Today two people asked me about flying with gear. I do it a lot. It's not really a big deal.

I hate checking bags because I hate waiting at airports, so I always carry on.

Things you can carry on a plane with no hassle (in my experience): ropes, whips, cat o'nines, leather paddles, riding crops, canes, clothespins, small wooden paddles, most floggers, ball gags, dildos, vibrators. TSA will also let you bring the following as carry on, but these things show up looking funny in the metal detector and might cause your bag to get searched: EMT shears, nipple clamps (particularly tweezer style clamps, since they look like tweezers which are banned on some airlines as they can be stabbed with), CBT weights, CBT toys with metal parts. It really surprised me that they allow EMT shears but apparently it's only scissors with a pointy tip (like sewing scissors) that are verboten. Presumably because they could be used in a stabbing way.

TSA will not let you carry on anything that they deem usable as truncheon. I have a buffalo hide flogger with a wooden handle which I've had to check because of this rule, so now I don't travel with it. I've had no problem with little wooden paddles but you probably wouldn't be allowed to bring a fraternity style paddle. The rule of thumb is basically if you could knock someone out by hitting them on the head with it, you can't carry it on a plane. Razors, knives, and needles are also not okay to carry on, nor are "realistic looking" toy guns (this should be obvious). However, all this stuff is fine for your checked baggage.

I have had my bag searched when I was carrying gear. It's not a really big deal either. It's happened to me a few times and the guards have always been very professional, except one man at LGA who whirled my buffalo hide flogger around in the air and asked if it was a Valentine's Day present (this was when I learned I couldn't carry that particular piece of equipment in my carry on). You can always ask for the search to be done in private instead of in front of other people going through the checkpoint, if you're worried about that kind of thing.

I do advise packing all your gear last, on top of your clothes and toiletries, so that it's easily accessible if your bag does get searched.

But really, you don't need to stress about it. Happy travels, fellow pervs.

Dungeon owners are like college admissions committees, in that they strive for a racially diverse population for their institutions. The Supreme Court, New York County, Irving Lang, J., held that (1) the statutory definition of prostitution was not unconstitutionally vague and overbroad, even though the statute did not contain an explicit definition of the crucial term “sexual conduct”; (2) the acts of prostitution established at trial, involving sexual intercourse and fellatio, brought defendant within the purview of the statute, and (3) though it might be that former taboos would gradually disappear as newer legislators replaced those “raised under repressive sexual adaptations,” the court was constrained to follow the current law pertaining to prostitution until such halcyon days arrived."

"In view of fact that term “prostitution” itself has a commonly understood meaning, involving the areas of sexual intercourse deviate sexual intercourse and masturbation, fact that term “sexual conduct” was not defined in section which defines prostitution as engaging, agreeing or offering to engage in “sexual conduct” with another person in return for a fee did not render the statutory definition unconstitutionally vague and overbroad. "[1][2] Failure to define terms does not render a statute unconstitutional when the terms have a commonly understood meaning (Matter of Gold v. Lomenzo, 29 N.Y.2d 468, 329 N.Y.S.2d 805, 280 N.E.2d 640). The only reported case construing the terms “sexual conduct” and “fee” as regards the prostitution statute is People v. Block, 71 Misc.2d 714, 337 N.Y.S.2d 153 (Nassau County Ct. 1972). In the Block case the court defined “sexual conduct” by engrafting the definition of that term contained in Penal Law, section 235.20. The definition in section 235.20 is expressly restricted in its application to Penal Law, sections 235.21 and 235.22 which deal with the dissemination of indecent materials to minors. Since this restriction prevents its application to other sections in Article 235, it clearly cannot be engrafted to the prostitution article. Moreover, the definition of sexual conduct in section 235.20 includes contact with the clothed genital areas, clothed buttocks and clothed female breasts, types of activity not normally included within the concept of prostitution."

3. "Sexual contact" means any touching of the sexual or other intimate parts of a person not married to the actor for the purpose of gratifying sexual desire of either party. It includes the touching of the actor by the victim, as well as the touching of the victim by the actor, whether directly or through clothing."

