I have been a fan of this band since 1984 and have had the pleasure of meeting them several times over the years. I must say this show was right at the top for a variety of reasons. First of all, I took my friend Greg who attends our Racing for Recovery meetings Todd Crandellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10388452350837410266noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6979752.post-45979621904974279122008-07-14T20:33:00.003-04:002008-07-14T20:43:56.528-04:00Mason, Rhode Island & ThanksHappy 3rd b day to my son Mason. I love you with all my heart and thank God for you everyday.I just returned from Rhode Island 1/2 Ironman where I finished in a time of 5.09 which is my best ever at that distance. More importantly than that was hanging with my friend Tom and his family along with Sandy and Andy who participated in our Racing for Recovery 5k in Las Vegas last October. As I was running today, I passed a detective as he was directing traffic (we have a big golf outing in town this week) and said "hey Detective how are ya? He replied "hey Todd do not knock over any of my cones" and he waived and laughed. As I continued on my run I thought this guy came to my parents house 23 years Todd Crandellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10388452350837410266noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6979752.post-77806428129873252032008-07-05T10:02:00.002-04:002008-07-05T10:11:16.770-04:00RunningOk let me just simply say this, running is good for you in so many ways it is unreal. If you are a runner you dig what I am saying if you are not try it and you will see what I am talking about. Running and exercise in general has a plethora of benefits including mental, physical, spiritual and emotional just to mention a few. Only 35 people are lucky enough to do this event and have to be selected to do so. Again, I feel blessed to be one of the chosen. I am doing this for a variety of reasons and one is that I hope to raise funds to build the eventual Racing for Recovery Eric Floyd Lifestyle Center in Todd Crandellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10388452350837410266noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6979752.post-56810642264580859642008-06-28T18:42:00.004-04:002008-06-29T06:50:25.705-04:00You can leave commentsOk everyone I am adding a comment section here so if you are so inclined, please feel free to post your thoughts on this "blog" (God I hate that word lol) for others to see. I can't "fix" someone else but rather focus on how I can improve myself. I am only responsible for my sanity and well-being and not that of other people.Life and the happiness we desire is just like sobriety we have choice to achieve both. Holy cow was this an amazing place and event. 265 people from 17 states attended the triathlon and the venue was beautiful. I have been blessed with being able to travel the world and I have seen some amazing places but Redfish Lake ranks right up there at the top. I watched my daughter Skylar complete her first triathlon yesterday and was simply proud of her and to be a dad. I also had my son with me as I did a triathlon today in Detroit (thanks Kenny and 3 d racing for the allowing us to do your great event) and again as I came out of the water and saw 2 of my great kids cheering me on I thought to myself "Todd Crandellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10388452350837410266noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6979752.post-4019195415291599482008-06-09T14:38:00.004-04:002008-06-27T11:38:19.494-04:00Racing for Recovery TriathlonHello everyone,The 4rth Annual Racing for Recovery was awesome yesterday. In the big picture the time does not mean a thing the reason why I state it is because I want to thank my coaches Krista and Scott because I have not done that well in over 8 years and they are the reasons why. Here is another reason why I am putting that info here for you all listening to Todd Crandellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10388452350837410266noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6979752.post-24907977711490260432008-05-19T19:07:00.004-04:002008-06-27T11:39:54.183-04:00Madison GraduationThe entries just keep pouring in lol. I want to say how proud I am of my daugher Madison for graduating from pre-school today. I love you my little girl and I am so proud to be your dad. You are going to grow up to be a sober, intelligent and caring person and that is all I can ask for.I have to say I really did not think too many people read this thing and I guess it does not matter how many Todd Crandellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10388452350837410266noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6979752.post-54444071682055472432008-05-18T16:48:00.005-04:002008-06-27T11:43:13.536-04:00Softball and Will JHey everyone,I have been doing alot of diaries lately eh? Here is the latest. Racing for Recovery has our own co-ed softball team and we have our first game on June 1. This is yet another activity for our members to be involved with and be with other sober individuals. It is awesome to see all of team members out there enjoying themselves with a healthy activity. Look closely at those Racing Todd Crandellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10388452350837410266noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6979752.post-46631515921250062112008-05-14T06:16:00.006-04:002008-06-27T11:44:34.566-04:00Madison BikingI just want to say how proud I am of my baby girl Madion (5 years old) who started riding her bike without training wheels yesterday. She just said to me "daddy take of the training wheels" and so I did and boom she took off riding. To watch the smile on her face was pricelss and I was reminded of what life is all about. My job in this world is to be the best father I can to my kids and I am Todd Crandellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10388452350837410266noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6979752.post-15950139554900332372008-05-12T08:16:00.003-04:002008-06-27T11:45:10.721-04:00136Ya know not