Holy fuck! An update! As I mentioned in my previous "oh I promise I'll update the next day" post, work has been hectic as there have been shake ups that have moved me higher on the food chain, but keep me at the same pay! Awesome!

Anyways, enough of my personal life(?) and on to the movie news. News that will rock your world in ways you've never imagined possible. Ok, well, that may be a bit of a stretch but hey! Did you like the two Robocop movies? (I'm not counting the third one, that one was terrible) Does the very mention of Robocop leave you jonesing for a nuke?

Well then you'll love this! Requiem for a Dream director/Double-Dildo enthusiast(You'll have to see the movie to get that..) Darron Aronofsky is apparently close to finalising a deal to direct a new Robocop movie! What would an Aronofsky Robocop be like? I have no fucking clue, but as long as it's nothing like The Fountain in any way, shape, or form, it should be completely badass!

There's not a whole lot more to go on, other than a breif synopses that Bloody Disgusting got there hands on:

Present day Los Angeles, 20 years after the termination of the RoboCop program, the city decides to reinstate the program.

The movie is expected to be released in 2010.

Check out the red band trailer for Hell Ride!

ComingSoon has the red band trailer for Hell Ride! And it's completely bad-ass! Exclamation point!!

Keep in mind it's very not work safe, but then again, that's what red band trailers are all about. The film follows a badass motorcycle gang called the Victors, who are trying to take care of some unfinished business with a rival gang called the "Six Six Sixers". Violence, alcohol and sex ensue. Michael Madsen, Eric Balfour, Larry Bishop, and Vinnie Jones star with appearances from Dennis Hopper and David Carradine.

You can catch Hell Ride in theaters on August 8th.

GEEK CRUSH: Joss Whedon developing "Cabin in the Woods"

The Hollywood Reporter is...uh, reporting...that geek king Joss Whedon and Cloverfield scribe Drew Goddard have turned in a spec script to MGM that has "suddenly became Project No.1". Mary Parent, head of the studios worldwide motion picture group, had this to say about the project:

"It feels great," said Parent, talking excitedly about a possible fall start date.

"It feels really good. It just came in and it was ready to go.

"It was just very fateful," she added. "I couldn't have coordinated it. It just happened. There's other stuff that's percolating, but this just felt great. Honestly, it's one of the most clever and original scripts I've ever read. And I love them. You put the two of them together and it's kind of a dream come true."

Holy. Fucking. Wow. They sure know how to get me excited. Everyone has pretty much kept mum about the plot, but Parent did say this:

"It's an intense visceral thrill ride and I'll leave it at that."

Not a ton to go off of there, but I'll take it. Meanwhile it'll be Goddards first time behind the camera, but with Joss at his side as producer, I've got faith in him.

According to Parent, the movie is slated for a fall start date. I'm guessing we'll see it around October of 2009.

October's looking good for 'Bastards'

Things are finally starting to come together on Quentin Tarantino's next project 'Inglorious Bastards'. It wasn't too long ago that he announced the script was finished on his World War II creation, and now it looks as if the Weinsteins have agreed to co-finance and distribute the film locally. Even better news is that the movie is being fast-tracked in order to be ready for next years Cannes in May.

QT has described the movie as being a sort of Spaghetti Western + WWII combo, which sounds nothing short of bad ass. At this point, no cast has been announced, though it's rumored that Brad Pitt is talking with QT about about starring in the film.

Quickie:Your morning dose of Bruce Campbell

Here's a short interview Bruce Campbell did with Entertainment Weekly via the good people over at Dread Central. It's mostly focused on Bruce's role as Ash in the Evil Dead, the 99,000 different versions of the movies that Anchor Bay has released on DVD and whether or not that rumored Evil Dead remake will ever come to fruition.

What's semi-exciting is that Bruce implies that he'd be willing to reprise his role as Ash--as long as Raimi is willing to direct. Come on Bruce..just one more!

Bruno is going to be amazing.

Sacha Baron Cohen is a genius. Period. Borat was a huge sucess and he's still managing to fool people...even celebrities. In March, posing as his character Bruno, the gay, Austrian fashion journalist, Cohen managed to score an interview with Ben Affleck, which was later described to Sarah Silverman as "the weirdest sit-down he has ever had with a reporter." Though whether or not Affleck was really in the dark is unclear.

Cohen's also going back to the never ending source of comedy that helped make Borat work: closed-minded rednecks. The Smoking Gun reports that the Bruno team staged two cage-wrestling matches in Arkansas; one called 'Blue Collar Brawlin' and the other 'Red, White, and Blood'. For five bucks a pop wrestling fans were treated to a night of violence, $1 draft beers, and two men tearing each others clothes off and kissing in the ring...Wait, what?

Yup, the twist here is that during the final match the two wrestlers apparently ripped off each others clothes, and made out in their underwear. In Arkansas. During a wrestling match. After serving $1 beers. Needless to say the fans were unhappy and threw chairs and beer at the ring. Genius plan, and kudos to the Bruno team for pulling it off without getting anyone killed.

Bruno is set to be released on May 15th, 2009. Below I've embedded a clip of Bruno from 'da Ali G. Show' to give you a taste of what to expect in the film.

Tucker Max is a douche, and now his movie has a cast

The movie, titled "I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell", is based on Max's best-selling novel of the same name. If you haven't heard of him, this guy is the frat-boy-asshole version of David Sedaris. Essentially, he wrote a bunch of essays detailing his douchebaggery and posted them on his website, which then gained popularity among the college douchebag crowd, and in turn landed him a book deal. Surprising no one, the book managed to become a best seller, which, logically, landed him a movie deal. To give you an idea of what this guy is like, one of his more popular stories involves anal sex, vomit, and sushi. Yeah, real awesome.