A note:

As Judge Lang points out in the section from People v. Costello quoted above, engrafting definitions of a term like sexual conduct from one section or article to another is expressly forbid by the text of some articles, including article 130. However, as sexual conduct and sexual contact are not explicitly defined by Penal Law 230, judges and lawyers look at the existing law and past cases for guidance in order to help decide what those terms mean. So, since article 130 has the most concrete and complete definition of sexual conduct and contact it might be influential in regard to prostitution cases. N.Y.Fam.Ct. 1977. In re P. 92 Misc.2d 62, 400 N.Y.S.2d 455 is an example of a prostitution case in which the judge looked at other sections of the law for guidance in making her decision, as is People v. Kovner, in which article 130 was specifically referenced:

"Section 230.00 of the Penal Law defines prostitution as follows:
**351 “A person is guilty of prostitution when such person engages or agrees or offers to engage in sexual conduct [FN*] with another person in return for a fee.”
FN* In People v. Costello, 90 Misc.2d 431, 395 N.Y.S.2d 139 (Sup.Ct., N.Y.Co.1977), a restricted definition of “sexual conduct” was adopted, requiring that the prohibited activity to be considered as an act of prostitution must be either sexual intercourse, deviate sexual intercourse or masturbation. Although “sexual conduct” is more broadly defined throughout the Penal Law (P.L. 130.00, subd. 3; P.L. 235.20 subd. 3; P.L. 245.10, subd. 2; and P.L. 263.00, subd. 3), the more restricted Costello definition of “sexual conduct” is approved and followed here. So Hidden Chamber got raided last night. Six of their dommes have been charged with prostitution. This is a shame. Whatever they were doing or not doing, it's a shame. I hope the charges get dropped and they can all go back to work soon. I have great sympathy for what they must be going through, and I'm sure they were not doing anything unethical.

I am of the opinion that there is nothing wrong with prostitution. I believe it should be decriminalized. I think a domme should be able to warm up with a little prostate massage before proceeding to strap-on fucking and then finish by jerking the guy off with her feet while she sits her bare ass on his face and gets her asshole tongued, should she be so inclined. The former two activities are pretty common session practices (though not my bag), and the latter two are performed by a smaller subset of dommes. All are legally dubious when money is involved.

The NY state prostitution law is as follows:

"S 230.00 Prostitution. A person is guilty of prostitution when such person engages or agrees or offers to engage in sexual conduct with another person in return for a fee.

Sexual conduct is defined in article 130, which concerns sexual offenses, as the following:

10. "Sexual conduct" means sexual intercourse, oral sexual conduct, anal sexual conduct, aggravated sexual contact, or sexual contact.

I have never heard of a bust that didn't involve what sounded like a pretty obvious violation of the law. For example: in the summer of 2005 I interviewed to work at a house, now closed permanently due to a bust. During the interview I was asked if I would give footjobs. I said I would not, and was not hired. A domme acquaintance of mine experienced the same thing at this particular house. Was I shocked when I heard they'd been busted for prostitution? No I was not.

It really bugs me when these busts happen and people act like they're about kink. As if we're all about to get rounded up and sent to jail for tying people up and whipping them, or for getting tied up and whipped. We're not. You're not. These busts are not about S&M; they're about stuff that violates anti-prostitution laws which is sometimes done by some dommes. There's nothing wrong with any of this stuff, except legally.

I hope that this simmers down and we can all go back to getting our freak on in peace. That's my current fantasy.

The Ipod dock isn't working, and the fist mitts and pricker chest harness are too small. I cannot find the electrical tape. The Fetters suspension harness is not cooperating. My mental blueprint for the session must be discarded, and then the chains have only been in the freezer for 45 minutes and are not as cold as I would like. Another mistress is leading her client to wash up just when I poke my head outside the door, ready to take him to the bathroom to do the mummification and water bondage.
