., and St. Louis is one of them. Teams draw a film genre at random, and all teams are assigned film elements - a prop, a character to be shown and named, and a line of dialogue - that must be incorporated into the movie. Each team has 48 hours, this year from June 8th at 7:00 pm to June 10th at 7:00 pm to script, rehearse, film, score, edit, and deliver their opus film.

All films submitted on time are eligible to win best in the city, can win several possible "award" categories, and will be screened to an audience at the Tivoli on the Loop.

And Scott and I are leading the charge for Bug-Juice Productions...we are officially entered into the competition.

Boo-yah! Stay tuned as events develop...it's going to be a wild, sleepless 48-hour ride...but we can and will do this, and win or not, we will make something awesome!

P.S. This film will NOT be done the same way as our current stock of shorts. We will be scripting, rehearsing, working with filming tricks, camera work, equipment, etc. Our other shorts are improved and hit-or-miss comedy skits...this will be more stylistically done no matter what genre we get.

This is a personal goal for me...to make something very different that other people will appreciate and we can showcase. It would greatly help Meatloaf if that happened; as well as any other short films we do.

Quilled Onehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03225862296992884770noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7066674.post-20086673591645999232007-04-09T14:03:00.000-07:002007-04-09T14:27:44.599-07:00Bad Chinese Delivery Guy - A BJP Production 2007This video was actually done the same night as Couch Ninja, but it was on Joe's camera and he experienced some trouble getting it transferred right. We watched over at Heather's parents' place and had snacks and drinks (well...soda). It was cool that it was a Midwest game, with the Bears vs. Colts; Colts won.

Here is a commercial I thought was funny:

Quilled Onehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03225862296992884770noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7066674.post-1170176987150369562007-01-30T09:08:00.000-08:002007-01-30T09:15:26.623-08:00The AXE EffectI don't usually "do" the video posting thing on my blog; that's more of a Nix specialty. And here I thought we were going to have a light winter. Eff...that!

When it's too cold outside for ME to tolerate, things have gotten bad. Ask around, apparently I've got internal heating or something...)

@Corey: Happy birthday once again, my friend.

@Hizzy: Congrats on the continuing subbing work and on your new relationship.

@Beaver: Hang in there, bud. God is with you, and you are in everyone's prayers.

@Nix: Sales - sometimes you're the bird, and other times you're the worm. Don't worry, you'll evolve back into a killer hawk sooner than later...

Heather has been sick this past week, so I've been trying to take good care of her. Hopefully I'm doing a good job.

And the beat goes on...

Quilled Onehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03225862296992884770noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7066674.post-1169401131278465632007-01-21T09:37:00.000-08:002007-01-21T09:38:51.566-08:00Beaver...I'm here for ya, bud.