all times are good times in sobriety and I must say that this time sucks. I know my life has been an open book and I am sure at some point all of this will come out but right now I am keeping this absolute gut wrenching pain I am going through to myself. it is amazing to me that people close to you will constantly screw you over and then just basically say "get over it" I dont Todd Crandellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10388452350837410266noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6979752.post-52887385387385019132008-05-09T18:34:00.007-04:002008-06-27T11:45:46.705-04:00Mother's DayHello everyone and Happy Mother's Day to all of you moms out there. I would like to offer my thoughts and prayers to my friend Eric in Florida whose mom just passed away this week. He actually asked me to write a post about mothers so give credit where credit is due right? Thanks for the advice Eric.I also want to say my thoughts are with Joanne Floyd who I cant comprehend what she is going Todd Crandellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10388452350837410266noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6979752.post-63780057611567366952008-05-02T07:32:00.003-04:002008-06-27T11:46:31.062-04:00Hello From St. CroixHey everyone,It is simply beautfiul down here in St. Croix for the Half Ironman this Sunday. I am sitting out on our patio looking out to the ocean and thinking to myself what a great life I have and once again how it all began by simply choosing to stop drinking on April 15, 1993. It has taken over 15 years of CONTINUED sobriety to get to this point but it shows that if you stay true to what Todd Crandellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10388452350837410266noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6979752.post-9152276057896044182008-04-26T21:17:00.004-04:002008-06-27T11:47:06.931-04:00WindyGot back out and rode 36 miles today after taking days off after Ironman China. It was extremely windy out but felt great to ride with my friend Scott Horns (coach) and Eddie Freas from our recovery house. It was truly humbling to know that Eddie who struggled with a cocaine addiction, saw the ESPN clip in New Jersey and moved here in January and has not only remained sober but it training for Todd Crandellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10388452350837410266noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6979752.post-57967281223078677962008-04-20T11:31:00.004-04:002008-06-27T11:47:55.990-04:00Ironman China finishedHello everyone I just finished my 14th Ironman here in China in a time of 13.16. The day was brutal as the heat and wind were unreal. God these things are so hard but crossing that line and doing this all for Racing for Recovery and showing our slogan "with sobriety anything is possible" make it all worth it.During the run I had roughly 15 little Chinese kids running with me. Kind felt like Todd Crandellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10388452350837410266noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6979752.post-78282520734295044762008-04-14T07:47:00.003-04:002008-06-27T11:48:41.576-04:00ChinaHello from China and the Ironman. Just got in last night about 2 am and man I am out of whack. 17 hours of just flying time to get here and plus layovers and driving has left me a bit "out of it" but I am not complaining one bit as I love this life. This place we are staying at (Sheraton) is awesome and huge. Pools, ocean, beach, sun, good food and exercise is all around. Met a friend of Todd Crandellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10388452350837410266noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6979752.post-47208305939204179852008-03-25T16:46:00.004-04:002008-04-11T12:07:47.443-04:00What is up people? I hope everyone is well.Hello everyone,I hope your Easter was a great time with family and friends. It is imperative for me to realize how special that day is and the importance of it all.All is well in the racing for recovery camp. The production guys for our tv show are busy putting together a promotional reel before we begin full on movement. I will be back in Los Angeles next week to work with them and finalize Todd Crandellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10388452350837410266noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6979752.post-83120944144534637792008-03-13T06:49:00.002-04:002008-03-13T06:59:39.885-04:00Positive not negativeHey guys hope all is well.Just a few things here to report. Yes our half ironman is going to happen (june 8) again and this is our 4rth year in a row. Yes it is going to be a USAT sanctioned event. Yes we are also doing a triathlon in Idaho on June 21 and yes it is a USAT sanctioned event. Racing for Recovery is not a race management company and that is why we have 3 Disciplines do this task Todd Crandellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10388452350837410266noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6979752.post-11592779591344822842008-02-25T13:53:00.002-05:002008-02-25T13:57:26.364-05:00MadisonHappy 5th birthday to my baby girl Madison Marie Crandell. You are a gift from God and I love you dearly. Enjoy your day and don't let me eat any of your cake.Things are rough around this program lately with the passing of Eric but there is also a powerful vibe with everyone as well. People involved closely with this awesome program are becoming more active to get our mission out to the massesTodd Crandellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10388452350837410266noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6979752.post-51814830493282789352008-02-20T07:16:00.002-05:002008-02-20T07:26:01.449-05:00Eric Floyd RIPI am devastated by the death of my friend and Racing for Recovery member Eric Floyd. Last Wed night Eric was driving intoxicated and was in an accident and his passing was the final result. Not only was Eric a member of our program but he was my friend most of all and I will miss him dearly. I never thought someone I knew and was involved with would die from this stuff but I was wrong.
