NE PEZ Con/NE Candy Expo 2010-Update
I have a major update to tell you. The Sheraton Stamford Hotel has been sold. As of right now the hotel is going to be independently named and called the Stamford Plaza Hotel and Conference Center. The change will be taking place on July 9th. Our sales manager said the hotel will honor our contract for 2010, so nothing will change except the name-we hope! I would expect by the time the convention comes the hotel will have a brand name, such as the Sheraton or Holiday Inn.

Myrtle Beach PEZ Con-site updated
Its time to start making plans to attend the 9th Annual PEZ in the Sun Collectors Gathering in sunny Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The hotel is the same as last year, but we are in a different building. As in years past, there will be another large group in the hotel at the same time as us, so book your rooms early. The web site http://www.PezGathering.com has been updated with the latest are information and convention registration forms. Don’t forget, the convention is free to attend. Please just register so we know how many people to expect. Just click on the link to the Myrtle Beach PEZ con.

Today I went to the Dollar Tree searching for non-PEZ candy dispensers. Didnt find any, but found they had new Star Wars and Nascar in bag. Found #49 Lowes truck and All Star Helmet-great find @ $1 each in bag!
Went to Wal Mart and found the new Disney Clubhouse in new package and the new candy pack pictured. The dispenser comes with 2 packs candy. The candy pack and dispenser with candy were $1.50 each at Wal Mart! New prices on the new packages.

It’s official. The 12th Annual Northeast PEZ Collectors Gathering will be held April 8, 9, 10 2010 at the Sheraton Stamford Hotel in Stamford Connecticut. (different hotel than this year) After a month of talking with several hotels, we found one that fits our needs and is reasonably priced. That’s the good news.
The bad news is this year our group booked less hotel rooms than we contracted for. So we have to adjust our group room block numbers which made getting a contract difficult. Everything is based on the rooms we book in the hotel. The more rooms we book, the more they want us. Less rooms we book, the harder it is and the more everything costs. So, in order to continue hosting the convention we have to make some adjustments. Hopefully it will work, but we need your help.
Our Saturday show has always been very well attended. All of our dealers talk about how busy the show is. For those that don’t know, it’s held in a big ballroom and we get at least 500 people coming through the doors. After talking with several dealers and giving it careful thought we will be opening up the Saturday show to include other candy collectibles and we will give the Saturday show another name. We are doing this to hopefully draw more people to the hotel, which should boost room bookings and hopefully help us continue hosting this convention for another ten years! The first time we do this, it may be confusing but I know it’s going to work.
Here is where we need your help. The Saturday show will be called the “Northeast Candy Collector Expo” (which will be held in conjunction with the Northeast PEZ Collectors Gathering) and will be open to all candy collectibles. Knowing the way our attendance/promotions have been for just the PEZ show, this “new” show will be packed. If you know anyone (collector or dealer) that might be interested please give them the information. If you go to www.CandyCollectorExpo.com/necandycon.pdf you can print our flyer to pass around. Please bring the flyers to shows or your local candy stores to hand out. This is the only show of its kind. It will be big. More information can be found on our web site at www.CandyCollectorExpo.com . We have several blogs, Twitter pages, Facebook pages that can be found on our web site too.
Don’t forget, the Northeast PEZ Collectors Gathering will be held April 8-10 2010 and information for the PEZ convention can be found at www.PezGathering.com. The Saturday Public Show will have a name of it’s own (Northeast Candy Collector Expo) which should make it appeal to a larger audience. It can’t hurt. Please help us spread the word……

PEZ Pins
Where do I start? Our web site www.PezPinz.com has been updated and the web store www.PezheadStore.com was also updated. It’s now much easier to find stuff at the web store. The “Collectors Guide to PEZ PINZ” has been updated to include the new/future releases-it can be found at www.PezPinz.com . The Monsters, PEZ n Pets and the Circus pins and all Pin Sets are now discontinued or sold out.
Our new “PEZ dispenser” pins will be available starting on May 25th. These pins are really cool looking and are limited to only 139 made. They look just like PEZ dispensers. The PEZ PINZ mail order form on the web site www.PezPinz.com/oldform.html has been updated to include the new release pins, but they will not be shipping until after May 25th. You can print up the form and send in now. They will also be available in the next issue of PCN which is due out around the end of May.
ATTN: Reserved Pin number holders! There is a special gold glitter pin on the form that is available only to our current reserved pin holders in good standing. It’s a special pin, at a special price just to say thank you for supporting PEZ PINZ for 2 years. (only 40 pins holders on current list) Also, one rare color variation pin was packaged in the first 40 pins. For this release of pins, only 5 color variation pins of each pin style were made. For example, one rare variation of Bubbleman (red glitter stem) was made. One was randomly packaged in the first 40 pins and only 5 will be sold on eBay. Enjoy!

Hi Everyone,

The latest issue of the newsletter has been sent and everyone should have gotten it by now. If you fell for the April Fools Joke don’t feel bad, other people fell for it too. I heard about it at the convention. The convention went great. Thanks to the dealers and the people that attended we had another PEZtastic time at the convention. Strange thing, this year it went by super fast, too fast. I’m sorry its over. For some reason less rooms were booked. But attendance seemed to be the same, if not better than last year. I guess more people are making a day trip out of it Pictures from the convention have been posted to www.PezRocks.com and a couple short videos have been posted to www.PezheadUniversity.com . For people that ordered absentee convention packages, they will be mailed out next week. I messed up and didn’t order boxes. As soon as the boxes come, I will mail them out-SORRY! Congratulations to those that got their first diploma from Pezhead University. Well deserved degree!

PEZ Convention 2010

I arrived in CT a couple days early to shop for a new hotel for next year. We want to get room rates below $100 per night! There are a couple possible hotels for next year. Right now, we are in the middle of talks with them. Last year, no one wanted us, so we had to settle with the Hilton. Good hotel, but $103 per night-pricey.

During the convention I was asking questions about a few things. Before rumors start flying, I better tell you about our plans for the next NE PEZ Con. We will have one major change that will not change the PEZ Convention. It will make more fun, help the convention grow and possibly bring more collectors into the PEZ collecting hobby. I feel this will be good for all of us.

As you may have heard from convention attendees/dealers our Public Show Day has always been very successful with between 500-1000 people entering the doors on Saturday alone. Some PEZ collectors also collect other candy collectibles like M&M, Klik and other types of candy collectibles. I even have a few M&M items and other candy dispensers in my collection and I bet you do too. Since I have access to a big ballroom I thought it would be good for our hobby to expand our Public Show day to include all candy collectibles, M&M, Klik, Flix, Spin Pops, Pop Culture tins-anything candy collectible. This type of event should bring in even more people to the Saturday Public Show.

The 12th Annual Northeast PEZ Collectors Gathering will be held again in April 2010 in Stamford CT. We will also be promoting the Public Show day which will be called the “Northeast Candy Collector Expo”. I know it’s going to be a big hit with the general public. Look at how well those trendy candy stores do, such as Dylans Candy Bar or Itsugar.

If you would be interested in attending, being a dealer, know any candy collectors, candy dealers that you think might be interested in more information please tell them to check out our new web site at www.CandyCollectorExpo.com , or blog at www.CandyCollector.com . This will be a really big show!
