This week marks the 8th anniversary of Straight Ahead. It's funny how the comic has taken 8 years to cover less than a year of Phil's life. It's been fun getting lost in the imaginary world of these characters. I hope the 9th season will be better than ever.

We're back on schedule after "Turkey" Weekend. According to the D'Bad Queen, her relationships last between 0.5 and 1.5 seconds after an orgasm. Not much time for after glow, or a cigarette in her case.

This next weekend is the Thanksgiving long weekend in Canada. Things have been hectic here, so I going to take the weekend off. This means there will be no comic on Tuesday, Oct 13th. I'm going to recharge on turkey and pumpkin pie. We'll resume on Tuesday, Oct 20th. See you then.

Ta Da !! Episode 350!!

And with this episode comes the unofficial end to summer... the Labour Day long weekend. We had wonderful weather for the entire long weekend and did lots of visiting and running around the city. It was a nice goodbye to the summer season. And all the kids are back at school now. Study hard, make us proud!! Shouldn't you be studying and not reading comics?!!

I'm back from holidays and had a nice relaxing time. The weather could have been better, but it seems things have been strange all over the country this year. I'm so relaxed from holidays, I'm behind in putting in my latest update. I was going to show some vacation pictures, but I was having trouble sizing the pictures. I've gotten so behind that I'll skip it. We'll start our regular updates as planned starting Tuesday Aug 25th. Sorry for the delay.

Well, it's been a long week for my partner and me. The funeral for my partner's mother was last Friday. We had a beautiful day and we had lots of family and friends come out. Things are slowly getting back to... routine I guess would be the best word. Anyways, we're back to our regular schedule only to start our summer vacation schedule. The first draft will be as follows:

Tuesday, July 21st - Faces special
Tuesday, July 28th - no comic
Tuesday, Aug 4th - Faces special II
Tuesday, Aug 11th - no comic
Tuesday, Aug 18th - special - not sure what about yet.
Tuesday, Aug 25th - back to our regular weekly schedule

I'll keep you posted if there are any changes.

Just to top things off, I just discovered that I spelled the word "opposable" wrong in the last frame of EP347. It doesn't help misspelling words, but when you do it in the punch line, it takes away from the whole joke. Oh well, too late to fix it now. I'll have to get back to it (and some other spellos, later). By the way, in EP347, humans have opposable fingers which gives us our sophisticated hand motor skills. Fang must have picked it up by watching the Estabrooks'. I wonder if he can play the piano... hmmmm.... makes me think of that frog in the Bugs Bunny cartoons.

I also forgot to mention in EP346, that Fang's girlfriends names, Maude and Vera, are my grandmothers' names.

I don't know if noticed, but in last week's episode (EP344) I mistakenly drew Phil in his regular clothes instead of his pyjamas. I was going to leave it, but thought it would look strange if Phil is in his pyjamas, and then suddenly appears in his clothes. I compromised by just drawing poka dots on his shirt. You can still see the collar of his shirt. In this week's episode (EP345) you can see he has the pyjama collar back again. By the way, that's a girlie drink in the D'BAD Queen's hand. It's almost too small to see.

Just checking to see if you're paying attention.

The company I work for, Nortel, announced that it is going to be broken up and sold in pieces. Let's hope I get "traded" to the new owner. Nothing will be for sure until the fall.

Summer vacation is less than 4 weeks away!! I will post the summer schedule soon.

Schedule Change...

Since there was so much trouble with the server that hosts my comic last week, and I'm catching a cold to boot, the next update will be a week later on Tuesday May 26th. We'll stay at the current episode (EP340) so we get a clean start on the new storyline.

We begin a new storyline with EP340. The note at the bottom of frame 4 says "As Time Goes By, words and music by Herman Hupfeld, 1931". I should know by now not to use such small print. You can't see it on the computer screen. To me, Casablanca is one of the most romantic movies ever made. And "As Time Goes By" is a timeless song.

And so ends another storyline.

EP339 shows that Sgt Ruff will be with us for a long time, if not forever. My partner actually witnessed this happen in a local mall here in Ottawa. When he told me the story, I knew I was going to use it to end the storyline.

I checked the archives and was surprised to find this story started almost 2 years ago on June 5th 2007 !! I definitely need to shorten the storylines. I promise the next one will be shorter. Didn't I say that last time?? I can't remember, it was too long ago.

I wish I had a nickel for each time I saw the phrase "no fats or femmes", or straight looking, straight acting, etc. I'd be rich. So now Stg Ruff has come to torture Phil in EP336. The magazine picture in frame 4 didn't turn out the way I'd hoped. Lots of erasing on that one. But in the end, it got the point across.

Like in EP335, sometimes once your labelled with something, for some people it doesn't matter what happens, the suspicion will always remain. They always tailor everything to fit their conclusion.
