Today I went into town to buy socks and a nail brush. On the way back I noticed that Emmanuel was open to visitors so, only having the baby with me, I popped in and took some photos. I don't know that this is the best photo I took but it has some movement in it which makes a pleasant change.

One of my Mother's Day treats was an expedition to the Botanic Gardens with my camera and the child most likely to nap in the buggy. Nearly two hundred shots later this desert plant turned out to be my favourite.

I try not to use the in built flash as much as possible. Normally this means that I get a lot of very blurred toddler in motion shots. This time it would seem that the birthday girl stood nice and still to better concentrate on blowing out those candles.

We hosted the NCT open house here on St Patrick's Day so I thought it might be fun to get the wee ones to paint some stones green to make these little faces. Some of them have more eyes than I expected.

Alex planted some seeds and has been enthusiastically watering them. These carrot seedlings have survived the deluges so far.

It would have been much better to get the seedlings in focus.

Parsnips for Soup

The base for roasted parsnip, vanilla and lemon soup. It was ok but not a soup I'll make again.

Not a very interesting photo unless you want to know more about chopped parsnips.

Great St. Mary's (Day 7)

This church stands overlooking Kings College in Cambridge. There was lovely light at about half four this afternoon. Unfortunately the buildings blocked most of it so that it only fell on the very top of the tower. I've tried to make the most of a rather disappointing shot by converting to black and white and upping the contrast.

I would have liked to have gone round to the other side of Kings to see if the light was illuminating the college along the Backs but time and the buggy were conspiring against me.

I took the camera with me this morning to drop Alex off at nursery. I thought there was bound to be some nice snowy shots but in the end this was the only thing I saw. I like the lines and the lack of colour.

Big Hands (Day 5)

The shadow behind my little statue is way too harsh but this last minute shot isn't as bad as I feared it would be.

I love this statue. Alex and Ian bought it for my birthday last year. She has huge feet.

Ex Scott (Day 4)

Again a late in the day shot. As luck would have it Alex had made biscuits earlier in the day with the new letter cutters. And her name is the only thing she can nearly spell. She ate the A as soon they had cooled from the oven. The L went as a treat (oh, ok a bribe) for getting into her pjs with no fuss.

It looks threatening to me. As though Ian had really annoyed the biscuit mafia.

Floorboards (Day 3)

The end of the day was drawing close and yet I still hadn't taken a photo. Expect a lot of these sort of almost abstract pattern shots taken at the last minute before bedtime.

These are our floorboards. When we took the carpets up they were covered in some sort of gluey tar (or possibly tarry glue).

A Photo A Day

One of these days there will be time in abundance for messing round with cameras and photos. Until those days I am just going to try to take at least one photo a day and post it here. Most of my time I am accompanied by two small people. Expect a lot of photos of them. It is unlikely to be art. But it'll be something.
