Ceiling textures, vinyl flooring, wallpaper and sidewalk cracks would all reveal hidden eyes, noses, lips and ears.I sort of grew out of that phase, but a while back, I noticed this little guy in a glass dish I use to hold guitar picks. I've been playing with the idea for a few weeks. I've always sort of wanted a bonsai tree, but I have been hesitant. Maybe I am afraid of killing it. In all likelihood, I would give it way too much attention. So, while the idea of a bonsai tree might be fine, the idea of a dead bonsai tree is definitely unappealing.Anyway, for fun I Gray Areahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01322316068851564848noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7019444129418134590.post-73906202956357498382009-01-11T22:59:00.000-08:002009-01-11T23:12:53.407-08:00Idle handsCoralineI was browsing around tonight and found a site for a new movie that I suddenly must see. What I do for the flora and the fauna appeals to my nurturing side. The IV irrigation setup is the latest innovation.I got some used IV bags from a friend's vet. The idea of recycling these bags is appealing on a couple of levels. I like that I can set them up with premeasured fertilizer and control the drip rate to last for a week or two. My wife and I have been toying with the idea of moving recently, but it's been hard to get excited about the prospect of packing up all our stuff and moving from one suburban neighborhood to another. I can't say I really dislike where we live now either. Our yard is beautiful in the spring. When I make things, they always come out OK, but I'm not *good* at cooking. I'm happy to chop veggies, but it takes a while, and I tend to chop too many and more finely than necessary, but here's the thing: I like doing it.So this weekend while my wife was away, I took the opportunity to make enchiladas for me and the kids. It is maybe a faint, residual drunkenness, but mostly I think the six hours on the water today have left me with this feeling. I've been thinking about the day and how it was such a nice birthday. I realize how happy I really am. The first thing that usually crosses my mind at that instant is one of relief. It is a wordless feeling that translates to: "Whew, that could easily have been me."I forgot to mention something that happened yesterday.