Anyways, as far as the actual news goes, they just announced the principal cast. You have Jesse Bradford and Geoff Stults as his wingmen, with Matt Czuchry set to play Tucker. Hopefully this movie enters some stage of development hell and disappears from the earth. Unfortunately though, this announcement means that it's still on track for its 2009 release. Fuck.

Slacker: Watch Ghostbusters for free, online, now!

What a great way to start the workday: doing nothing. That's right, drop that TPS coversheet, set your phone to DoNotDisturb, and head over to Hulu.com, because right now you can stream the first Ghostbusters movie right in your browser.

If you're unfamilliar with Hulu it was started by NBC Universal and News Corp. in an effort to cash in on those watching pirated TV on streaming video websites. They figured that if they just uploaded the content themselves, and threw in a few short commercial breaks, and an easy to use interface, people would choose the legit way over the slightly less legit(read: illegal) way. And whaddya know, they were right, as Hulu is on track to make 90 million in its first year.

After you're done with Ghostbusters, I recommend checking out some of the other content on the site. Not only do they have a huge selection of movies(like The Big Lebowski!!), they also have a bevy of TV shows, quite a few with entire seasons posted. A couple I recommend checking out are Burn Notice, if you're in the mood for some snarky spy action and Bruce Campbell, and It's Always Sunny in Philidelphia if you're in the mood for shows based around finding a baby in a dumpster, and Danny DeVito.

Quickie: Pineapple Express Web Game

So, it's like Donkey Kong, only you're playing as either James Franco's greasy-haired-drug-dealing character Saul, or Seth Rogens typical-slacker-pot-smoking character Dale. You have to climb ladders, eat munchies, avoid pineapples, and make it to the top, ~~where Lumbergh will probably ask you to come in on Saturday~~ where Gary Cole yells at you. I'm pretty excited about the film, and can't wait until it to see it -- mostly because James Franco looks so crazy. The dudes normally a dead ringer for James Dean. And no, I don't have a man crush on him. Alright, maybe I do.

Anyways, it's a decent way to kill 5 minutes at work. If you want the complete Pineapple Express experience fireup their Myspace Page and play the game while jamming to their title track by HUEY LEWIS AND THE [MOTHERFUCKING] NEWS. That's right, the same guys that did POWER OF LOVE for Back to the Future, recorded a new song just for this movie. That's proof right there that it's going to rock. You can catch the movie in theaters on August 8th.

The RZA gets an Iron Fist

It looks like Tarantino has rubbed off on The RZA. A rumor has been floating around the interwebs about a possible Eli Roth/The RZA martial arts collaboration, and movie blog Chud emailed Roth to get the straight dope. Roth confirmed the development of the movie, titled The Man with the Iron Fist, which The RZA both wrote and will direct, with Roth coming on as a producer.

It's apparent Roth thinks The RZA is going to have some talent behind the camera, calling the movie "everything martial arts fans could want". You can get the complete quote, and Chuds two cents on the movie here.

Along with being a prominent member of the martial arts themed hip-hop group the Wu-Tang Clan, the RZA collaborated with QT on the soundtracks for Kill Bill volumes 1 and 2. It's likely that this participation further influenced his decision to jump into the movie business.

Bad Lieutenant geting updated

Director Werner Herzog (Grizzly Man) has signed on to helm a remake of the 1992 Harvey Keitel cult classic Bad Lieutenant.

Nicolas Cage will play the corrupt policeman made famous by Keitel in Abel Ferrara's original, while Val Kilmer will portray Cage's partner and rapper Xzibit will play a villain. Also in the cast are Eva Mendez, Fairuza Balk, Jennifer Coolidge and Brad Dourif. Can't anybody, anybody leave classics alone? You know the re-make is going to be horrible and it's going to get awful reviews, why would you want to go through that?

Bale will bail if Robin joins franchise

See what I did there? Yeah. Terrible puns aside, a couple days ago Starpulse reported that Batman star Christian Bale will ditch the rebooted franchise if they try to bring Robin on board. He was quoted as saying

"If Robin crops up in one of the new Batman films, I'll be chaining myself up somewhere and refusing to go to work."

For many, this should come as a relief considering how well that whole Robin thing was handled in the Joel Schumacher disasters known as "Batman Forever" and "Batman and Robin".

Final Distination 4 steps up

Our beloved death franchise Final Destination will have a Final Destination 4 next summer in 3-D. Maybe it'll go straight to DVD? God let's hope so, maybe death should kill off this movie franchise because it is done.

Cloverfield 2 put on hold

The Cloverfield sequel is being put on hold. I think this is a good idea simply because if they want to have good buzz like they did on the first one, they should wait until the buzz has died out, and then release Cloverfield 2. Maybe I'm just crazy.

The Day The Earth Stood Still remake

For some ungodly knows reason they are remaking The Day The Earth Stood Still and it will star Keanu-Cant-Act-Reeves, if your going to remake a movie which is probably going to be horrible in the first place, why not get somebody who is actually a half way decent actor to play the leading role so it will take some of the pressure off of the overall movie and put some on the actor(s)? The poster can be viewed here. The poster looks sorta Close Encounter of the Third Kindish, don't get me wrong it looks good (the poster does anyways), it's got that old movie sci-fi vibe to it. What do you think?

There will be a Hostel 3 but it will be directed without Eli Roth. I'm personally glad Eli Roth won't be on this franchise any longer, creativity he's a genius, but I think he relies on the gore side of horror movies way too much rather than suspense. So if a another director stepped in the Hostel 3 shoes maybe it'll be better than the second one (god, let's hope so).
